~Len P.O.V.~
When Lola called my name, I didn't know what to say to Rin. I didn't even look at her cause I knew she was upset. I had to pretend I was happy and walk out with a smile on my face. If I looked at her, I knew I wouldn't be able to fake anything.
Gumo and Miki smiled at me as I walked out. Miki tried to say something to me, but I couldn't hear her with the clapping and cheering audience. All I understood was something about Rin.
I went up to Lola to get my acceptance letter, but she didn't hand it to me.
"Wait," Lola said after I stopped next to her, "Not Len, I meant Rin Kagamine."
I sighed happily, Rin got accepted.
Of course right after I had to pretend like I was somewhat upset.
I felt all the weight of the world lifted off my shoulders.
Her dreams were finally coming true.
"Sorry," Lola apologized to us and the audience as she chuckled, "I've just known those two for so long that I always end up confusing them."
I looked over at the backstage area, hoping to see Rin walking towards us with a smile on her face. Well not really walking, more like limping.
But I didn't.
I didn't see her smiling.
I didn't see her limping.
I didn't even see her.
Miki, Gumo, and I all shared nervous glances before I ran off stage in search of my sister. She wasn't where I left her, nor was she on the other wing of the stage. I asked everyone, but no one knew where for sure she was. All of them gave me different answers.
"She's in the bathroom."
"She went to get some water."
"She had a phone call and went to answer it."
"Her costume is being fixed, so she went to the dressing room to change into something else."
"She ran away crying."
This was all my fault.
I felt my hands clench into fists before running to the door downstairs.
I walked to the dressing rooms to get my phone and call her, it was my responsibility to find her since this whole mess wouldn't have happened if I wasn't here. If I had quit Lola wouldn't have confused me with her.
Rin never turned her phone off or let it run out of battery, so she should be able to hear me calling her. As I continued to walk down, I heard someone sniffling coming from the bottom of the stair case.
"That should be me!" I heard loud crying follow soon after; "It's not fair!"
Crying was all I could hear then. I noticed myself starting to speed up. Then all I heard an even louder shriek. It had to be Rin.
I ran down the stairs and saw her clutching her bruised foot. Tears were pouring down her red cheeks. She didn't notice me walk closer and brought her face into her knee. She leaned against the wall and then slid down the wall so she was sitting. Now she held both her knees into her chest as the continued to cry.
Seeing her so weak made a pain form in my chest, it killed me to see her this way.
I quietly walked up to her, sitting down next to her. She didn't even notice me till I wrapped my arm around her shoulder. Her tear filled eyes widened once she realized it was me and tried to push away.
"Go away Len! I want to be alone!" I still held a firm grip on her. "I mean it! Let go of me! I don't need your pity."
More tears ran down her face, I couldn't even bear to look at her without feeling guilt. I was my fault this happened and now she hated me because of it. I wanted to tell her the truth, but I couldn't find the words.
She continued to protest as I held her, but I wouldn't let go; me letting her go caused this mess. If I never went onto that stage, she would've been fine. So instead I brought her into my chest and hugged her. I wrapped my arms around her petite body and rested my head on top of her's. At first she pounded her fists against my chest, but once she realized I wouldn't let her go again, she stopped.
I ran my fingers through her silky blonde hair, to help her calm down. Her head rested in my chest and I felt her breathe calmly against my body.
Slowly I stood up, bringing her up with me. I supported her so she wouldn't further injure her foot. She looked up at me with a somewhat confused expression.
"Len what-."
I kissed her forehead, "It's time for a princess to receive her crown."
I led her upstairs to the back stage area. Everyone who was there started congratulating Rin. She just gave me a confused look, she had no idea it had been a mistake. I just smiled and continued to help me, afraid she could hurt herself more. Miki and Gumo saw Rin and me and came over to help us. We all walked up and that's when the audience began clapping and cheering for Rin. She still was completely clueless.
Was it bad I thought she looked cute with that expression?
Lola ushered Rin next to her. I let Rin go and she slowly walked over to her. Lola immediately apologized to Rin before handing her the letter. Rin just couldn't help but smile. Once it was finally in her hand, all of the audience members stood up and gave her a standing ovation.
Well not really everyone. Our mom sat quiet in the front row with a plain expression plastered on her face.
But I ignored it.
All I cared about was Rin.
She turned to face me, letter in hand. I just couldn't help but hug her. That wasn't strange. Siblings hug each other all the time. There's nothing wrong with that.
"You did it Rin," I said quietly so only she would hear me.
"You did too," Rin placed a matching letter in my hand.
"What? What's this?" I asked her.
"There were four scholarships, Len," Miki came up to us.
"You're the last one they picked," Gumo continued.
Rin looked up at me, smiling happily. I couldn't help but smile back at her. Just to see her so happy made me feel like I couldn't have a sliver of guilt in me.
"Now here are the four dancers attending Cypton Academy," Lola turned to face the audience. "Please give them and the other dancers a loud round of applause."
Miki, Gumo, Rin and I all held hands before bowing.
And just like before everyone was clapping, except for our mom.
Happy Kagamine Birthday~!
