Third Person p.o.v.
"Wait a minute! You are telling me that by the time you arrived at the coordinates Jackson had already fled? That he had escaped and despite you chasing the car you thought was his you still managed to lose them?"
"We followed an SUV for about three hours before we lost track of it. We put out an APB so there is no chance that that vehicle will be able to stay hidden for much longer. We are doing everything we can. We have multiple teams that will rip apart that house until we find evidence that may take us to their next location."
"And if you can't find evidence?" Lisa was well past being calm and collected.
"Rippner can't have been more than half an hour ahead of us. We have teams across the state looking for him and airports and docks have been notified to be on the lookout. There is no chance that Rippner will be able to leave the country with your sister."
"That's a start, I suppose…" Joe didn't sound too sure, and on the inside his anger was beginning to bubble up, but he knew that he needed to stay calm. Detective Nicks was trying his best as were the men that were attaching tracers to the phone lines and internet connection in case Jackson got in contact.
"No! The longer Amanda is with him the worse state she will be in if you ever manage to find her!"
"Miss Reisert, Rippner didn't kill your sister last time so it is less likely that he would murder her now when he as gone to all of the trouble to kidnap her again. A psychologist has studied the information on Rippner and has identified that he will feel a potential connection to Amanda and that is why he has taken her."
"You know what?" Lisa slammed her hands on the table and stood up. She hobbled around to Nicks' left side and spoke clearly. "You can laugh at me and pull those ridiculous expressions behind my back when I say something, but let me tell you a home truth, detective. You know Jackson from a piece of paper and a news headline... I know Jackson from spending hours trapped on a flight with him whilst he threatened the life of everyone that I loved! I know Jackson because he kidnapped my baby sister once before! I was the one that put him behind bars last time and ruined his plans whilst you all sat behind a desk drinking coffee."
"Now, wait just a minute-"
"NO! I know exactly how horrid this bastard can be and you won't pay attention to what I say because I have no badge clipped to my chest. Well, let me tell you something, I know his guy better than any of you and if you screw this up then it won't be us paying the price; it will be my sister! She wears a great mask but inside she is so broken and delicate! You need to listen to me and tread carefully otherwise he will crush her just because you slipped up! Think about that." Nicks let out a sigh of exasperation, gave a respectful nod in her direction and swiftly exited the kitchen without a second glance.
"Lisa-"
"No, dad! Time is running out for Amanda. Jackson may not kill her, but who knows how she is feeling on the inside right now. We both know that Amanda has the potential to harm herself a hell of a lot more than Jackson ever could."
Amanda's p.o.v.
It had felt like hours, although it was likely only a handful of minutes, before Caz let up and allowed my face to leave his lap. I sneered at his always smirking face and wiped my cheek with the sleeve of my sweatshirt. He was exactly like the men I despised; all about getting a girl underneath him to make his ego feel better. However, a small part of me was pleased that he appeared to be a lot easier to handle than Jackson. Perhaps he could be my ticket out of here? Distract him with an overload of compliments and a bit of attention then bam! Make a run for it. I suppose that was the naïve part of me that thought it would be that easy. Even though he had presented himself to be a man of simple tastes, there was a darkness in his eyes that even Jackson did not possess. Jackson would have been smarter than to leave me in the care of someone that would be distracted easily…
No, I need to be wise about this. I need to study him further before trying to guess the kind of man he was. From his shark-like smile alone, I could tell that many had made the mistake of underestimating him.
"Amanda?" I turned my head to the front and saw Jackson had unbuckled his seat and turned to look right into my eyes. "Lost in thought?"
"Just deliberating on how to hurt you when this is over."
"Oooh, I hope you make it original. A gunshot wound or pen to the throat is so last year."
"I'll keep that in mind."
"Caz, go see that Mike has everything set up. I'll get our little hostage ready for the journey." Caz blew me an air kiss and exited the car; he walked off into the distance and disappeared around a corner. Jackson suddenly appeared at the open door and motioned for me to come closer. I let out an annoyed huff and did my best to shuffle over to him. It wouldn't be clever for me to try and fight him now with my hands tied behind my back. He helped me stand and shut the door behind me quietly. I looked around and noticed that we were really in the middle of nowhere; I couldn't see anything other than the road we had travelled on and the plain looking warehouse that was in front of us. Caz had sauntered around the side of the building and appeared to have called out to someone. Apart from us, there seemed to be no sign of life anywhere.
"Jackson, I know you aren't in the business of making people feel comfortable, but would you tell me what this Caz is like? He's holding back on me, I know he is."
"Aw, does Amanda feel unsafe because of the new guy? Or does Amanda have a little crush and wants to know how to make Caz tick?"
"I knew I shouldn't have bothered…" I muttered under my breath. Maybe I saw stupid for thinking that he would give me peace of mind, but it was worth a shot. Caz was undeniably handsome - much like Jackson - but that was just a mask that hid a demon. His boyish, flirty personality and strong posture would fool people into trusting him or thinking him as being a little stupid, and then when they'd least expect it, he'd drive a knife into their back and watch their life drain away. I couldn't afford to let myself be on the end of that blade.
"Look, Mandy, Caz isn't someone you want to play with. Whatever plans are going through that pretty mind of yours need to be stopped. Caz doesn't give second chances to people that play with him."
"Who said I wanted to play with him?"
"Oh, please! The moment he walked through the door you were studying him to figure how much of a bad guy he was, and let me tell you now, he knows what you were doing!" Jackson leaned in close to my ear as he whispered his last words. "Caz isn't a bad guy… he's the worst guy." I didn't know why, but his words sent a shiver down my spine. If Jackson could say this about his new partner then I knew he wasn't kidding. One thing about Jackson that I had learnt recently was that he didn't lie. Sure, he'd leave out certain bits of information and reveal himself when the time was right, but he didn't lie or cover-up whatever plan he had.
"Hey, Rippner! Time to go." Caz shouted from around the corner as a loud whirring sound began. We moved around the warehouse to where a private jet was situated. "How do you like your new transport?"
"It's suitable. Where's Mike?"
"Here, boss!" As if on cue a greying man in slacks and a shirt came out of the warehouse to greet us. "Is everything to your liking?"
"You've done your job well." Jackson seemed pleased and wrapped his arm around my shoulders; my body instinctively tensed. "I'll just settle our companion onto the plane." I was led up to the white business jet and he kept a good grip on my shoulder as he moved me in front of him and up the steps. The cabin was very plain; the carpet was a light beige colour and the leather chairs matched. The seats were single file with a small walkway in between that led to a door that I assume was the toilet. On both sides of the walkway there were two seats that faced each other with a small table in between them; two single seats were at the back on either side of the toilet door. "Sit." I sat down on the chair that faced the cockpit on the right side; Jackson settled himself opposite me. A loud shout turned my attention to the window next to me; Caz and Mike appeared to be arguing. Mike turned his back on Caz and began to storm towards the plane; he barely got more than two feet away when Caz brought a gun out from behind his back and delivered two shots into Mike. Caz tucked the gun away with a grin and stepped over the twitching body of Mike to make his way onto the plane. I ignored him as he sat down in the seat to my left and carried on watching the man that was slowly bleeding to death on the runway. I'd never witnessed something so brutal and heartless before; Mike was still moving!
"We'll be long gone by the time they find him… and Mike will be very dead within the hour."
"What did he say?" Jackson sounded genuinely puzzled. My eyes didn't leave the man on the ground and I didn't even flinch as a pair of hands buckled me in.
"He wanted more money than we originally agreed. Besides, we don't need any loose ends and he was hardly a trustworthy man."
"Well done, Caz… although I think you've spooked our little girl." I continued to ignore their gaze and stayed looking out of the window; I didn't need them to see the stubborn tears that had fallen down my cheeks or how hard it was for me to breathe at that moment. Soon the bloodstained man disappeared from my view as the plane finally took off. The silence continued within the cabin with my choked breathing the only sound that could be heard.
"Time to get your belt off, princess." This time I did flinch as Caz appeared in my line of sight and unbuckled the belt. He pressed another one of his revolting kisses to my cheek and wiped my face. "Sorry for scaring you." The glee in his voice told me that he wasn't sorry at all.
"Did you have to kill him?" I asked despite already knowing what his answer would be.
"Yes. As I said, we don't need any loose ends." Caz moved back into his chair and turned it around so that he could face me.
"I've just got confirmation from the decoy team: we're in the clear." Jackson threw his phone onto the table between us, took off his jacket and reclined back in his seat. "Time for a bit of relaxation before we start all of this again."
"Amanda, give me your wrists." Caz didn't wait for my reply and took a penknife out of this suit pocket; he grabbed my hands and sliced the rope so that it dropped behind me. I didn't thank him and merely stretched my arms out in front of me to regain the small amount of feeling that I had lost.
"What happened to the girl?"
"Abby?" I nodded as Jackson looked at me. "You really want to know?"
"She's dead then?"
"Gunshot to the back of a head… she wouldn't have felt a thing."
"Does anyone know where she is?" I felt a lump in my throat at the thought of the poor girl that had died well before her time.
"The boys would have left her by the side of the road next to the abandoned truck. She'll be found if the police do their job properly."
"Like an animal hit by a car? Just left to rot?" She was left like she was nothing more than roadkill?!
"Amanda, stop thinking about her if it upsets you. I do have a sedative with me so don't make me use it. We both know how awful it makes you feel once you come down from it." Despite a large portion of me wanting to ask more questions, an even bigger side of my mind agreed with Jackson. I really did not want to experience the aftereffects of the sedative right now.
Once again the cabin settled into an uncomfortable silence. Jackson reclined in his chair whilst Caz leant forwards with his elbows resting on his knees; his cool gaze remained on my face. I could see his mouth fight to stop from smirking every time I shifted uncomfortably at his intense stare.
This was going to be a long journey… not that I knew where we were going.
However, with how Caz had become so intent on watching my every move, even a half hour plane ride would be too long.
"I need to freshen up." I didn't even wait for instructions and basically ran to the door at the back of the cabin; I was thankful that my prediction was right and I quickly moved to close the bathroom door behind me.
"Do not even think about locking it." I bit back a retort and pressed the door shut. I sat down on the closed lid of the toilet and took in a few deep breaths. I could feel the familiar sensation in the back of my mind which signalled a breakdown that I had been avoiding. I couldn't show myself to be so weak in front of them again. They had seen too many of my tears already, but it was so exhausting holding them in! My eyes stung as I tried my hardest to fight the sobs that wanted to overcome me. I splashed water in my face in an attempt to keep myself from breaking… it didn't work. I hit the floor with a dull thud and curled myself into a small ball. My tears wet my pants as I bit on the loose fabric to try and stifle my cries.
I just wanted to go home.
I'd had enough. I was so tired that it was almost painful to keep up with their antics. I could shrug off Jackson's attempts at touching me but I was screaming within my own mind as I remembered how he had…
Say it.
I shook my head in defiance even though I really wanted to face it.
Say it. Say what he did to you.
He… forced me-
No. SAY. IT.
He r-raped me. I had gotten drunk and let him-
Do not blame yourself. It was never your fault.
Jackson is the monster. Not me! He took advantage of my vulnerable state and I was too weak to stop the game that he wished to play.
And Caz?
I could pretend to accept his flirty behaviour before, but when I saw the cold look on his face as he shot that man… he was dangerous. He was-
"Amanda?" Speak of the Devil and he shall appear. Caz opened up the door and raised his eyebrows at the sight of me at his feet. He knelt down slowly and wiped away my tears once again. Had I not seen him murder a man with no remorse then I might have wondered if he truly cared about me. I knew better now though. "You're ruining your face with all of those tears." I noticed that his eyes traced the scar on my right cheek with some sort of strange tenderness before his mask returned. "Come on. If you're a good girl, I might even let you sit on my knee for a little while." I removed my hand from his grip as he pulled me up and moved past him. The leather of the seat softened my fall as I literally threw myself into the seat. "I think she's beginning to like me, Jackson."
Third Person p.o.v.
Detective Tyler shouted further orders to his team as the lack of evidence began to frustrate him. The smashed window and odd smears of blood that were on the driveway gave him very little to go on. Of course, he hadn't expected Rippner to set up house in this place, but he was sure he would slip up somewhere along the line. However, that may have been wishful thinking. After being on Rippner's case for the last ten years, he should have known better. Rippner would have left DNA evidence of Amanda's for him to find, but any clues as to where he had taken her would have been long gone. Jackson liked the chase far too much.
"Sir?" Susan, an experienced forensic scientist, approached him with a sour look on her face. "We've found a bin that has bloody bandages in. From the looks of it, the wounds don't appear to be fatal as there wasn't a major amount of blood on them. They'll be analysed at the lab but I am sure that they were on the Reisert girl."
"Anything else?"
"These." Susan held up a plastic bag where a small number of clear tubes rolled clanged against each other at the bottom. "They are sedatives, so it looks like the girl is either being drugged for the sake of it or is causing Rippner more trouble than he intended."
"Good work. Keep looking." Tyler gave her a short nod as she stepped past him to take the evidence to the van for safe storage. He ran a hand through his brown hair and entered the house. He had three teams scouring this place from top to bottom; he refused to believe there wasn't at least one clue!
"Sir?" Another forensic scientist called from upstairs; Tyler entered a bedroom that looked to have been used. There was barely anything in here, but there was a scatter of female clothes on the floor and the sheets were crumpled on the bed. Amanda had obviously been kept in here. "It looks to be just one set of clothes so she was either wearing the same outfit for the time she spent here, or Rippner wanted us to find these." Tom spoke up from beside his friend with a sad smile. "There was evidence of…"
"Of?" Tyler motioned for his trusted colleague to continue.
"It would seem that some form of sexual act was performed in here; we've taken swabs from a small stain on the sheets that will tell us more."
"He raped her?"
"It looks like a possibility, Tyler."
"Damn him to Hell." He whispered under his breath and shook his head.
"An empty bottle of vodka was on the bedside table. She probably wouldn't have been able to fight back even if she had wanted to."
"He played on her past addiction?"
"Yes. Jackson isn't known for drinking too much, so it's a safe bet to say that Amanda was given the bottle." Tom had been partnered on Tyler's cases for many years now; he too was familiar with Rippner and his business.
"It would appear that our need to find her is even bigger than ever. I had hoped that he had formed a bond with the girl and that's why he took her again. I was wrong… this is about domination and power." Tyler's phone interrupted his speech and he picked it up without question. Please let this be good news. "Tyler."
"Sir…"
"Spit it out, Ramirez." Tyler had no patience for the rookie that stumbled over his words on the phone.
"We-we've found a body and a vehicle." His blood seemed to freeze in his body as he heard the dreadful words that he never wished to hear. He had made a pledge to himself that Rippner wouldn't get away with anymore murders. Had he failed already?
"Where?"
'To find myself again
My walls are closing in
(without a sense of confidence and I'm convinced that there's just too much pressure to take)
I've felt this way before
So insecure'

AN: Hello!
Welcome back to Amanda's journey! This chapter has a lot of things going on as we see Lisa losing her temper at the progress the police has made, Amanda dealing with her captors as well as her beginning to try and face what happened to her back at the old house, and Detective Tyler who may be brought into the story as an extra character, but right now he is just working as a hint of what is happening away from Amanda and Lisa! I don't know an awful lot about law enforcement, particularly USA law enforcement, so if I write something that isn't completely correct then I apologise - however, I think getting to see what is happening within the FBI/police investigations will add a little more meat to the bones of the story ^.^
So, it looks like Amanda is beginning to face her reality. She has been kidnapped by two men that are completely unpredictable and dangerous. I want to tackle the rape issue in the most delicate way that I can. In this chapter Amanda is finally starting to accept what happened to her, but she is still facing major denial. I don't expect her to think about what Jackson did to her a lot just because she is still trying to survive what is currently happening and she knows that she needs to keep a clear head, despite how unhealthy it is for her to bottle up her emotions. I think her making herself say the word rape is the first step for her and as we saw it took a lot of her to have the courage to break through the barrier. Also, I wanted to show you a new side of Caz. I've hinted to him being quite the erratic and violent individual and we are beginning to see his mask slip. He is definitely going to be a force for Amanda to contend with, but will she continue with her plan to try and undermine him once she gets a better idea of the kind of monster he is?
Finally, can I just quickly remind you of the poll on my page? It will help me decide on just how to end this story and right now two choices are very close together - although I've been penning down an idea today that I think will definitely be an ending possibility as I now need to include Caz into the mix and the idea works so well! Now, that I'm back on updating this story, I shall probably leave the poll up until the next chapter and then take it down. So, if you want to perhaps see an ending that pleases you, make sure to have your say!
Anyways, I hope you enjoy this chapter! I've thoroughly enjoyed typing up this chapter which is a great indication for my buzz returning to this story. Can I just say that I read through some of Revenge Part 1 whilst editing this chapter... Jeez, I don't know how you all managed to read through that. I feel like getting rid of it and re-writing it, but I also think it's a great point of reference to show how my writing has improved so much since then! I just... thank you if you read that and still came to the sequel with positive thoughts! haha I hope to write about 15-20 chapters in total for this story and 15 chapters isn't far off so I'd say 17 chapters is a bit more realistic for me to write a finish that doesn't seem too rushed! A big thank you to the reviewers of the previous chapter: ShadowSpade, BW4eva, Guest and trudes193! It means so much to me to know that you're sticking by me after the lengthy break that I took!
Don't forget to R&R this chapter! I love hearing from you all.
Have a nice day,
Mikki xx
