It had been a week.

A week since Mara helped Poppy write the letter, a week since poppy mailed it, a week and still no response.

"I don't understand, why is it taking so long?" Poppy said holding back tears.

"It takes time, the letter needs to get to London and then he reads it and it takes time for him to send one back" Mara smile rubbing Poppy's back trying to make her feel better.

"What if he hasn't written back?" What if Jerome's right and he is a bad father?" Poppy asked.

"I'm sure he wants to talk to you as much as you want to talk to him" Mara said sweetly.

"Really?" Poppy asked

"Yes and don't worry, I'll keep an eye out for any letters" Mara assured.

"Thanks Mara, you're a good friend" Poppy smiled as she hugged Mara and made her way back to her own house.

Just as Poppy left Mara returned to her room. Shortly after the post arrived.

Mara was walking down the stairs when she noticed Jerome heading to the door.

"I'll get it!" Mara shouted as she began to run down the stairs.

Jerome chuckled as he saw her "It's fine Mara I have it" Jerome said as he started reading the names on the front of the envelopes.

"I-is there one for me?" Mara asked nervously.

"No..."Jerome said as he put one into his pocket "There's one for me" Jerome smiled "Are you expecting something?" Jerome asked as he sat the rest on the small table next to the phone.

"Sort of, are you sure there's none for me?" Mara asked again.

"If you don't believe me; check for you" Jerome laughed as he took Victors letters and went up to give them to him.

As he was walking up the stairs Mara noticed the letter in his back pocket had a prison coat of arms on it.

"Oh no" Mara muttered. She had to get the letter from Jerome.

What Mara, Poppy and Jerome didn't know was the John was no longer in Prison.

"I hope you get your letter soon" Jerome smiled as he walked past Mara and walked to his room.

Mara saw Jerome take the letter from his pocket and begin to open it as he opened his room door.

"Jerome!" Mara shouted before he closed the door.

"Yea?" Jerome asked popping his head out of the door way.

"I was wondering if you wanted to go on a walk or something." Mara asked hopefully.

"Really?" Jerome's voice cracked a little. Mara nodded "Ok I'll be right back" Jerome smiled.

Jerome ran over to his bedside table and locked the letter inside, he then hid the key and came back to the hall where he left Mara.

"Ready?" He asked as he ran up to her.

"Um...Yea" Mara smiled trying to act natural.

"So where do you want to go?" Jerome asked.

"Well...um...maybe the park?" Mara smiled shyly.

"The park it is" Jerome laughed as he put his coat on.

"I'm just going to...um get my jacket" Mara said running up the stairs.

Jerome smiled watching her leave to go to her room.

When Mara got to her room she went over and put her jacket on, she then took out her phone and texted Poppy about what was going on.

Mara quickly went back to Jerome and they both walked out together.

Jerome and Mara were walking side by side, Jerome had his hands tucked inside his trousers pocket, but he so wanted to just gently take hold of one of Mara's small hands. He desperately wanted to say how he felt, but like everyone in the world he was afraid; he was afraid of very few things and rejection was one of them, he was scared that Mara wouldn't feel the same way.

Poppy watched Mara and Jerome walked away in the distance before sneaking into Anubis house.

She quietly tip-toed down the hall and without thinking she opened the door stepped inside and quickly shut it behind herself.

"Hello?" Alfie said very confused to see Poppy here.

"Oh Alfie you scared me" Poppy said as she put a hand on her chest.

"Jerome just left with Mara" Alfie smiled.

"Oh I know I was just here to...to pick up something" Poppy smiled.

"Does Jerome know you're here?" Alfie arched an eyebrow.

"Of course, Gerbil sent me to get it" Poppy smiled, she was very good at lying either that or Alfie was too gullible.

"Ok then" Alfie said as he left the room.

Poppy smirked and began to look around the room. "Are all boys this stupid?" Poppy asked herself.

She tried opening his cupboard drawer but found that it was locked.

"Urgh, always so secretive Gerbil" Poppy said as she looked for the key.

She check on the top of his bedside table, there was his alarm clock, chewing gum and a picture of their family, only her dad was cut out from the picture. She opened the frame and the key fell out.

"Got ya" Poppy smiled as she open the drawer, Jerome had opened the envelop but he hadn't touched the letter inside.

Poppy took it out and unfolded it.

She frowned when she read it she took a picture of the letter and quickly put it back before anyone cam in the room.

Poppy put everything back where she found it and left.
