I know I'm the worst because I haven't updated in forever, but I'm officially on Christmas break now so I have all the time to write. I've also really loved the idea of this epilogue and kept it stored away until I decided I was happy with the end result. Thank you to everyone who read, reviewed, followed, and favorited. I really appricate your support, and special thanks to those who are going to read this last chapter and have not given up on the story.
I'm also planning on writing a series of one-shot spin offs with the same characters from this story just about the time between the last chapter and the epilogue. I'll probably start that once I finish one of the two stories I'm working on now.
Disclaimed!
Five years later
Abigail ran down the hallway of her Uncle Dave's house. Giggling as her long, dark braid swung behind her. "Abby!" She heard her Aunt Pen call before she heard the clicks of her heels climbing the stairs. Abigail ran around the next corner before colliding into her father's legs.
"What are you doing up here?" He questioned before lifting her over his shoulders.
The five year old laughed in delight before answering, "Looking for you daddy."
"Oh yeah?" Hotch laughed as an exasperated Garcia came into view. "Well I think your Aunt Pen needs you downstairs so you can get ready for the party." He put her back down on the ground.
Abigail huffed, "I'm already ready!"
"You're missing shoes," Hotch said pointedly, containing a smile. "And I think shoes would go very well with the princess dress you picked."
Abigail twirled in her light blue 'Cinderella' dress. "Glass slippers," she corrected.
"That's right because that's what Cinderella wore," Hotch said. Garcia smiled knowing her stoic boss man knew about Disney princesses. "But you're even prettier. Now please don't make your mother's morning difficult and let your Aunt Pen finish getting you ready."
"Why does Jack get to stay up here?" Abby whined.
Hotch shrugged, "Because the boys get ready upstairs while girls get ready downstairs. It's like a tradition, I can't see mommy before the ceremony."
"Ohh," Abby said. "Mommy looks so pretty in her dress. She's like a princess!"
"She always is," Hotch smiled. "Now come on you head downstairs, and I'll see you in ten minutes."
"Bye daddy," she blew a kiss to her father before taking Garcia's hand and walking back down the stairs.
Hotch walked back into the room where Morgan, Rossi, and his brother Sean were all sharing drinks, while Reid and Jack were drinking juice.
Rossi poured his friend a scotch and handed it to him. "That kid is too cute. She has you wrapped around her finger."
Hotch chuckled. "Speak for yourself. You and Garcia spoil both my kids rotten."
"It's never harmed anybody right Jack?"
"Right!" Jack agreed, causing a few of the other adults to chuckle.
"I would like to give a little toast before we head outside," Rossi announced. "To this day, we all know it's been a long time coming." They all clinked glasses before heading downstairs.
"Found her!" Garcia announced as she walked into the room holding Abigail's hand. "Jayje you look stunning," she breathed when she saw her friend in the mirror.
"You think?" JJ asked, running her hands down her thin frame. Her dress was a simple, strapless, white, lace gown, that hugged her figure, but not too tightly. Her hair was pulled back, with small pieces falling in ringlets across her face. She spun to reveal that the back was sheer with a few small white buttons going up the back.
"Yes!" Garcia nodded.
"Hotch might just have a heart attack on the altar," Prentiss commented.
At that moment JJ's mother and sister in-law walked in the room. "Oh Jennifer!" her mother gushed. "You look so beautiful"
"Thanks mom," JJ gave her mother a hug.
"And I've brought you you're something borrowed," her mother announced. She picked up a box and JJ quickly opened it.
"Mom," JJ said softly.
"It's the veil I wore when I married your father," her mother said. "I know how much you loved it, and I figured if you wanted to wear a veil you could wear this one."
"I would love to," JJ said. "Would you help me put it on?"
After Sandy had delicately pinned the veil in her daughter's hair, and Garcia had put Abigail's shoes on they were ready to head outside. JJ met her father at the doorway leading out to Rossi's garden, and the start of the aisle. "Jen you look gorgeous," he said as JJ looped her arm through his.
Hotch stood at the top of the aisle with what seemed like a permanent grin plastered across his face. He watched as Garcia and Prentiss walked down in their matching blue bridesmaid's dresses, followed by Abigail who happily threw her flower petals in the air and at the guests. Next to him he saw Rossi and Sean bursting with laughter.
His breath hitched when he saw JJ. She was always gorgeous to him, and now was no exception. Suddenly the realization that they were going to be husband and wife came crashing down on him, and he could hardly wait. She glided down the aisle smiling, and never breaking eye contact with him.
Her father gave her away and JJ took Hotch's hand giving it a reassuring squeeze. "You look beautiful," he said. JJ smiled as they both faced the minister, and the ceremony began.
"I would like to introduce their first dance as husband and wife, Mr. and Mrs. Hotchner!" Morgan announced as the band began to play. After a few drinks he had dubbed himself the MC for the night.
Hotch escorted JJ to the middle of the dance floor, small twinkling lights hung above them while the guests seated in the tables surrounding watched. He pulled his wife close to him, so close that their bodies were molded together and he began to sway back and forth with her to the music. "I love you," he murmured.
"I love you too," JJ replied as she laid her head across his chest. "Can you believe we made it here?" She asked.
"Of course I can," Hotch replied. "Rossi said earlier that this was a long time coming, and he was right, but I love you and there's no place i'd rather be."
JJ gave him a kiss before he twirled her in time with the music. "I always see you in suits, but I must say I'm a fan of the tux," she observed.
"Well I'm a fan of this dress," he said to her ear, running his hands along the back, careful not to loose his control in front of the guests.
"Just wait till you see what's underneath," JJ whispered seductivly in his ear.
Hotch shuddered in response and pulled her tighter to him. "This house has a lot of spare bedrooms. No one would notice if we were gone for little while."
JJ chuckled, "They would notice."
Hotch began kissing her neck, carefully enough that any onlookers would simply assume they were whispering to each other. "Well maybe they wouldn't be so rude as to interrupt us."
"Have you met our friends?" JJ asked, she could feel her will not to have her way with him in the middle of the floor slowly slipping. "Besides you have a whole week, and a beach house honeymoon after this to have your way with me."
"Believe me I intend to," Hotch assured as the song finished, and others began to make their way onto the floor.
"Well aren't you two an affectionate pair?" Garcia slurred, dragging an even more drunk Morgan behind her. "Don't you two go escaping off. Speeches are up next."
Instead the couple made their rounds around the reception, receiving congratulations from family, friends, and colleagues. Until they both sat at their table with Jack and Abigail, who were both currently enjoying the endless buffet that included chicken fingers.
"I'm so full," Jack declared as he slumped back in his chair.
"You didn't save any room for cake?" JJ teased lightly.
"There's always room for cake," Jack retorted causing JJ to laugh.
"Speaking of cake, I think it's time we cut that," Hotch suggested.
"Stop being so anxious for the wedding to end," JJ swatted his arm playfully.
"I'm not!" Hotch denied. "I'm anxious for the honeymoon to start," he said quieter.
"Can I have everybody's attention please," JJ's brother Micheal stood to adress the crowd. "I was told that we could make toasts now, and I just wanted to be the first...At first I wasn't Aaron's biggest fan."
Hotch and JJ snorted.
"But over the years I've seen how happy he makes my sister, and what an overprotective jerk I was. Now I really like the guy and I really like the couple he and JJ make," he continued. "Here's to you both," he toasted with a raise of his glass.
Other family members made their toasts along with the members of the team. Morgan's turned out to be the most entertaining as he spent most of his speech stumbling around from table to table, but the bride and groom didn't mind, in fact they were cracking up with laughter until Prentiss snatched the microphonw from his grasp.
"Now the bride and groom will cut the cake," Garcia announced.
JJ grinned at her husband devilishly as they gathered to feed eachother their first bites of cake.
"Honey," Hotch warned. "If you smash that piece of cake into my face-" Hotch cut himself off by pushing his own piece right above JJ's mouth. A look of surprise crossed her face. "You were going to do the same to me!" Hotch defended.
"You're right I was," JJ chuckled before kissing him passionately, effectively getting the icing all over his face. "But I will have my revenge for you ruining my makeup."
"I'll take it," Hotch said before pulling her into another passionate kiss. "I love you."
