Wow, it's been quite a while since I posted. Thank you to everyone still following this story and I finally found some direction with the piece so expect more updates soon. Enjoy!

Disclaimer: I do not own South of Nowhere. I only own made up aspects of story.

"Kale, I'm sorry, but I really don't think we should go on a date together. I understand you like me, but it's not going to happen." Hopefully that gets him off my back for a little while. I've got more important things to think about, like Ashley.

"Spencer, are you listening to me?!" Oh no, Madison is fuming. Like face red, heavy breathing type of fuming.

"Yes, Madi. You said that those two are ridiculous and you can't believe they have the nerve to come together." I finish with a heavy sigh. Thank goodness I was half-listening to Madi while lost in my own thoughts.

"Why can't girls just tell you what's going on in their heads and not play games?" Her expression changed immediately to a look of defeat and sadness. Madison's words were my exact thoughts, except the girls were different.

"Is Insomnia still going to happen with our group? They seem pretty upset." Finally Ashley caught on to the bad vibe. Despite me wanting to say that it would all happen, I was having my own doubts.

"We will just have to wait and see," I replied to Ashley's text. This next week may be the death of me if our group doesn't start to get along better. With Madi hating Shanice who is having "fun" with Carmen and Carmen hating Kylie who Madi is having "fun" with and all the while Carmen and Madi claiming they still love each other. Now throw me in with Shanice being my ex and trying to turn Ashley, the straight girl. We have ourselves in quite a predicament.

The week went by unbelievably slow while planning for Insomnia. I was already freaking out about my outfit and Ashley's texting had been very slow and lacking substance. She was making it seem like she didn't want to go to Insomnia, but what was I supposed to do to change her mind?

"You still up for Insomnia tomorrow night?" I asked her on Thursday night. Surprisingly, I didn't wait long for a response.

"Uh, I'm not sure. I mean I don't have a ride." This could be a problem as I knew that my parents and Madi's dad were getting tired of the high gas bills it took to pick her up.

"Kyla can't bring you? You can invite her, as well." Maybe her sister can assist us in this situation. Literally kept my fingers crossed waiting for a reply.

"I don't want to ask Kyla any favors. She already gets mad when I ask for rides to school." Here she is with excuses again. Guess I'm going to have to find gas money that my parents won't know about to pick her up.

"Okay, I'll come get you tomorrow after school." I hate lying to my parents and going behind their backs knowing they won't want me driving across L.A. at that time of day to get her, but I am really feeling this girl.

"I don't know. I will let you know tomorrow. Night." Guess that is the end of our conversation for the night unfortunately. Maybe my dreams will help me escape…

It's 2:00 on Friday. I get out of school in a half hour, we have no tickets, and I have yet to hear from Ashley today.

"Let's just go anyway. Ashley doesn't know what she's missing. You will have fun." Madi is trying to convince me to go without her so I can sober drive. Of course I'm the only one who doesn't care to go to this dance party drunk. Can't she see my pissed off expression due to her persistent nagging I've dealt with all day?

"Madi, you just want to go for Kylie and the booze. Don't play around, I'm not dumb." Now I'm starting to get irritated knowing that she's just using me for a ride. "I'm probably not going."

"Don't be like that now. Come on, you know we want you there." Madi's attempt at convincing me isn't very helpful.

"Fine, if you want a sober driver you have her, but I will probably just go in to make sure you're okay and then dip out. You can buy my ticket for me." I'm not going to have fun tonight.

We are at Madison's house when she looks at me and gives me her famous smirk.

"What is it, Madi? You have that look. I'm not stupid." I flash her a death glare. I'm not in the mood for her dumb remarks.

"Check your phone." My phone hasn't gone off so I'm curious what she is talking about. "Look through your notes under the "Class Schedule" tab."

"Hey, I knew you wouldn't look here until Madi told you, but I wanted to surprise you. Don't be mad at me, but meet me at the gas station at 124 East St. at 10:30. I will be there -Ashley" So this girl has something up her sleeve, huh? But she was just telling me yesterday that she wasn't sure if she was going.

"Madi, she just was super indecisive yesterday." I give her a questioning look while playing with my hair. Why is she smirking still?

"Of course she was being like that, dumbass. She was trying to surprise you. Now we wait until my dad leaves for work, we will call him to say we are going to bed, and then sneak out to get our girls." This night just got a lot more exciting.

It's 10:28 and I'm waiting at the address she gave me.

"Spencer, stop foaming out the mouth. She's going to be here alright?" I get very impatient even though I'm the early one. As soon as I open my mouth to reply, a sleek black mustang with blacked- out windows pulls up and out steps a gorgeous Ashley. I can't see who the driver is, but I'm pulled away from looking for the driver by Ashley's outfit. She pulls off the snapback and vans look well.

"Hey, Spence. I knew that you would be here." Ashley says with a smirk.

"Oh yeah? Well you did have me upset for a bit there thinking that you weren't going to show up." I look up into liquid brown eyes after finishing pretending to be mad at her.

"How can I make it up to you?" She says in a low voice while winking. As I'm about to reply, Madison's impatient attitude cuts in.

"Okay, Ashley is here. Can we get to the dance now?" She is irritated, but I can't pull myself away from the thought of the closeness between Ashley and me. This night is just getting started….
