Wait… Khione desperately tried to collect her jumbled thoughts, her mind in a frenzy, "That mean-" she stopped in midst of her thoughts are realized what she was just about to say. Rose nodded, her expression dark.
"All hail the Queen!" speechless, Khione watched as the entire guild went down on their knees, bowing to her.
"I'm… the queen?" she whispered. "No… " she said, shaking her head, and her voice grew louder "No! Stop it! All of you! I… I never asked for this!"
"I'm sorry child," Makarov said, his head bowed, "but you, as the firstborn child, are now the rightful heir to the throne."
Overwhelmed, Khione cradled her head in her hands. This isn't right, she insisted, I don't want this! A gentle hand on her shoulder broke her train of thought and she slowly raised her head to see Rose smiling at her.
"Don't worry," Rose reassured, "we're all still here for you, nothing is going to change."
Things did change, however, and there was nothing Khione or anyone could do about it. Wearily stepping down from her throne, Khione sighed as she wistfully looked out the window. Suddenly, there was a gust of wind as a streak of light made its way into the room.
"How are you holding up?" Rose asked, her wings dispersing into golden particles as she walked towards her friend. Khione groaned.
"Thank god you came," she complained, "being Queen is so much more boring than you would think it is." Rose chuckled.
"Well I'm glad that you've accepted it, at least," she remarked. Khione made a sour face. "It's not like I have much of a choice. Without my magic, there's really nothing I can do back at the guild." Rose's expression softened.
"I know it's tough, but we're doing everything we can, Khione," she assured and her expression became determined. "I'll do anything I can." Khione smiled.
"Is that why you came then?" Rose pouted.
"Yes… but what's wrong with wanting to see my dear friend?" Khione laughed.
"Okay, I get it… follow me."
"There's something I forgot to mention," Rose said as they walked into the now taped off stadium.
"What?" Khione asked, waving away the guards that bowed as soon as she approached. Rose's expression tightened.
"Well… I thought of a plan you see, just an idea that might work."
"What is it?" Khione pressed, interested. Rose took a deep breath.
"I was thinking that, since I lost my demon, I could mayb-"
"NO!" Khione shouted, startling the guards, and spun to face Rose. Unwavering, Rose stared back at her.
"Why not?" she demanded. Khione clenched her fist.
"It's too dangerous!" she argued. Rose crossed her arms.
"No it's not."
"Who cares if I can't use my magic? You could die if you did that Rose!"
"So what?!" Rose shouted back, her voice escalating in pitch and tone. "How do you think I feel, seeing my friend powerless? I've survived death before, I'll be fine!"
"There is no way I'm letting you do that!"
"You have to!" Rose insisted. "You can't possibly leave that thing," she gestured wildly towards the giant hunk of ice in the middle of the stadium, "… there!"
"And what if I do?!" Khione argued.
"Then what happens when you die?" Rose demanded, and Khione fell silent. "It's going to go away, that's what, and nothing's going to be fixed."
"Fine," Khione admitted, knowing that Rose was right. "There's no need to do something so stupid and reckless, though!" she insisted, "Wait until they think of another solution… "
Rose laughed. "Wait until never, that is. My plan is the only thing that's going to work. If I can take out one of the demons by sealing it, I'll also be strong enough to battle the remaining two together with other mages." Khione sighed, knowing there was no way to change Rose's mind once she was set on something.
"I'll discuss it with the officials… " she reluctantly agreed at last. A smile lit up Rose's face.
"Great!" she said, "I'll get Gramps to talk to the other guild masters about it, we're going to need all the help we can get."
"Is that Fairy Tail mage serious?" a man asked, incredulous.
"It does make sense though… " another added.
"Do you think it will work?" Khione asked, as she faced her advisers at the table. They all considered this question and, one by one, nodded their heads. Khione sighed. "I don't like this," she admitted.
"Your friend is right about this one," came a voice from the hallway as a girl admitted herself in.
"Princess Hisui!" Nodding, Hisui turned towards her sister.
"I know this is hard for you, Khione, but your friend is right… it's the only way." Khione frowned.
"Very well then," she finally said, getting up, "two weeks from today, I will remove my shield from the stadium. Have all the mages you can gather ready then." The rest of the advisors rose as well.
"Very well."
