"I'm in stitches over you." Adrien can't help it as the words slip out as he glances sideways at his girlfriend, easily finding the kinds of words that though really meant most sincerely might just bring an amused smile to her face. Her smiles were gorgeous in the ways that Adrien could find no words for.
She shook her head, "Adrien!"
It probably didn't help his case much that they'd just been in a fabric store, window shopping as they were on such a hot day. Half the time, it felt like a relief to slip into another store, feel the air conditioner cooling the sweat from their way too warm bodies. They just didn't want to stay at some place and be still. There was something special about holding hands and walking through Paris, or not quite holding hands, but walking close and talking to each other so genuinely, relaxing without the need of complicated conversations or difficult to bear nerves.
"But, every moment with you is pawsitively ameowzing." He argued back easily enough, only dimly worried that his superhero identity would fall down at his feet, revealing himself to her without meaning to.
"Now, you're starting to sound like Cat Noir." But, there was a smile on her lip, faintly amused despite herself.
"Well, that's furry high praise, M'Lady." It slipped out without his meaning to, and it felt weird to call anyone other than Ladybug his Lady, though he kind of liked the way it fit for Marinette. He loved her, and when he could finally find the confidence to tell her, he would. Today, though to rest in her good humor and good graces was all that he needed.
He guessed that his inner Chat was showing a little more than usual today.
"I guess that would be pretty high praise then." Marinette softly punned back, and it took Adrien a bit to realize that she emphasized that word to reference how high up the superheroes moved through Paris, almost as if they flew.
"I guess you could say that I'm on a roll, purrsonally." Adrien shook his head, trying to find a better word, but Marinette giggled at the little bit of the effort or maybe from the great enthusiasm he had used in its delivery.
"I can't believe you sometimes." She may have rolled her eyes, letting the puns slide away, but her fingers looped around his hand. His heart raced faster than he knew it could, and he couldn't help but lean just a little bit closer.
It may have been a scorching day, made to be spent with air conditioners at full blast or cooling off in a pool, but Adrien certainly could attest that it was best spent with his girlfriend, hurrying into cool buildings for relief from the heat and outside again to feel the sunshine on their skin and naturally playfully joking and casually punning. It didn't really matter that much that most people would find different ways to enjoy the heat of the sun and different conversations on hot sunny days.
His girlfriend was holding his hand, and he didn't know before that the sun could get warmer than unseasonably hot Parisian days.
