" Now we hope you had a great night. See you next time." I said as Reo put his arm around my waist. I didn't move it or do anything to get out of it. Not this time. Not when the game has already begun.
I woke up the next morning from someone knocking on my door. I thought at first that maybe if I ignored it they would go away, but nope. They just kept knocking and knocking. So I drudged all the way to the door and opened it only to come face to face with Reo.
" What the hell!" I screamed.
" Good morning to you too sweetcheeks." Reo said smirking.
" What do you want and stop calling me sweetcheeks?" I said annoyed.
" Imai sent me. She said for us to meet her in your Uncle's office." Reo said.
" Fine. Give me five minutes." I said.
" Can't even sleep in on a Sunday." I mumbled.
Five minutes later Reo and I were heading to my Uncles office. When we got there Kazuma and Emiko were sitting on the chairs, Hotaru and my brother were standing and my Uncle was sitting at his desk.
"What's up." I said as I sat in the seat next to Kazuma, while Reo sat in the seat next to me.
" Your brother and I have been informed about your deal with Reo." My Uncle said sternly.
"And?" I asked
"And we don't think you should do this." My Uncle said.
" Mikan what you've agreed to-" Onii-chan said before I cut him off.
"What I've agreed to is my choice, my doing." I said sternly.
" Mouri-san what do you have to say." My Uncle asked.
" Mikan knows me. If she breaks the deal we will no longer be allies, ever." Reo said seriously.
" And what would you do to my little sister is she breaks one of your stupid deals." Onii-chan asks venomously.
" The last person that broke a deal with me is dead." Reo said smirking.
" What!" My brother yelled.
" If someone breaks a deal I take something from them. What Mikan wants is more protection from her father and info. She breaks our deal and that protection, that info she wants so badly is gone forever." Reo says.
" How did this deal even start! Who's idea was it!" My Uncle demanded.
"It was mine." I said.
Flashback
" Whatever. We're gonna have to figure out what you're singing." I said.
We had been practicing for about two and a half hours when Hotaru said we could take a break.
" Finally! My hands are tired." Emiko said as we entered the lounge area in the studio.
" Your the one that wanted to be the drummer." Kazuma said laughing.
" I know." Emiko said smiling.
"So is this how your band practices go?" Reo asked.
" Pretty much. We rehearse until Hotaru tells us to stop." Kazuma said.
" That sounds tough. Even Crimson Dynamite doesn't rehearse like you do." Reo said.
" Is it part of that reason sweetcheeks?" Reo asked me.
" Yes and stop calling me sweetcheeks." I said annoyed
" Wait! Hold on. Mikan, Reo knows?" Kazuma said a little annoyed.
" Yes." I said sighing.
" How? Why?" Kazuma asked.
" Because Reo and I have a mutual relationship. We know each others secrets and have therefore become partners or allies." I said.
" Partners in what?" Emiko asked.
" We make deals. Speaking of deals I have one for you." I said.
" Hm. I'm listening." Reo said smirking.
" You still work with that secret government that my dad hates right?" I asked.
" Yes. Let me guess you want info on your dad." Reo said still smirking.
" And protection. If not my protection then the protection of my friends and those I care about." I said.
" Mikan what are you doing?" Kazuma said.
" Shut up!" I said.
" What do I get?" Reo said.
" What do you want?" I asked.
" Let's make this interesting." Reo said smirking.
" How so?" I said raising my eyebrow.
" You become my girlfriend. It won't be permanent and you or I can break it off, but it has to be at least for a month and it has to be public. What do you say sweetcheeks?" Reo said.
"Mikan this is insane!" Kazuma said.
" I said shut up!" I said venemously.
" So I become your girlfriend and you give me protection and info. What's the real cath?" I said. Something was up. Reo doing all that work just so I can be his girlfriend. He doesn't love me so there has to be something else.
"Spill now!" I said glaring.
"Natsume." Reo said smirking.
"Natsume? What does he have to do with anything." I asked confused.
" You don't see how he looks at you do you." Reo said.
" What do you mean." I said confused even more.
" Let's just say it's my little entertainment. You know I love games. So do we have a deal?" Reo said.
" Mik-"
" We have a deal." I said extending my hand.
I just made another deal with the devil. I hope this doesn't bite me in the end.
End of flashback
" I made the deal with the devil so I pay the price.' I said.
" Aww Mikan I'm not the Devil. I'm just his half brother." Reo said smirking.
" Shut up Reo this isn't a game." I said glaring at him.
" Oh it's always a game sweetcheeks." Reo said giving his evil smirk.
" Enough the both of you." My Uncle said.
" Reo if you hurt my niece/sister I will kill you!" My uncle and brother said at the same time.
" Mikan knows what she's gotten herself into, but you're more than welcome to make a deal." Reo said smirking.
" No they aren't." I said.
" Reo if you mean what you say then you are the main person in charge of her. For the most part do not let her out of your sight." My Uncle said.
" Fine." Reo said still smirking.
" You may all leave." My Uncle said.
" Mikan I'd like to talk to you." Onii-chan said.
" Fine." I said.
We headed for my dorm. Everyone was either in their dorms or out so no one saw us when we got to my room.
" Mikan are you sure about this deal with Reo?I want the truth" My brother said as he sat down on the couch across from me.
" No. I'm not sure, but it's the only thing I can do." I said closing up.
" Mikan don't you dare close up. Not on me." Onii-chan said.
Damn it!
" Fine." I said with a little more emotion.
" Mikan this deal, it's not the only thing you can do." Onii-chan said.
" Really! Then tell me how can we find info on dad. How can I protect everyone I love and care about. How can….How can I be so mean and cruel to the one person who understood me and was always there for me. How can I tell him everyday that I hate him. That I blame him for something he didn't do. Onii-chan why did mom have to leave us." I said as the tears started pouring out. I couldn't see, but suddenly I was in my brothers arms.
" Sh it's gonna be ok Mi-chan. I know it's hard, but we're gonna get through this. Just remember that mom loved us. She didn't want to go. Do you remember what she said to us before she died?" Onii-chan said.
"S-She said t-that she w-would a-always be w-with us." I said through sobs.
"That's right. She's always with us Mi-chan. In our hearts." Onii-chan said.
" Onii-chan, do you think we will ever be happy again. Like the way it was before mom died?" I asked.
" I don't know Mi-chan, I don't know." Onii-chan said.
We stayed like that for a few hours. Just comforting each other as we thought of more happier times. I don't know when, but I must have fallen asleep, cuz' I woke up in my room to the smell of food. I got out of bed and went to the kitchen to find my brother cooking.
" Since when do you cook?" I asked smiling as I sat at the kitchen diner.
" I'm not completely hopeless when it comes to the stuff mother used to do." Onii-chan said smiling.
" So mom taught you how to cook." I said.
" A little." Onii-chan said.
" Then what are you cooking and what time is it?" I asked, suddenly realizing that it was somewhat dark outside.
" It's seven at night." Onii-chan said.
"Onii-chan can I go for a walk?" I asked.
" Mikan it's late and it's dark out." Onii-chan said.
" Please. I'll text Reo and tell him to meet up with me. Please Rei-nii-chan." I practically begged.
" Mikan I don't think it's a good idea." Onii-chan says.
" Pretty please with a strawberry on top." I said using my old way of getting him to let me do stuff.
" Fine, but if anything happens you fight and you scream like hell." Onii-chan says.
" Thanks Onii-chan." I say as I run and give him a hug.
" Just be safe." Onii-chan say in a more serious voice.
" I will." I say as I head for the door.
I closed the door behind me and headed for the back of the school. I text Reo already telling him to meet me there. It took me only minutes to get to my destination, the back of the school. But when I got there I didn't expect to see him sitting there looking at the moon. I tried to turn around, but at that moment he looked down and spotted me. 'Snitz'
" What are you doing here?" I asked.
Snitz, that came out a little too harsh. Wait wasn't that what I was supposed to do. Be harsh to him. Protect him from my father. I need to leave. I can't be near him. My walls are already crumbling from earlier. Anything he says could just destroy the barrier I already have.
"Last time I checked this was a public place Polka." Natsume said stoic.
Damn Reo where the hell are you?
" That's not what I mean. Don't you have something else to do. Like party, hangout with your friends, or hook up with some bimbo." I said annoyed.
I am seriously going to kill Reo.
" Jealous or something Polka." Natsume said smirking.
" Why would my girlfriend be jealous of you when she has an amazing boyfriend like me." Came a voice from behind.
" Reo it's about time. Is this how you usually treat your girlfriends?" I said annoyed.
" I don't have other girlfriends sweetcheeks." Reo said as he came and put his arm around my waist.
" What the hell!" Natsume said venomously.
" What shocked that Mikan loves me. How could she not. Want proof?" Reo said smirking.
I didn't understand what Reo meant by proof until I felt his lips on mine. I couldn't do anything, but respond. If I didn't that would be breaking the deal and if I broke the deal I would lose Reo as an ally. We broke apart when both of us needed air.
" Is that proof enough for you?" Reo said smirking.
" I didn't ask you for proof and why the hell would I care about your girlfriends. Anyone who dates you is just a pathetic idiot whose desperate and dumb enough to go out with you." Natsume said before he stormed off.
" Wow! I didn't expect him to get that mad." Reo said chuckling.
" I want to kill you." I said stoic.
" But sadly for you, you can't." Reo said smirking.
" I'm going back. I've had my fresh air and you've had your fun." I said as I headed for my dorm.
" This is how the game goes Mikan! If you can't handle it you won't survive!" Reo yelled as I walked away.
Little did I know, a certain raven haired boy was listening.
When I got back to my dorm I found a note from Rei saying he had to leave, but that dinner was in the fridge. I wasn't hungry so I went straight to my room. I got changed and flopped down on my bed. Reo was right. If I can't handle this game I won't survive, and for some reason I was a survivor. Even when I thought my life was pointless I still survived. Before I fell asleep I kept thinking I have to survive.
The next morning I woke up ringing of my phone telling me I got a text. Apparently Reo is walking me to class. How sweet. (Note the sarcasm) Within half an hour I was dressed and ready to go. It was good timing too cuz' at that moment Reo knocked on the door.
"Lets go." I said as I closed the door behind me.
" Good morning to you too." Reo said smirking.
" Hn." I said.
" Someone's in a bad mood." Reo said smirking.
I didn't answer. Why should I. Answering him will only fuel my anger. Reo kept trying to talk to me, but I wouldn't answer him. But halfway to class I couldn't take it.
" Enough already!" I said.
" What? I can't simply talk to my girlfriend? Or is it about last night." Reo said smirking.
" Don't test me like that again and don't ever kiss me without my say." I said venomously.
" I told you, if you can't handle the game you won't survive. Now if this is what happened with Nat- " Reo said before I cut him off.
" It's not!" I said.
"Really. Then what's it about." Reo said smirking.
"Just don't test me again. You should know by now that I know fully what will happen if i break or deal." I said annoyed.
"One can never be too sure." Reo said smirking.
"Whatever." I said rolling my eyes.
By that time we had already gotten to the class. I could here everyone talking from outside the room. When I reached to open the door Reo intertwined his hand with mine and opened the door before I could. I guess the show starts now.
As we entered the class everyone went silenced. They were all looking at our intertwined hands.
" So it's true." Someone said, breaking the silence.
After that the class exploded with people talking at the same time, mainly the girls.
" When did u guys start dating?"
"Mikan how did you win Reo-kuns heart?"
" Did you win his heart during the performance?"
"Ladies, ladies please calm down. You're making my sweetheart uncomfortable. And quite frankly I don't like it when people make my girlfriend uncomfortable." Reo said giving everyone his evil smirk.
In less than a second everyone was silent.
" Better sweetcheeks?" Reo asked smirking.
" Thanks Reo!" I said, giving my best fake smile.
Everyone was shocked that i actually smiled. We walked to our seats with me sitting next to Natsume and Reo sitting behind me next to Kazuma. For some reason when I sat down I felt someone glaring at me but i ignored it. Suddenly the door opened to reveal Narumi.
"Ohayou my lovely students." Narumi said skipping into the room.
" I have wonderful news! The school is having their first ever Talent Competition! The winner or winners, depending on if it's a group, gets a record deal with Japan's top record producer." Narumi said excitedly.
The class erupted into chaos. Some were excited others were curious. I on the other hand had a mixture of thoughts. This was good. Really good. If we won then….no I can't think like that. I can't put my hopes up. Every time I put my hopes up in the past they just slammed into the ground taking me with it. But I couldn't deny that I was a little bit excited.
" Quite down class!" Narumi said. The class went silent, but I could tell they still had questions.
" The sign up sheets will be available during lunch until tomorrow during lunch. Free period!" Narumi shouted, running for the door.
Great, not. As soon as he left the class erupted into chaos.
" Mikan-chan are you signing up?" Anna said, coming up to my desk.
" Yea sweetcheeks! You should sign up. I am." Reo said smirking from behind me.
I swear my vain popped.
" Reo sweetie, don't you know me by now. Of course Dark Crimson is signing up." I said forcing a smile.
For a second Reo's expression darkened.
" Now sweet cheeks, you know I was just playing." Reo said forcing a smile.
" Aw you two are so cute together!" Anna squealed, oblivious.
" Tch only an idiot would think they look good together." Natsume said suddenly.
" What!" I said, suddenly getting irritated.
Natsume could be a jerk to me, but not to my friends.
" You're an idiot as always Polka." Natsume said looking at me.
By that time the room was silent. Everyone was looking at us.
" Listen you can talk rude and arrogantly to me, but not to my friends." I said glaring at him.
" Apologize to Anna now!" I said.
" I don't listen to desperate ugly little girls like you." Natsume said before he got up and left.
I didn't show it, but that hurt. Another reason why I hate myself so much.
" Mikan-chan you didn't have to do that." Anna said a little sad.
" He doesn't have the right to treat you like that." I said before getting up.
" Reo I'm ditching too. You coming." I said.
" I'll follow you wherever you want to go." Reo said smirking.
The girls squealed at Reo's comment, but they didn't know the real meaning of what Reo said. We headed for no place in particular and ended up at the north forest. I sat down by a tree and Reo sat down next to me. We were silent for a while until I finally spoke up.
" Did you get Natsume mad on purpose since you know I have to stay away from him?" I asked Reo.
" Yes." Reo said honestly.
" Thanks." I said with not much emotion.
" A deals a deal." Reo said sighing.
" That wasn't-" I said before Reo cut me off.
" You said to help protect the people you care about. Is Natsume not one of them." Reo stated.
I didn't say anything.
" Mikan we both have suffered and lost ourselves in the darkness. I don't see a chance of us going back to the light anytime soon." Reo said.
" What about the competition?" I asked.
" It's not about you winning and fulfilling that dream of yours." Reo said.
" Then what's it about?" I asked.
" We need to fix the problem with your father." Reo said.
He looked like he had something else to say, but chose against it.
" Say it!" I said.
" Say what?" Reo asked.
" You were about to say something." I said glaring at him.
" You know me so well." Reo said shaking his head and smirking.
" I was going to say that I don't think you entering this competition is a good idea. Your father is looking for you and that would be the perfect opportunity to find you." Reo said.
" I know. I already thought about that, but I have to. Like you said. We are already in the darkness. Right now all I can do is embrace it." I said emotionlessly.
" Then into the darkness we go." Reo said giving his evil smirk and going back to his original self.
" Into the darkness we go." I said agreeing.
*line*
We skipped all our morning classes, but when the bell for lunch rang we decided to go get some food. When we got to the cafeteria there was a huge crowd of people outside the door. I saw Hotaru and Kazuma and decided to go up to them.
" Hey! Is this all for the competition?" I asked.
" Mostly, yes." Kazuma said smiling.
" Did you sign us up?" I asked.
" Hotaru did way in advance. And she put Reo's name down too." Kazuma said smiling.
"Of course." I said.
" We should head in then." I said as I headed for the door.
When we got to our seat Anna and Nonoko were talking animately.
" What are you guys talking about?" Kazuma asked.
" The competition of course!" Nonoko said smiling.
" Right." Kazuma said.
" Did you guys look at the bulletin?" Anna asked.
" No. Why?" I asked.
" It has the first round already set up." Nonoko said.
" The first round is a free for all. You can do whatever genre you want and its on December 24 at 6pm and after is the Christmas Eve dance." Anna said.
" That gives us a little over a month." I said calculating the weeks and what not.
" Think you won't be ready!" Reo said smirking.
" Of course we'll be ready. I'm always ready." I said smirking.
" The question is will you be ready." I said smirking.
" Oh I'll be ready." Reo said smirking.
" You guys make it so intense." Anna and Nonoko said giggling.
" It's supposed to be intense. It's a competition." I said.
" True." Permy said from behind me.
" Permy, where were you?' I asked curiously.
" Yea! You're hair is a mess and your lipstick is smeared." Anna and Nonoko said giggling again.
" What! I..uhm..I.." Permy said not really looking at us.
" Where you making out with Koko again!" Anna and Nonoko nearly shouted.
Permy's face turned red.
" No!" Permy said.
" Oh really." Anna said giggling.
" Ugh!" Permy said storming off.
" So are they going out then?" I asked nonchalantly.
The table went silent. Anna and Nonoko knew I wasn't on good terms with Crimson Dynamite.
" Listen it's fine if you guys date them. I'm not going to stop you and I'm not gonna stop being your friend. The rift between me and Crimson Dynamite is between just me and them. Not you guys." I said sighing.
" Really? Cuz' we feel like we're going behind your back." Anna said a little sadly.
" You're not. If they make you happy then that's good for me, but if they hurt you I will hurt them tenfold." I said.
" Really! Anna and nonoko said smiling.
" Yea! They're great people. We used to-" I said before I cut myself off.
Flashback
I was nine years old hanging out at Natsume's house with Koko, Ruka, Kitsu, and Yuu. We were watching a movie about how a girl lost her best friend.
" Hey we're gonna be best friends forever right?" I said looking at all of them.
"Tch baka. Of course we will." Natsume said.
" Yea Mi-chan." Ruka said smiling.
" Who else will I have laugh at my awesome jokes." Koko said with a goofy smile.
" Your jokes are lame. Even my grandma tells better jokes." Kitsu said laughing.
" Hey!" Koko said annoyed.
" Guys I don't think Mikan-chan meant that." Yuu said.
" Of course we know that!" Kitsu and Koko yelled at the same time, which made me laugh.
" You guys will always be my best friends forever, no matter what!" I said smiling.
They all smiled back except for Natsume who just nodded.
Too bad I broke that promise.

"Nevermind. Just as long as they make you happy." I said stoic.
" Thank's Mikan-chan! You're the best!" Anna and Nonoko said in unison.
I wish they wouldn't say stuff like that. If they knew the truth they wouldn't be saying that. If they knew what i've done they would turn their backs on me. They would hate me.
*Time Skip*
I was lying in my bed since school ended. I had convinced Hotaru that we should have band practice tomorrow and that I would start on a song tonight. Right now it was 7:45pm and I didn't want to get up, but I had , I got up, grabbed a Special K bar and headed for the studio. When I got there I headed straight for the acoustic guitar. I picked it up and started to randomly strum the guitar. I didn't know what to do for the song. At least the first round wasn't for another month or so.
" About to play a song?" I voice said from the door.
I looked up and saw Rei-nii-chan.
" Onii-chan! What are you doing here?" I asked.
" What? I can't visit my favorite sister." Onii-chan said smirking.
" That's not what I meant." I said rolling my eyes.
" Hotaru said you entered the competition." Onii-chan said.
" So that's what this is about." I said a little annoyed.
" It's not a good idea." Onii-chan says.
" Reo said the same thing." I said.
" Then you should listen to him." Onii-chan said.
" No! He's taken everything from me, but I'm not gonna let him take my music from me." I said.
" Mikan-"
"No! Every time I think about him I feel the pressure and with him back I feel like I'm going to break any minute now. Music is how I let all that pressure go. I put my feelings into my songs and without it I feel hollow and empty." I said.
" I feel the pressure getting closer Onii-chan." I said looking up at him with tears falling.
" Mikan I didn't mean-"
"I know you didn't, but mom said that I shouldn't let anyone take my music away from me. Not even for a second." I said looking down.
" Fine! But I'll tell Uncle to get everyone here so we can have back up if anything happens and tell Reo as well." Onii-chan said sternly.
" I will. Thank you Onii-chan and I'm sorry." I said still looking down.
" Don't. You're right. He can't control us anymore. We're better off without him and if anything goes wrong we'll be there to back you up." Onii-chan said giving a reassuring smile.
" I love you Onii-chan." I said smiling.
" I love you too little sis." Onii-chan said, smiling, before he left.
I went back to my guitar. Thanks to Onii-chan I finally had a great idea for a song.
*Time Skip: Next Day*
" Mikan-chan did you write a song?" Emiko asked me on our way to class.
" Yea most of it. It's still a work in progress." I said.
" I'm so excited. If we win we get a contract from the top producer in all of Japan!" Emiko said excitedly.
I stopped.
" What's wrong Mikan-chan?" Emiko asked.
" If? If we win? No we are going to win ok! We have to win" I said to Emiko.
" Yea! We will win!" Emiko said with more spirit.
" Good." I said as we went to each other classes.
When I got to class everyone was talking loud as always, but I didn't care much. I went straight to my seat and turned to Reo.
" Did you get the message last night?" I asked stoic.
" Yup. I already called and they said they will be here." Reo said smirking.
" Good. Uncle would probably have said no if it wasn't for you so thanks." I said stoic.
" Hm is the great Mikan Sakura thanking me?" Reo asked faking shock.
" I have no idea what you are talking about." I said smirking.
Unfortunately, I didn't realize that Natsume heard everything.
I looked in front of me and noticed that Hotaru wasn't there.
" Hey Kazu! Where is Hotaru?" I asked turning to Kazuma.
" She said she was going to the principal's office to talk about the competition." Kazuma said.
" Ok." I said.
After that the door slammed open revealing my brother.
" Everyone back to your seats." Onii-chan said in a deathly quiet voice.
Within seconds everyone was sitting down.
" How many of you entered the competition?" Onii-chan asked stoic.
Most of the people in the class raised their hands.
" Well most of you won't pass the first round." Onii-chan stated.
" What do you me Sensei?" Luna screeched.
" One hundred people, groups, or whatever you want to call it, signed up and only the top fifty will go on to the next round." Onii-chan stated in a bored tone.
The entire class gasped in shock, well except for a few. No one really thought of how many people would go on to the next round. I guess now they know. For the rest of the class period my brother let us talk, but not too loudly. When lunch came around Reo and I decided to go to the studio.
" Finished your song yet?" Reo asked as we sat in the studio.
" Almost." I said.
" How about you?" I asked.
" About half." Reo said.
" So what are you doing this weekend?" I asked nonchalantly.
" Going to a -"
"Party!" I said finishing his sentence.
" Exactly!" Reo said smirking.
" Try not to cheat on me too much. You know I might break down and start crying." I said jokingly.
" You know if you come you can keep an eye on me." Reo said smirking.
" Tempting as it may be, I'm not really allowed to leave the school grounds remember." I said.
" Since when does Mikan Sakura listen to the rules?" Reo asked jokingly.
" Since she was warned that if she broke the rules she would have an actual bodyguard with her at all times." I said.
" That sucks!" Reo said.
"Yea!" I said sighing.
" You know his birthday is next week." Reo stated.
Yea I knew exactly who he was talking about, but I pretended like I didn't know.
" Who?" I asked not really paying attention.
" You can't fool me Mikan. We've been through this before." Reo said with a bored tone.
"Whatever you say." I said rolling my eyes.
" Now tell me. You giving Natsume anything?"
" Yes!I'm gonna give him my cold black heart and wrap it up for him." I said sarcastically.
" I'm sure he'd love it." Reo said smirking.
" Well if I don't have my heart at least I won't have to worry about my emotions." I said.
" Considering what we've been through, I think our hearts were cut out a long time ago." Reo said getting up.
" Where are you going?" I asked.
" The bells gonna ring." Reo said.
And right as he said that the bell rang. We headed to class and when we got there we were late…...by three seconds, but to Jin-Jin it's like being half an hour late.
" Sakura, Mouri you're late." Jin-Jin said glaring at us.
"Yea, by three measly seconds." I said as I sat in my seat next to Natsume, who was sleeping.
" Are you talking back to me?" Jin-Jin asked getting mad.
" No, it was just a statement. Sheesh." I said getting irritated.
" Don't sheesh me Sakura." Jin-jin said.
" Well don't get mad at me for being late by three seconds." I said.
Jin-jins face went from pink to red and not the blushing type. He was more of red with anger.
" DETENTION AFTER CLASS AND YOU TOO HYUGGA FOR SLEEPING IN MY CLASS!" Jin-Jin screamed, waking up Natsume.
No one screams at me and gets away with it.
" NO." I whispered venomously.
"What did you say?" Jino asked getting mad again.
" You think you're so smart. That you have all this power just because you're an adult. That you can yell at me like i'm worthless, like i'm nothing." I said as I started walking towards him until I was inches away from him.
" Well guess what not this time." I said smirking.
" Mikan don't!" I heard Kazuma say from behind.
I turned around to find Kazuma two feet away and the class in shock. I stopped and looked down at my balled up fists. 'What have I become?'
Kazuma POV
I was sitting in my seat waiting for Mikan when she comes walking in with Reo by her side, three seconds late. This Jino guy seems irritated at this fact. He tells them that they are late and what not. I sort of just watch it, but it isn't until he yells at Mikan that I see the flicker of fear in her eyes. The fear she has whenever she is reminded of her father. This isn't good. She starts to walk up to him telling him that he can't get away with yelling at her and it's not until I see her fists forming into a ball that I finally decide to do something. I won't let her become like this, not again. I won't let her be tainted by the darkness anymore.
"Mikan don't!" I say as I run to the front of the room, only a few feet away.
She turns around and looks at me, then at the class. Her eyes pop with shock as if she just realizes what she was about to do. She looks down at her fists and I can see her start to tremble, so I walk over to her and hug her.
"Ssh. It's fine. I'm right here. You're gonna be ok." I whisper in her ear.
When I look at her I can see the tears she is trying to hold in.
" I-I was gonna hit him." She whispers for me to hear.
" No you weren't. I wouldn't have let you." I whisper back.
I look back at Reo to find him with a smirk on his face. That sicko. I never liked him and I still don't.
" Oi Reo! Do your part. You're her boyfriend. Don't just sit there." I said reminding him of that deal they made.
It seems as if it finally clicks in his head and he comes down the steps to comfort Mikan, putting on a fake sad look. He takes her out the room while I walk over to Jino and whisper in his ear.
" If you ever do that to her again, I will have you begging me for mercy." I seethed.
Jino just looked at me with fear in his eyes and shakes his head yes.
"Good." I say.
As I go back to my seat I can see anger, sadness, and confusion in Natsume's eyes. If only he knew. If he knew what Mikan has been through he probably would have beat Jino to a pulp. Mikan did say that Natsume was protective of her a lot and the way he looks at her I can tell he misses her. After all that over with Jino actually gave us a free period, which ended in me being questioned by the entire class.
" What happened with Mikan?"
"Was she gonna hit Jino?"
"Why did she suddenly freakout?"
If it wasn't for Hotaru's baka gun I'm sure I would have yelled.
" All of you will go back to your seats unless you want to see my baka gun in use." Hotaru said. Everyone hurried to their seats in fear.
" Thanks." I mumbled.
"Hn. Let's go look for the baka. I don't fully trust Reo." Hotaru said.
" Neither do I." I said.
" Then why the hell do you guys let him around her?" Natsume said only for us to hear. I could tell he was furious.
" Hyuuga stay out of this." Hotaru said.
As we went looking for Mikan and Reo, Natsume ended up following us.
" Go back Hyuuga." Hotaru said stoic.
" No." Natsume said irritated.
" You're just gonna end up hurting her and vice versa." Hotaru said.
" How?" Natsume said venomously.
" You'll find out soon enough, now just go back or I will sedate you." Hotaru said stoic.
" Fine, just tell me if she is ok. I don't know what's going on, but-" Natsume said before Hotaru cut him off.
" Will do. Bye." Hotaru said as we left Natsume behind.
" We could have let him come. Maybe-" I started before I was cut off too.
" Not yet." Was all Hotaru said.
Mikan POV
After the scene in class Reo took me to the north forest to calm down. I don't know how long it was before he finally talked.
" Feeling better?" Reo asked.
"Yea." I said.
I didn't cry. No, I couldn't cry. It was like I could hear my dad yelling at me to stop being a cry baby. Telling me to stop being a pathetic weak cry baby.
" Well if that's done for you ready to continue this game of ours?" Reo asked.
" Yes." I said stoic.
"Mikan!" I heard someone say.
I turned around and saw Kazuma and Hotaru heading our way.
" Kazuma, Hotaru!" I said.
Kazuma ran over and gave me a hug.
" How are you feeling? Have you calmed down?"Kazuma asked.
" Yea I'm fine." I said giggling.
" Thanks Kazuma. You saved me again back there." I said meaning every word.
" Anytime Mikan, anytime." Kazuma said smiling.
" That's all great, but we still have that deal. Remember?" Reo said.
" I don't care about that deal right now. Mikan was on the brink of a breakdown and all you care about is the deal." I seethed.
" Truth is yes. A deal is a deal. I was just making sure none of you forgot." Reo said smirking.
" Enough!" I said.
" The deal is still in tact, however you almost broke it Reo." I said glaring at him.
"How so?" Reo asked.
" A boyfriend is supposed to come to his girlfriends aid, my aid. Instead you just sat there like it was a comedy show." I said irritated.
" What can I say, Jino's fear was priceless, but you're right." Reo said suddenly getting serious.
" The deal was to pretend to be your boyfriend in order to help with your father. If I break that deal what kind of person would I be?" Reo said smirking.
" You'd still be the same lying, cheat I know you are." I said stoic.
" That hurts Mikan." Reo said pretending to be hurt.
" Guys we should go." Kazuma said from beside me.
" Ok." I said as we headed to the dorms. Yea we decided to skip the rest of the day.
Narrator POV
Little did they know a certain someone was listening in on their conversation. (You all know who that is right? or do you?! hehehe *evil smirk*)
Mikan POV
After we left the forest I decided I wanted to be left alone. I mean who could blame me, I almost assaulted my teacher. I had too much on my mind right now. So in order to forget, I watched TV. I was watching my new favorite TV show called Reign, but when it was almost done I found myself falling asleep. The last thing I remember was blood, lots and lots of blood.
I was by a lake. I think it was the lake Natsume and I used to go to when we were younger. I decided to sit by the lake and toss some rocks into the water. Natsume and I used to toss rocks into the water and make it into a game. We would always try to see who can toss the rock the farthest, I ended up losing, except for one time. I know Natsume let me win, but he wouldn't admit it. He just said it was because he was tired. I don't know how long I was sitting there, but suddenly I heard foot steps. When I looked up I saw someone I never expected to see. I saw my dad.
" Hello sweetheart." My father said smiling. Only it wasn't a normal smile. It seemed off, like something was wrong.
" W-What are you doing here?" I asked trying to stay calm.
" I miss you." My father said walking closer to me.
" Don't! S-Stay away from me!" I said frantically.
" I just want to find you. Why won't you let me find you." He said looking sad.
" This isn't real, just leave me alone!" I screamed.
"I'm real aren't I sweetheart." My dad said.
"Leave her alone." I heard a familiar voice say.
To my horror, I saw Natsume coming towards us.
"N-Natsume! What are you doing here?" I asked, finally panicking.
" Sweetheart didn't I say not to hang around this scumbag or you'd regret it." My dad said as he pulled out a gun pointing in Natsume's direction.
"I am! I've stayed away from him, just like you said." I told him frantically.
"Apparently not." My father said still aiming the gun at Natsume.
" Not it's time for your punishment." My father said grinning. (Joker style)
" Father please don-"
BANG!
" M-Mikan." Came Natsume's shocked voice as his shirt started to turn crimson red and he fell to the floor.
"Hm maybe this time you'll learn your lesson." My father said.
Before I knew it I was in front of Natsume. His shirt was socked with blood now.
"Natsume I'm so sorry." I said as tear ran down my finger.
"This wasn't supposed to happen."
He wasn't moving.
"Natsume say something." I said shaking him.
" Natsume! Natsume this isn't funny."
"NATSUME!" I screamed.
I woke up panting and sweating. Natsume's dead, but he can't be. It was only a nightmare. But it felt so real. I looked over at my phone. It was five in the morning. No point in going to bed now. So I decided to head out. Turning off the TV I walked over to my room, crabbed my music notebook and left. It was still dark outside and I was still freaked out by the dream. Every step I took I thought my father was going to pop out, or Natsume with blood on his shirt. Once I got to the studio I turned on the lights and went into the recording room. Heading over to the instruments I chose an acoustic guitar. I decided to play a song my mother wrote right before she died.

I don't really know why my mother wrote this song. I know she talks about her death, but she also mentions not to be afraid. The way she says it makes me wonder if it was for my dad. He loved her so much and her death tore him apart. I didn't realize it until I felt a drop on my hand. I was crying and I didn't care. I wanted everything to go back to the way it was. I wanted my mother back, my father back, and I wanted Natsume. I wanted to talk to him, I wanted to know if he was ok, because I keep seeing him with blood on his shirt and not moving.
"Oi Polka are you just going to stare at the floor all day." I heard a familiar voice say.
I looked up and saw Natsume dressed in a pair of skinny jeans, chucks, and a bloodless t-shirt.
"Natsume! Your not-" I started before I cut myself off.
I looked down, biting my lip. I couldn't even say it. The dream. My father shooting Natsume. No I won't let that happen. I can't talk to him. I can't get near him. I looked up to speak only to find him inches away from me.
" What's wrong? Why are you crying?" Natsume asked worriedly.
" N-nothing." I said stuttering. Damn it!
" You don't show emotions and you don't cry, yet I find you crying. Why?" Natsume said.
"It's not like I'm crying on purpose." I said trying to sound mean.
Apparently it didn't work.
" That song. Who wrote it?" Natsume asked.
"..."
" Polka! Tell me now!" Natsume said getting irritated.
"Fine! My mom ok! She wrote it during her last few days." I said looking down again.
To my surprise Natsume lifted my chin so that we were face to face. I couldn't look away from those crimson eyes of his. For once they held so much raw emotions.
"You don't have to do this Mikan." Natsume said.
"Do what?" I asked.
" Push me away. You can talk to me. You used to always talk." Natsume said.
" I can't." I said.
" Why?" Natsume asked.
" Please don't ask. Please Natsume." I pleaded as I felt more tears coming down. I could feel my walls crumbling.
"I can't." Natsume said before he hugged me.
Amu: MWAHAHAHA *COUGH COUGH*
Natsume: What the hell just happened!?
Amu: I tried to laugh evilly and ended up coughing.
Natsume: No you idiot I mean-
Amu: Yes I know what you mean.
Natsume: *impatient* And?
Amu: It's complicated. Now DEATH!
Death the Kid: What!?
Amu: I bought this painting for you! *hands over non-symmetrical painting*
