Several months passed and Naruto and Kiba hadn't spoken to each other all year. During the New Year's, Naruto watched from his house, Kiba was at the party. When Valentine's Day came around, Naruto received four cards and three baskets of chocolates. Kiba got five cards and eight baskets of chocolates (Mostly from girls from other villages, but one was from Sasuke). And the rest of the months passed on by, as if Naruto and Kiba had never met. Finally summer was here, it was the beginning of June and summer was Naruto's favorite time of the year. In summer Naruto liked to do all sorts of fun things with his friends and during summer Tsunade had decided to give Naruto and his old pals a break from missions. Though Naruto always got this weird feeling during summer, but he was always still extremely happy. Kiba also loved summer, and this summer he thought was gonna be the best.
"Mom! I am going to take the stuff over to my new house, I'll be back in about an hour" Kiba told his mother. "Ok" replied Tsume playing with the dogs as usual. Kiba walked outside with a backpack and a few boxes. "Now to get to my house" Said Kiba. Kiba's house was much farther then where his parents live so he had a long walk, but he looked forward to it, seeing old friends and what not. Kiba began to walk towards Konoha central with a smile on his face and a warm feeling in his heart. When he got to the main part of town it was buzzing with life, people were talking and laughing, and old friends were gathering and sharing memories. Some people were setting up for Konoha's annual summer festival. Kiba looked around seeing Ino laughing with Shikamaru and selling flowers to Hinata. Sasuke was actually laughing and sitting with Karin, Jugo and Suigetsu. Shino, Chouji, Lee, and Sai were helping set up for the festival with Tsunade and Shizune. Kiba kept on walking past all of his old friends and new friends seeing them laugh and talk and have a good time, all of this made Kiba feel even happier. Kiba finally got to his apartment and was having a hard time getting to his keys. The door next to Kiba's opened and Sakura came out noticing Kiba. "Oh, hey Kiba," said Sakura. "Hey Sakura, didn't think you would be my neighbor, hey could you possibly help me real quick?" asked Kiba. Sakura walked forward and opened Kiba's door for him and helped him in. "So, this is your new place huh?" said Sakura looking around. "Yup, finally got a place of my own, I take it you and Ino are living next door?" asked Kiba. "Uh no, Ino and I aren't living together anymore" replied Sakura looking at the ground. "Oh, Sakura I'm sorry I didn't know" said Kiba. "It's okay, I gotta go, good luck with your new place" said Sakura walking away.
Naruto woke up and got his shoes on excitedly. He ran out of his house and into Konoha with a big smile on his face. When he got to Konoha central he slowed down a bit looking at all of the decorations and greeting everyone. "Hey Ino, Shika, Chouji, Lee, Sai, Karin, Jugo, Hinata, Suigetsu, Kakashi, Obito, Tsunade, Shizune, Anko, Gaara, Temari, Kankuro, and Ten-Ten" said Naruto walking through Konoha. Naruto saw Sakura walking and smiled rushing towards her. "Hey Sakura!" said Naruto surprising her. "Hey, there you are, you ready for today?" asked Sakura. "You bet, today is going to be the best day, I can't wait" replied Naruto excitedly.
"Oi! Naruto slow down!" said Sakura in an agitated voice. "But Sakura look! Look at the gorgeous decorations, and the festival will be here soon!" Said Naruto pointing around at the decorations and the people. Sakura and Naruto stopped and went into a store. Sakura stared at Naruto as he talked and looked around with a smile on his face. "That smile…I haven't seen that smile in a long time, it's that fake smile he wears, heh, Naruto, I can tell when you are unhappy, I can tell when your smile is fake, and right now, your smile isn't real, but still, you remain so strong" Sakura thought to herself staring at Naruto as he smiled and laughed talking to the storekeeper.
-Flashback-
Naruto stood up with blood on his hand. "I stand by what I say! Because that's….my ninja way!" Kakashi stood at the door looking at Naruto. "Sasuke is a rouge ninja, standard procedure, is to erase him" said Kakashi. "I'll bring Sasuke back!" shouted Naruto slamming his fist on Tsunade's desk. Naruto stood on the water across from Sasuke and Zetsu. "Someone who can't even save on of their friends could never become Hokage" said Naruto glaring at Sasuke. Naruto Smirked standing on Hachibi's head. "I'm going to surpass every Hokage who came before me!" said Naruto smirking at Obito. Naruto and his Shadow clone glared at Obito. "I's never kill any of my friends!" said Naruto and his Shadow clone in unison. The citizens of Konoha tossed Naruto into the air as they cheered for him. Naruto stood on a hill staring at Konoha and without realizing it, Minato and Jiraya stood next to him, though he could not see them. He could feel them. Naruto fell to his knees pleading for the Raikage to spare Sasuke.
-End of Flashback-
"Naruto, you never waver, no matter what happens" Sakura thought to herself. Sakura and Naruto continued walking around Konoha looking at the different decorations and sites, all the while Sakura was staring at Naruto and his fake smile. Eventually Naruto and Sakura made it down to the Konoha Lake. Naruto smiled and looked at Sakura. "Sakura?" said Naruto. "Yes?" replied Sakura. "What's the matter? You have been staring at me all day" asked Naruto. Sakura let out a sigh and answered. "I hoped you hadn't noticed, Naruto, I know that smile, that is your hurt smile, you smile so big and so much, but only to cover the pain and sadness, I see it, and I don't want you to think that you have to hide that from me" said Sakura. Naruto looked at the water, with a saddened expression. Naruto reached in his back pocket and pulled out a kunai, dropping it into the water. Sakura looked at Naruto worried. "The kunai is heavy, so when you drop it in water, it sinks to the bottom, and stays there," said Naruto grabbing leaf off the ground. Naruto placed the leaf on the water. "The leaf is light, so when you place It on the water, it floats above the surface, and doesn't ever sink down" Said Naruto looking at Sakura. "Naruto, you are a leaf you know that right?" said Sakura. "Not anymore Sakura, I am a kunai now, place me in water, and all I will do is sink to the bottom, I used to be a leaf" said Naruto, looking back at the water. "Naruto, you are and always will be a leaf, people doubted you, they resented you and you still pushed on, you made friends, Sasuke left, and the whole village hated him and branded him rouge, what did you do, you stood by him, every day, you never gave up on Sasuke, Gaara died, and you still stood by him, Chiyo brought him back and he had a village, and his best friend waiting for him, Pain attacked the village and what happened, you saved us, you were the Hero, then the War, you were the only one who fought harder than anybody on that battlefield, and you saved us again, Naruto, you are a Hero and a Leaf" said Sakura. "You are what every Shinobi should aspire to be" said Sakura smiling at Naruto. "Not only are you a Hero, but you are, a friend, and a brother" Said Kurama, and Naruto's eyes widened. "A…Brother?" said Naruto looking at Kurama. "Of course, I put you through hell kid, people hated you because of me, and I tried to take over your body many times, yet you still pushed on, and eventually took control of my power, which made me see, you are just like the old man, heh, you and the old man are so much alike, so I shared my power with you, and the minute I was torn away, I resented it, I felt the same pain I had felt when the old man died, and when I was returned to you, I felt joy, to me you are much more than a friend Naruto, you are my Brother" Explained Kurama with a smile. Naruto smiled and look at Sakura, and Kurama. Naruto gave Kurama and Sakura a hug, smiling with a warm feeling in his heart.
Kiba returned to Konoha Central, in search for new things for his house. Kiba had found some nice toys for Akamaru, some display items, some pictures, a rug, some dishes, and some bath towels. Kiba returned to his house, placing the bags of items on his island. Akamaru ran up to Kiba and started to lick him in the face. "Akamaru, s-stop I gotta put the stuff away" Kiba pleaded laughing. "Kiba, you have no idea how much I missed you. It was so lonely without you here!" barked Akamaru. Kiba finally got Akamaru to calm down and began placing things where they belonged. Kiba looked over to his coffee table, looking at the picture of him and Naruto. Kiba stared at the picture for a while, looking at the last kiss Naruto and Kiba shared. Kiba grew teary eyed and looked away. "I have to get some food in this house" Kiba thought to himself, trying to forget the picture. Kiba left his house, towards Konoha central.
Sasuke was making his bed when he heard a slight tap on his windowsill. Sasuke slowly grabbed his sword and turned around, quickly slashing at the person in his window. Sasuke's sword was stopped by a gloved hand, and the person stared at Sasuke with a blank expression. "What the hell do you want?" said Sasuke taking his sword back. "You to come with me, to the sparing grounds" said Obito looking at Sasuke. "Meet me there in 5 minutes" said Obito standing up. "And what if I don't?" asked Sasuke. "Trust me, you will" said Obito disappearing. Sasuke stood there for a minute thinking, and then he disappeared in a cloud of smoke. Obito stood leaning against his staff waiting for Sasuke. Sasuke appeared across the Sparring grounds from Obito. Obito smirked holding his staff in one hand, and Sasuke's sword in the other. Obito threw his staff and Sasuke's sword into the air, and both of them landed directly in between Obito and Sasuke. "Do not hold back, Sasuke, I won't be" Said Obito. "Why do you want to fight me so bad?" asked Sasuke. "One reason is none of your concern, the other is because you claim the last name of Uchiha, now we shall see, if you can make your family proud" explained Obito. Obito looked at Sasuke, and Sasuke looked at Obito, both with the look of aggression.
Obito and Sasuke ran at each other at emmenic speeds. When they met up in the middle Obito kicked the sword and the staff into the air and began to fight Sasuke. Most of Obito's punches where met with Sasuke's hand or missed. Obito found an opening and kicked Sasuke launching him back into a stone. Sasuke activated his Sharingan when he hit the stone and Obito appeared in front of him, punching him in the gut. Obito grabbed Sasuke and launched him in the other direction. Sasuke landed on the ground and caught his sword. Obito activated his new found Sharingan and grabbed his staff pointing it at Sasuke. Sasuke and Obito ran at each other again this time, Obito passed right through Sasuke. Once behind Sasuke, Obito quickly turned around to strike him, but was met with Sasuke's sword. Obito quickly kicked Sasuke in the chin putting Sasuke in a type of momentary daze. Obito jumped back throwing his staff to the side and weaving a few hand signs. "Katon: Bakuram!" shouted Obito, and a giant fire ball shot at Sasuke; Sasuke opened his eyes enough to see the fire. Sasuke came to and was quick to react, activating his susanoo. "Heh, I am not done yet" smirked Obito. "Gokekyou: Bakuram Kai!" shouted Obito and the fire disappeared in a black hole. Suddenly where Sasuke was exploded sending Sasuke and his susanoo back. Sasuke whipped the blood off of his chin and looked at Obito, who now had activated his eternal Mangekyou Sharingan. Sasuke closed his eyes for a moment and when they opened he had activated his Rennigan. "I now have the same powers pain did, as well as the powers of Sharingan, you wanted me not to hold back, then Obito, here I come!" said Sasuke glaring at Obito. Obito smiled at the new challenge. Sasuke ran at Obito deactivating his Susanoo, and grabbing his sword from the ground. "Rennigan!" shouted Obito activating the Rennigan in one eye. "You forget, I had it once too, and I have it now" said Obito running at Sasuke grabbing his staff from the ground. Obito and Sasuke met in the middle and Sasuke swung his sword at Obito. Obito lifted his staff forcing Sasuke's sword to slide on the surface, making the staff spark. Sasuke quickly rebounded jumping in the air kicking his sword at Obito. Obito used the hole in his staff to catch Sasuke's sword and throw it back at him. Sasuke caught his sword landing on the ground launching himself towards Obito. Sasuke lifted his hand using the Rennigan to throw Obito's staff away. Sasuke used his Sharingan to send an Amaterasu arrow at Obito. Obito smirked and used his Sharingan to suck the arrow away, after that Obito activated his Sage mode. Obito turned white, as did his hair, and a long white robe appeared on him. Obito threw off his purple robe to allow the new one to appear.
Sasuke and Obito ran at each other again. Tsunade, Kakashi, Orochimaru, Naruto, Sakura and all the others watched from the trees as Obito and Sasuke battled. Obito disappeared in an instant reappearing above Sasuke kicking him into the ground. Sasuke activated his Susanoo and shot Obito back with one of the wings. Obito caught himself with his own susanoo. Sasuke and Obito ran at each other with the Susanoo activated. Obito punched Sasuke's susanoo back; Sasuke breathed heavily thinking on what to do. "Enton: Fire Arrow!" shouted Sasuke sending a giant Amaterasu arrow at Obito. Obito's susanoo caught on fire and slowly disappeared, Obito had also disappeared when the fire stopped. Sasuke looked around for Obito but could not find him, until suddenly he heard a small tap. "Right here" said Obito from behind Sasuke. Before Sasuke could turn around Obito hit him out of the susanoo. Obito appeared in front of Sasuke and hit him back again; Obito repeatedly hit Sasuke back until Sasuke's back hit the stone wall. Sasuke coughed up blood and Obito stopped. "The match is over, I have won, Sasuke Uchiha, I will now tell you the second reason I asked you to fight me, because you hurt my Family, and no one hurts my family." said Obito glaring at Sasuke. "How…did I….hurt your family?" asked Sasuke breathing heavily. "You hurt Naruto, he is my brother, and no one hurts my Family" said Obito walking away. Sakura and Tsunade appeared in front of Sasuke and checked his wounds. Suigetsu walked up behind the female ninja. "How bad?" asked Suigetsu. "4 broken ribs, 1 broken arm, 1 fractured wrist, a broken leg and a twisted ankle" answered Sakura. Tsunade looked at Sakura. "I counted 5 broken ribs…" said Tsunade. "Make that 5 broken ribs then" said Sakura.
Naruto and Sakura headed back to Naruto's house laughing and talking about Sasuke and Obito. Naruto and Sakura sat on the couch and talked about the festival and other random things that came to mind. "So, are you and Ino going to the festival together?" asked Naruto. "Yes, though we aren't living together anymore" said Sakura. "Why?" asked Naruto. "Because Ino's Mom is dying and she wanted to die at her home, so Ino moved back into her old house, to be with her" replied Sakura. "Hey you know what I just realized" said Naruto. "What?" asked Sakura. "Over the past few months everyone has been punishing Sasuke for hurting me, but no one has talked to or yelled at Kiba about it" said Naruto. "Why should they?" asked Sakura. "He cheated on me Sakura!" said Naruto. "Well from everyone else's point of view, it wasn't his fault, had Sasuke minded his own business and not paid Kiba a visit, it never would have happened, plus everyone knows Sasuke has always had a thing for Kiba" explained Sakura. "Wait what? I don't know what you're talking about, explain" said Naruto. "Well you see everyone was going to surprise you when you came to you home, but Sasuke said no, Kiba should be the one to surprise you, and he wanted to pay Kiba a visit, well no one in the village trusted Sasuke to be alone with Kiba, so I followed him, when I got there, Kiba had tripped and Sasuke caught him, Kiba looked directly into Sasuke's eyes, and Sasuke said, "Everyone else always gets to be selfish and take those I love away from me", well he activated his Sharingan, so Kiba had to choice, he didn't even know what he was doing, in Kiba's eyes, I bet Sasuke was you." explained Sakura. Naruto grew teary eyed and looked over to the picture of him and Kiba he had on his coffee table. "Naruto, are you ok?" asked Sakura. Naruto got up and ran out of the house with a worried Sakura standing up and going after him. Naruto activated Kurama mode, glowing bright gold in the dark night and disappeared away from Sakura's sight. "Naruto!" yelled Sakura as he disappeared. Naruto reappeared on the giant stone head of the 4th Hokage and he looked over Konoha. Obito looked up at the stone heads, and saw the little golden glow; Obito activated his sage mode and turned white. Obito vanished leaving his friend and in the Konoha Market. "Hey, Obito, what do you think about this mas-"started Kakashi, but he stopped when he saw Obito was gone. Kakashi let out a sigh and paid for the mask and left. "Obito, why are you always leaving?" Kakashi mumbled to himself.
Naruto stood on the edge of the giant stone head staring into the sky, when Obito appeared a few feet behind him. "Naruto-sama" said Obito. Naruto's gold coat shifted in the wind, as did Obito's as he stood up and walked towards Naruto. "Are you ok Naruto?" asked Obito. "No, I am not okay" said Naruto staring into the sky. "Might I inquire what is wrong?" said Obito. "I broke up with Kiba and destroyed my happiness" said Naruto now tearing up again. "Naruto, you still have time to fix what you had, Kiba, is alone this evening, but he won't be next evening" said Obito. "Why won't he be alone next evening?" Asked Naruto. Obito looked at Naruto surprised. "What's tomorrow Obito?" Asked Naruto. "July 7th "replied Obito. Naruto rushed off of the stone head and through Konoha. Naruto stopped at several different shops collecting several different items. After a while Naruto had finally made it to his home with four Shadow Clones behind him, each carrying bags. Naruto put all the bags on his counter and dispersed the shadow clones. Naruto spent hours in his kitchen and living room, making things and tinkering around. When he had finally finished he hurried to bed to get rest for tomorrow.
Kiba woke up happy this morning. He got in the shower, got dressed and found a note on his table. Kiba grabbed and opened the note reading it. "Dear Kiba, meet us at the BBQ at 11:30, Love – Hinata" Kiba smiled and set the letter down, heading out towards the BBQ. When Kiba entered the BBQ he saw Hinata, Shino and Kurenai sitting in a booth waiting for him. Hinata waved Kiba down and smiled at him. "Happy birthday Kiba!" said Hinata giving Kiba a hug. "I figured this is the least we can do, a birthday breakfast" said Kurenai with a smile. "Awww, thank you guys" said Kiba with a smile. Kiba sat down and ordered breakfast with his team. They smiled and laughed, and joked all morning while eating breakfast. "Thank you guys so much that was great" said Kiba waving them off. "It was the least we could do, happy Birthday Kiba" said Kurenai waving Kiba off. Kiba walked away and went into town for a while. Everyone Kiba knew was wishing him a happy birthday and smiling at him.
Naruto woke up excited that day; he was ready for the day in a flash. Naruto jumped out of bed, grabbed a small box and put it in his pocket, and then he ran out the door as quickly as possible. Naruto ran through Konoha looking at the stores. Naruto entered Ino's flour shop and tripped. "AH! Ino I need your help!" said Naruto picking himself up. "Uh…Ok?" said Ino looking at Naruto. "I need some Purple, Red, and White dahlias!" said Naruto putting some money on the counter. Ino got a flower vase and put a bouquet of Purple, Red and White dahlias in the vase and gave it to Naruto. Naruto bolted out of the shop with the dahlias and back to his house. Naruto set up the dahlias on his coffee table and put that picture of him and Kiba in front of them. Naruto spent the afternoon setting up his house, while Kiba spent the afternoon having a birthday lunch with his Family. Slowly the day passed by and nighttime came along, Kiba had finished with his birthday celebration for the day and was ready to head home, all that remained was a nice birthday dinner by himself. When Kiba got home he saw a not on his coffee table, in front of his picture of Naruto. Kiba picked up the note and read it. "Kiba, if you would, I would like to meet you at my place, please, -Naruto" Kiba threw the note down and rushed out of his place. Kiba ran through Konoha, all the way to Naruto's house, with a slight smile on his face. He stopped, just before knocking on Naruto's door and took a deep breath. Kiba nocked three times and waited for an answer, after a minute Naruto opened the door and smiled at Kiba. "You, wanted to see me?" asked Kiba. "Please, come in" said Naruto moving to the side letting Kiba in. "Please excuse me, I have to grab something, I will be right back" said Naruto as he closed the door and walked away. Kiba looked around at the familiar home and noticed the picture on the coffee table. Kiba saw Purple, Red and White petals and dahlias around the picture and smiled slightly. "A picture of that day, just like I have, and my favorite flowers, and colors too" Kiba thought to himself. Naruto walked back into the room and looked at Kiba. "Kiba, would you like to have dinner with me?" asked Naruto. Kiba blushed and nodded.
Naruto and Kiba sat down at Naruto's table; he had places two wine glasses with wine in them and two plates with steak. "Steak, my favorite, you remembered" said Kiba looking at Naruto. Naruto smiled and the two boys began to eat. Naruto and Kiba finished dinner and walked into the living room, when Naruto stopped Kiba. "Kiba, I miss you so much, I blamed you and Sasuke for what happened when I should have blamed Sasuke, I should never have broken up with you and I am so, so sorry I, I wan-" Naruto began but was cut off by Kiba's lips. Kiba had kissed Naruto passionately holding Naruto in his arms again. "It's okay Naruto, I just want to be with you, that is all I ever wanted" said Kiba kissing Naruto again. Naruto pulled two little boxes out of his pocket. "What's this?" asked Kiba. "You birthday present. Said Naruto opening both boxes to reveal one gold ring, and one silver ring. "Kiba, will you marry me?" asked Naruto holding out the gold ring. "Naruto," started Kiba. "Of course" said Kiba putting the ring on his finger. Naruto and Kiba kissed and spent the night laughing and celebrating his birthday.
