Chapter 10: Ragnvald's kicks and Chitauri attacks

Amber POV:

25 weeks pregnant, I was happily awaiting the day I would give birth, but I was nervous about what I needed to do. I was brushing my teeth, trying to get my gums and teeth healthy, and Ragnvald was a pretty content baby judging by the feelings he sent me. "You're perky, aren't you Ragnvald?" I asked after I was done with brushing. 'Yes I am, mommy! Even your magic has gotten better!' he said with what I could tell a smile. Although my stomach was getting bigger, Loki had me practice magic with him, so far our strong bond has helped us with our magic, if we were to still be unsure or bickering about the bond, it wouldn't do very well with helping out with magic. So I was out of the bathroom, with Loki lying on the bed, sleeping as Ragnvald had been singing a little tune, just as an aspect of his perkiness from inside my womb. I went up to him, sitting next to him and smoothed my hand over his abs, seeing the black hairs on his happy trail, knowing where it would lead. I blushed at this thought, and Ragnvald was slightly annoyed. 'Calm down, mom! I can feel your lust towards dad, but he's trying to sleep!' Ragnvald said in a slight warning, he would be like his daddy one day. I went to go and get a book, for the sake of having something a little more fun to do, I ended up reading a mystery novel about two people trying to solve a man's murder without getting themselves killed in Scotland. I dropped something on the floor and was about to pick it up, but as soon as I was doing that, I didn't know Loki had even gotten up until he ended up carrying me back towards the bed, setting me on there while he would get my book and the thing that I dropped. "Did you have a nice sleep?" I asked when Loki sat back down on the bed. "Up until I saw you bend over to pick up your item that you dropped, I did have a nice sleep…you can't be doing anything that would harm our child, Amber." He said curling around me while I continued with reading my book. 'I'm actually fine, dad!' Ragnvald said with annoyance. "When you find your mate and you're expecting your own child, you will understand my behavior." Loki said firmly to him before kissing my stomach. 'That won't probably be for another few decades, after I come out of mommy's tummy of course.' Ragnvald countered. I laughed a little bit, wondering what it would be like when Ragnvald hits the teen years, it would be tedious yet hilarious that was for sure.

Later on, we were wondering about in the palace, taking in the sights that I hadn't seen before, the gardens outside, the town, the people walking around wearing dresses and whatnot. I wondered what would happen after Ragnvald would be born, would we live here on Asgard, or would we live on Earth, it was difficult, and I even brought it up to him before and he said that it would have to wait until maybe after or before he would be born. We were in the library, with Loki helping me to a chair, and he ended up getting a book about pregnancies, and there was a section about giving birth, I was terrified about this, but the stress and anxiety wasn't good for him as we both wanted Ragnvald to be healthy and not have anything wrong with him should he be born. I must have still been conflicted over this because Loki came up from behind me and started kissing behind my ear, taking my earlobe in his mouth and nibbling on it. "You are still frightened of childbirth, darling? It's natural, beautiful even Amber." He whispered going to my neck and lavishing attention to it, as if he was worshipping it and treated it like I would break at any minute. "Not only that, it's painful and exhausting." I countered, trying to keep my sanity, even if my primal side was enjoying the attention that was given to me.

Thor POV:

I was preparing myself for an attack from the Chitauri, I knew for a fact that they would come after Loki as he had failed on his end of the bargain, they would come for him and do who knew what, some would have willingly left him for them to do what they will, but he was my brother, I wouldn't let anyone harm him in any way, despite him denying his brotherhood with me, we grew up, we played, we even fought together, we even got in trouble together, granted I had no knowledge of his heritage, being the son of the Jotun Laufey, the King of the Jotuns who abandoned Loki because of his size, and I was raised to hate the Jotuns, I was angry that my father would keep something like this from him, from me, from everyone…..I must have been brooding for too long as my friend Sif had been looking at me with worry. "What troubles you, Thor?" she asked. "I'm just thinking about things." I said twirling Mjolnir around. "What things, Thor?" she prodded. "Why had my father kept Loki's true heritage from me, from him…..I know mother said it was because he didn't want him to feel different, but did my father fear that I would kill him if I found out what he really was?" I asked looking out at the library, where Loki and Amber were, he looked happy, relaxed with her, and their unborn child. "Maybe you would have back then, when you were still brash and arrogant, seeking only the glory and spoils of battles." Sif said, reminding me of my stupidity, when I came to Jotunheim picking a fight with the frost giants, and inadvertently resurrecting a war between Asgard and Jotunheim. I kept sparring and eventually, I went to see Jane, wondering if she was doing her research still on my home. I saw her looking over at a newborn realm, excitedly writing down things in her journal. "I see someone was busy while I was gone." I said coming up from behind her. Jane turned, blushing at me as she composed herself before speaking to me. "Sorry, I was just looking at this one place up ahead, maybe we could go there and see what it is, and maybe it will be filled with life." She said getting herself excited again as she pointed to the sky, I loved her like this, passionate about her work, the things that would excite her.

Throughout the afternoon, we were talking about what would happen should the Chitauri attack Asgard somehow, I knew Loki would take care of himself, and Amber had been practicing her magic with him despite being pregnant with my nephew. I would imagine he would need to have her prepared should something like this happen someday, it could be today or after my nephew would be born, I was uncertain, but we all needed to be prepared for such an attack. "Thor." My mother called me, I wondered what she wanted to speak to me about. "Mother, what's wrong?" I asked slightly worried. "Nothing is wrong, Thor….I am wondering about the situation regarding those creatures that Loki had used to try and take Midgard. I hope we are ready for their attack." She asked worriedly. I hugged her, assuring her that nothing would go wrong and that we were being prepared for the Chitauri should they get here to reclaim the tesseract and possibly kill Loki for his failure, I couldn't allow Amber and Loki to die, they were husband and wife by Jotun mating customs after all and couldn't live without each other. I went in my chambers to think about the next thing we needed to do should an attack occur on Asgard, grandfather, watch over us in this time, as we prepare ourselves for an attack that might occur in this golden realm of Asgard.

Loki POV:

I was relaxed in the library, content and with Amber as she was lying next to me, her breathing steady and stable, our son peacefully resting, I felt lucky, genuinely lucky. I felt like I was looked down upon by so many people in my life, but with her and our son, I felt like I was the favored one in their eyes, I would have more than one child with her, and when they would be born, they would be loved completely and not have them not know about their heritage as Jotuns, they would be loved equally as well as Amber. I looked at her and she was burrowing her way further into my side, I put an arm around her, close to my heart and under my shoulder, where she belonged. She was my lover, my wife, my companion, the one person who would keep me on the right path, including Ragnvald and other sons we would have, and very soon, the mother of my children, I was excited for that day to happen, the day when she would give birth to Ragnvald, I knew she was nervous about childbirth, but it was part of her pregnancy, and I would be right there with her when it would happen. I smiled while kissing her hair before laying my cheek on her head, thinking of the times we would have together on this marriage. I got up and teleported all of us back to my chambers, where I cast a spell that had everything locked up, including putting barriers on my balcony so she would lie there, peaceful and content while Ragnvald would grow, but not without having food conjured up for her should she be hungry. I left to find out how Thor was doing with his day.

I found him outside his chambers just looking out at Asgard from his window, examining the bifrost observatory from a distance. "Thor, sightseeing are you?" I teased, earning a chuckle from him. "I am just wary about the Chitauri attack, when it would occur and whether or not we are prepared for it despite the training we all are doing, even mother is starting to worry." He said walking along the corridor, with me following suit. "There's something you aren't saying to me, brother." I said after observing his facial expression as we walked. "I don't know if I should even say it, considering that you despise talking about it so much." Thor said while trying to sort out the emotions from his mind. "It's about my heritage, isn't it?" I asked directly. Thor stopped in his tracks as I did, looking at me with a saddened expression. He took a deep breath before beginning. "I am not happy that father kept that secret from you, from me all these years, but I conversed with Sif and I may have found out another reason why he kept it from you and I, besides to prevent you from feeling like an outcast, it may be because should I have found out about what you really were, I would have killed you…..maybe back then, when I was so stupid and blinded I would have, but now…..I won't do it to you, you are my brother, no matter what you say otherwise," I was surprised as he was telling me this, perhaps that had also been a reason why I wasn't told about it, according to Sif. "Another thing about all of this is….you are lucky brother, you have a son on the way, the love of a woman who is willing to accept you and the bond she has with you, you indeed are lucky." Thor said before walking again along the corridors. Me, lucky, not something I would hear coming out of the thunderer's mouth, which was a first for even me.

But as I was going back to see Amber to find out how she was doing, I heard the ominous sound of the war horns blaring, indicating to me that there was an attack happening right here, and I had a feeling that the Chitauri were here to exact their revenge upon me for my failure, gods give me strength. "Get to a safe place, we're under attack!" one of the guards shouted out whilst the servants were running for a place to hide from the enemy. I went out to the balcony and discovered the Chitauri and they were trying to go through the gates to the city. "Oh gods…..right now this happens, oh if only I hadn't allowed all of this to happen right at this moment, although were it not for the trial I wouldn't have met Amber and claimed her, a 'blessing in disguise' as many would call, but right now, I need to get everyone away from here and help them." I said jumping off a balcony, landing where Sif and the others were heading for the gates. "Loki, come to help us with this attack, are you?" she asked pulling out her weapon before fastening her shield on her arm. "I have to, I caused all of this, now I want to end it." I said while Hogun had his mace in his hands. Sif gave me a nod before we all went for the gates. I hoped she would be safe from harm.

Tony POV:

We were all working on getting the people to safety before taking on those Chitauri who were invading Asgard, while spangles was getting some more people into safe areas that would be guarded enough to where they wouldn't be able to get inside. Thor came up to me, obviously out of breath from what was going on so far. "How's everything going?" I asked. "I had the guards stay outside their doors, I hope she would be safe from harm should that ever happen." He said swinging his hammer a little. "Where's Loki?" Clint asked. "I don't know, I think he is with Sif and the warriors three, he feels great remorse at what has happened here, perhaps him kidnapping Amber and claiming her as his mate was a blessing in disguise in some way." Thor said before an explosion rocked the ground. "We need to pick up the pace somewhat, don't you guys think?" Natasha said before running towards the source of the explosion, and there were a few Chitauri soldiers there, trying to shoot at everyone, but Romanoff beat them to the punch by shooting them with her guns, getting to work on taking them down while the other people were hiding somewhere. "Kind of like New York all over again, huh?" I asked as I flew around, shooting down a few others on those weird looking jet-type things they flew around on. "Kind of, except there's no portal opening up in the sky!" Barton said while probably shooting some arrows at a few more of them. Everyone else was doing their thing, I hoped that Amber and her kid were alright and not having some of those creepy looking things trying to get to her, otherwise things were going to be pretty bad on a really high scale.

We were destroying pretty much a majority of the alien things that were scouring most of Asgard obviously looking for Loki, the guards were doing an okay job of helping with the fight, then suddenly a whoosh of magic had passed by us and got an alien that was getting near Natasha, I knew right then that it was Loki. "Thanks, reindeer games, how are you guys doing on your end?" I asked after landing on the ground near where a bunch of Chitauri were cornering a woman and her child, disposing of it, giving them enough time to find shelter. "We are doing everything to dispose of the rest of those creatures, but I can't help but worry about her." He said standing next to Thor. "I'm sure she's fine, Loki, besides, Thor said that he had guards outside your bedroom, making sure everything was secure for her." Clint said screwing an arrowhead onto one of his arrows. He looked like he wanted to scowl at Thor, but even he knew that there were more important things to tend to than having a verbal duel over whether or not he was a capable hubby to her. We went on from there, battling a few Chitauri here and there, even with the occasional flying-alien-whale-things that were damaging certain things.

The battle kept dragging on from that point, until I noticed someone ordering to get towards the palace and find someone, I somehow knew exactly who he was referring to, so I went towards Loki's balcony where Amber probably was, oh man I hope she's alright, I'm gonna be baffled if she sleeps through the whole battle!

Amber POV:

I didn't know what was going on, I was just sleeping throughout most of the day, I personally hoped that everything was alright, and no attack was happening. I ended up waking up and getting out of bed, seeing the food that he conjured on the table. I smiled at his thoughtfulness, knowing that it was part of the 'Jotun mating customs'. 'Hi, mommy!' Ragnvald said slightly drowsy. "Hey pumpkin! I wonder where your father is…." I asked noticing he wasn't in our room. 'I'm sure he's alright!' he assured me as I sat on the chair, with some slight stiffness and pain as he was moving around. 'Sorry…just trying to get comfy in there.' he said slightly ashamed. "It's fine, sweetie, you're trying to get comfortable in there and I understand that." I said waving off the whole thing as I was eating my food, until I saw something zooming by the balcony. "What was that?" I asked myself, going towards the balcony and I noticed that there was a battle going on, and there were aliens headed straight for me. "Mom, what's wrong?" he asked a little scared. "I don't know, but there's a battle going on outside the place, try to remain calm, ok?" I asked trying to get my son to stay calm. The Chitauri jumped from something and were just about to land on my balcony when they all bounced off the barrier that Loki put on there, obviously muffling the sound and protecting me, which I was thankful for from a certain perspective, and falling towards the ground. "I hope your father is alright!" I said hoping that somehow there would be a sign that he was alright. I saw something red fly by the balcony, and I recognized that as Tony trying to prevent the Chitauri from getting to me, but the barrier was helping with that, but I would think it would only protect me for so long. Another Chitauri soldier also tried to get to me, but instead of bouncing off, it turned to ashes, startling me. "Ragnvald, did you do that?" I asked. 'No one is going to get to you or me, no matter who would be dumb enough to try!' he said with firm resolve. I pat my tummy, proud of him for already developing his magic from inside me. There had even been some banging and screams from outside my room, I knew immediately that those aliens were trying to burst through the door, trying to get to me. "This keeps getting better and better." I said with sarcasm and annoyance, trying to drain the fear from myself. 'Oh, we got to do something mom!' Ragnvald said slightly afraid. There were screams from the Chitauri outside the door, and there was something slightly off about that, so I hid in the bathroom, hoping to be subtle enough to not have any threat find me and kidnap me, like my ex Chris tried to do when me and Loki were on earth getting the ultrasound for Ragnvald. 'Momma, calm down, please!' Ragnvald said trying to soothe me. I ended up grabbing what looked like a hairbrush and went back to my hiding place. I heard the doors slam open and that made me tense. There was frantic breathing and yelling, but I was too scared to even listen. Eventually the bathroom door flew open and I tensed even further, so I tried to peek over the side to see who it was, I didn't see anyone, but I heard the footsteps come closer and closer until I started swinging the hairbrush around the place, and I knew I hit something, or someone because there was a 'bonk!' when I made contact with something, but the person was grumbling on how it really hurt. I looked at the person and it turned out that I hit my hubby with the hairbrush….oops. "Sorry, are you ok?" I asked feeling around his head for a bump. "Oh never mind me, I thought you were still sleeping!" he said rubbing the spot where I hit him. "I woke up on my own, the barriers did a superior job of protecting me from the violence and noise, which I am grateful to you for, dear husband." I said letting him help me up. "I do hope our son has been cooperative." He said with his hand splayed on my stomach. "He has, I think he's developing his magic from inside me because one of the Chitauri actually tried to get through, but turned to ash on impact." I said dusting off stuff from his leather and metal armor. "I'm so proud of him, I also think he was giving you a little push with your magic, Amber." He said before leading me outside the bathroom.

He went back outside our room, barriers stronger, to assist Thor with the attack, I hoped that he wouldn't get himself killed while battling those Chitauri. I looked outside and a saw more of them zooming around the palace, shooting everything with their guns, I saw Thor flying around, throwing his lightning at the giant whale ships, Natasha had commandeered one of the jets, kind like she did with the New York invasion. What was I to do, I was obviously showing that I was pregnant, although I had some of my magic learned and somewhat mastered, what could I do?! It felt like ten minutes had passed before someone else was banging on my door, I had a funny feeling it wasn't Loki because it was louder than even he would bang on the door. "Open the door, wife of the liesmith!" a voice boomed that I didn't recognize. 'Who in the hell is that!?' I thought to myself as I backed up towards the balcony, hoping that the person would leave and not come back. "OPEN THE DOOR OR I WILL BREAK IT DOWN!" the voice screamed, making me jump somewhat. 'Mommy, I'm scared!' Ragnvald said with great fright. "Shhh, you don't need to be scared, mommy's right here with you!" I whispered rubbing my stomach a little bit. "Alright, you want to play hard to steal away, huh? When I get my hands on you, I will kill your baby, and then you and even Loki, your pathetic excuse for a husband!" the voice said with a sinister essence to it. "You will have to go through me to get to her, foul fiend!" I recognized the voice as Thor, who was battling the person outside my door. This was getting crazier and crazier by the minute as I was technically trapped in my own bedroom, pregnant with a baby boy, my life was exciting at least, but it was starting to suck!

Natasha POV:

Chitauri after Chitauri, it was dragging on and on from the moment we found out about them to right at this moment. "I hope Amber's alright!" I said leaning on a piece of debris, trying to catch my breath from the exhaustion. "I'm sure she's fine, Nat, you know how Loki is when it comes to her." Tony reminded. I wasn't so sure about that, but at the moment it wasn't important as we needed to keep going with this battle before they could ravage all of Asgard. Eventually, we saw a menacing figure come up towards us, most of the remaining citizens were hiding behind stalls, and he walked up to us with an evil smirk on his face. "Ok, who is this guy?" Tony asked landing beside me. "I am Thanos, I come for the one called 'Loki,' if you know where he shall be, tell me now before I fill your head with unending torment until you beg for death." The guy said with his fist clenched at our faces. "You rang, Thanos?" I recognized that as Loki, so this was the guy he made the bargain with, he obviously had seen better days. "You failed to not only conquer that puny planet, you failed to deliver the tesseract to me." He said walking up to Loki with that equally menacing stride. "There…had been complications. You will not attack my home any further Thanos, it's over for you, and the tesseract is in a safe and secure place, where not even you could be able to reach if you tried." He snarked to him, who only smirked in return. "You think me a stupid fool Loki, tell me liesmith, how would you feel if I had your little mate in my grasp? And if I remember correctly, she is expecting your tainted offspring?" he asked, he was obviously trying to draw out a reaction from Loki. "You stay away from her, she has nothing to do with this." He growled at the alien, who only laughed in return. "Loki, he's only trying to get a reaction out of you, try to calm down I'm sure she's alright." Jane said trying to comfort Loki. Suddenly Thor came out of nowhere and hit Thanos with the hammer, causing him to stagger a little bit. "Is Amber alright?" I asked, earning a nod from Thor, I exhaled a breath I didn't know I was holding in.

To our dismay, there was suddenly a shield surrounding Thanos, at first we thought it was Loki, but we saw Amber, with a very angry expression, coming up to Thanos. "You think you're all that, invading my home, trying to attack everyone, and for what, to restore your small ass ego simply because you didn't get what you wanted? I think you're the pathetic one around here, buster!" she said with venom in her voice. Thanos growled at her, obviously insulted by her words to him as he tried to break through his shield, but to no avail as it was practically impenetrable. "You dare call me pathetic, whore?!" he roared, Loki was obviously angered by what he called her, but Thor stopped him, noticing that Amber was unwavered by his insult. "Oh yes, I dare, you intergalactic dick head!" she said with more venom in her voice. I had to stifle a laugh as she was insulting him like mad. He kept punching through the barrier, obviously wearing himself out by the minute, eventually he gave up, wanting to know what was going on and why he was losing his strength. "What is this, why is my strength draining from me?" he asked after he was getting tired, she just smirked at him. "Simple, I'm slowly killing you as you are being shielded, and you're doing it much faster by trying to punch yourself through it!" She said with her arms folded and a 'sweet' smile. I looked at Loki and he was surprised, really surprised. He growled, obviously not wanting to be beaten by an immortal pregnant woman who is mated to a god. "When I get out of this, you'll pay dearly, dearly indeed." He said with anger in his eyes. She just yawned and pretended to look at a watch. "Yeah, that might be a long time, Thanos." She said with that newly discovered sass. He kept punching and punching the shield, until eventually he was released and he looked at her with disgust. "Prepare to be eternally tormented, you bitch." He said trying to get up, but she lifted him up in the air just as she lifted a hand up, and ended up squeezing his heart from the inside, he was trying to counter her magic, but eventually, Thor had smacked Thanos silly on the side of his head, before he stepped aside to have Amber, who somehow had an axe in her hand, to approach him, raising it in the air. Thanos just laughed at her before she swung it down on him, ending with a sickening squishing sound. "That was for calling me a bitch, you asshole!" she yelled before spitting on him. She walked up to Loki, who embraced her tightly, shaking his head at her and kissing her head. "I told you not to do anything that would harm him." He lightly scolded at her, who slapped him on the shoulder. Eventually the rest of the Chitauri were killed and cleanup was about to be started, but not without a feast to celebrate the victory. I was glad that was over, that was for sure.

Hope you guys liked this one, i think i did an okay job with it!
