This one is by request of Annabeth AKA Mrs. Jackson I hope this works for you!
Alas, I am not so certain that Annabeth is in character, or Percy for that matter, so... this is definietly AU, I guess or just crack.
Annabeth Chase: Relationship Status
Setting/Spoilers - Some time before The Last Olympian, but probably after The Battle of the Labyrinth, I think, Paul doesn't know yet. There aren't really any spoilers in here.
Paul watched in amusement as he quietly closed the door behind him. Percy was on the couch, talking quietly but excitedly with the girl seated beside him. The girl had curly golden blond hair and grey eyes. She appeared to be tall, fit and athletic looking, even while seated. Percy and the girl were giggling and leaning close to each other – far closer than normal friends would – with large smiles on their faces. They didn't notice him come in, which, he supposed could be bad if he had been an evil villain set out to destroy the world. He did have a key though, so he could forgive their ignorance.
He felt like he was intruding on a –very – private moment between two teenagers, which he was, so he crept around them and slipped into the kitchen. Sally was busy baking cookies, it seemed, the blue food dye out and waiting to be used. She smiled at him when he came in, greeting him with a hug and a sugary kiss – sampling her baked goods, perhaps? Paul stole one for himself, receiving only a light smack and shake of the head from Sally.
There was a sudden loud crash and Paul peaked back into the other room to see both teens sprawled out on the floor in front of the couch. They were laughing, cheeks inflamed and both looking a little dazed but unharmed.
"Are you two all right?" Paul asked, partly out of concern but mostly to see how they would react. They did not disappoint.
Percy jumped up and away so fast that he was almost a blur before he promptly tripped over the couch and fell ungracefully back onto the floor. This sent the girl into peals of laughter once she realized that Paul was not a threat. Her hand fell away from her bag – on the floor next to the end of the couch – and Paul was sure there was some sort of weapon in there. He was relieved that she hadn't actually grabbed it.
"Paul!" Percy said, his face flushed from embarrassment as he, slowly this time, climbed to his feet. The girl did the same as she recovered from her fit of laughter.
Percy looked wildly between Paul and the girl for several moments. "This is, uh… Annabeth! Annabeth Chase! Annabeth, this is Paul. He's my mom's boyfriend." He finally introduced.
Annabeth smiled at him and held out her hand. "It's nice to meet you, Mr. Blowfis."
"Just Paul, please, I get enough of that at school. And it's a pleasure to meet you as well." Paul said, shaking her hand. "Do you go to camp with Percy?"
In the background, Percy looked like he didn't know what to do with himself, constantly fidgeting.
"How did you-?" Percy started, a panicked expression on his face. Annabeth elbowed him in the ribs. He winced, rubbed his side and gave her a mournful and confused look. She rolled her eyes.
Paul looked amused, "I haven't seen her around the school, I know you have a lot of friends from that summer camp you go to and you have mentioned Annabeth many times since I've met you."
Annabeth and Percy both blushed violently. It was amusing how easily embarrassed they became.
"O-Oh right, that's true. All good things of course." Percy said, directing the last statement to Annabeth. He seemed to droop in relief and Annabeth lightly kicked him until he straightened back up.
"…Right." Paul said, slightly suspicious. But, as with most oddities he heard or saw from the Jacksons, he decided to ignore it until they saw fit to bring him into the fold. "Well, I'll leave you two alone. Cookies should be ready soon so don't get too distracted. You wouldn't want to miss dessert."
He turned back into the kitchen before they could respond, which hid his grin as he heard Percy make a strangled sound in the back of his throat. Then the two teenagers were loudly whispering frantically to each other.
"Percy! He thinks we're dating! Fix it!"
"What do you want me to do about it?! If we say we aren't, he won't believe me!" There was a pause before, "and wait, does that mean you wouldn't want to date me?"
"That's not the point."
"What's so bad about me?"
"Percy!"
Paul stifled a chuckle, meeting Sally's amused gaze. She mock-threateningly waved a spatula at his face and he put his hands up in surrender.
"Paul, are you tormenting the kids?" She asked, her tone low but her grin giving her away.
"Keeps them on their toes." Paul said, returning the grin.
Sally and Percy finally let him in on the secret – demigods, gods, and monsters, oh my – and it is a lot to take in. They await anxiously as he digests the information, thinking it all over a few days after he'd been told. They want to know how he will react to this new world he's been thrown into. Willingly, considering he had known something was up with the Jacksons, though he had never figured it would be this. He had reacted pretty well at the time he had been told, and now he was just contemplating and sorting through everything.
When he does comment on non-life threatening questions, it isn't what they expected to hear.
"So you and Annabeth… you're dating?"
"Yes…" Percy said in confusion. Sally sat back a little, understanding dawning on her face. She could see where this was going, and worked to subdue her smile.
"Are you all right?" Annabeth asked in concern. Paul was slightly pale and still a little wide-eyed after all - the ability to sleep had evaded him while he was digesting what he had learned the past few days. Annabeth appeared to not have caught on just yet.
"…aren't you two technically related?" Paul finally asked. The teenagers then turned a brilliant shade of red, the memory forever embedded in the adults' minds.
