Bellamy's POV
I have a splitting headache when Clarke and I leave the diner. I look at my watch and put my hand on her back to usher her back to the compound.
"Wow, we spent a lot more time there then I planned to. We have to hurry. The tour starts in three minutes." I tap my fingers on her back as we wait for a car to drive by before running across the street.
"What are you talking about? We couldn't have been there more than ten minutes, tops." Clarke slows to a walk once we're on the sidewalk. She looks down at her father's watch that's now on her wrist. "Holy crap. Run! Why are you letting me walk?"
She grabs my hand and starts to book it to the compound. She nods to the guard who swings the door open for us. He waves and welcomes us back.
"Good luck, Clarke." He calls after our retreating forms.
"Thanks, Nyko!" She shouts back without looking at him. "I'll get you a piece of pie after the tour!"
"Pie?" I ask her as we make it to the group.
"I told him I'd get him a piece of pie if he helped me mess with you." She shrugs her shoulders and paces herself to walk with the crowd. We stay to the back for the first while. We enter a giant building.
"Do you see Octavia?" I ask Clarke after looking around us.
"No, but I haven't been looking for her." She takes a quick look around before letting her eyes fall back on the tour guide, Kane. "She's over to the left with Atom. I'm going closer."
With that she drops my hand as if it were a dead fish and pushes through the group to the front. I look in the direction that she motioned to and when I see my sister my hands form into fists. I see that sleaze Atom with his arm dangling over Octavia's shoulders. It's not the worst thing I've seen him do, but I can't stand the idea of him speaking to her let alone touching her. I accidentally knock a boy over as I force my way over to them.
"O get over here." I glare at Atom. "And you; stay away from my sister or I'll do worse than just break your arm."
"But you didn't break my arm…" Atom says like the idiot that he is. He looks at his right arm which is fully healed by now.
"You think Murphy broke it just because? I had him do it, you moron. Now move." I fling my hand towards the exit of the building and give him a glare that lets him know that I mean business. If there weren't so many people I would just beat him into a pulp, but for now I can live with him just leaving. He finally takes the hint and slowly walks away.
"Welcome to Space Dynamics. First, I will show you to the research labs. Over here we have the life forms wing or as we like to call it: ET's wing. On this other side we have environmental conversion. And lastly we have travel expeditions. We will break you into three groups and tour the different wings. When I call your name I would like you to line up with your group." Kane announces.
"Group one: you will be with Anya." He motions to a tall, thin woman to his right. She waves. He calls the names and people line up with her. Octavia is in this group. I'm only okay with letting her go when I hear that Monty is in it too.
"Group two: you will be with me." He calls out another set of names.
"And group three you will be with Lexi. If I haven't called your name then you are in this group." I walk over to the woman who is on the smaller side. She may look small but I can tell she's not someone you'd want to mess with. I notice that Clarke is in my group. So is Jasper and Murphy.
"Alright, everyone we are going to be going places where there are dangerous materials so don't touch anything and don't disturb the scientist. I need two people to help me carry some things. How about you," she points to me, "and you." She points to Clarke.
"What are your names?" She asks as we pick up the bags that are by her feet.
"I'm Clarke. It's nice to meet you." Clarke shakes her hand.
"I'm Bellamy." I shake her hand, but Lexi doesn't seem to care. She drops my hand and turns back to the group.
"Who's ready to see what real scientists do?" She asks and a smile breaks across her face. We clap and Jasper even lets out a whoop.
"We're going into the ET wing first. There are some lockers over there. Put any of your belongings that are metal or electronics in them. You can get them back after the tour."
"Why?" Murphy calls out.
"Because I said so and because the prison cells for the extra-terrestrials might malfunction. Then we'd be in real trouble." She says with a straight face.
"What?" I blurt out.
I hear a couple of "Aliens?" "Seriously?"
Clarke looks sad. "You wouldn't really lock them up, would you?"
"Of course not. And no we don't have any in there. Just drop your stuff and we can get going." Everyone laughs as they realize she was joking.
I put my phone in a locker. As I'm pulling my watch off Clarke comes up to me.
"Can we share a locker?" She asks and holds out her purse.
"Just like high school. Of course, you just used both of our lockers." I tease.
"Hey, I let you put your textbooks in one of them." She jokes back.
"True." I nod my head and remember one day when she had asked to leave something in my locker. I had thought that she meant for a day, but by the end of the week my locker was filled with elastics, books, cds, decorations, and even a bag of toiletries that belonged to her. I have no idea how she had so much stuff at school, but when I was grabbing some of her notes from her locker I was hit by an avalanche of supplies. It was full to the brim too. It was all worth it when I saw the pictures she had up. My favorite was a collage of us.
"Finished? We don't have all day." Lexi taps her foot in annoyance. We all hurry to get back to the door with her. Clarke and I pick up the bags again. She opens the door and motions for us to go inside.
Murphy is the first one. The door beeps when he steps inside.
"Stop. I said to drop everything."
"I did." He says.
"That's a metal detector so you have something."
"You can't actually expect me to leave my phone in that locker." He gives her a disgusted look.
"Now. Or you can wait for us out here." She looks at us all. "That goes for all of you. If you forgot anything now is the time to leave it."
A couple kids rush back to the lockers.
"Okay. Now that we are ready. Let's go."
When Clarke and I go through the door beeps. We look at each other and I shake my head to tell her I don't have anything.
"Did you not hear me?" Lexi says with irritation in her voice.
"We don't have anything." I say for us both.
"Are you sure? It could be a coin or –" She's cut off when Mr. Jaha comes up.
"They're fine. Go ahead Lexi." He says and to my surprise she nods her head and ushers us inside.
