1.10- this is love: Monday.
[ Ben undergoes surgery. Mark and Lexie adopt. Meredith and Derek want to have another baby.]
Meredith's voiceover: How do you deal with it? The realization of it all. The realization that the carousel will never stop turning. The realization that this is love. Love comes in all sorts of different ways, but one thing that is permeant in love is that it is full of every single type of complication that you can find and panic every second of each hour.
S1- The OAR gallery.
Meredith: You never think it's the last time until it really is. You think that you have forever but you don't.
Bailey: Grey, I appreciate you trying to try to help me out but Derek and Ben aren't the same.
Meredith: Okay, so, what can I do Dr. Bailey? I hate just being helpless here. I want to do something, anything for you if you need me.
Bailey: There isn't anything you can do right now to help me. What you can do is help the people who can accept help.
Meredith: You really want me to leave?
Bailey: I think that I just need to be alone until Ben is okay.
Meredith: My husband is a very good neuro surgeon.
Bailey: I know that. I've worked with Derek for years but as I taught you and my other interns, there are no guarantees.
Meredith: Okay. I'm going, but Bailey, you forgot one thing.
Bailey: What's that?
Meredith: The guarantee in love is that it's love and it's real, it might be amazing, and it might be terrifying, but it's love. I've learned it's something worth having so every time you love knocks you down, you have to get up and fight for the love of your life.
*leaves*
Bailey: Damn it, Shepard, you really need to pull this off.
S2- The pit.
Nurse: Dr. Grey, Dr. Sloan has paged you three times.
Meredith: Does it have anything to do with the other Dr. Grey's condition? Has her status changed? What's wrong?
Nurse: No. It isn't that. He just keeps paging you to Lexie Grey's room. It is not a 911 page which means it is highly unlikely that something has gone wrong with Dr. Grey.
Meredith: That's good because she's getting discharged tomorrow. Thank you. I will be there in a minute. Hey Amy? How are you?
Amelia: I was afraid this would happen.
Meredith: What would happen?
Amelia: You been nice to me after I told you who I really am.
Meredith: Amy...
Amelia: It's Amelia. Only Derek gets to call me Amy.
Meredith: Yeah. That's right.
Addison: I am a miracle worker a Rockstar!
Amelia: Tell us something we don't know. Wait, why are you are such a Rockstar on this particular morning?
Addison: Because I bring life into this word like it's just a common occurrence. It's like ' hey, you just had a baby. No worries, I'm here to save the day'.
Amelia: You haven't worked at Seattle Grace in like what a million years?
Addison: I came back last year and got special privileges for a lot of surgeries. It's not like you've spent twenty years working at this place either.
Amelia: But I'm the other Dr. Shepard and you are the brilliant Dr. Addison Montgomery that has a job in L.A.
Addison: I know that, but for real, I've missed this place. You know Meredith and I worked together back in the day?
Amelia: Addie, that's impossible. She was an intern when you were an attending here.
Addison: Do you remember the swanky intern that Nancy kept talking about at the Christmas party that one year?
Amelia: Wait, what? Meredith is the swanky intern that everyone kept talking about at that Christmas party. This might just give me an actual reason to call Nancy up to ask her about it!
Addison: Yep. I have special privileges for the rest of the day because Chief Bailey likes me. I talked to her for a couple minutes after you left, Mer. She's a wreck but Ben will be okay.
Meredith: Yes! That reminds me. I have Bailey to go check on and Mark to go see. The swanky intern has to leave.
Amelia and Addison at the same time: Bye!
S3- Lexie's room.
Meredith: I'm so sorry I wasn't here earlier, Mark! How is Lexie? Is she okay? I got held up at the pit talking to Addison and Amelia.
Mark: Just come see.
Meredith: What is it? *sees the baby* Oh my gosh! Um... how did this happen? She's adopted right?
Lexie: Yes. She is. Isn't she a cutie?
Meredith: She's almost as cute as your niece. What's her name?
Mark: We were thinking that we wanted to name her Meredith Elle Sloan.
Meredith: I think she is a perfect Meredith. I wish Derek were here for this but he's in a very important surgery.
Mark: I know. Me too.
Meredith: I have to go check on Bailey now that I've checked on you guys, but I want to spare myself a couple minutes to ask you guys a question. How did all of this happen?
Mark: Well, do you see that doctor out there talking to the new intern transfer?
Meredith: Yes.
Mark: She was the one that gave us our baby. We didn't have any problems with the adoption agency, because apparently, there is this thing in Obestrics that OB's have the right to override the adoption agency if they feel that a family is right for a child. The mother ran away a few days ago and left the baby in the NICU. Dr. Deluca saw the baby and just knew. So she called m outside of Lex's room for a second to come see her. I just knew from the first second I saw here that that's my second child.
Meredith: That's amazing! I'm so happy for both of you. I love you Lex. * hugs her*. Okay, it's now time for me to do my minutely check-ups on Bailey.
Lexie: Bye Mer.
S4- The supplies closet.
Callie: What are you doing Dr. Blake? I am married to Robbins! Your superior! I'd like to also tell you that I am friends with every single one of your superiors including Dr. Shepard, do you rember him? You saved his life!
Penny: I am sorry if what I'm doing offends you, but I felt a connection between us. I did! I think that you have felt it too!
Callie: Dr. Blake, I'm going to stop you right there before you damage your career at Seattle Grace. There is no connection. You are my intern and you're working on Eli June's case with me. This is not how you are supposed to act as someone I put on such an important case to me!
* Arizona walks in*.
Callie: Arizona, this is NOT what it looks like!
Arizona: Well, sorry to interrupt you and your interns private meeting. I just thought you would want to know that Eli June has been experiencing leg pain. That's not good after an amputation like his. I'm worried something may be wrong. Karev is observing this case because he is the chief of pediatrics, but he told me that he has been experiencing leg pain when I was outside his room.
Callie: Okay Arizona. Thank you for telling me. * Arizona opens the door and they all walk out*.
Penny: Uh, Dr. Torres, I'll go give Eli some pain meds just to ease the pain for a little while until you devise a plan.
Callie: Okay. Arizona, please slow down! I need to talk to you.
Arizona: What possibly could you say that would make that supply closet situation any better?
Callie: I need you to listen to me when I say this. There is absolutely nothing going on between Penny and I, there won't be any other universe where there is. I love you. I want to order pizza for dinner with Sofia to tell her about her new little sister. I want you to be there in the moment with me and be happy. It's been a long time since you've been truly happy. I love you. I'm here for you.
Arizona: That was pretty good. I'll see you at home later. I need to go update a parent on their baby's immature lungs, and the newfound complication of digestive problems they have along the road.
* They touch hands slightly*.
Callie: Okay.
S5- The OAR.
Derek: Dr. Edwards.
Stephanie: Yes sir.
Derek: We have now entered the last part of Warren's surgery. I corrected his sub-arachnoid hemorrhage, his midline brain sheerings, and his contusions. It's time for you to do something.
Stephanie: Me? Did you say me sir?
Derek: Well, do you want to be a neurosurgeon or not? This is how you learn.
Stephanie: Yes. I do. What can I do?
Derek: I am going to guide you along as you correct his 4.0 length skull fracture. You're ready for this. The other Dr. Grey speaks incredibly high of you. In my book that makes you my best student. She told me that you guys were training for this moment so don't make her regret what she told me.
Stephanie: No sir.
Derek: Do you know what happens afterwards?
Stephanie: What?
Derek: You get to tell Dr. Bailey that you helped saved her husband's life.
Stephanie: Scalpel.

* Dr. Jake Riley sits down*.
Bailey: Are you okay to be here right now, Dr. Riley?
Jake: What do you mean?
Bailey: I know what day it is for you. I'm sorry.
Jake: Yeah, me too. Why are you here Dr. Grey?
Bailey: Because she has nothing better to do with her time than sit up here and annoy me.
Meredith: I'm here to be with Bailey.
April: Does it make me any better than Grey that the only reason I'm not down in the Pit with major incoming traumas is because Cristina placed Dr. Hunt on her big trauma cardiovascular case, and I have some spare time to finally schedule my bridesmaids fittings.
Bailey: No. Not really. All I can do is wait until Ben's surgery is over. I don't need two people to watch me do that.
Jake: It's okay. I can leave. I need to go look at my patients scans anyway. I left my intern with them. That's not good.
Bailey: I remember those days. Bye Dr. Riley.
Jake: Nice seeing you Chief. Warren's going to be okay. He's a hero for what he does every day.

Meredith: Do you ever miss it when we were all interns?
Bailey: Are you kidding me? No. You guys were reckless and stupid, but you've all grown into my babies. It's why I'm happy you're here even if I can't show it.

Bailey: Speaking of which, where is Karev?
Meredith: I don't know.
S7- The attendings lounge.
Addison: Alex, why on earth have you paged me to the attendings lounge? I was in the middle of examining my patient after her delivery this morning. Things still weren't getting better for her even after we gave her an iv of meds.
Alex: This is our daughters crib.
Addison: Oh my gosh, you did this for me?
Alex: I did it for us, for you two, for my family.
Alex: Tada! Do you like it?
Addison: Like it? I love it!
Alex: Do you want to grab some dinner after this shift to talk about important things?
Addison: Yes. I do. There's a name that I have wanted to name my daughter for a long time.
Alex: Okay, what is it?
Addison: Haley.
Alex: I'll consider it. I'll see you after shift. I'm going to go put this in your car.
Addison: Why can't I do it?
Alex: Because you're pregnant. You should be taking your prenatal vitamins right now.
Addison: Do you even know what those are?
Alex: I could learn.

Bailey: You did it Shepard and so did you Edwards. Thank you. Thank you so much. * Bailey hugs Derek*.
Derek: Oh! Easy on the body there I'm still recovering from the car crash.
Bailey: Sorry. It's just thank you. Thank you for what you did in there Shepard. You really did it. * Bailey hugs Stephanie then*.
Stephanie: Oh! Thank you, Dr. Bailey! Warren is probably not awake yet, but I can take you to see him if that's what you want. *They leave*.
* Meredith smiles at Derek*.
Derek: What are you so smiley about Meredith?
Meredith: You really did it. That's what I'm smiling about. Mark and Lexie have exciting news. I have to go check on your sister.
Derek: What do you mean Mark and Lexie have exciting news? People just don't say things like that and then walk away to go check on their sister.
Meredith: I do. I'll page you to Mark and Lexie's room after I find Amelia, okay?
Derek: Okay.
S9- Amelia's patients room.
Meredith: Hey, how are you doing?
Amelia: Meredith, please, I'm taking care of a patient in pre-op care. This is one of the most vital stages in recovery. This patient's main neurosurgeon had to step out for a little bit so I'm taking care of the patient now with helping him manage his post-op pain, because as you know, it takes time for the human body to eliminate anthesis from the body's tissue. Or at least, I hope a Catherine Fox award winner knows that.
Meredith: I thought you'd like to know that Derek finished Chief Bailey's husbands surgery.
Amelia: That's excellent news. Are you guys going out to Joe's with all of your other important doctor friends that aren't drug addicts like me? It's fine really. I could go to, or wait, I can't I'm an acholic and a drug addict.
Meredith: It doesn't have to be like this between us. Derek told me that you and Addison were very close, and I want that for Derek's sake. You're his sister.
Amelia: But I'm not yours.
Meredith: You're right. You are. It doesn't mean that I'm going to let you sleep in my house, eat my food, and be around my child if things are like this between us. I know I'm not your sister. You aren't mine. It doesn't have to be like this. Can we at least be friends for Derek's sake?
Amelia: I'll settle for acquaintances.
Meredith: That's fine. Derek and I have to go somewhere really quickly, but will the neurosurgeon your covering for be back in ten minutes tops?
Amelia: Yes. Why?
Meredith: We are celebrating. We will not be going to a bar because Addison is pregnant and she can't have any wine. You aren't the only one. We can go to dinner or something.
Amelia: Yeah. Dinner. I'm sorry I was rude before. It's just I can't trust easily, but I trust Derek. He certainly made the right choice to choose you.

S10- Mark and Lexie's room.
Meredith: Hey Lex!
Derek: Hi Mark. Is that child yours because she looks awfully young and pretty? So unlike you.
Mark: Shut up and say congratulations and hug me. I'll say congratulations to you for Warren's surgery today. How'd it go?

Lexie: We named her after Mer. Her name is Meredith Elle Sloan.

Amelia: Hey.
Meredith: I thought you had to watch the patient for ten more minutes until you could come with us.
Amelia: The neurosurgeon came back early. I'm here. Addie just texted me she's going to dinner with Alex.

Amelia: Who's this Mark?
Mark: This is Meredith Elle Sloan. I'm sure Derek would be happy to share her around and give you a chance to hold her.
Amelia: She's gorgeous but I shouldn't. Babies are Derek's thing. I can go outside. * Meredith notices something is off about what she said*.
Meredith: Yeah. I can go wait with her while you explain to Derek how this all happened. I love you Lexie. I'll be here for your discharge tomorrow. Bye Mark. * Hugs them both and then leaves*.
Lexie: Have you and Mer ever thought of having another baby?
Derek: Meredith has trouble with being pregnant. The odds are unlikely but there is a chance that maybe we could have a blood-related baby one day. I'm happy for right now with Zola. Here you go Lexie, take care of yourself. I'll be here tomorrow for your discharge too. If you guys need anything, you can just ask Meredith and I.
Lexie: Can you just stay one more minute? She really likes you.
Derek: All babies like me. Mark, on the other hand, they're not so sure about.
S11- outside of Mark and Lexie's room.
Meredith: I'm going to ask you a question.
Amelia: Yes.
Meredith: Why were you so weird about holding the baby in there?
Amelia: I tend to drop babies because I don't have a firm grasp on them. Derek was already holding her.
Meredith: I knew the answer to my question. Addison told me about what had happened to your baby and how...
Amelia: You mean how he was born with Anencephaly?
Meredith: Yes. I just want to make it clear to you that I'm here for you if you need to talk. I want more mornings like the one we had this morning. You shared something personal with me and I can see how hard it was for you.

Teddy: Hey. How was your shift after we finished going house hunting?
Owen: It was amazing. Cristina and I worked on a traumatic cardiovascular case. Cardiac injury is one of the most lethal injuries in thoracic trauma. He had traumatic pericardial effusions, pericardial lacerations with cardiac luxation.
Tom: This guy was out here saving lives while I was on a plane to come see my beautiful wife. WE are flying out to Iraq from Seattle to see our son.
Owen: You must be Tom.
Tom: And who are you?
Owen: I'm Owen Hunt.
Tom: That was a joke. Teddy couldn't shut up about you in Iraq.
Owen: Do you guys want any beers? I can always use one after work.

Meredith: Good morning. It's Tuesday.

Derek: No. I mean let's try again.
Meredith: You are aware that I can't get pregnant, and even if I were able to at all, the pregnancy would be a high-risk pregnancy and it would probably end in a miscarriage.
Derek: The odds mean nothing. You have always beaten the odds. Yesterday, I saved Ben Warren's life. I beat the odds too. The odds are nothing. WE beat the odds but love is everything. I love you and you love me. I want to expand our family.
Meredith: Okay?
Derek: Did you just agree to something I said?
Meredith: Yes. Let's have another baby.
