Trial by Phoenix

(Phoenix Wright will be a character for the next few chapters. Just a heads up)

Phoenix Wright

Phoenix was at the "Wright Anything" legal agency. He was having a slow day, Athena and Apollo were taking care of a case already, but other than that the day was very slow. But to Phoenix it was bittersweet. He enjoyed taking on murder trials because it gave him something to do. But then again, if no one was asking for a lawyer that meant he wasn't needed then, ergo no one was in trouble in any way that he could help.

"Daddy!" Trucy came running in. "What's wrong?"

"It's… nothing," Phoenix lied. Then again, Trucy had a way of telling the truth apart from a lie… almost like Apollo's Bracelet. It was obvious she didn't buy it, but she let it go… until Phoenix felt a migraine wash over him so suddenly, he lurched forward in pain.

"Daddy!?" Trucy walked back over and made the mistake of touching him. Everything went dark for a minute. Then he heard a voice. A girl's voice, at that.

"Are you alright?" she asked. Phoenix wanted to answer but he couldn't feel anything. Finally he could open his eyes and the first thing he saw was Trucy, Still unconscious on the ground. When he heard the clopping of hooves, he became suddenly aware of his surroundings. There were to other people on the floor in the same room. It took half a minute to recognize them as the judge in most of his cases, Peter Farnsworth and his Prosecution Rival and childhood friend Miles Edgworth. It looked like they were coming to. Then he actually was attentive towards his surroundings.

The room had a cylindrical construction, and almost all the walls were covered with books, even below the staircase. There were plants along the edges, both potted and otherwise. When he could see everything clearly, then he found it in himself to answer the girl's question.

"I'll be fine," then he tried to pinpoint the voice only to find three unnaturally colored ponies. Thinking that they couldn't have been the source of the voice, he looked around some more, asking the empty space: "Where are you?"

The blue pony stepped forward…and answered his question.

"Mr. Wright, we're right in front of you!" now Phoenix had seen everything… except maybe a man swallowing his eyes from his socket… (Why did I have to write that!?)

"You're… talking!?" this seemed to get everyone's attention.

"As you might have guessed this isn't your world, Mr. Wright," the yellow pony said. "And Sonic and I have been to your world before, so we know who you are."

"Sonic... Sonic the HEDGEHOG!?" Trucy yelled.

"That's me when I'm not in my Avatar," Sonic explained. "Right now I'm Sonic Impact, Pretty Cool huh?"

"Wright… are you seeing this?" Edgeworth asked with a fearful tone.

"Yeah… at least I know I'm not insane." Though Phoenix was still freaking out. "Sonic, right?"

"Yeah?"

"Why did you call me here, along with Edgeworth and Mr. Farnsworth?"

"We need to hold a trial, and nopony in Equestria is willing to take the case, for prosecution, or defense." The purple unicorn said. "And my friend will be banished if the trial isn't held."

"Banishment doesn't sound too bad," Farnsworth said. "At least they'll still be alive."

"There are rules on Earth that can be broken here on Mystearica." The yellow unicorn said. "One of those rules forbids the possibility of magic. Unicorns and Alicorns, like me and twilight, can use magic with our horns, some better than others. And Princess Celestia used magic to banish her sister for a thousand years, a sentence Luna spent on the moon."

"And during those thousand years, I'm the first creature that ever really bled," Sonic said. "and Murder is pretty much unheard of here."

"I'm sorry, Twilight, but I don't think I can-" Phoenix started. But right then Edgeworth decided to interrupt.

"I can help. All I need is the recorded motive, and the autopsy report."

"Edgeworth!?"

"Think about it Wright, no matter what creature she is, this little pony needs help… who are we to deny her that? Besides, when I said I wanted to find out what it really meant to be a prosecutor, I figured out that prosecutors only charge those they know are innocent when no one else will stand against them in trial."

"I like the sound of that Mr. Edgeworth," Judge Farnsworth said. "But don't you have a judge for this?"

"Normally a princess passes the verdict during a trial, but every princess in Equestria could possibly be biased in my friend's favor, myself included." Twilight said. "And besides me Tails' logic isn't exactly used to the Logic of our world yet, so he couldn't be the judge if he was eligible."

"In that case, I'll help too."

That left Phoenix. It was very unusual for him to defend an animal, in front of a jury of animals. But there were a lot of people… er, ponies who needed to know the truth about Twilight's friend. But there was also Trucy, she didn't have any part of this, she was an aspiring illusionist… but what gave the final push was Trucy.

"Daddy, you have to do this!" she said. "If you don't know one else will and they'll banish her to the moon!" Trucy's face reminded Phoenix of Maya. Which, consequentially reminded him of Mia… and how she would take this case because the accused needed an attorney.

"I'll do it," Phoenix finally decided. "Take me to my client."

Sonic Impact

Sonic went to the scene of Thunderflash Blitz's murder. Metal Sonic was there already performing an investigation, and the CMC were there too, helping out however they could.

"Metal!" Sonic shouted. Metal turned around and greeted Sonic with an unusual enthusiasm.

"Did you get an attorney yet?" Applebloom asked. "Not to mention a prosecutor and a judge."

"We got them," Sonic said. "So what have we got so far?"

Sonic was led to the body. Thunderflash Blitz was a golden furred Pegasus with white mane and tail. There was a speedometer on his Flank, his Cutie Mark, and the speed was fixed at 9,999. But what Sonic saw everywhere was proof that Equestrians can bleed. There was one point on the neck that was punctured, Sonic guessed it was the jugular. But whatever made this hole in Blitz's neck had a wide tip slanted downwards…

"Sonic?" Scootaloo came up to him. "Is something wrong?"

"I found the second piece of evidence in Dash's favor," he said. "Look at the wound."

"We know he was stabbed," Applebloom said. "And whenever somepony touches it they get shocked."

Sonic was confused at the last part… then he touched the body, and a spark flew right off the body.

"You weren't kidding, but that's not what I meant. I mean look at the shape."

They took a closer look and Applebloom seemed to get it first. The wound was shaped like the tip of a sword, or a knife. And it was almost impossible for somepony without magic to hold a stabbing weapon. There are a few exceptions to this little fact, but Sonic knew that Dash was, beyond a doubt, not one of those exceptions.

Things were kinda looking up.

Rainbow Dash

Rainbow was in her cell at the detention center in Canterlot. She remembered seeing Blitz earlier that week, when he was telling her that this year would be his last, but she was so sure he meant before retirement. The next day, she was arrested for his murder. She was feeling really sick at the thought that she was capable of killing one of her all time favorite racers.

A guard opened the door to the cell.

"Rainbow Dash, you've got a visitor." He took her to the visiting room, and Twilight was there along with a human in a blue suit.

"Rainbow, this is Phoenix Wright, the Defense attorney for the trial."

"Call me Nick," he said. "That's the only Nickname I can stand."

"Alright then, Nick what do you need?"

"I need to know the details of the case, why were you arrested for this?"

"The victim was Thunderwing 600, twelve time champion, Thunderflash Blitz," Rainbow explained. "This year the Wonderbolts, the Best Fliers in Equestria, let me participate in the Thunderwing. The day before the murder, Blitz told me that he was thinking about making this his last race, which I took as he was retiring. My Boyfriend, Sonic Impact, had his friend, Tailspin, build a Virtual Reality room for me to practice in. I was practicing for the race when I was arrested for Blitz's murder."

"That part about the race…" Nick said. "I'm afraid that gives you motive."

"Not a good one, the official Records say that I wanted to win the race. But I entered the race to beat the fastest on the track."

"Which was the victim…" Nick thought about this for a bit, and then smiled. "This is just like the Trial of Max Galactica. The defendant then had no good motive and he was still arrested."

"How did that turn out?"

"The real Murderer had as much motive to kill the victim as a cop has to kill a bystander being held hostage by a criminal. The victim's daughter was his target because she might've killed his brother… who came out of his coma five years ago."

"I hope it's something like that." They laughed for a little bit after that.
