Okay, before I forget to bring this up again, the song that Ally was showing Maya in one of the previous chapters is called Worth It by Sam Tsui. Who is totally awesome, by the way. :D
Disclaimer: I own nothing.
It isn't long before the ghost brings me to another scene to, well, see. I groan due to boredom.
Because there they are again – the couple who were just fighting are now back together. Am I surprised? Well, why would I be? It is obvious that they would get back together.
But that doesn't mean it was necessarily the right thing to do... If a couple breaks up once and gets back together, chances are that it won't work again. If a couple breaks up twice and gets back together, it really won't work again. An optimist would say that they were persistent. If a couple breaks up thrice... It's like baseball. Three strikes and you're out.
Aaron and Ally this time are sitting side by side in front of the piano. It's the same piano from when Ally was playing by herself that one time. The room still has the same music notes painted on the walls and the same window that showed a view of the streets down below. Aaron sits listening and watching to Ally play a song – one that I haven't heard of before. It was nothing specific, just a calm melody played on the black and white keys.
When Ally finishes playing, she and Aaron lock eyes. Aww, how sweet...
Ahaha. No. I roll my eyes.
"Beautiful," Aaron says. He flashes another smile at the brunette. "Just like you."
She, of course, blushes. Her cheeks turn a rosy pink. "You're too sweet."
Next thing I knew, they are locking lips instead of eyes. I didn't even see it coming. Aaron was the one to make the move – obviously – and Ally accepted it. Things quickly get intense and what started as an innocent little kiss turned into a make-out session.
Gross.
I turn away from the sight and focus my attention onto the city skyline outside of the window. It doesn't look any different than it did the last time I was in the room. Taxis drive by in the streets, people walk in and out of the shops, and street vendors attempt to sell their merchandise to as many tourists possible.
It reminds me of the few times that I've been to New York, whether it was for New Year's Eve or for a concert tour. There are excitement and opportunities everywhere in the Big Apple. Disney World may be the place where dreams come true, but New York is where the magic happens. Except it isn't conducted by a mouse in red pants.
I think about coming to New York again several times since the last tour. It would be just to go for fun – go see the Statue of Liberty, watch something on Broadway, and find out what the difference is between a New York style hot dog and a Chicago style hot dog.
I think about what it would be like if I hadn't led a career in music. Instead, I'd be a famous basketball player, hopefully in the Miami Heat, traveling all over the country just playing a good game. I could have stayed on the basketball team in high school instead of leaving it to stay healthy. I could have spent my allowance on new equipment instead of new instruments. I could have gone to the park every day with my friends for a friendly game instead of sit at home trying to write a song. I could have done this, and I could have done that, but I didn't.
I didn't do any of that because my life was music. I chose music. And I remembered the day it really started. I remember when I walked into-
A thud is heard on the floor. My thoughts are temporarily torn away from me as I take a quick glance at what happened near the piano.
Somehow, they ended up on the floor. Did they seriously just fall off the bench? And they are still going at it?
I sigh and turn away again. Was there a point to this? If the goal was to gross me out, mission accomplished. "Is there a reason as to why I'm here?" I turn back to the ghost.
But he wasn't there.
I furrow my eyebrows, confused. Where the hell did he go?
Then, everything before my eyes changed. Just like that.
My eyes again are on the couple, but they weren't on the floor anymore. It is like they never were. The two stand face to face. Their eyes are sad, yet somehow angry.
"I can't do this!" Aaron says, shutting his eyes. "I can't stand it anymore. It's like all we do is fight! Fight, fight, fight."
I could tell Ally is exhausted. She is breathing heavily, like she just had an intense workout. No words come out of her mouth for a moment. Then, she looks up at him, despite the fact that he still has his eyes closed.
"You're right." Her tone is calmer than I thought. "We're done. Over."
What did I say? It was just like how I thought it was: three strikes – or three break ups – and you're out. It doesn't work. You get one shot at the guy, and if you blow it, then you blow it.
Ally tears her gaze away from Aaron and starts to walk out of the room, leaving him there. Aaron finally opens up his eyes again and turned around, as if expecting to see Ally still there.
But she was already gone. It was all over now. Aaron and Ally? They're no more.
Before I could think of what to make of what I just saw, the scene shifts again.
I was no longer in the music room. I was outside – but in the rain. Yet, I was still dry; I wasn't getting wet at all. Huh, guess weather elements don't affect me either... I spin around where I am, looking for the ghost, but he still isn't there.
Not too far away from me, I hear shouting over the clapping thunder. There are two people outside alone, drenched in the rain. Not like they looked like they cared though. I think they were a little busy.
"After all this time, it was a huge lie?!" I hear a girl yell.
The guy near her answers, "I told you, I had reasons for this! It's not like it was easy lying to you!"
"But you still couldn't trust me enough to tell me?" I notice that a bit of her makeup ran down her cheeks. And even in the rain, the tears are definitely distinguishable on her face. It looked horrendous.
Mister Heartbreak on the other hand had his fists clenched as he looks at the girl. "Ally, I'm sorry, okay?" He takes slow steps toward her and they were only a few feet apart when she stopped him.
"No, Gavin," Gavin. I remembered him... The memory was vague, but he was still there. "I'm the one that's sorry. Just go." She looks down.
Gavin attempts to make eye contact, but the brunette doesn't look up. "Ally, I..." His voice trails off, and he knew that it is no use anymore. She had made up her mind, and he trudges away, hands shoved in his pockets.
Scene change – again. And still no sign of the ghost anywhere. What kind of trick is he playing?
But this time, I find myself in the dark. Nowhere specific that I could recognize, it is just dark.
However, I see a billion lights blinking. Like a Christmas tree in the middle of the night – an array of colorful lights shining in the darkness. Though, this isn't exactly like that.
I look around, puzzled. Everywhere I look is Ally. She is literally everywhere. Mini clips of her are seen all around me, and there isn't one place where she isn't in my sight. Ally here, Ally there, Ally everywhere.
My hearing automatically focuses on one of the mini clips. She says – though more like cries: "This is never going to work. Ever."
And coming from another direction, another one of the images speak up, "Unbelievable. I can't believe you would do that!"
I look around more in the darkness. They just keep coming and coming.
"You have to go, okay? Go!"
"I don't want it to end, but it was better this way."
"Get OUT of my house. You're not wanted here."
"You broke it. You broke the trust. You broke everything."
"I can't take you back. I can't."
These images... I don't understand what they all were of. At first, I just see Ally. And now, I see Ally – an Ally with that hurt look in her eyes, her lips pursed together, the tears streaming down her cheeks. That's all I started to see here – her looks of depression, of sadness, of anger. It was written all over her face.
I don't know why, but it drove me crazy. It drove me crazy that there was so much pain everywhere. Pain in her eyes, pain in her words, and drops of pain slid down her face.
And after who knows how long, I just couldn't take it anymore. I just about stumbled to the ground, landing on one knee. My eyes shut tight; I laid my right forearm on my standing knee and then laid my forehead on my arm. I didn't know what to think. I didn't know what to make of everything that I saw. Aaron, and Gavin, and Ally – just everywhere I looked. I didn't know. My heart beat like crazy, like I was scared or anxious or nervous or something.
My one standing knee starts to tremble, and I end up losing total balance and fall on my side.
I just don't know what to do anymore.
I allow myself to slowly open my eyes. Still on my side, I expect to find myself looking at a bunch of floating Ally images around me.
Instead, I see that I am in an abandoned, old alley. In an instant, I stand up, and dust off my clothes.
Off in the corner, not too far, I see a man sitting with his back against the brick wall of a building. His clothing isn't exactly...clean, but he still managed to have a hood over his head. His jeans were ripped badly, one of his shoes had a hole in them, and his gray sweater had a few dark stains on it. Additionally, he had a pair of gloves on – the kind where your fingers can be exposed – and in his hands, an old aluminum can. In that aluminum can were a few measly coins. Not much was in there.
His face angled down, I still noticed the can held out in front of him. For whatever reason, I reach into my pocket to see if I had anything there. I doubted it.
And yet, out came a single dollar coin. I didn't even know I had one.
I wasn't sure what to do with it, so I drop it in the can. And as soon as it did, there was a clank in the aluminum can.
This catches the man's attention and causes him to look up and around, obviously not noticing me. He takes a peek into his can and takes out the one dollar coin I managed to put in. Wait, how was that possible?
However, that's not what bothers me.
What bothers me more is that I recognize the man. I recognized him way too well, that I took a step back due to shock. I feel the next brick wall already behind me and I refuse to believe what I am seeing. No, it isn't possible. It couldn't be fucking possible.
The man I see on the ground in front of me looked a lot like someone I knew pretty well. And that someone I knew pretty well is me.
And in my head, I hear a single voice: Welcome to the future. You've seen Ally's, now here's yours.
Heh... Sorry about the cliffhanger. :3 I just had to end it there. Also, I apologize for the shortness of the chapter. ...And the fact that I might not update for another while. A few weeks at most, I promise. Long story short, I'm going on vacation for a while.
So, yeah. Um. I feel like I might have to do a little explaining for some reason. So, this is all the future, right? "Welcome to the future. You've seen Ally's, now here's yours." So, that quote. When it says, "you've seen Ally's", it's meant like all those floating images of Ally – they're all part of her future, I guess you could say... Or what could be her future. And the "now here's yours" part... That'll be next chapter. :]
Also, if you don't mind, I wrote a new one-shot recently: Fallout. If you don't mind, check it out sometime? :)
Haha, so. Sorry (kinda). I liked this chapter, despite the length. What'd you think?
