Chapter 9
The walk to the theater was quicker than usually, mostly because the two walked faster than usual; not wanting Bakura to be late and give his boss a reason to yell at him. It was a cold November day, it looked as if it were going to rain at any minute. Luckily Bakura and Marik made it to the theater before it had a chance to pour. The theater was big, enough to put several ticket booth stands at the opening of the building. Bakuras work mostly required him to work at the ticket stand. The job was hard, mostly because Bakura gave attitude and didn't like to be nice to strangers. In the beginning of his job, every time someone would ask for a ticket, his response would be "I don't care." Though wanting to afford their apartment together, Bakura quickly got his attitude under control and deals with ticket booth duties silently and pretends to be mute with a sour face for eight or less hours. A hard job indeed.
The lobby was dull and huge, a red carpet covered the lobby with small multi colored circles sprawled out over the boring red. The walls were dark tan and had movie posters covering every couple of feet across the room. Inside was a large concession stand with over-priced goods. The movies were decent enough though, this movie theater in particular would show movies two days early than other movie theaters. It didn't make much of a difference for Marik and Bakura however, any movie would entertain Marik and Bakura was a fan of cult classics, especially Cannibal Holocaust.
Out of nowhere, as Marik and Bakura entered the lobby, Bakuras boss approached them. Marik could never remember her name and Bakura liked to refer to her as "The one you dare not speak its name" when he was home or far away from her. Marik liked to tease Bakura and call her "Voldemort" sometimes, but she was also a huge Harry Potter fan so it did affect her. Most of the times he just called her "V" for short, her name didn't start with a V but since it was Marik, she did not care.
V was a average woman. As Marik liked to describe her: She was a two who liked to reach out to men out of her league. To this Bakura replied "Of course you are out of her league, because you play for a whole different team." V had dark red hair, it wasn't her natural hair color, yet she acted as if it were. In a world of anime characters, some of them have normal hair colors too. V was also an average height and size, shorter than Marik and Bakura; she still looked down at Bakura though.
"Bakura! Why aren't you at your station?" V barked at Bakura as soon as she approached the two villains.
Bakura was fumbling for the right words to defuse the situation before opening his mouth. He knew his boss didn't like him very much, the only reason he was probably still working there was because of Marik.
"Hi V." Marik spoke before Bakura could, seeing the frustration in Bakuras face made him talk first.
"Marik!" V shouted, making both Bakura and Marik flinch. She lunged at Marik, giving him a big hug. Bakura glowered at V while Marik made a panicked face in return to Bakuras. "You never came by to show me your costumes yesterday by the way!" V released her tight grip and looked at Marik with a fake pout.
"Oh I'm sorry I forgot, we kind of ended up in the ER last night." Marik replied with his eyes on the floor, his eyes suddenly started to sting.
V noticed his expression and quickly responded, "Oh, well don't be upset! I can see your costumes later now can't I!"
Bakura turned his head as if to look around the room and rolled his eyes. What a bloody bloke. He resounded in his head.
"Well it was great seeing your beautiful face Marik, as always, but I have to get to work and so does your friend." She angrily stuttered on the last word before she pointed to the ticket booth for Bakura and walked off.
Bakura pulled Marik close and held him tightly. "Don't worry about last night anymore please, you will give yourself an ulcer."
"Thank you." Marik hugged tightly before pulling away and kissing Bakura on the lips. It was a quick kiss. The two decided to stay neutral out of their apartment so as not to attract fangirls. They had already moved once because of it. Marik smiled and a bit of red stretched across his face, making his face warmer than it was a minute ago. A small smile crept from Bakuras mouth as he looked at Marik.
"Bakura! Work! NOW!" V's shouts interrupted from across the lobby before she slammed her door to her office, making the two flinch once more.
"Bloody twat!" Bakura accidentally exclaimed. He looked around the room to see if the coast was clear and saw another worker sweeping the floor, he nodded to Bakuras outburst. "Well anyway Marik, I have to go to work now." Bakuras voice returned to its grumpy means and he started to walk towards his booth.
"Wait! Can I stay with you? I can put a movie on our portable DVD player and sit there with you." Marik started as he matched Bakuras pace to the dreaded ticket stand.
"No offense Marik, but listening to Dora the Explorer while trying to concentrate on my job is a little difficult. I almost sent half of the customers to the shadow realm last time."
"What? Frig you! I wasn't watching Dora the Explorer! It was Pokemon!"
"Whats the difference?" Bakura asked as he opened the door to his booth and stepped inside with Marik following.
"The difference Bakura," Mariks voice boomed through the tiny room. "The difference is that Entei died! And all for that little brat. Entei you foolish fool!" He shot his fist in the air as if to condemn the little girl from afar.
"Yes, yes Marik I know. You told me in tears while I sat here in this very spot." Bakura opened the window to the booth and sat down in his rickety chair. "I really need to bring my own chair one day, I swear this one is giving my back problems." He rubbed his back sorely and looked out the window, admiring the gray and cloudy sky.
"That's not because of the chair Bakura, it's because of our bed." Marik smirked.
Bakura chuckled, "Maybe we need a new one? Or maybe you could massage me when I get home."
Before Marik could speak, the theaters first customer approached the booth and Bakura was off to work. How could anyone want to leave the house on a day like this, he wondered. This was the type of day where you stay at home and read or take a bubble bath. A bubble bath with candles around and someone to join you and keep you warm. His mind drifted and his face turned red.
Bakura had dealt with the customer and turned around to ask Marik what he was to do for the rest of the day, he noted the color on his face. "Marik?" He grinned.
It took Marik a few moments to collect himself and notice Bakura was asking him a question. "Huh, what? I didn't catch what you said. Maybe because you mumble all the time." Marik tried to change the subject subtly.
Bakura smiled again and asked once more, "I was asking what you were thinking about?"
Mariks face remained red as he avoided eye contact and answered, "I was thinking about how dreary this day looks, its a kind of stay inside and play video games day don't you think?"
"I think its a positively nice day, its clear and lets you brainstorm on all the evil things you can do in just twenty four hours." He gave an evil smile, one that would stop anyone dead in their tracks and deprive their soul the more they stared at him, anyone except Marik.
"Pfft you're so weird you know that?" Marik smiled and leaned against the desk that was beside the booths exit door.
About ten minutes passed, Bakura was busy with a steady number of customers who wanted to see some movie that just recently came out. He didn't know what the movie was about, nor did he care. Just as the clock hit ten past ten, Marik interrupted the silence with a loud "Bakura!" with a huge emphasis.
"What, Marik? Bakura asked with a low growl.
"I'm bored!" Marik said with a long sigh. "I already counted all the stuff in this room twice!"
"Marik there's eight things in this room."
"And I counted all of them!"
"Well what do you want me to do about it? Don't forget I'm working." Bakura turned around and glanced at Mariks pouty face.
"Well I don't know but I think I'm going to wander or something, maybe take someones candy."
"A true villain."
Marik pat Bakuras head before leaving and went about with his silly antics. Meanwhile Bakura worked at his ticket booth station until it was time to close up. He picked up his trench coat off the staff coat rack and slipped it over his work clothes, feeling a little better to be wearing something of his. It was quite the boring day and Marik was right, not many people did leave the house because of the weather. Bakura had probably handed out less than eighty tickets, a very slow day. Of course his boss wasn't impressed and left work without saying a word to him, but she gladly hugged an unwilling Marik before leaving. It was a little past six and the two were very hungry. Having forgotten Bakuras lunch at home due to his tardiness once again, they had only concession stand snacks that day, which wasn't very filling or appeasing. Their stomachs growled as they walked down the street. The street lamps had already come on, the year had passed so quickly that Bakura had forgotten it got darker earlier this time of year. Suddenly, a smell hit their noses making Marik look around in a haste.
"Bakura." Marik turned to Bakura with wide eyes.
"Yes Marik?" Bakura asked without turning his head towards Marik, still walking.
"There's a taco stand nearby."
"You're not yanking my chain are you? Cause I'm bloody hungry."
Following the smell, the two arrived at a taco stand on the street. An odd food stand to have in the fall but they didn't dare criticize. Tacos were a villains number one food in Mariks opinion and Bakura found they had agreed on something for once. Under a nearby awning to a Bakery the two had not had a chance to try out, they wolfed down a couple of delicious and defenseless tacos. Just as Bakura threw away his tacos carcass of a wrapper and lifted his head to look at the sky, it had started to rain. It was a light first couple of drops, but once several had hit the ground, a million others had started to fall already. Since the awning wasn't that big, water had started to fall onto Mariks shoulder, he didn't notice until Bakura had pulled him close.
Marik struggled for his balance before speaking,"Um Bakura, what are you doing? You're making me spill my taco everywhere. And I kind of don't want to pay the taco man another five dollars." He then looked up at Bakura. He stared into the mans eyes, those dark brown eyes had always made him lose his train of thought and go blank, every single time. He looked away quickly as his face turned red. "W-what? Is there food all over my face again?" He managed to say.
"Nothing, just looking at you." Bakura calmly stated, his arms around Marik tightened, making Mariks small blush spread to his whole face. He leaned in closer and kissed the top of Mariks head. "Ready to go home? It's a bit of a long walk and we are without an umbrella." Bakura slipped off his trench coat and put it on Mariks head, shielding him from the rain, at least until the rain would sink through the fabric.
"Of course Fluffy." Marik smiled and took Bakuras hand. They walked hastily towards their home. Bakura didn't mind the rain as much, he felt it soothing as it washed over him, it let him think more clearly and almost made him sentimental. Marik on the other hand didn't care for any weather conditions unless it was sunny. To think a man who spent his entire life in the dessert would only like the hot sun and despise the cool rain.
The rain had successfully drenched both of them and left them shivering by the time they reached the apartment. The apartment felt warm compared to the outside temperature, it instantly helped Marik stop shaking. He walked into the kitchen and opened the door next to the stove, the washroom. He opened the dryer door and put Bakuras soaked trench coat inside, and turned on the machine.
"I wish I could be that coat." Bakuras voice came form the kitchen, he was still shivering.
"Why would you want to be a coat Bakura?" Marik asked puzzled.
"I mean it would be nice to be instantly warm, like the coat. I didn't actually mean I wanted to be a coat Marik." Bakura explained grumpily.
"Oh." Marik smiled. "That makes sense. I'll be right back Fluffy." Marik walked past Bakura and looked back at him taking his shirt off before entering the bedroom.
Bakura had thought it would be a good idea to get the wet clothes off of his body, but it only made him more cold. All that remained on Bakuras body was his millennium necklace, it was ice cold and added to the chilliness. He stood in the kitchen for a few minutes, waiting for Marik to return. After getting impatient, he walked into the bedroom: it was empty and quiet. Looking around, his mind quickly raced to Melvin, what if he had come back and had taken over Marik? He stormed into the bathroom, ready to defend against Melvins possible attacks. He stood there, feeling dumbfounded as he looked at Marik who was kneeling over the tub. He was setting rose petals in the tub which was filled with water, water that was probably the temperature just high enough to melt your skin off. Bakura didn't notice the rose petals, the hot bath, or the wet clothes tossed in the corner of the room. What he noticed first was that Marik was naked as well, his skin was still wet from the rain. Bakura stepped closer, wanting to touch Mariks soft and wet skin, he felt a tightening below his stomach.
Marik stood up and looked Bakura over, "I see you already undressed yourself." He grinned, "That was supposed to be my job."
"I put my clothes in the washer, I figured it would be better than getting the kitchen floor wet. What is all this?" His face looked devilishly handsome as his mouth spread into a mischievous grin.
"Well you were cold, so I thought you would like a nice hot bath." Marik smiled innocently.
"You are going to join me aren't you?" Bakura said slowly as he put his arms around Marik and traced the tattoo up and down Mariks back. He pulled Marik closer to himself and felt the warmth that came from him, it was intoxicating; it made him want to throw Marik onto their bed in the next room and take him.
As Bakura was lost in his thoughts, Marik closed his eyes and pressed his head into Bakuras chest, he was just slightly shorter than Bakura. "Of course." He said as he wrapped him arms around the pale seducer and felt something touch him below the waist, it shocked him at first, Bakuras arms were still around him. After a second he realized what it was and grinned, "I think the water has cooled down for us to get in."
Bakura walked over to the sink first and set his millennium necklace attentively on the counter before walking back to Marik. The two naked villains slowly got in the hot tub, with Marik in front of Bakura whose arms were wrapped around Marik, holding him close. The room was hot, as were their bodies, having been warmed up by being pressed so close to each other. Bakuras face was red, it blended perfectly down to his neck that mixed with his pale flesh. "Marik." He worked his hands down Mariks body, savoring each and every inch of soft skin he felt as his hands moved.
Marik threw his head back into Bakuras chest and looked up at him, his face was also red and he looked short of breath as if the thick aroma of the preserved roses and lust had stolen his breath away. "Bakura?" He closed his eyes for a moment as he felt Bakuras hands touch his erection. He longed for Bakuras warm touch since earlier that morning, and whenever he felt Bakuras strangely warm hands on him, it was a struggle to think clearly.
Bakura leaned closer to Mariks face as he softly said, "I love you." His hands working up and down on Mariks member as Mariks face reddened, his breathing turning into light panting.
"I love you too." Marik smiled and his face looked weak as Bakura kept going. "Wait." He said shyly.
Bakura stopped at once, "Is something wrong?" Wondering if him finally saying the phrase his tongue had kept out for so long had scared Marik.
Marik turned his position so he was still in Bakuras lap, but facing towards him. "I just wanted to face towards you." He smiled and put his hands on Bakuras chest, slowly bringing them down towards Bakuras warmest spot.
"O-oh." Bakura closed his eyes and a small moan broke through his smiling lips.
"Is that ok?" Marik asked looking up at Bakura, his smile matching Bakuras, still tugging on Bakuras hard member.
"Yes." Bakura could barely manage to say. His face grew hotter and hotter by the second. He put his hands on Mariks hips and in sync, Marik lifted himself up and onto Bakuras erection. Both men gave out a small moan as the two became one. Bakuras hands still on Mariks hips, pulled Marik close to him and they both kissed while Marik moved up and down onto Bakura. In the small tub, by all the movement, waves of water started to form and it felt as if the water was moving along with them. As the two kept kissing passionately, Bakura moved one of his hands onto Mariks warmth, making Marik give out another moan through their kisses. Time seemed to have no affect in the room, the air was thick with steam and desire.
Marik lifted his head and looked into the brown eyes that pierced his soul. "Bakura, I- I think I'm going to come." This was more an invitation to Bakura to keep going, he started to move his waist up and down more quicker as he moved his hand on Marik to the same rhythm as his body, making Marik shout.
"I am too." Bakura said in a rough yet alluring voice.
Almost at the same time, both men gave way, both shouting a little bit with Marik being the louder one. Then Marik collapsed into Bakuras arms and they laid there still, as the water calmed down with them. Although half of the water had left the tub from the movement and onto the tiled floor. Marik smiled and kissed Bakuras chest, "I love you Bakura." No one had ever made Marik as truly happy as Bakura did; the fact that Bakura had said the one phrase in the world he thought he would never say anyone, and had said it to Marik had told him that Bakura had honestly meant he felt the same way.
Bakura tightened his hold on Marik, even though there was no getting closer than they already were. "I love you too Marik." He kissed the top of Mariks head and laid his head back against the back of the tub.
Marik was the first to move next after a few minutes, he pulled the stopper out of the tub and the water drained slowly. He sat up slowly and got to his feet, offering his hand to Bakura.
"Why did you drain the tub?" He asked puzzled as he took Mariks hand and got to his feet.
"I thought we should shower all of that tub water off. I love taking baths with you, but I always feel dirty still afterwards, don't you? I feel a shower would be nice too."
"True." Bakura said and turned the knob to the shower, it took him a little effort for the stubborn knob to move to the center of the temperature gauge so as not to burn their skin off.
The shower made a hissing screech as the water spout from the shower head, making Marik flinch dramatically. "Gah I hate this shower! It always jumps me with that horrid scream." He poked the shower head angrily.
"We'll get it fixed soon, I'm no repair man but it shouldn't be too much trouble to find someone to fix it." Bakura said calmly as he picked up a shampoo bottle and poured the nearly translucent gel onto his hand; he put some onto his and Mariks hair and started scrubbing Mariks hair while Marik started to rub Bakuras hair.
"Thanks for the pampering beauty service." Marik remarked while smiling widely. He looked Bakura over again, his eyes landed on a wet bandage on Bakuras side. How could have he forgotten about that? Maybe it was the sensual desire he had felt earlier that had made him not see it and instead other parts of Bakuras body. He lightly touched the bandage, Bakura stopped washing Mariks hair and took Mariks hand with both of his.
"It's OK Marik. It doesn't hurt." He took Mariks hand and pressed against it, attempting to make him feel better.
"You really aren't bothered by it?" Marik asked in a low voice.
"Of course not, you didn't do it." Bakura kissed Marik and then went back to washing his hair. He rinsed Mariks hair and then used Mariks special conditioner imported from Egypt. "I still don't get why you use this weird shampoo, Mane and Tail? It sounds like a horse shampoo."
"Pfft of course not! It is just some high end conditioner I found in Egypt and ever since I cannot find one that matches its strength in making my hair shine!" Marik pointed to the sky again, but he accidentally got some soap in his eyes. "Gah curses! See Bakura? That's the Gods telling me that I am right!" He said in his best villain voice.
Bakura sighed and rinsed Mariks hair and wiped the soap away from his eyes. "Whatever you say my love."
"That better not be my new evil nickname Fluffy." Marik said in a faux demanding tone, as long he was called that in the confines of their apartment fortress, he wouldn't mind one bit.
"And Fluffy is a good villain name?" Bakura asked crossing his arms.
"Of course!" Marik scrubbed Bakuras body until he was a white shining beacon of pale skin and hair.
When they had finished their shower, Bakura turned off the shower and grabbed two fluffy towels and handed one to Marik. He also threw a number of towels on the floor to soak up half of the tub water that had spilled out from earlier. He dried himself off quickly and went to the sink to brush his teeth. "What is this?" Bakura asked perplexed as he picked up an unused tea bag.
Marik dropped his towel from laughing and spoke through his shrill bursts of laughter. "I was gonna put that in your bath as a joke! I just kind of got preoccupied before I could do it."
The two spoke at the same time for the next sentence, Bakura in a grumpy tone and Marik in a high tone. "Because I'm British." "Because you're British!"
Bakura threw the tea bag into the trash and gave a small smile, hoping Marik would not see his face. It was sort of funny, in a stupid kind of way. He brushed his teeth alongside Marik and they both exited the bathroom when they were done. Bakura looked at the clock: It was half past nine. He put his hand on his head, had they spent that much time in the bathroom? Though part of him wasn't surprised.
"So what do you want to do tonight? It's nine-thirty." Bakura asked as he slipped on some fuzzy blue sky and white cloudy pajama pants.
"I could play a video game!" Marik shouted excitedly. "I got this one game that apparently I never opened, it looks really cool!" He held up a game case that Bakura couldn't make out from across the room.
"What's it about?" Bakura asked as he took the top blanket from the bed. He and Marik made their way to the living room where they had a TV with multiple game systems hooked up to it. Since Marik didn't have much to entertain himself in his previous home, he made it almost a rule to obtain as many game systems he could to experience a gamers life when he and Bakura had moved in.
"Well the title is Haunting Ground, and all I know is that you get a dog companion to help you out in the game! I've always wanted a sidekick in a horror game! I'm gonna name him Hewie! We have Willard the rat, the bird, and now Hewie the dog!" Marik ranted on as he put the game into the PS2.
"What made you think of a name like that?" He knew not to question how Marik thought. Marik could start a story about the Loch Ness monster and then by the time he finished talking he would stray so far from the topic it went to something bizarre like why do comedians mostly talk about food and sex.
"Oh you know those little ducks in the Disney shows? I named him after one of them." Marik smiled at Bakura innocently.
Bakura shook his head and closed his eyes. "Ok, now start the game, I would like to see you jump more at these horror games you willingly torture yourself with."
The game was indeed of the extreme horror genre. It started with Mariks person trapped in a cage, with only a sheet to cover his character which was a girl and he constantly booed at her to "Get some damn clothes on!" Until he found some clothes in a room within the mansion. The game involved a girl being kidnapped and trapped in a huge castle mixed with a mansion with some of the house guests chasing after her while she could only hide because of her frailness. Until she finds and aids an injured dog who joins her by her side to escape the mansion, who coincidentally name was Hewie, which made Marik want to play the game even more. It didn't seem so scary to Marik until a crazed person would chase him throughout the confusing layout of the castle, and when he hid, the screen would change to the eyes of the person hiding while he heard the killer looking around the room for him. It jumped him a lot and made him scream a few times.
"I don't know how in the world you are going to sleep tonight." Bakura shook his head again before remarking to Marik, "Stop hiding in the same bloody spot! They remember that sort of stuff Marik!"
"But Bakura! I don't think I have enough time to hide somewhere else!" Marik shouted back to Bakura, his eyes wide open and still staring at the screen.
"That's what the dog is for. Use your Hewie to kick some killer ass." Bakura had unexpectedly gotten into the game as well, though he didn't want to let it on to Marik.
After Marik had gotten to a save point, he set down the controller and laid backwards onto the floor, he had been sitting in front of Bakura the whole time, mostly so Bakura didn't see his scared expressions whenever he played horror games. "I think I need to give the PS2 and TV a break, it's getting late and the game system is getting really hot." He had made the excuse so he didn't have to be anxious for another second. He quickly jammed the power button and sat on the couch next to Bakura who was bundled in a blanket. "We can watch a movie though." He smiled as he opened the blanket and scooted under the warmth of the fabric.
"I thought it was getting late?" Bakura grinned and looked at Marik, he liked catching Marik in his lies.
"Well yeah but, it would help me sleep." Marik fumbled for the right words.
Bakura smiled darkly, " What movie? I vote Cannibal Holocaust."
"Geez Bakura haven't we watched that three times already? What about a Disney movie? You know something happy or whatever."
"Disney movies are not happy." Bakura slid his body so he was sitting horizontally on the couch to face Marik.
"What do you mean?" Marik scooted between Bakuras legs and into his lap.
"For starters, someone or something always dies. You call that happy?" Bakura looked down at Marik.
"Not the Little Mermaid!" Marik protested.
"It's implied that the girls mother was viciously killed by pirates, and then there was a shipwreck and who knows if one guy was in the bathroom while all that happened."
"Hmm true."
"In my opinion, it makes the movies better." Bakura smiled.
"Of course you would say that." Marik said as he sat up and grabbed the remote.
They watched the Hunchback of Notre Dame and when it was over, Bakura had to wake Marik up who fell asleep for some of the movie. He turned off the TV and grabbed the blanket as well. "Marik, come on you need to go to bed. I already told you once."
"Bakura I told you no more spaghetti." Marik mumbled while rubbing his closed eyes.
Bakura put the blanket neatly on the bed and had to come back into the living room to grab Marik. He picked up the light Egyptian man and took him to their bed.
"Bakura, didn't I tell you?" Marik said sleepily.
"Tell me what Marik?" Bakura asked as he put Marik down on the bed and covered him with the blankets.
"No one dies in a Disney movie. It was all happy wasn't it?"
"Marik, someone died in the first two minutes, a baby was threatened to be killed, the two main characters were almost hung and then another person dies. But yes it was a happy movie if you want to call it that." Bakura said as he crawled into bed as well, turning off the light next to their bed and he kissed Marik on the head before spooning him.
"Oh OK good, I was right. Good night kitty." Marik smiled and fell asleep completely.
"Not a kitty. But I'll get you in the morning anyway my love. Good night Marik." Bakura said softly and nuzzled his head against Marik and fell asleep.
Well that was a ton of fun to write! I hope you all enjoyed and please no bad comments! Next chapter will be out hopefully soon! :)
