KPOV

When we returned to Mystic Fall a day late, Bella and I agreed to keep our new love a secret, easier for our enemies to use it against us. I walked into my home half expecting someone to be there, but I was utterly alone. Only this time I didn't feel as though I was, I knew that in no time Bella and I would rendezvous.

"Welcome home Nik." Kol said sarcastically from the corner.

"Good to be home brother. I expect you haven't done anything stupid." I said in return.

"Stupid is not really my strong suit." He said.

"Oh, enough let's do what we must so that I may once again go on hating you." Rebekah spoke.

"Rebekah darling still sour I see." She gave a look of death and rolled her eyes.

"Come now act your ages." Elijah stepped in through the door and like always his big brother role fit him all too well. Rebekah sat back in her chair and Kol sat next to her. Elijah stood next to me and spoke in a subtle whisper.

"Marie?" he asked. It still bothered me that they had been so close.

"To catch up with her family, she said she would meet up later."

"Is this about the Salvatore girl again?" Kol spoke, as he appeared next to us.

Before I had a chance to speak, "Mind your tongue Kol, it would be nice to hear what you had to say if you only simply thought first."

"Thinking is for ugly people." Said Rebekah giggling.

"Thank you." Kol began to say. Then he realized it was an insult. "Hey." He said and just like that I was reminded of how my siblings and I used to be.

"On to serious matters, first things first the ties Esther had are now cut. Her plans are already executed, but she no longer has anything tying her, she simply watches from the other side with no control whatsoever."

"How do we go about stopping these plans?" Rebekah asked.

"Well, we need to find a way to de-spell the cold ones into trying to kill us. Clearly they can't but they will try."

"They are linked to Sylus, are they not?"

"That's not certain."

"But it's a start. We kill Sylus and go from there." I said eager to execute this plan so that I wouldn't have to keep up this roués with Bella any longer than I had to.

"Sylus is dangerous." Kol spoke.

"I didn't know you were the cowering type." I said.

"I'm the cautious to warning type. He is supposed to unleash hell on earth."

"Come now the same was said about the abomination that is our brother and yet here lies earth." Rebekah said with an evil smile on her face.

"I will not go after Sylus, and if you're smart you will not either." Kol spoke and walked towards the door.

"Where are you going brother?" Elijah said.

"If you all want to die by going up against Sylus be my guest, but I believe in self-preservation, I am going to run, as Finn."

"And abandon your family, we are dead if we run or if we fight so we might as well give it our all." I said.

"I don't like this optimistic side of you." Kol said before he blurred, but something odd occurred. He stopped mid step. We watched him on the front lawn.

"Kol what are you doing?"

"Sylus" he said. Suddenly a hooded being appeared in front of him. When we went for the door there was an invisible barrier. We thrashed violently on the invisible barrier, we watched and Kol stood motionless on the lawn. Then we screamed desperately as we watched the being pull out a stake, but this was no ordinary stake, it was carved perfectly and we could smell the white oak from where we stood. He stabbed Kol in the heart and we watched as our brother burned into char. The being looked up at us, but all we saw was darkness, and then a single thought appeared in all our heads, your next.
