The Boss Finally Meets Their Match
Male Boss POV…
They say that running over pedestrians is a crime. However, I committed no crime that day. All I did was run over a couple of assholes. Now, we all know that this shouldn't have been done in my expensive ass car but… some things are just meant to happen. Especially when you skid around the counter and see your Saints get gunned down with your own eyes. As the car came to a stop, only one thought ran through my mind. Revenge.
"Alright, let's go," I said to the Boss as I was already out of the car and gunning down any red and black I saw. We ran up the street and gunned down every last Syndicate asshole we saw, each of us effectively covering each other's back as we did.
"Well, this is a couple more assholes than I called for today," said the Boss, filling one of the guys in a suit up with bullets. I literally stopped for a moment and looked at her.
"What do you mean, 'More assholes than I called for today?'"
She smirked. "I just thought that we could do some of that bonding that most couples go through in their relationships."
"Sure, I'm all for some 'lovers bonding' but this is not how I planned for one of our early dates to go," I said, ducking behind a mailbox to avoid getting my head shot off. She ducked behind a car a few feet away.
"Look at it like this," she said, standing up a moment to gun down the first wave of this annoying gang, "You drove me here, and I'm having fun, so this can be a good start."
I stood and shot down a couple advancing Syndicate thugs before retreating back behind my mailbox. "If you say so. Personally I'd have enjoyed a pleasant day at the penthouse today." I said, as I noticed a grenade roll up beside me. I threw it back just in time, loving the last face each dismembered Syndicate asshole made in their last moments. What a great start to my day!
"I mean, we could've been way more productive at the penthouse today," I said, ducking behind the car with her since my mailbox was getting kind of holed up with some bullets.
"Look, we all know you wanted to have a more "productive" day with me but we got called out here today. Maybe some other time…" she said, getting in a more comfortable position that'd allow her to be ready to move at any moment and shoot off blind fire. I was ready to make a move.
"Look, Boss, here's what we got to do. These guys are amateurs, and they can't shoot worth shit, so we can just run-n-gun today."
"Sure, I mean, as much as I'd love to stay here with you and fuck in the middle of a fire zone, we have responsibilities to hold up." She jumped out and ran up, and I froze for a moment at what she said, before I remembered that that's just how she is. I followed her lead and we began advancing up the street together, once again covering each other's back.
We advanced a couple more streets before we noticed the fight turn into another street. We braced on the wall, me in front and her behind me, and I carefully peeked around the corner. What I saw though irritated me. Our Saints were getting overwhelmed by their forces, and behind them was Phillipe Loren, walking down the street and putting a bullet in the heads of every Saint that still moved. Flanking him on either side were the DeWynter sisters and they looked smug walking down the street.
"So, how we gonna take 'em?" said the Boss, snapping me out of my momentary daze.
"Well, we kind of have no choice but to take them head on in this situation. Besides, their back is to us, what's the worst that could happen?"
She shrugged and put her left hand on my shoulder, waiting for me to make the first move. I internally counted to three and then ran out to the street and started shooting at them, the Boss following suit, hand still on my shoulder. Loren turned around and when he noticed us he ran off, his accountants following suit. He waved his hand as he ran and I was barely able to make out his voice yelling, "Take them!"
I instantly stopped and the Boss ran into me, causing her to stumble before she subconsciously stood behind me. At that moment, Syndicate thugs came out of nowhere all at once and began to shoot at us. I grabbed her arm and ran us into a side alley, stopping to shot back every once in a while when the alleyway became too crowded. We were stating to run out of ammo and it seemed like they just kept coming. Things weren't looking up at the moment.
"So," the Boss asked, as she shot while I reloaded, "Any chance of us getting out of this without becoming Swiss cheese?"
"In all honesty," I replied, blindly firing down the alley, "I'm not sure. I think I'm due for a miracle today, unless I used it up already. How 'bout you?"
She caressed her chin in mock thought, "I think that protecting your clumsy ass all day used up all my luck."
"Hold up," I said, firing a few more rounds down the alley, "In that case, I'm all out of luck for the rest of the week because of your bullet prone ass."
She pouted, while shooting into the alley of course, and I just shook my head. "Maybe we should save the flirting until we make it back to the penthouse."
"Agreed," she said, firing a few more rounds.
Suddenly, an explosion went off in the front of the alley. Peeking past the wall I was behind, I saw more of them going off successfully, clearing out the endless Syndicate trash at the front of the alley. A hand tapped my shoulder and I almost shot the person, the only thing holding me back being Shaundi's face.
"Sup Boss… Bosses… anyway, what's up?"
"Shaundi, babe, don't sneak up on us like that. He almost shot your head off," said the Boss, taking a place by my side.
"My bad, just wanted to let you know that Johnny and I are here to help you out."
"Wait," I asked, "Where's Johnny?"
"Oh, he's holding them back in the tank."
"Shaundi?" the Boss asked, "A tank? Seriously?"
"Yeah, he got excited when he saw it and it's kind of hard for the military to, you know, keep him from what he wants. Then Pierce called and told us you guys were out here too. Follow the echoing gunshots and, well, here we are!"
"Wow, okay then. Let's get out of this alley, it reeks of dead Morningstar."
Upon exiting the alley I gazed upon the mayhem that was going on in the streets and at Johnny's tank while he was continuously blowing up groups of Morningstar, easily and efficiently clearing the street while he was at it.
Past all the chaos I saw a black and red Infuego slowly rounding the corner and I knew for a fact that it was Loren. The window rolled down slightly, just enough to see the gray disgust he had on his face at the fact that we weren't dead yet. If I had anything to say about it, he'd have pain etched on his face in a few moments.
The Boss must've had the same idea I had because everything became irrelevant in that moment and it was only us and Loren. When he turned the street and began to speedily drive off, the Boss and I were already headed to a parked Temptress, determined to not let Loren escape this time.
A moment of hot-wiring later and we were in hot pursuit of Loren, and gaining fast.
Loren's POV…
"That should've gotten rid of the Saints! How do you not kill them when they're cornered in an alley?! They should've been gone long before Johnny Gat showed up!"
"So what should we do?" asked Kiki, the DeWynter sister with the pink pair of glasses snug on her head, "should we send Morningstar? Or is it, perhaps, time for the other branches of the Syndicate to become involved?"
"For now we do nothing, at least not until we put some safe distance between us and those fools. After that, we can hold a board meeting and discuss our plans for the future cleansing of the Saints from Steelport. Driver, get us out of here A.S.A.P! Viola, call some of our street patrols to eradicate these two tailing us. And Kiki, call Matt and Killbane to the HQ."
Female Boss POV…
Only one thing was on our mind. And that was killing this prick. Seeing our own slaughtered throughout the street, this asshole had it coming. Hell, he had it coming since the first day when he put us on that shitty plane and brought us to the city.
I looked over to the Boss and his eyes were glued to Loren's car, determination seeped out of him into the air around us. I loved it when he got like this. He could go from shy and silent to cold and determined. It just seemed so interesting when he does it. I was snapped backed to reality when we rammed the Infuego, letting Loren know our presence was not circumstantial. The DeWynter sisters leaned out of the window and started shooting at us.
The Boss swerved out of the way and gave them a bit of room, making us harder targets. When their mag was empty, he aimed to close the gap again. We were close to their car again before a few cars came out of the side streets and started firing on us. I grabbed my assault rifle and leaned out the window, firing at any new guests to this road rage party. I aimed for the drivers, shooting them quite quickly and with great precision, causing cars to roll down the road or crash into side buildings.
When there were no other cars I leaned back in and encouraged the Boss to close the gap. We were approaching an intersection and gaining fast. Just when we were about to ram them off the road we were broadsided into the adjacent street. The road and sky rolled all around us as the Temptress rolled down the street. It came to a stop on its hood, leaving the Boss and I bruised.
We crawled out of the car, expecting that it was a hit and run but that wasn't the case. A brute stood above us, flanked by two Morningstar.
"This time," one of them said, "there will be no mistake."
Now it was a battle of adrenaline. I shot one of the guys in the head and the Boss shot the other, leaving just the Brute. We quickly got to our feet and dodged the running Brute, he instead sending out "borrowed" car into a building. He turned towards me and ran at me. This time I wasn't so lucky and he clipped me, knocking me into the ground. I was in so much pain it was hard to try and stand.
The Brute walked up to me and raised its foot, preparing to step on me, before the Boss tackled him, it actually worked due to him already being on one foot. They both crashed to the ground, the Boss rolling off of the brute to avoid being crushed. I didn't hesitate, grabbing my machine gun and firing all I had into the Brute while he was on the ground. When he didn't look fazed I threw a grenade and I don't know how, but it blew up right when it hit his face. He fell instantly.
I collapsed onto the ground, tired and nearly passing out. I looked over to the Boss and he was unconscious. I smiled, I'd have to tease him later about me always having to save his ass. The last thing I saw before I clocked out was The blurry outline of Shaundi and Gat.
Yes, I am back, after such a long time. And I finally got all those ideas out of my head so, yes, I'm back to this story. Hope you weren't waiting too long.
