(A/N)- Hey guys, just thought I would explain some things about our ol' pal Grend. SO. They can shapeshift, as you already know, and their voice changes depending on the size and shape of what form they takes. They also prefer to be referred to with They/Them pronouns, since Grend does not actually know which form is their true self. They just know which form they take as their normal form. And PLEASEEEEEEE, leave a review. Literally anything.
RWBY POV
"Team! Assemble!" Yelled the red cloaked reaper, standing on a table with her hand in the air, fist clenched. "We have a message from Headmistress Goodwitch. It's involving our investigation. It looks like pictures of the three criminals we're after."
"Oh, let me see!" The blonde beauty blurted out, grabbing for the scroll. "Oh my god…"
"What is it Yang?" The black haired cat asked, her intense gaze shifting towards the blonde.
"This is the guy that bumped into me yesterday. The one with the metal hand." Said Yang, her voice hushed. "He lives next door…"
"Hey, that's the one that opened the door. He made me cry…" Ruby recalled, tearing up.
"He made you cry?" Weiss interrogated from her bed, taking a break from her nail buffing.
"Yeah… He didn't smile back at me…" The leader explained, sniffing.
"Oh, get over it!" Weiss rolled her eyes, turning her attention back to her nails.
"Well we need to work out a plan, like right now." Insisted Ruby, brushing stuff off her desk, and taking out her pen. "Okay, so I'm assuming their room is the same as ours, but we need to scope them out a little, to see what they do."
"I'll take that part. I can handle it myself." Said Blake, pulling her weapon, Gambol Shroud, off her back.
"Alright then, that's about all we have to plan at the moment." Said Ruby, putting away her pen. "I guess I'll plan out more when Blake gets back."
Taking that as the end of the conversation, Blake walked over to the door, her steps making no sound, even when she wasn't trying. She cracked open the door only a slight amount, sliding through the door and into the hallway. After she scouted the corridor and determined it was clear, she stepped out of the door. She walked to the far end, and crept around the corner, before coming face to face with a blonde woman, not much older then herself.
"Oh excuse me, I'll get out of your way…" Blake said, stepping aside on the narrow stairway. The woman stared at Blake, her purple eyes boring into Blake's own, as if trying to remember where she saw the cat from. She stared for a solid minute.
"Ma'am. Are you alright?" Blake's voice seemed to bring the blonde's train of thought back down to Remnant.
"Oh, yes. I'm fine. I'm sorry…" She hurried down the hallway, before turning the corner at the other end, just to walk down the opposite staircase.
"That was strange." Blake muttered to herself, before taking up position on the stairs again, watching the enemy's door.
ROUG POV
"Problem. Big big problem." Spoke Grend into their scroll, currently in a call with Orland. "We've got a rank 4 Huntress on the stairs, looks to be watching our door. Open the window for me, I'm coming in that way." They closed the scroll and let it slip into the pocket of the hoodie they were currently wearing. They climbed through an open window and stood on the ledge, leaning against the outside of the hotel wall until the streets were clear of any onlookers. They saw a window open on the second floor above them, and Orland stuck his head out, looking around. Grend jumped and grabbed the small ledge above him, kicking off the wall to catch the second small outlet. They stood there for a moment, before taking one final wall jump up to catch the window sill, pulling themselves into the room.
"Orland told us what you said. How do you know there are Hunters here?" Asked Ulric skeptically, his hand rubbing the crystal encrusted pommel of his sword.
"Because I've been inside Beacon many times, and she is one of the best huntresses there. Her and the rest of her team, RWBY. They would all be here together, not just the one. We need to prepare for a fight." Grend explained quickly, switching from their blonde girl form to their normal form.
"That's still fucking creepy when you do that…" Orland muttered. "How am I gonna fight expert hunters? I don't have any weapons other than a pistol."
"I don't either, suck it up. Just use your semblance." Raven said from the couch in the next room, loading her two pistols and adding a bayonet to the one in her right hand.
"Oh you're one to talk, you could hit a fly with a slingshot. And it takes a lot out of me to use my semblance constantly. Unlike your useless semblance, mine takes energy." Orland busied himself by loading his own pistol, wary of the impending fury his last remark caused.
"Yep, you're right. Erasing light is so useless. It's not like I could make you blind or anything. Oh wait…" She jumped up from the couch and, in one solid motion, was right in front of Orland. She stood on her tiptoes and whispered "I can."
"Alright you two, quit your arguing. We have to fortify. We need to brace the doors, and cover the windows with something." Ulric suggested, pacing the room and trying to think of a plan.
"You must have forgotten how strong I told you they were. Barring the door with a chair won't even come close to slowing them down." Said Grend calmly, adjusting their bracers.
"Well, we're gonna need to do whatever we can, and then some." Ulric replied.
Orland looked up from his gun and cracked a smile. "Luck would also be pretty helpful."
