Chapter 10

The next day Allison woke up alone in her bed, she frowned, upset that Elijah wasn't still in bed with her. She figured that he had vampire stuff to attend to. Allison reached over to the night stand and grabbed her phone checking the time. 11:46am. Shit. Allison shot out of her bed and ran towards the shower, she was late for her lecture. She quickly got ready and made her way out of the compound towards one of the Mikaelson's many cars and made her way to campus.

Allison finished out her day of classes and chose to stay after in the library to get caught up and ahead on some work. Being involved with the vampire community really took its toll on her grades. It was close to midnight when she decided that she better head back to the compound. She hadn't talked to any one all day and she didn't want them to get worried. She also wanted to know if something happened with all this vampire drama.

When Allison arrived back at the compound she searched around for Klaus or Elijah. The compound was always quiet now that Elijah exiled Marcel and kicked out all of his vampires. To be honest it got kind of lonely. She found them in Klaus's study.

"Hey." Allison said crossing the threshold of the room.

"And where were you all day?" Klaus asked with a smirk. "Figured you'd be sleeping off your night."

Allison glared at him as Elijah said, "Enough Niklaus."

"For your information I was at school. You know that University that I just so happen to attend." Allison answered then continued, "So update me. What's going on in the wonderful world of vampires?"

"Well first Marcel's massacre, then someone sent bombs out to the bayou." Klaus said.

"What? Is Hayley okay?" Allison asked interrupting him.

"She is fine. I assume you're ready to give up this doomed treaty brother?" Klaus directed towards Elijah.

"This alliance with the wolves if it is to work, I assume you will be needing this." Elijah answered handing him what looked like a very old book. "The rifts in this city run far deeper than I could have imagined. These tribes, the factions, the families, families will choose to fight. Mayhem has descended upon our home, and if I'm to choose a side, then it will be our victory brother." He finished. Elijah then walked to the bar grabbing a drink for himself and Klaus. He handed his brother the drink and said, "To our victory brother." They then brought their glasses together in a toast.

Allison's phone suddenly started vibrating rapidly signaling she was getting a call. She pulled the phone out of her backpack and watched as Cami's name and picture flashed on her screen. She pressed the accept button and pressed the phone to her ear.

"Hey Cami, what's up?" Allison said in to the phone. She hadn't talked to her friend in such a long time. She had been so focused on trying to help her uncle. Allison felt bad that she wasn't there more for her friend during this tough time.

Before Allison could get another word out Cami's frantic voice shot through the phone. "Thank you Allie, thank you, thank you so much!" Hearing the blonde human's excitement made Klaus and Elijah look towards where Allison stood.

"Um, you're welcome?" Allison shot a confused look at the two men in the room. "What exactly are you thanking me for?"

"Genevieve, she healed my uncle." Cami said relieved in to the phone.

"What? Why would she…?" Allison started to ask but was cut off by her friend.

"You Allie. She said she felt bad for you, getting caught up with the Mikealson's. That you'd surely have enough tragedy because of them, and that she wasn't here to unnecessarily cause innocents that tragedy." Allison's eyes shot towards Klaus, knowing he'd remember the earlier conversation they'd had with Genevieve. She was met with an equally confused look from the hybrid. "I don't know what you said to her, but whatever it was, thank you Allie."

"I just told her that Father K didn't deserve the hex that was put on him. You didn't deserve to lose him either." Allison responded. She had no idea why Genevieve would chose to actually do the right thing and spare the life of an innocent. As much as she may hate the witch, she had to admit, that one act did make her seem moral. "I gotta go Cami, but I'll come by soon and see Father K."

Cami laughed. "Of course, I'm sure he'll want to personally thank you."

Allison smiled, glad that there was at least one tragedy she and the people in her life didn't have to endure. "Sounds good, I'll see you soon!" Allison then hung up the phone and turned back towards the brothers. She didn't say anything, she didn't know what to say.

"Well it appears that witch knows what's good for her. I told her if the priest died she would follow swiftly after." Klaus flashed a smile and took another sip of his drink.

"It sounds like it had a little more to do with that Allison said than you brother." Her eyes snapped to Elijah's at his words. He met her gaze with an impressed and admirable look on his face. It made Allison's heart skip at the intense gaze. She never had anyone look at her like they truly admired her. It made a flood of emotions come forward in her eyes.

Klaus watched the exchange between his brother and the human with narrowed eyes. He clearly saw they had a unique connection that he had never seen his brother have with any of his past lovers. He only wished she didn't have to be a weak little human with questionable choices in friends. "I suppose you're right Elijah." Klaus brought the attention back to him.

Allison suddenly yawned and the past twelve hours of classes and studying were really getting to her, all she wanted to do was take a shower, watch some Netflix, and go to bed. "Well I'm done for the day. Night guys." Allison turned towards the door, but before she exited the room, she looked back over her shoulder to Elijah, who was watching after her. Her eyes darkened slightly and she smirked at him, hoping he would get the message and join her again the night.

A loud ring awoke Allison from her slumber. She groaned and rolled over in her bed searching for the source of the ringing. Allison briefly noted that Elijah was nowhere to be found in the room.

"Yeah?" Allison said in to the phone through a yawn.

"Allie, it's me." Davina's voice came through the phone.

"Hey D. What's up?" Allison asked stretching her limbs and slowly climbing out of the bed.

"I'm meeting Josh in the park on 8th and Highland. You should come." Davina suggested.

"Isn't Josh still technically one of Marcel's nightwalkers, how's he going outside?" Allison inquired remembering her vampire friend's hindrance.

"I just made him one." Davina clarified.

"Good job D. Getting a hold of the magic?"

"Yeah. The spell Klaus gave me is amazing." Davina said.

"That's good. And hey I know Klaus has done some unforgivable things, but he does try and make up for them. Just stay in good graces and you shouldn't have an issue with him." Allison said.

"Yeah I know, thanks Allie. So you're coming right?" Davina asked.

"Fine. But bring me some coffee I'll be there in twenty minutes." Allison said hanging up the phone.

She took a quick shower and threw on a loose high waisted skater skirt and a tight crop top, showing a sliver of skin a couple inches above her navel. She threw on some boots and made her way out of the compound. She was able to go unnoticed, it seems Klaus and Elijah were out doing whatever they do.

Allison saw Davina and Josh sitting on a bench in the park nursing cups of coffee. Davina spotted her down the block as she was approaching and smiled to her friend. Allison saw her hold up a cup of Starbucks, which made Allison quicken her pace towards the coffee.

"Hey guys." Allison greeted grabbing her coffee and taking a couple sips. "Thanks Davina!"

"Hey Allie." Josh greeted.

"How are you liking that ring?" Allison asked sitting down next to Davina.

"It's great. Have I told you that you're awesome D.? The sun, daylight rings." He then shifted his gaze towards a muscular guy jogging in the park. "That guy in the tank top." This made Allison laugh and follow his gaze.

"Josh, now that you have a daylight ring, I think you need to leave town." Davina said in a serious tone, making Allison look at her confused.

"Woah, are we breaking up?" Josh asked with a tone of humor.

"I'm serious." Davina stressed.

"Yeah I know, serious is kind of your default setting. Which is why you need me and Allie around, to lighten you up." Josh said smiling at Allison. "Ergo, not leaving."

"I agree, Klaus won't do anything to you anymore, so you don't have anything to worry about from him." Allison reminded them remembering what Klaus said at the party the previous night. Allison noticed Davina looking across the street with a faraway look on her face. "Hey are you okay?" Allison asked her friend.

"Just witch stuff." Davina dismissed. "Marcel came to me yesterday. He wanted a cloaking spell."

"For what?" Allison questioned.

"He's going to make a move against Klaus. You can't tell him though Allie. Klaus will kill him." Davina said desperately.

"I am not going to say anything. I don't want Marcel getting hurt either. Did you help him?" Allison responded.

"Yeah, but if Klaus finds out." Davina started but Josh cut her off.

"Hey if Marcel has a plan, then he can handle it. And maybe Klaus will get the hint that he's a negative on the vampire popularity chart and go in to retirement." Josh suggested.

Allison found his idea very funny. A picture flashed in to his mind of Klaus on some golf course at a country club in a funny golfing outfit, retired with Elijah. The thought almost made Allison laugh out loud.

"Klaus isn't the only thing we need to be afraid of." Davina said.

"What do you mean?" Allison asked.

"Look, if there's a war coming, promise me you'll go before you get caught up in it. Take Allie too, you guys can get out of town." Davina clarified.

"We aren't going to leave you here." Allison said. "Davina, don't worry, we can handle this, we just need to stick together."

Davina just nodded. "I need to get going." She said.

"I'll walk you back." Josh said.

"Thanks." Davina said standing up.

"You okay getting back Allie? Marcel will kill me if anything happens to you." Josh said smiling.

"I'll be fine. I need some fresh air anyway." Allison said getting up off of the bench and walking in to the quarter.

After walking for about fifteen minutes and finishing the rest of her coffee, Allison walked past Rousseau's. She noticed a crowd of people walking out of the bar and dispersing on to the street. She turned towards the bar and started walking to it, wondering why Cami would have closed up the bar. As she approached the front door, she saw that someone had pulled them closed and locked them.

Concerned for her friend, Allison made her way down an alley to the back door of the bar that led through the kitchen. She was able to get in to the bar and walked slowly watching her steps making sure she didn't make any noise. She suddenly heard voices coming from the bar.

"Let me just go find that key that I don't have." Cami voice traveled through the bar.

"My family has been in New Orleans for a long time Cami, even longer than yours," Allison immediately recognized Francesca's voice. What is she harassing Cami about? "And we've learned, it's a very hard city to get by in if you don't have any friends. I'd like to be your friend."

Allison decided to make her presence known. "She doesn't need your friendship." She approached Cami and stood by her side in front of Francesca.

Francesca smirked at Allison. "Ah, Allison. Great to see you again. I am simply informing Cami to give me what's mine." Allison glared at the use of her full name.

"Nothing is yours, it is Father K's. And while he is healing, whatever you want legally belongs to Cami. And I know how you like to stay just on the right side of the law." Allison responded strongly to the woman.

"The heads of the city have approved my taking over of the representation of the human faction. The priest is vulnerable and has been compromised." Francesca argued, smirking at the younger woman.

"Father K has been representing the humans for years. Maybe you should work with him and move aside instead of trying to over throw him." Allison glared.

"Look Cami, I am going to give you until tomorrow. And if I don't have that key by then, we'll let's just say, I will be a lot less friendly." Francesca said to Cami. The older woman then moved her gaze to Allison and took a step towards her. "And you. Watch yourself, you aren't so strong without your originals to hide behind. If that wasn't clear, this is a threat. Stay out of matters that do not concern you." She then turned and walked out of the bar, taking her body guards with her. Her body flushed with fear from the clearly dangerous woman, but her mind told her, that like herself, Francesca was very much human, and just as vulnerable, and she wouldn't risk pissing off the most dangerous family on the planet.

"Are you okay?" Allison turned towards her friend once Francesca was gone. Cami just nodded. "Hey you don't have to give her anything, what is up with this key anyway?"

"Come with me, I need your help with something." Cami said heading out the back door towards her car.

"What are you talking about Cami?" Allison asked getting in to the passenger seat.

"I found out something. When my uncle wasn't doing so well, he gave me his will. I don't know what it is but Marcel told me it was something to use against the supernatural if they ever got out of line?" Cami explained. "The key Francesca wants, it opens something, and I just don't know what. The will left me a message with the address to this place. We are going to check it out."

Allison nodded as Cami sped on to the street and towards this mystery apartment. When they got there, Cami practically jumped out of the car and up towards the front door of the apartment building, Allison had to run to catch up with her. The owner showed us the room that her uncle rented, talking to Cami about how her uncle helped them restore it after Hurricane Katrina.

The girls got in to the apartment. It was a very empty room, with minimal furniture and a fridge, that Cami found had a pack of beer in it. She handed Allison a bottle and said, "Here's to buried treasure."

Allison raised the bottle taking a sip out of it. "There has to be something here. There's no way he would send you here if there wasn't anything to find." There had to be some reason for this.

The girls noticed a closet off the side wall of the room. Cami opened the door which revealed some old clothes. She pushed them out of the way to reveal a panel on the back wall of the closet. The two girls looked at each other and Cami pulled the board away from the wall. It led into another room. It was small, almost like a wide hallway. There were shelves filled with different items and files that lined all the walls floor to ceiling.

Allison picked up an old looking syringe before putting it back down. "What the hell is all of this stuff?" There were trinkets and toys along with knives and other various types of medieval weapons.

"I have no idea. Look at this." Cami gestured to a file box that said 'FOR CAMI' on it. She set it down on the desk and simply loo ked at it.

"Well, should we open it?" Allison asked looking at her friend. Cami nodded and opened the box. Suddenly Allison's phone rang. She briefly thought about ignoring the call, but determined that it could be important, she held the device to her hear. "Hello?" Allison said in to her phone stepping away from Cami to look at the dark objects that decorated the numerous shelves of the small room.

"Allie." Davina's frantic voice came through the phone.

"Davina, what's wrong?" Allison asked her witch friend.

"I – It's Josh. Klaus bit him." Davina explained.

"What? Why?" Fuck Nik. Allison asked nervous for Josh. She knew that a hybrid or werewolf bite would kill him within a day.

"He wanted me to tell him where Marcel was. I did, and then he just left, without healing Josh. What if he just leaves Josh to die, if he doesn't make it back in time?" Davina explained.

"Damn it Klaus." Allison said to herself. "I'll make sure I get his blood Davina. We will save Josh, just hang in there for now." Allison continued to Davina. "And wait by the phone."

"Thanks Allie, please hurry."

"I will." With that, Allison hung up and turned to Cami. "Hey, I need to go, Klaus is being Klaus." Cami nodded understanding and tossed Allison her keys. "Thanks Cami, let me know if you find out anything from all this." Allison gestured around the small room that they stood in. "I can come get you if you need a ride later too, just shoot me a text."

"Will do, good luck." Cami said, waving good bye to her friend.

Allison tried calling Klaus as she made her way to the compound. He didn't answer so Allison pushed her foot down on the gas blowing through a stop sign.

She arrived at the compound a couple minutes later. Not bothering to park the car appropriately, she pulled the car on to the sidewalk in front of the compound and turned off the car. She rushed through the entrance and saw Francesca Guerra, and her brothers looking like they were having a meeting with Klaus and Elijah. She noticed Haley standing there as well. Francesca was handing him a small black bag. Great now that bitch is here?

"My price for doing business is full disclosure. You're brother complied." The woman said to Klaus. As Allison got closer to the group, she could hear more of the conversation.

"And what does the human faction look to benefit from all this?" Elijah asked her as he took a step forward.

"I only want to solidify our allegiance to the ruling class. It's good for business." Francesca explained. Allison narrowed her eyes at the woman who had just threatened her and Cami only hours ago.

"If only every one shared your capacity for reason." Klaus responded.

Allison was finally close enough to the group, she stood behind Klaus, in front of Francesca, slightly nervous around her, and she would be a fool not to take her threat seriously. The older woman looked at Allison as she responded to Klaus, "Sadly they don't." Allison could understand the hidden meaning behind her words, she was talking about the key she wanted from Cami. Allison simply hardened her glare at the older woman as she continued. "Marcel is being especially vindictive, I'm worried he might come after me or my people. Perhaps it would be better if we were to combine our efforts." She suggested, making Allison question what her intentions were.

"So be it. The more bodies we have to defend the compound the better, let's get started shall we?" Klaus said smiling at his new ally. Klaus led Francesca to another room leaving Elijah and Haley left with Allison in the main room.

"And where have you been all day." Elijah asked approaching Allison. She vaguely noticed Haley make her way upstairs.

"With Cami." Allison said shortly. She figured it would be best to keep meeting with Davina and Josh a secret as well as what her and Cami had found today. Elijah nodded. "Why is Francesca here?"

"We needed her help, and if she is willing to align with us, we can use all the help and allies we can get." Elijah explained. Allison really did not like the idea of Francesca being around. She felt something was off with the woman.

"I don't like her." Allison said crossing her arms. Elijah chuckled at her.

"Come, we have plans to execute." Elijah said holding out a hand and gesturing for her to follow him.

Elijah led Allison to a room where Haley was standing next to Genevieve, watching her perform a spell. "What's she doing?" Allison asked Elijah quietly.

"Creating moonlight rings, to shield the werewolves from the effects of the full moon." Elijah explained briefly. Allison nodded.

"My people say Marcel is on the move, and he's bringing friends." Francesca said walking in to the room with Klaus following closely behind her.

"Get Hayley and Allie to safety." Klaus told Elijah who nodded in return.

Allison moved to stand in front of the hybrid upon hearing his words. "Nik, there's no way in hell Marcel's gonna hurt me. Maybe you should worry a little more about Josh's safety." A malicious smirk formed on his face and Allison intensified her glare at him.

"Come with me." Elijah demanded, softly placing his hand on her arm.

"No." Hayley's voice stopped her from following Elijah out the door. "Someone needs to watch her." She motioned towards Genevieve.

"You should help Klaus." Francesca said to Elijah. "My brothers and their security detail won't be much against a vampire army. I'll stay with Allie and Hayley." Francesca insisted.

Allison's eyes widened. What? No! I'm not staying with her. I need to help Josh!

"Fine." Elijah resigned turning out of the room with his brother following behind him. Allison shook her head and ran out of the room after them.

"No! Klaus, wait!" The hybrid and Elijah turned around and the frantic human running after them. She caught up with them at the end of the hall, slightly out of breath. Damn, I really need to start working out again. "You, you bit Josh." Allison got out between deep breaths.

Elijah looked at his brother with a confused look at her words. "That's correct love." Klaus shrugged.

Allison glared at him. "Davina told you what you needed to know and you still didn't heal him. He doesn't have much time!"

Klaus stepped forward to stand in front of her. "Don't take this the wrong way Allie, but I do not have time to run off and heal your friend."

Tears came forward to Allison's eyes and her lip quivered at the thought of Josh dying. "He'll die Nik. Please, just give me some of your blood and I'll get it to him." She begged.

"No, this compound is safe for the time being, you will not leave." Elijah insisted, worried what she could run in to if she went off in to the quarter by herself.

"I don't care. If its Marcel's vampires you're worried about, don't" Allison met Elijah's gaze and begged him with her eyes to understand. "Marcel would never let any of them hurt me. He had Thierry pull me out of the witch's party so none of the vampires would attack me. I'll be fine." She then moved her eyes back to the hybrid standing in front of her. "Nik, what if you get distracted and can't get back to Josh in time? I will get on my knees and beg if that's what you want, but I am not going to let Josh die because of you, when you already got what you wanted out of Davina."

Klaus smirked as an image of her on her knees begging him flashed through his head. "Not necessary love." The hybrid then sped away and returned a couple seconds later. He held up a small container about the size of a travel size shampoo bottle. He twisted off the lid and bit in to his palm before squeezing his fist together and letting his blood fall to fill up the container.

Klaus then handed her the warm container. "Thank you Nik." She said gratefully. The hybrid simply nodded.

Allison turned towards one of the sets of stairs intent on getting back to Cami's car and going to find Josh. But Elijah's arm shot out and stopped her. She shot him a confused look. "What?"

"I meant what I said, you will stay in the compound where it is safe. Davina is a witch, she can figure out a way to get the blood." Elijah stated in a tone that Allison couldn't argue with. Her jaw set, she didn't like anyone telling her what to do, especially where her friend's lives were concerned. "Stay with Francesca."

Allison shook her head. She didn't like the woman. The threats that she had given were still running through her head. "I don't want to." Allison crossed her arms, causing Elijah to sigh like one would when frustrated with a toddler. "I don't trust her. She's been harassing Cami about some key, threatening me."

Elijah's eyes narrowed at this. "When did she threaten you?"

"Oh a couple hours ago." Allison shrugged. "Seems she doesn't think I'm so strong when I'm not 'hiding behind my originals.'" Allison held up air quotes and did a rather terrible impression of Francesca.

Elijah's eyes swayed over her, looking for any injuries. "Did she harm you?"

She shook her head. "I think she's up to something."

"Nevertheless. We have more pressing issues to deal with." Elijah placed his hands on her upper arms and met her eyes. "Please Allison, for me, just stay with Hayley and the Guerra's" Allison sighed in resignation, knowing that she wouldn't be able to argue any more. "Thank you. Tell Genevieve to do a spell that will get the blood to Davina." She nodded and not a second later, both of the brothers were nowhere to be seen.

Allison pulled out her phone and dialed Davina's number as she headed back to the room she had just come from. Davina picked up as Allison pulled open the door and walked past the brothers of Francesca who were guarding the door. Eyes in the room snapped to her as she entered, but she ignored them and went to stand by the window.

"Allie." Davina's voice floated through the phone. Allison heard Josh coughing in the background followed by a loud crash. "Oh no. It's okay Josh." She frowned at the sound of her friend succumbing to the werewolf bite.

"D, listen. I got Klaus' blood." Allison explained.

"Thank god! Thank you so much Allie, we're at the cemetery. The main building they use to teach us." Davina frantically explained.

"Wait, that's the problem. Elijah won't let me leave the compound. I told him none of Marcel's vampires would hurt me, but he won't listen." Allison took a deep breath, trying to let out her frustration. "Genevieve's here." The red headed witch's eyes snapped towards the human. "Can you guys do a spell to get the container to you?"

"Yeah, it's pretty simple. If she sends it from her end, I'll be prepared to receive it." Davina explained.

"Okay, prepare for it. 5 minutes okay?" Allison explained.

"Yeah. Thank you again Allie, I don't know what we would have done without you." With that Allison said her goodbyes and hung up the phone.

She started walking towards the witch, prepared to give her the vial to do the spell. However, the witch's words halted her advance. "And what makes you think I'd be ready and willing to do a spell for you?"

"Because someone innocent is going to die. And if you are really on Klaus and Elijah's side, you would do it." Allison narrowed her eyes at the witch. There was something off about this situation. Something off about Francesca and Genevieve that Allison couldn't quite put her finger on.

"Well, what are you waiting for?" Hayley spoke up, narrowing her eyes at the witch.

Genevieve looked around the room and eventually sighed. "Fine, hand me the vial and a piece of paper, write Davina's name on it." Allison nodded and turned to one of the china cabinets in the room and pulled open a drawer. She found a new sketchbook that Klaus hadn't used yet and pulled a page from there. She quickly scribbled Davina's name on the paper and handed the two necessary items to the witch.

The red head then proceeded to wrap the piece of paper around the vial and crumple it in to her fist. She then started chanting in a language foreign to Allison and seconds later, both the piece of paper and the vial had disappeared from her hand.

"There, it's done." Genevieve said through clenched teeth, annoyed at being ordered around by a teenager. She then turned back to her spell and continued working on the moonlight rings.

Suddenly Allison's phone started ringing. It was Cami. Allison decided to take the phone call out of the room just in case Cami mentioned anything about the room they had found. She walked past Francesca and her body guards out the door and down the hallway. Once she turned a corner she stopped and answered her phone.

"Hey Cami, I can't really talk right now." Allison said in to the phone.

"I've been trying to call someone, anyone. I found something. It's Francesca, her family is descended from a line of werewolves. She isn't on your side." Cami explained frantically to Allison.

"Slow down, what are you talking about?" Allison asked confused.

"My uncle, he kept records of the supernatural, family lines and many other things. The Guerra's are a pack of werewolves." Cami clarified.

"Oh my god, that means..." Allison dropped her phone and ran back in to the room. There was no one there. "No, no, no." Allison said to herself. Someone must have taken Hayley. Allison ran out of the room, towards the back entrance of the compound, not wanting to get involved in whatever Elijah was dealing with, with the vampires in the courtyard.

She made her way on to the streets. Outside of the compound. She wasn't sure where she would go, but she needed to find Hayley. All of a sudden, Allison saw Klaus walking down the empty street. He looked terrible. There was blood covering his face and clothes.

"Klaus!" Allison yelled running up to him. "What happened?"

"What are you doing here? Where's Hayley?" Klaus asked grabbing her upper arms.

"I-I…" Allison started to try to explain.

"Where is she?!" Klaus yelled, causing Allison to flinch and turn her head away from him.

"She's gone, I left the room for a second and they were all gone. Cami called, she told me that Francesca's family is descended from werewolves. I didn't get back in time to do anything." Allison explained quickly, struggling to get the words out.

Suddenly Allison heard a faint scream in the distance. Allison couldn't pin point its owner or location, but one look at Klaus, and she knew that he could. He let go of her and his lip turned up in to a snarl. He stalked forward so fast that Allison had to run to keep up with him.

She grabbed him arm to try and get him to slow down. "Wait. You're not leaving me here in the middle of the street. I have no idea what's happening with Elijah and the vampires at the compound."

"My brother can take care of himself." Klaus said. He then picked her up by the waist with one arm and sped off towards the sound of the scream

When they finally came to a stop, they were outside of St. Ann's church. Allison could faintly hear voices inside. "A little warning next time." Allison said trying to steady herself on the ground, and stop her head from spinning.

Klaus ignored her and walked in to swiftly. Allison jogged a bit to keep up with him. Klaus threw the doors to the church open, he immediately rushed forward and tore the head off the men who defended the witches. Hayley was on a table at the front of the church being held down by the witches. She was struggling against them.

The two harvest girls stepped forward and lifted Klaus up using their magic and pinning him to the wall above them at the front of the church. Allison rushed forward, even though she knew that she was no match against the supernatural, she need to do something to try and help. The witch, Monique, quickly and easily threw a barrier around the alter strong enough to keep a human away. Allison collided with the barrier and fell back.

Genevieve then walked to a table next to them as Hayley continued screaming. She grabbed a blade from the table and looked up at Klaus saying, "You should know it brings me no joy to do this. I promise, I'll make it quick." A witch then put a sheet over Hayley's bent legs. "Let's being, shall we?"

"No, no, no!" Hayley screamed as they started preparing for the birth.

"Stop!" Allison screamed at the witches but it was no use. They simply ignored her. She tried pushing through the barrier again, but it just caused her to be pushed back once again. Tears came to Allison's eyes as she watched the events unfold in front of her.

"I will kill all of you!" Klaus yelled as he watched the witches continue with the labor of his child. "You will die screaming!"

"I can see the baby." Genevieve said. "One last push Hayley. Gently." Hayley screamed again. Allison could only imagine the pain that she was in. "There." Genevieve said finally. Hayley gasped and laid her head back against the table.

Genevieve grabbed the baby and quickly cut the umbilical cord. Allison could hear the baby crying. "You have a beautiful baby daughter." Genevieve said looking up at Klaus, then back to the baby, "We must start the sacrifice as soon as the mood sets with the morning sky."

"Please. Please can I hold her?" Hayley's voice came in raspy. Genevieve looked at her and nodded her head slightly. She walked the baby girl over to her mother and gave her to Hayley. The moment was so incredibly sweet. Allison looked up at Klaus and her heart broke. He was looking down at his daughter with such raw and unconditional love. It was a side of Klaus that Allison had never seen. This child brought that out in him, the hope that he could be happy.

All of a sudden, Monique came up behind Hayley with a blade and before Allison knew what was happening, she slit Hayley's throat.

"No!" Allison yelled, she vaguely heard Klaus yell the same thing. Genevieve took the child away from Hayley, and the witches started making their way out the back of the church. Klaus was screaming threats and obscenities at them as they left. Monique lifted her hand and snapped Klaus's neck, causing him to fall from the wall. Allison dropped to her knees as the barrier was brought down by the witches.

She immediately ran over to Hayley and held her hands to her neck trying to find a pulse or something that would indicate that her friend was alive. When she found nothing, Allison threw her head down and sobbed. She wasn't sure how long she stayed like that, thinking of the friend she had lost, the baby that the witches were going to sacrifice.

She suddenly felt a hand on her back. "Allison." Klaus's voice made her raise her head to look at him. He looked blurry through her tears. Before she could think, she threw her arms around his back and cried in to his shoulder. She felt him slowly wrap his arms around her. He had not needed to comfort someone in such a long time, the feeling felt foreign to him.

"It's not fair." Allison mumbled in to his shirt.

"I know." Klaus said looking at Hayley's body.

All of a sudden, the doors to the church flew open. And Elijah's voice traveled through the church, "Hayley!" He took in the scene, his brother holding on to a sobbing Allison, with tears streaming down his own face. Elijah slowly approached the alter. Allison turned to look at him, his face was pale, he was covered in blood and he looked like he hadn't slept in a week.

"She's gone." Klaus said, pulling away from Allison and looking at Hayley, whose body laid on the table. Elijah hung his head down looking defeated.

Allison noticed a deep bite on the side of his neck. She fully pulled away from Klaus and rushed towards Elijah. She reached up and touched his neck next to the wound. "What happened Elijah?"

"You've been bitten." Klaus deduced. Elijah just looked up at him not saying anything. Klaus then bit in to his wrist and held it up to his brother, who took it after a few seconds. Allison was relieved when the wound started to heal.

"How?" Elijah asked his brother, referring to how Hayley could have died.

"I was bested." Klaus explained simply.

"You were bested. You were bested?!" Elijah said raising his voice, making Allison flinch away from him. "My invincible brother?"

"They took the baby." Allison explained, trying to take away Elijah's anger towards his brother and put it in to something productive.

"We can save her." Klaus said.

"Where would they take her?" Elijah asked.

"The only place that the sacrifice could take place. The tombs. Their harvest was there, the reaping was there, they are about to perform a ritual that will empower the witches for generations. They have to be there." Klaus explained to his brother.

"Then we need to go." Elijah said taking one last look at Hayley before turning towards the entrance of the church. Klaus looked over at Allison before sighing and following his brother out of the church.

"Hey! If you are going to speed off, I'm coming with you." Allison said, running towards the front of the church.

"You'll just slow us down Allie." Klaus said, turning to look at her.

"You are not leaving me alone in a church with a dead body." Allison said looking at Elijah and ignoring Klaus' words.

"Fine." Elijah stepped towards her and picked her up bridal style, before speeding off towards the cemetery.

When they arrived, Elijah led them in to a tomb. "What are you doing brother?" Klaus asked Elijah.

Elijah ignored his brother and put Allison down, "You will stay in here, I can't save that child if I'm too busy saving you. And like my brother so eloquently put it, you would slow us down." Allison nodded.

"No offense though love." Klaus said to Allison smirking. He then turned to his brother, "Let's go."

"If anything happens, scream, yell, anything, and I will be here in seconds." Elijah told her bringing a hand to her cheek. Allison nodded and smiled up at him. The brothers were then out of Allison's sight before she could blink.

Allison wasn't sure how long she waited in the tomb, she was too caught up in her own thoughts to estimate a time. The recent events that had occurred played on a loop in her head. She didn't want to believe that Hayley could be dead, she had gone through so much, overcame so many obstacles. Allison shed all the tears that she had left in the following others. She grieved for her friend and hoped and prayed that Elijah and Klaus would be able to get that baby back and bring her home.

The sun had begun to rise and Elijah and Klaus still hadn't come back. Allison was starting to get worried. She was upset with herself for dropping her phone in the compound, now she had no way of contacting anyone. Once the sun had been up for about an hour, Allison decided she wanted to find Klaus and Elijah, there was no way that she was going to sit and do nothing for any longer. Allison exited the tomb and squinted as the morning light hit her eyes.

She didn't have to walk too far to find them, she turned a corner and saw Klaus's back turned to her. He and Elijah seemed like they were arguing.

"What we need to do is focus." Klaus said to his brother.

"My only focus right now is that child and her safety, do you understand me?" Elijah said glaring at his brother. "This, all of this, this is the world that you have created Niklaus."

"Brother." Klaus tried to reason with him.

"All of your scheming, the enemies that you have made every single day of your miserable life, what results did you expect? That your child will be born in to a happy life. That the mother would be alive to know her daughter. That we could live and thrive as some sort of family?" Elijah expressed to Klaus, getting more and more angered with him by the moment.

"That was your fantasy brother not mine!" Klaus argued.

"No brother, this was our hope. This was our family's hope, and now she is gone. Do you understand? I … let this child in, her mother was to be family. I don't let people in, you knew this. You've taken her from me." Elijah said defeated as he approached his brother. Allison was frozen where she stood, she had never seen Elijah show this much emotion. Everything was always calculated, his feelings hidden behind the mask that he wears every day. Elijah then moved to sit on one of the tombs, Allison walked up to the brothers then. She sat next to Elijah as Klaus approached them and followed suit. Allison wrapped her arm around his back and landed her head on his shoulder, trying to comfort his as he hung his head in his hands.

"You can tell your niece how much you care for her and how much we all cared for her mother, when we save her." Klaus said, placing a hand on his brother's arm.

"Are they even here?" Allison asked Klaus.

"They have fabricated some sort of illusion, they are here, and we just can't find them." Klaus explained.

"We need to keep looking." Allison said to the brothers, standing up.

"We're running out of time." Elijah said standing up frustrated.

All of a sudden, Elijah and Klaus both turned their heads in the same direction towards the end of the aisle of tombs. Allison shot them a confused look before following their gaze.

Hayley appeared from behind a tomb and started approaching them. Before Allison knew what she was doing, she took off running towards her friend. When she reached her she wrapped her arms around Hayley. Not caring about the blood that stained her top and skirt. "How?" Allison started, "You know what? I don't care, I am so happy you're alive." Allison finished before letting go of the new mother.

"How is this possible?" Klaus asked.

"I woke up in the church. I felt this hunger, I knew what I needed. I can feel her. She's here. I can feel my baby." Hayley said looking around the cemetery.

"You died with the baby's blood in your system. She's in transition." Klaus deduced.

"Which means she has to drink the blood of the child if she is to survive." Elijah explained.

"To be a hybrid." Allison speculated.

"I don't care about me. I'm going to go find our daughter." Hayley said, walking off in to the cemetery. Allison, Klaus and Elijah followed closely behind.

The group turned a corner and saw Genevieve standing over the baby who was rested on a table. The witch had a blade raised and was about to kill the baby.

"No!" Hayley yelled. Elijah then grabbed a flower pot and threw it at Genevieve, causing her to drop the blade. The two harvest girls, then stood in front of the alter and created a barrier keeping them out. It threw the four back in to the tombs behind them. Allison was lucky enough to be close to a wall she didn't get thrown back too far. But slamming in to the side of a tomb did hurt.

When they were finally able to stand back up again, Elijah grabbed Allison and pulled her to a tomb a couple aisle away from the witches. "Stay here." Elijah said to her. He then placed a brief kiss on her forehead and sped away.

Allison breathed heavily not moving from the spot Elijah told her to stay. She was so worried about what would happen with the baby.

Suddenly a figure rushed past her, she recognized it as Marcel. She rushed after him in the direction he was going. She came back to where the witches were preforming the sacrifice in time to see Marcel, grab the baby from the witches and speed off.

Allison looked around at Klaus, Elijah and Hayley, who stood motionless. Klaus made a move to speed after him, but Allison's voice stopped him. "Nik, wait. He won't do anything to hurt her. He doesn't hurt kids, ever." She said about the baby that Marcel had just taken.

"I know." Klaus responded. "Elijah take care of the witches." His brother nodded in response.

"I want to come with you, back to the compound. That is where Marcel most likely is." Allison explained to Klaus.

"Fine." Klaus grabbed her and sped off.

"You know, I really hate this method of transportation." Allison said to Klaus as soon as they reached the compound. He set her on the ground and made his way in to the main room of the compound. There were bodies scattered everywhere.

"I was too late." Marcel said as they approached him. He held the baby in a piece of fabric and was sitting on the floor with his back against a banister. "There should have been more time."

"You took my daughter so I would heal your friends." Klaus assumed smiling slightly at Marcel. "Here." Klaus said holding out his wrist so Marcel could heal from his werewolf bites. Marcel took his wrist and drank what he needed. Allison breathed a sigh of relief when the wound on Marcel started to heal itself.

"Let me take the baby." Allison said, approaching the two men. "She's probably malnourished and she needs to be hydrated, clothed, washed, and fed. They probably didn't even bother taking care of her since they were just going to kill her." An unfamiliar anger came forward in Allison that she never experience before. She felt the need to protect this baby, not let anyone hurt or mistreat her.

Klaus and Marcel both nodded in agreement and handed over the baby to Allison. She silently walked up the stairs of the compound, over to the baby's room that Klaus had set up. When Allison first entered the room she stopped for a second to take a look at the baby in her arms. She was so small and delicate. She knew that this was not the type of world that a child should grow up in, but she saw how this child had already brought out another, more humane side of Klaus. This could be the one person that could make him see the light, the good that was so scarce in this world.

Sighing to herself, she set the baby down on the changing table. She turned and grabbed an onesie, and some diapers for the baby. She quickly changed her and grabbed a light pink blanket, wrapping her in it. Allison then turned to mix and heat up a baby bottle at the station in the baby's room. She then sat in the rocking chair and held the bottle to the baby's small lips. A smile came to the newborn's face and she happily to the nipple of the bottle in to her mouth. She slowly let the baby drink to get her hydrated and nourished.

Allison wasn't sure how long she sat rocking the baby. She was lost in her own thoughts, as she stared at the child. She had no idea what was in for her in this life. She looked so innocent, not yet corrupted by the world that she was born in to. Allison let her mind drift to Elijah. She had no idea where she stood with him. It seemed like he cared about her but she couldn't be sure, they never talked about it. Sure they had sex, but Allison was starting to wonder if that's all it was, sex. She cared about Elijah and she definitely wanted something more with him, but she wasn't sure if that was what he wanted.

Allison was brought out of her thoughts by Klaus entering the room. He didn't say anything, he simply looked at the baby in Allison's arms. Allison smiled at him and slowly stood up, walking over to Klaus.

"Meet your daughter Nik." Allison said, handing him the freshly clothed and healthy baby. "She's perfect." Allison added after a moment of silence. Klaus looked in to his daughter's eyes and Allison saw that same raw and unconditional love that was brought out when he looked at his daughter.

"Yes she is." He responded.

A couple of moments later, Hayley ran in to the room followed by Elijah. Allison smiled up at him, and he offered one in return. Hayley stood frozen in front of Klaus looking at her daughter. Klaus looked at her and they shared a moment, it wasn't romantic, but for the first time Klaus looked at her with admiration and respect as the mother of his child. Hayley took her daughter and sat down on the rocking chair.

Allison started walking towards the door, "I'm going to get cleaned up." She looked down at her tattered outfit that she still had on from the other day. Her skirt was stained with blood and her shirt was slightly ripped. Allison didn't wait for an answer before walking past Elijah, who stood by the doorway, and making her way to her room.

As soon as she entered the room, she quickly turned on the shower to get it warmed up and stripped off her clothes. She decided just to throw them in the garbage, no amount of dry cleaning would be able to recover them. Allison stood and looked at herself in front of the mirror, she had to admit she looked pretty horrible too. There were bags under her eyes from not sleeping for the past two days. Her makeup was smudged around her eyes and they were bloodshot from all the crying she had done.

Sighing, Allison stepped in to the shower and washed the past two days off of her. As soon as she was clean, she quickly dried off and combed out her hair. After putting on a pair of Nike shorts, a loose t shirt that fell of her shoulder, and fuzzy socks, she made her way down stairs in to the kitchen of the compound. She quickly heated up some water and made herself peppermint tea to try and relax herself. As soon as she was done, she made her way back to the baby's room nursing her elephant shaped mug.

Allison saw Hayley still sitting in the rocking chair, holding her sleeping baby. Klaus and Elijah were sitting in an adjacent study looking deep in conversation. Allison smiled at Hayley, happy that she was able to be with her child. The new mother returned the smile and looked back down at her daughter. Allison made her way towards Elijah and Klaus who both looked up at her as she entered the study, but continued on with their conversation as Allison sat down next Elijah on the couch.

"I should have felt our mother's hand in this, she now has control of the witches and they will never stop." Klaus said.

"No." Elijah agreed.

"Nor would I expect the Guerra wolves to back down. Hayley and the child are wolf royalty, and as such, they are a threat to Francesca's claim to leadership. They will never be safe." Klaus continued. "What was it you said to me earlier, that I have made enemies every day of my miserable life? Well, the worst of them are within these boarders, brother. I have brought in to the world a weapon they can use against me."

"Then we will arm ourselves. Brother, we have fought every adversary in this town, and we have won, and we'll fight them again, no matter who they are, we will make this home a fortress." Elijah responded convincingly.

"That little girl doesn't deserve to grow up a prisoner. Trapped within these walls." Allison added.

"She's right brother, I will not have her live her life as a prisoner." Klaus agreed with Allison.

"Then we leave here." Elijah suggested. Allison shot him a worried look not wanting the original family to leave New Orleans.

"Wherever we go, however far we run, those who seek power and revenge will haunt us. They will hunt her. She has inherited all our enemies with none of our defenses." Klaus argued.

"So whether we stay or we leave, we condemn her." Elijah deduced.

"There is a third option." Hayley said from the doorway, holding the baby. "I grew up in a war zone. My parents thought they could protect me, but in the end, they were slaughtered. And I spent my childhood alone and unloved." Allison felt for her. Hayley looked down and the baby and continued, "I made a promise to my baby and to myself that she would not grow up like I did. That she would grow up safe and loved, and yet she here she is on her first day in this world with a grandmother that is bent on sacrificing her and a mother that has to drink the blood of her own baby to survive transitioning in to a hybrid." Hayley chocked on her words, trying to hold back her tears. "And I'm the one that loves her the most. I think the only thing to do, is send her away while we stay behind and clean up the mess that we made."

"No," Elijah said standing up, "This is insane. You heard Genevieve, so long as she lives, that baby will be hunted."

Klaus then stood up and turned to his brother, "Not if no one knows she lives."

"What is it that you intend to do brother?" Elijah asked.

"Whatever it takes, to save our family." Klaus said. Elijah and Hayley both nodded in agreement. "I will find Marcel, he is the only other one who knows." Klaus's eyes then shot to Allison, who watched them sipping on her tea. Allison shot him a confused look. "You cannot know."

"What?" Allison asked looking towards Elijah. "I'm not going to say anything about that baby Klaus. I want to protect her just as much as you."

"I don't doubt that love. But we have enemies, ones that can compel and torture, and while I trust that you would never say anything on purpose, I can't take the risk of someone ripping it out of you." Klaus explained. Elijah watched his brother taking a step closer to the two.

"So what do you want me to do then?" Allison asked, her heartbeat spiking.

"I will compel you, to forget what you know of my child." Klaus said.

"No!" Allison said standing up as soon as the words left his mouth.

"Allison, it would be the only way." Elijah tried reasoning with her.

"It's not the only way, you could trust me." Allison argued.

Klaus stepped towards her his eyes darkening as he spoke, "No Allison! As I said before, it is not about trust. This is the only option that ends with you still being alive." Allison's heart skipped a beat as she processed Klaus' words. He would kill her as long as it meant that his daughter was safe. Allison took a step back from Klaus and looked at Elijah who had stepped up and put a hand on his brother's shoulder, holding him in place.

"I don't want anyone messing with my head." Allison said. She didn't want anyone taking away her memories. They are what have made her strong, well as strong as a human can be. She then looked at Elijah as tears came to her eyes, "Please don't do this to me." Allison begged.

Elijah looked at the girl in front of her. The girl that has turned his eternity upside down. While they hadn't labeled the relationship that he shared with Allison, he cared deeply for her. Elijah had only loved a handful of woman in his thousand years on the earth, but none had ever made him feel the way Allison made him feel. She gave him the purest love that he had ever seen. This girl that stood before him has made him see the beauty of life and the importance of savoring every single day. He loved everything about her. And the way that she was looking at him, on the verge of tears, begging him not to allow her to be compelled, broke his heart.

"I will never forgive you if you do this to me!" Allison raised her voice at the brothers.

"Well you won't remember, so that would be a moot point." Klaus responded easily. Allison felt anger rise in her towards Klaus. How could he treat her mind and her memories as some sort of joke? She glared at Klaus and raised her hand to slap him, or punch him. Allison wasn't really sure because Klaus stopped her arm before she could follow through on her action. "Careful love, I could take away every memory you have about us." Klaus threatened looking towards Elijah, knowing the relationship the two shared. Allison couldn't believe that Klaus would threaten to do that. She cared so much about Elijah, she couldn't imagine not knowing him.

"Alright that's enough Niklaus." Elijah knew that they needed to do whatever it took to protect his niece, even at the expense of Allison possibly hating him if and when she got her memories back. Elijah then turned to Allison and said, "My brother is right. No one can know, not even you." Klaus smiled at his brother, satisfied that they were on the same page.

Allison shook her head and started walking towards the entrance of the room, only to be stopped by Klaus. She glared up at him, but he looked towards his brother. "I trust you will handle this brother?" Elijah responded with a nod as Klaus led Hayley and her child away from the room.

"Please Elijah." Allison begged turning to look at him.

"I am sorry Allison." Elijah said as he approached her with a pained look on his face.

"Elijah, I love you." Allison said in an almost panicked way, but from her heartbeat, Elijah knew she was being truthful. "I love you, I – I don't know when I realized it, but I do love you Elijah, more than I have ever loved anyone before."

"Allison." Elijah started, but was cut off.

"You don't have to say it back, you don't have to say anything, that's just how I feel and I thought you should know. But if you care at all about me, even just a little bit, I am begging you to please not do this."

"There is no another way, I will not allow my brother to harm you if that is the only other option." Elijah stated.

"But it doesn't have to be, I love your family too Elijah, Nik, Rebekah, Hayley, and that newborn baby. I don't turn my back on the people that I love."

"Of that I have no doubt, but it does not change our current predicament." Elijah said, that same pained look returning to his face. "I love you too Allison. But those I love, they get hurt. I care for you immensely. I can't imagine a world where you are not in it. I constantly worry of your safety and wellbeing. And it is for the worry that I need to make you forget this. You will be hurt burdening this secret, and I could not live with myself if anything happened to you."

Allison didn't know how to respond, she couldn't explain how she felt, and her heart seemed to beat a mile a minute. This amazing man that she loved was professing his love of her. But he was going to make her forget, and just as Allison's face showed that she realized that, Elijah couldn't look at her anymore. He stepped forward preparing to compel her. "No." Allison said shaking her head and looking away from him. Tears came to her eyes and were quickly cascading down her cheeks. She felt this sort of betrayal by Elijah, she knew that he would make her forget, but she vowed that if and when she ever found out, that she would never forgive him.

Elijah reached up and grabber her chin, forcing her to look in to his eyes. "You will forget what you know of Niklaus's child. You saw the child being murdered before the witches could properly conclude their sacrifice. The witches were to blame for the death. Do you understand?"

Allison nodded her head in a trans like state.

AN:

So, I don't ever really do these notes, but it's the end of season 1. Pretty exciting! I have reason 2 roughly written, so let me know what you thought of the story and if it's worth editing and posting season 2.
