Spring: Reunion
Another draggy day at the station forced Aomine to slap himself in an effort to jumpstart his own motivation to get through the day. It was his fault for choosing to increase his working hours citing that he had nothing better to do but more so because he didn't want to think of anything else but work.
He looked around to check that the coast was clear before he pulled out a magazine he had secretly slipped under his pile of paperwork earlier that morning. It was a high-end fashion magazine, a far cry from the magazines with scantily clad women that he was used to and he only bought this particular one because Wakamatsu had hinted to him about Kise having a fashion spread in this one. He frowned after flipping through the so-called fashion spread and realized that he had paid too much money for a magazine that only had three pictures of Kise. He wondered if he should have taken Momoi's advice to opt for Kise's photo book instead but it was all too embarrassing for Aomine to admit that he was starting to become Kise's biggest fanboy.
It felt strange staring at the picture and realizing how exactly a year ago, the same person on paper had been living with him. He would remember waking up early in the morning to the sound of Kise fumbling in the bathroom, going through his mountain of skincare products which Aomine thought to be ridiculous as Kise didn't look any different before and after layering those harsh chemicals onto his already flawless face. Back then, Kise was a quiet presence at his place, always taking care not to step into Aomine's boundaries for fear of annoying him. However, Aomine had no problem with stepping into Kise's boundaries, especially late at night when he would return tired from work and choose to rest himself on the living room sofa, denying Kise of his much needed space for his beauty sleep. Kise would grumble about having to stay up till late watching lousy cop dramas on TV with Aomine until the latter finally decides that he had tortured the blonde enough for the day and then leave him in peace for his own bed. Now all he was left with is an apartment that felt emptier than when he was living by himself before Kise came into his life.
"At least he's doing well. That's good enough," Aomine pondered to himself when Wakamatsu barged in and slammed a piece of empty police statement form on top of Kise's picture.
"Second interrogation room. Go there and take down a statement," he instructed boldly ignoring Aomine's hostile glare.
"Isn't that your job to take down the complaints of our fair citizens? I'm way past that already," he replied begrudgingly waving Wakamatsu away.
"You don't understand— It's Kise-kun! He's right here at our station!"
Kise sighed and glanced at the time on his mobile phone. He had been sitting there alone in the room for the past fifteen minutes and he wondered what was taking the police officer from before so long. He shook his head and scolded himself mentally for being so impatient.
The door opened and he almost jumped off his seat when Aomine walked in without any greeting and sat in front of Kise without making any eye contact at all. Kise had completely forgotten that Aomine worked at this particular station and he only happened to pick the place because it was the closest to his workplace. By now, Kise had felt that he had successfully put his past with Aomine behind him that he can now talk to the other freely as if they are only meeting for the first time.
"I was told that you're here to file a missing persons report— Can you tell me who the missing person is and when was the last time you saw him?" said Aomine in a nervous tone.
"It's my partner, Haizaki Shougo. He hasn't returned to the apartment for four days. He never replied to any of my messages or picked up my calls. I tried to look for him at the places that I thought he would be at but nobody could tell me anything."
"Did you two have any problems with each other recently?"
"No— I don't think so Officer-san."
"Do you think that he might be in any danger or sorts?"
"I'm not sure—"
"Are any of his personal items missing at your place?"
"… A suitcase is missing… Some clothes... His bass guitar…"
Aomine let out a deep sigh and finally looked up to make eye contact with Kise.
"Did it ever cross your mind that he might have just left on purpose?"
Kise's face fell flat upon hearing that blunt remark and he bowed his head low towards the table, finally realizing the reality of the situation.
"I— I think I see what you mean now—" said Kise sadly. "It never crossed my mind… I'm sorry if I've wasted your time Officer-san," he apologized.
"Did he hurt you Kise?" Aomine blurted out, changing the topic.
"No… He has been— Good to me."
"I see… Well— I will put out a nationwide broadcast to find out his whereabouts. I— I don't think you need to worry much. I have a feeling he's doing just fine."
"Tha— Thank you Aomine— Cchi," said Kise with a weak smile as he slowly got up from his seat.
"Will you be fine on your own?" Aomine grabbed Kise's arm with a worried look on his face.
"I— I can manage. You don't have to be so concerned," Kise replied, his smile now getting warmer.
"You— Just find me if you need anything okay? I hope you still have my number—"
Kise simply nodded without making another single word, pulling his arm back gently from Aomine's grip before he made his exit.
But Kise wasn't fine at all. It took a lot of effort for him to make the journey back to his apartment with his head held high but as soon as he closed the door behind him, warm tears began to trickle down his cold face. He had been holding himself back since his nervous breakdown at the fashion show that he was no longer ashamed to let his true feelings flow out. After all, there was no one around to see him in such a sorry state.
While he had been doing well in his line of work, the same could not be said for Haizaki. The incident with Kise had badly tarnished his reputation that it turned out too difficult for him to find his footing in the music industry once more. It could even take years for Haizaki's comeback and he couldn't be patient enough. Kise failed to render assistance to Haizaki and he knew that it was only a matter of time before he leaves but to simply take off without letting Kise know beforehand felt like huge blow to his face. No matter how hard he tried, he failed to salvage anything out of their pathetic relationship. It was as if they have both become complete strangers who have no connection whatsoever.
Kicking off his shoes while wiping the tears off his face, he threw his defeated self onto the sofa and let his fatigue get the better of him.
Haizaki had barely finished his cigarette when it dropped from his mouth from being roughly grabbed from behind without warning and slammed face-first into the hard wall next to him.
"What the hell is your problem?" the police officer behind him demanded.
"Isn't that supposed to be my line?" he yelled back in response. "What did I do wrong? Can't I even smoke in peace? Let me go you bastard!"
"I'm going to take you in for stalking—"
"Huh? What about you Officer? Are you even supposed to be here? I have no ill intentions for Ryouta— But maybe you do!"
Haizaki started to fight the officer behind him causing a minor scuffle that attracted a lot of attention from curious passers-by. Only after it became clear that their fight wasn't going anywhere since they were both equally matched in terms of strength that they both decided to call it quits.
"Hey— If this is about Ryouta, I told you already that I have nothing on him!" Haizaki argued.
"I saw you— Watch him walk into his apartment building— How can I not be suspicious—"
"So just looking at him is a crime now?" he fired back at Aomine. "Aren't you just making things personal here?"
"Kise— He was looking for you! He was worried about you as annoying as that thought makes me— But here you are, not even that far from him!"
"Ryouta is pretty slow with putting things together. It was obvious that I left—" he barely finished his sentence when he felt the familiar punch of Aomine's fist to his face. "Fuc— I was just making sure he's okay damnit! I only came back so I can make sure that he doesn't do anything stupid—" he tried to explain himself to the fuming officer.
"Then why don't you just tell him into his face?"
"… Really? You think it's that easy to say it into his face? His face—" he hissed.
"He clearly still loved you if he could still bail you out after—"
"Hah— No Aomine-kun— He only did that because that's just what Ryouta is expected to do—"
"Why you—" Aomine tried to restrain himself from landing another punch on Haizaki.
"… He wasn't into it after we got back together again—"
"You're just sprouting out nonsense— Kise loved—"
"You—" Haizaki finished Aomine's sentence.
"Wha—"
"I knew it from the moment I met Kise again after we broke up. Our first meeting didn't go well and I thought it was just Ryouta being difficult— Then I found out about you."
Aomine has now run out of abusive words for Haizaki.
"Even when we were together, I can tell that his heart is somewhere else—" muttered Haizaki in a disappointed tone. "So can you let me go now? I was just checking to see if he'll be fine on his own— And I hate to say this but I'm kind of glad to see that you're here for him too. You can take that miserable brat off me now—"
"… I'll let you go quietly only because I'm off-duty— I was on my way home when I saw you—"
"Isn't your home the opposite way?" Haizaki remarked sarcastically only to regret his words later when he received another blow to his face from the infuriated officer.
The sound of the doorbell ringing repeatedly accompanied by frantic knocking on his door woke Kise up from his comfortable slumber. He was surrounded by darkness that he had to fumble around to find a light switch. Only after he found one did he walk sleepily towards the front door to find out who was making a ruckus at a time like this. He half-guessed that it was his manager and hoped that he hadn't forgotten any work appointments but he was fairly sure his schedule is free up until the day after tomorrow.
He opened the door without even bothering to look through the peephole first and his eyes widened with surprise when he saw Aomine standing there with a worried look on his face.
"Aominecchi? How did you find me here?"
"Doesn't matter. Just come with me," he mumbled under his breath, snatching Kise's hand and leading him out from his own apartment.
"Aominecchi?" Kise asked again in panic without so much getting any response from the other.
He allowed Aomine to lead the way, all the while glancing curiously at the bluenette and then shifting his gaze towards the warm hand gripping his. Aomine held his hand in a tight grip and at times it trembled as if Aomine himself was not sure of what he was trying to do. As soon as they reached downstairs, he pulled Kise into a taxi that was waiting for them. There was silence between them throughout the ride but Aomine still wouldn't let go of Kise's hand and looked the other way instead. Kise didn't want to ruin the moment and remained silent as well, feeling a familiar sense of assurance with Aomine by his side.
Their final destination turned out to be none other than their old residence. Aomine temporarily released his grip on Kise to pay the taxi driver before he grabbed Kise's hand again, leading Kise up the familiar staircase towards Aomine's place. Only when they both stepped into the apartment did Aomine let out a loud sigh of relief as if he couldn't believe that he was able to make it that far with Kise.
"Welcome back home," he said in an awkward tone slightly embarrassed from realizing how cheesy the whole thing is starting to look like. "You should sit down— And I'll prepare something for you to eat—"
A dumbfounded Kise remained still and at loss of words to say. "I can't stay long," he finally said in a soft whisper.
"Why not?" Aomine said with panic in his voice. "I brought you here so you can remain here with me for good!"
Kise continued to look confused with the way Aomine was acting towards him and tried to explain himself better. "I appreciate what you're trying to do for me but you know that's impossible. I have no right to take advantage of you— One day, you will find someone who is meant for you… And she might want to move in here with you. I can't be around when that time comes…"
"… That someone is you Kise," Aomine blurted out in deep embarrassment.
Kise's eyes widened with the unexpected revelation and his lips trembled, unsure of how to respond but he quickly realized that words are no longer necessary when Aomine slowly leaned in towards him to plant a kiss on Kise's open lips. Aomine pulled back slightly in a brief moment of hesitance before he went in for a deeper kiss, one that indicated how serious he is. The confused Kise neither rejected nor reciprocated the action, choosing instead to remain stiff in position. Only when he felt Aomine's arms wrapped tightly around him that he began to savour the moment as much as he could.
"Do you want to do more?" a breathless Aomine asked by the end of their passionate kiss.
"Do more?" a light-headed Kise questioned him back as he wasn't sure of what the other meant by more.
"Yeah— This— Isn't enough for you right?" he whispered into Kise's ear before he began to shower light kisses on Kise's bare neck and ran his hands under Kise's shirt much to the latter's surprise.
"I— Don't— Know— Huuhh?!" he exclaimed in surprise when Aomine lifted him up in a haste and carried the blond with ease towards the bedroom before dropping the now frightened blonde onto the bed.
Kise felt like an idiot for being unable to process his current situation at all but Aomine was clearly not acting like his usual self. The Aomine that he used to know would never even think to do this to him and he gulped as he watched Aomine rummage through the side drawer and pull out what looked like a new tube of water-based lubricant. Aomine squinted his eyes to read the instructions under the faint lighting in the room before he took off his shirt without any hesitance and for a short while, Kise almost forgot his current predicament as he admired how nicely toned Aomine's body looked before him.
"Come on, let's get undressed," he ordered the wide-eyed blonde.
Kise regretted having reacted too quickly to Aomine's instructions without thinking it through first when he pulled off the last piece of clothing on him and realized that Aomine had only stopped short at unzipping his trousers. Kise turned bright red in embarrassment upon realizing how naked he is and tried to grab onto the bed sheets in an effort to quickly cover himself now that it seemed that Aomine had a change of mind.
"No, wait Kise—" Aomine stopped the now deep red Kise.
"Aominecchi— This is embarrassing. Let's just sto—" he stopped short of complaining when Aomine captured his lips once more and he couldn't help but moan when he felt Aomine's hand touch his now twitching cock.
He let out a disappointed whine when Aomine was done with abusing his lips as he didn't want their make-out session to end so quickly but then he realized that it has only just begun.
"Spread your legs Kise," Aomine instructed before he turned his attention to the tube of lubricant he had set aside earlier.
"Are you sur— Nggh—" the dazed blonde gasped when Aomine helped himself instead by pushing Kise onto his back and squeezed a good amount of lubricant over Kise's entrance before probing it with a finger and when he was sure Kise could take another one, he inserted another finger.
"Let me know if it gets too painful," said Aomine as he began to clumsily work on stretching Kise's hole with his two fingers while earning more distinct moans from the latter.
Kise was breathing heavily by now and it felt like he was having another panic attack. He cringed from the awkward feeling of being stretched out but the lubricant had made the experience more bearable and the fact that it was Aomine doing the deed made him feel determined to face his fears and go along with it.
"Are you sure about this?" Kise asked breathlessly.
"I'm already hard Kise, what do you think?" Aomine growled back, grabbing Kise's hand to feel his now erect cock to convince him that it is indeed happening before he captured Kise's lips once more to distract the other from what was to come.
Kise let out a muffled cry when Aomine's cock began to gently nudge his entrance, hesitant at first before he swiftly pushed himself into Kise. Kise whined at the sudden, painful intrusion as if it was his first time experiencing it and bit Aomine's shoulder in a desperate effort to not cry out loud as he listened to the other cursing Kise's tightness while fumbling around to get into a more comfortable position. Once he found his footing on the bed, he pulled out slowly before he penetrated Kise again causing the latter to whimper uncontrollably and he repeated his awkward thrusts until he found his own rhythm and the room was quickly filled with sloppy, wet sounds and Kise's loud moans.
"Ah— Ah— Aomine-cchi— Slow— Down—" his pleas only falling onto deaf ears as the other man was already lost in his own world as he pounded into Kise with all his might as if he would never ever get a chance to do it again.
"So— Good—" Aomine mumbled under his breath before he pushed Kise's flexible hips up higher so he has more legroom to increase the force of his thrusts deeper into Kise causing the latter to turn into a wailing, slobbering mess.
"Sto— Com— I'm going— To— Come— Aominecchi—" he begged to be heard.
Kise's words barely registered in Aomine's head but he knew the blonde has had enough. He couldn't hold back anymore too and made a last desperate attempt to finish at about the same time as Kise but Kise couldn't hold himself in any longer and came first, his insides tightening around Aomine's cock causing the latter to see stars that he ended up releasing his load inside Kise shortly after without any warning. Both trembled from the overwhelming wave of pleasure and the sudden rush of blood back to their heads caused their minds to turn completely blank.
Kise was completely defeated from the ordeal choosing to surrender himself to exhaustion as he lay on the bed, sweaty, drooling and drained of any energy to even move or speak a single word. Aomine on the other hand was basking in triumph, still in utter disbelief of what he had accomplished before he dropped himself over Kise, unconcerned about being deadweight over the other.
"That— Was amazing— Kise—" Aomine muttered over Kise. "Don't ever— Leave me…" he continued to mumble fondly over the unresponsive Kise before he too, succumbed to the same blissfulness as the other.
When the bright morning light woke Aomine up from his deep slumber, he jolted up thinking that it had all just been a fantastic, wet dream. He was all alone on his bed tangled within the messy sheets when the memories from the previous night began to rush in. Looking at the state he was in, he knew that it was impossible to have dreamt the whole thing up as he tried to clear his head so he can think of his next move.
He sat on the edge of the bed, feeling discontented that Kise still left despite his desperate pleas for him to stay the night before. He finally gathered the energy to drag himself into the bathroom for a cold, refreshing shower to numb the overwhelming feelings of sadness over his failure to right all his mistakes. It was only while he was taking off the bed sheets so he can wash them that a distinct murmur of voices from the living room caught his attention.
When he peeked out through the bedroom door, he realized that the TV was still on despite not remembering when he had last switched it on. Making his way towards the TV to shut the damn thing off did he finally notice a distinctive figure on the sofa, wrapped comfortably in a blanket and sleeping peacefully. His heart skipped a beat when he finally realized who it was that he slowed down his steps in an effort to not wake the other person up.
Slumping onto the floor next to the sleeping figure, he found the TV remote control and switched the TV off. Funnily enough, it was that simple action that stirred the other boy up causing Aomine to panic over what he had just done.
"Nggh—" the golden boy groaned from having been disturbed from his slumber.
Aomine simply wished that he could just drop dead then and there.
"… Aominecchi?"
"Damnit! I'm sorry Kise! I didn't mean to—"
"I'm home— Daiki," he cut the other person short with the most beautiful smile that Aomine has ever seen.
Aomine's face burned upon hearing his name being called out in such a loving manner by the person that meant the most to him that he began to stutter with his words.
"I— I— Wel—"
"I didn't know that you have it in you Aominecchi," teased Kise reverting back to using the nickname he was best familiar with.
"I didn't know a lot of things… Until you came along," replied Aomine who has now gained his full composure.
"I'd much rather stay on this sofa though—"
"Then I have no choice but to join you too—" Aomine teased back as he climbed over Kise, ignoring the latter's complaints about him being too heavy on top of him. "You belong here— I'll make sure of it."
"And I'll make sure you hang on to that promise too—" Kise purred, running his fingers through Aomine's short, damp hair before he lightly brushed his lips on Aomine's own.
A loud knock on the door interrupted them both just as they were about to attempt a second round of what they had last night that Aomine cursed out loud to whoever it was that dared disturb their private moment with each other. With a grumpy face, he opened the door to reveal his colleague awkwardly scratching his head as if he was starting to have second thoughts of even being there in the first place.
"Uh— Good morning Aomine-kun— I don't know how to say this but— Kise's manager just filed a missing persons report on him, one of his sisters said that you might have hidden him in an abandoned warehouse for sexual assault purposes, a former rock star requested a restraining order against you and there's been a complaint from one of your neighbours about a disturbance in here last night—" Wakamatsu said awkwardly. "Can I come in and check your premises?"
"No," Aomine flat-out replied slamming the door into Wakamatsu's face. He knew that nothing good ever came out from opening that door except for that one time when he had to come to the rescue of a certain blonde. That too, was still an on-going case that he needed to get back to quickly.
The End.
