Chapter Ten: Unknowingly Double Crossed

Levy looked down in slight horror and complete surprise at her fellow female genius. She...she...,"SAKURA HARUNO WHAT IN THE ACTUAL FUCK ARE YOU DOING?!"

The soft pink haired girl could be seen flinching back and hanging her head in shame. Natsu had flipped them the bird, yelling," FUCK OFF MIDGET!"

With another rage filling her, Levy turned on her heel and began to rush to the door so she could go confront them. Freed on the other hand gently grabbed her shoulder, giving her a calm look that said to politely calm the hell down.

He held her good hand as the two began to make their way downstairs. Scorpio stuck his head out of a door along with Cancer from a different doorway, the two watching confusedly until Freed gave them an all good. Freed stopped by the front door, the sounds of gun shots still blaring from the livingroom.

Levy gave a sour look before dropping his hand, "Why can't they leave us alone now. I'm glad I saw it instead of Lucy but just why Freed...why?"

The green haired man resisted the urge to wrap his arms around her and shield her from any type of harm possible. He smiled instead, "I'm going to have a word with him in you ladies' behalf. These are the Harunos correct?"

When she nodded he stepped outside and quickly strode down the path before going next door. He went right up the peach colored cobblestones and toward the equally peach colored house.

((Levy's POV))

When the door had closed softly behind him I merely turned and rushed to the indoor look room - there I would have a clear view of the garden next door and the left side of their house.

Aquarius was lying back in the water, floating in peace. Her eyes snapped open as soon as she heard the glass door clatter close, glaring at me hard. Ignoring her I sat eagerly against the glass wall, peering into the Haruno garden full of cherry blossom trees and pink roses and marigolds.

Natsu and Sakura were still sitting in the garden, on a little stone bench with a white arch above it. It was covered in pink roses and and vines growing all across it. Natsu had somehow managed to get Sakura to kiss him again, and they were tongue wrestling - sloppily.

It made me feel gross before I finally saw Freed and Sakura's younger sister Meredy walk out to the garden. Meredy gasped but Freed swiftly walked up and brushed Natsu away from Sakura. The girl blushed madly, her cheeks a deep red as she looked down in embarrassment.

I watched as Freed lips move fast but his face was calm, eyes staring deep into Natsu's. The bad teen merely glared back and then snapped back, clenching his fists. He stood up in Freed's face - looking ready to fight. I gasped when I saw Freed quickly pin Natsu's arm behind his back and glare at the back of his head darkly.

His lips seemed to make only four words but I wasn't all to good with lip reading. When Freed released Natsu, the teen grumbled and hopped the little gate before running off down the street. I laughed happily and ran inside to the livingroom where Jet, Droy, Bixlow and Lucy were all chilling on the couch again. The was game turned off but now cartoons replaced them on the screen.

I sat on the love seat and began to just relax with a smile. Jet noticed and called me on it, "What's so great, sis?"

((Narrator POV))

Levy shook her head at her older brother, "Nothing. It's just about how cool it'd be to go to school with you guys again."

Droy began to nod, believing the smooth lie, "Yeah it'd be pretty cool. Walking in there with shades on like badass bosses and stuff like 'We came to fuck some shit up'. Then everybody just like 'Ah! Oh my lord Jesus they've come back!' "

Everyone laughed and Bixlow fist pumped him, "Totally worth dude."

As they laughed Freed walked back in, "Lucy-San I believe it is time me and Bixlow were to take our leave. We have some business to attend to."

Bixlow shrugged before rising and ruffling Lucy's hair, "Bye Princess, squirt and bros. See ya later."

They all waved and left, leaving the four teenagers to just rest on the couch. Scorpio walked in, his wonderful two tone color slightly wet. He surprised to see them still up, "Hey. Don't you guys know it's like 8:30ish? There's school tomorrow."

Droy whined, "We didn't even eat dinner yet thooooouuugh. I don't like going to bed without dinner."

Scorpio chuckled, "Okay fine. Lemme go tell Virgo to whip you guys up something real fast. And then Lyra and Aries can help clean this little mess."

The livingroom was indeed a little mess, making them blush an spew apologies. The male maid/sports trainer merely shook his head, "Don't worry about it. And don't forget to bathe."

With that he left, walking around a corner and off deeper into the house. Jet sighed happily, "Lucy dude, you've got the most chill staff ever! They're all like family really."

The blonde giggled and nodded, "I know right! They've been by my side since I was really little."

Levy put a finger on her chin in thought, "It's a bit weird how they all have names like the zodiac signs though. But where are the other three?"

Droy waved it off, "Right now I'm just looking forward to Virgo's wonderful food again. A year has been enough of a wait."

They all laughed at that. It was just like old times, the four of them going everywhere together and having fun. Sometimes Laxus would join them along with Grandpa Makarov since Mr and Mrs Heartfilia were too busy.

They had spilt off to go take some baths before eating. Levy and Lucy were sitting in one of the big tubs in the bathroom a few doors down from their room. It was something they started from around 5 years old.

Levy played in the steamy water, careful with her right hand, "Hey Lu-chan?"

The blonde hummed in response, leaning on the edge in the relaxing waters. The bluenette smiled to herself, "I think I've got a crush on Freed."

Lucy sat upright at this, uncaring that the water was barely reaching over her chest, "Whoa! That's super cute to have a crush on Freed."

She snorted and leaned back again, "Ya know, Lev. For the longest time I thought that you'd end up with either Jet or Droy."

Levy reeled back, "LUCY! They're my older BROTHERS! I can't date them!"

The busty teen snickered, "Yeah your older ADOPTED brothers. You're not related by blood so it would've been okay. They used to like you anyway."

Levy blushed, "Huh?"

Lucy looked incredulously at her best friend, "You didn't notice? Girl back in middle school they had major crushes on you. But I think it was just because you were the only girl they were around when they hit puberty."

Levy's blush was still there and she sheepishly looked down at the water, "O-oh. Well even back then I was crushing on Gajeel s-so it p-probably wouldn't have m-mattered."

She quickly changed the subject, "Don't you like Bixlow Lu-chan?"

The Heartfilia child blushed but looked off to the side with a slight blush, "Yeah so? What about it?" Her arms were crossed in the little pout and Levy couldn't help but laugh.

When the laughter died down she sighed, "Ohhhh you're just so cute Lu-chan. But I think Bixlow finds you even cuter. You two would be so cute together ya know?"

Lucy sighed, "Yeah but I still wanna chill around with them a bit longer, get to know them some more. Although today he really helped sever our bonds with those jerks Natsu and Gajeel. Idiots."

Levy nodded in agreement, "Yeah but let's go ahead and get out of the tub. I don't wanna prune."

The two hurriedly washed themselves before getting out to dry. Levy had a knee length nightgown and Lucy wore some cotton shorts with a baggy shirt. Slipping on their house shoes, the best friends went down to the kitchen, smelling the wonderful aromas of food.

Coming around the bend into the room, Lucy was surprised to find both her parents sitting at the table with Jet and Droy who both had wet hair from their showers. Lucy ran and gave both her parents hugs, "Father! Mother! It's such a pleasure to sit and eat dinner with you two. Father I see you noticed both Jet and Droy's return."

Jude nodded to the two young men, "Yes sweetheart, I've seen. And their parents are to be arriving by next week so you two can stay here until then."

Layla laughed gently at all their awestruck faces, "Yes Mr. and Mrs. McGarden contacted us about an hour ago. We don't want you three having to go live alone when were here for you."

Jet, Droy, and Levy all smiled happily, hugging together like siblings do, "Thanks Mrs. Heartfilia! You're he best!"

Everyone shared a laugh before Virgo and Loki came out with dinner. After giving thanks and praying, the six ate together in comfortable peace, making small talk. They spoke of Lucy's upcoming birthday, Jude and Layla's work, how much fun Jet and Droy had when gone, and the next time everyone should go on vacation again.

"Well you four it's nearly 10 at night. You must be up by 5:30 in the morning so go ahead and get some rest."

They nodded at Layla before excusing themselves and walking off together like the siblings and friends on they could be. Layla rested her head gently on her husband's shoulder, "Isn't it great to see Lucy have such bonds with her friends? It's as if they're family too."

Jude nodded before giving his wife a chaste kiss on the forehead, "Come Layla, we must rest as well. There's another boring meeting at 7."

He rolled his eyes and emphasized the 'o' in boring, making her giggle and playfully smack his arm, "Oh stop it Jude." He chuckled with her before they went up to bed as well.

((In Jet and Droy's room))

Jet was laying back in bed, his arms folded behind his head while he stared at the ceiling. He wore a plain white shirt and dark blue shorts, just like Droy.

A sigh escaped his lips, "Droy don't you ever think that we should've protected Levy better? While we were gone that Gajeel guy broke her heart. We should've stayed."

Droy was laying on his side, eating a few Oreos, "Well Levy's a big girl Jet. She may be our baby sister but then again she's gotta make her own path so if - as hard as it is for me to say - Gajeel breaking her heart helps then she needs it. An don't forget we should've protected Lucy too."

The orange haired 18 year old sighed again, "Fine...But hey! Now that were back at school I can rejoin the track team and get back to winning races!"

He smiled widely and Droy laughed, "You wiped the floor with those Americans. You should've seen how much they were sweating and panting. Pretty picture worthy."

The two shared a laugh before Droy glanced at the digital clock on the dresser between their beds. It read 10:17 in red numbers.

He ate the last Oreo in his hand before getting up, "It's late so let's get some rest. You already know how rowdy of a welcome the gang can give."

He turned out the light and the two boys snuggled under the covers, falling asleep from the tiring day fast.

((Lucy and Levy's Room))

Lucy fell onto the bed tiredly, sighing at the rich plushness of it. She looked over at Levy who was sitting at the vanity, taking off her headband and putting it up.

"Hey Lev. Doesn't it feel like we're forgetting something?"

Levy shook her head as she turned out the light and got into the giant bed beside Lucy, "Nope. I just want some rest before school."

They both settled into the covers, drifting off into sleep. Suddenly they both sprang up in the darkness, "We were supposed to study for the test!" "Ohhhh mannnn!"

((The Next Day))

Jet, Droy, Lucy and Levy were waving goodbye to Mr. and Mrs. Heartfilia along with all the servants. The four fell into pace with each other as they began to walk to school. Levy looked next door to the Haruno place, seeing Ikaruga and Marluxia sending everyone off to school.

Meredy was still a freshman so she was still a bit shy about going. But Sherry and Sakura were both with her, walking down their walkway. Sakura and Levy met glances, the bluenette glaring at the pinkette who merely shivered before turning away and hurrying down the street to meet up with her two friends Ino and Hinata.

As everyone walked to school, Jet and Droy were finally noticed which set off a chain reaction of greetings. Lucy and Levy giggled and left the boys alone to their celebrations. In the cafeteria at their usual spot sat their usual group of gal pals. Cana smirked up at them, "I see your brothers are back Levy."

The girl looked down and scratched her cheek, "A-ah yeah."

Suddenly she was met with gasps, Mirajane softly held her ha and which had a little cast on it, "what happened to you?"

Lucy quickly covered for her, not wanting to have to explain the incident, "You know Jet and Droy love their games so we played videos games all night then Levy had to write a report so it hurt her."

Everyone gave nods of understanding, blaming it on her fragile body, continuing on about random things until the warning bell rang. They all split up before going to class.

((Time Skip - English class))

Lucy and Levy stood outside the door, both looking at the door that was their English classroom. Kids were walking in nonchalantly, casting weird glances at the two who looked to be tortured to go inside. A smooth velvety voice spoke from behind, making them jump, "Why are you two not going into class? It's test day."

They turned back to see Sesshomaru and less than they'd like - Natsu and Gajeel coming down the hall. Lucy waved it off, "N-No worries 'Maru. But hey Levy let's go ace that test okay?"

Levy hurried nodded and they rushed in the class to their seats right in the front. Yukino was there, waiting for them to come inside. Begrudgingly enough the two dunderheads entered as well, casting them sideway glances.

The bell rang for class to start but the teacher wasn't there. Everyone just waited...and waited...still waiting...After about 10 minutes of waiting- "Dammit I'm outta here."

Everyone looked at Natsu's outburst with sighs, they watched as he left the room, Gajeel silently stalking out with him. Yukino nudged Levy, "You know if the teacher isn't here the first 10 minutes then that means we can legally leave right?"

Levy nodded and just took out a book, picking up where she had left off this morning. Lucy took out a sketchbook, continuing to draw little chibi people of her and her servants as wizards in cute outfits and the like. She had drawn nearly everyone on the page and was finishing up herself.

Yukino shrugged before taking out some left over math homework to do. Basically everyone had used it as a free day since there was obviously no test with no teacher. When the bell rang everyone filed out into the hall like the day before.

Levy sighed and smiled at Lucy, "Thank God there wasn't a test! Plus those two idiots stayed away the rest of class."

Lucy giggled and grinned wide, "I knooooww right! It is such our luck today Lev."

As they played and chatted on their way to art class, something occurred to Lucy, "Hey...Levy did something go down yesterday with you and Sakura?"

The bluenette paled, she knew her friend was sharp but this was ridiculous. Though of course Levy DID scream to high heaven just right upstairs. She shook her head anyway, feigning innocence, "No! W-what ever do you mean?"

Lucy deadpanned and pointed to the pinkette in question squirming in her seat on the far corner of the room, "That's why. She's been squeamish all day whenever were near. Specifically when YOURE near."

Levy shrugged and then snagged at seat at the art table next to Tsubaki and Maka, "Hey you two!"

Tsubaki bowed her head, "Hello!"

Maka nodded," Sup guys. How's it been?"

Lucy sighed with a smile, "Same old same old." They all giggled as the bell rang, Mrs. Ritzweld walking in.

She was a weird middle aged woman with weird hair. The top layer was colored white while the bottom layer was dark coral, reminding them of peppermint. Her eyes were a soft teal color and she wore giant glasses.

Her quirkiness showed in her weird cosplaying outfits - today she chose to be a doctor. A long white lab coat was worn over her coral sweater and tan knee length skirt. Her skinny legs were bundled in thick tube socks with bulky brown loafers. But she was a really chill teacher.

"Alright ya guys let's continue on our clay sculptures. Remember to bring those imaginations to life kiddos!"

Everyone got out their creations while she went and worked on her own. That's just what she did, worked along side them instead of giving them assignments and due dates.

Lucy was making a dragon of sorts with red, orange, and yellow scales. Levy had made a little fairy with a blue and pink dress and short green hair. Maka was making a sytche while Tsubski made a beautiful rose.

Mrs. Ritzweld walked by to glance at their work, "Hey that's pretty cool Levy. Hope you keep it."

Levy blushed and said thanks. The four girls chatted and worked up til 5 minutes before the bell rang. Tsubaki held up her rose, "Now all it needs is color!"

Maka clapped for her, "Looks gorgeous. Let's hope Black Star doesn't break it."

Levy gently picked up her fairy, "I'd like to touch it up a bit more before taking it home. How's yours Lu-chan?"

Lucy sighed down at her dragon. She had made it for Natsu but now..."I don't like it."

Tsubaki put a finger on her chin, "I don't suppose you making that little doll from leftover clay was a miracle was it?"

Lucy gasped then smacked her forehead, "Oh my goodness! I had completely forgot about her! THANK you so much Tsubaki!"

The blonde dumped the dragon and rushed back for the doll she had made. It wasn't painted or glossed yet but it was fully formed and kilned.

After laying it on a rack, they barely had time to grab their bags before the bell rang, everyone rushing to leave for home.

Jet and Droy met them at the front door. But just as they were about to leave Yukino ran up to catch Lucy, "Lucy-sama! Where are you going there's a club meeting today remember?"

Sighing she waved bye to her friends, "Sorry guys I gotta stay."

Droy looked around, "Are you gonna have to walk home alone?"

When she nodded he grinned and pounded his chest, "Then I'll wait right here for you. I'll walk you home Lucy. Jet can take care of Levy fine, right?"

Jet nodded and grinned with a thumbs up. Levy waved bye and the two took off down the street.

Droy popped a squat on the school steps as Lucy went and had a meeting.

((Time Skip))

Lucy was just now walking out, sleepy on her feet. Droy instantly hopped up, dozing off on the steps himself. He led the tired Lucy down the steps and eventually opted to just give the girl a piggy back ride home.

"Hey Droy...I see you made it back from America fine. How are you old pal?"

The black haired teen stopped, knowing who it was. His face was nothing but serious business as he turned back around, "Well if it isn't my old pal...Natsu."
