Guest: Usually I wouldn't write a review now. I hate when people begg or pressure people in writing a review, but I'll have to let you know some way.
If you don't enjoy writing for yourself I won't force you to write, so no worries this will be my last review on this story. etc. etc. etc.
Reply: I didn't mean to sound like I was begging for reviews, I was asking for feedback on how I could make my story better and more enjoyable for m readers. If I was only writing for myself, then I wouldn't have posted this on the website in the first place. If you say you wouldn't usually write a review now, then why did you? You could've just ignored it and stopped reviewing all together.
1. The author posts the story here on FF. 2. A reader looks at the story. 3. The reader sees a request for reviews. 4. The reader suddenly slaps his/her forehead and says, in all sincerity: "Whoa! It never occurred to me that she/he might have posted this story here because she/he wanted to get some feedback from other people!"
^Something I found in the forms that's all too true with people who complain about those asking for reviews/feedback.

To everyone else: Sorry about this. Ignore it and go read the chapter :)
Luffy's not really sure how much time has passes since he's been forced to live with his teacher; the door is locked so he can't leave, and the window is covered so he can't really tell whether it's day or night. It's confusing and kinda disorientating, but Luffy learns to live with it. It's been awhile since he's complained or begged Makino to let him leave, doing that only makes the situation worse and prolongs his time here.
Luffy normally likes studying. But only when it's with Law. Law's nice and gentle, and he makes solving equations easy for him; but Makino's harsh. Whenever he gets something wrong he doesn't get the advice he was so used to receiving, but instead he receives harsh words about how useless he is and then he gets a curt slap across the cheek or a new bruise somewhere on his body.
He's been rejecting food too. No matter how hungry he gets, he absolutely refuses to eat it. Luffy's pretty sure Makino's been putting food and vitamin supplements into his water, but there isn't really much he can do about it.
Luffy's escape route was obviously the door. It was locked, but despite this he was determined to find a way out. It's impossible to pick the lock, so he finds himself ramming a chair against it until the lock brakes. When it does, it drops to the ground with a loud thud just as the door squeaks open. Luffy carefully peaks out, remembering how Makino had left to go grocery shopping. He's not sure how long ago it was, but he knows that she's not here anymore- right now anyway.
He steps out onto the wooden floor, and the first thing he tries to do is get to the front door; but that's locked too. Everything's locked. It's frustrating. He decides it would be best to try and break the lock like he did last time, but a car door slamming shut makes him stop. Makino's home. So he goes for his second best chance of escape; his phone. He scrambles through the room and soon finds it underneath the table with his hat and his security blanket.
With tiny trembling fingers, he grabs it and quickly sends a message. The door unlocks, and he drops the phone to the ground, quickly hiding it underneath his hat and grabbing at his security blanket.
"How the hell did you get out of your room? You broke the lock, didn't you?" The green haired woman growls, slamming the groceries onto the kitchen table and grabbing Luffy's shirt collar. She easily pulls him out and slams him down onto the table. The air leaves his lungs at an alarming rate. "Did you think you could escape?"
"I just wanted my blanket."
She rolls her eyes. "What's your name?"
"…Luffy." His eyes widen at his mistake. Makino furrows her eyes sadly; she stares down at the child with an emotion he didn't quite recognize.
"Wrong answer."
Luffy gets ready for a hit that never comes. He looks up, confused, and then bewildered to find Makino crying in front of him.
"I only want the best for you," She sighs, "You know that don't you?"
Luffy blinks dumbly at her, unable to understand her sudden change in mood. "Do you not love me anymore? Is that it? Do you hate your own mother?"
"My mommy's dead." He replies dully, eyes narrowed just slightly enough to be unrecognizable. "You're not my mommy."
"What are you talking about? I'm right here!" She laughs awkwardly, in a way that Luffy would easily describe as hysterical. She ignores his last sentence. "Mommy's sorry. You see, Sou-kun, Mommy ran out of medicine early, so she's waiting for it to arrive."
Luffy dumbly nods.
"I knew you'd understand!" She smiles. "You're such a good boy. Such a good boy."
She places her hand on his head. She starts ruffling his black locks affectionately; Luffy isn't really sure how to react. Her touch is uncomfortable and strange, one he isn't comfortable with. It's something he wanted to move away from, but something inside him let him know that doing so would probably be a bad decision.
Makino pulls her hand back herself when she hears her doorbell echo through the house. She jumps to her feet and shoves Luffy aside; his slight groan of pain falls on deaf ears as she rushes to the door. Luffy looks up just in time to see a large man walk into the house, he's almost as tall as his father; Dolflamingo. He towers over Makino menacingly as she he hands her two suspicious looking packages.
He looks over her shoulder the second the items are in her hands.
"Who's the brat?"
"Who? You've met him before. It's Sou-kun." Makino says as if it's the most obvious thing in the world. The large, flashily dressed man raises an eyebrow in the child's direction. Luffy ducks his head. "It took me awhile to find him… He… He… He was kidnapped, so I had to take him back!"
"He's the 'genius' from the school you work at, isn't he?" Makino nods; she runs a possessive hand through Luffy's hair. He stiffens. "You kidnapped a child, and you didn't even change your location? Are you brain damaged-" He cuts himself off; realizing that she probably is somewhat messed up in the head considering the amount of drugs he had been prescribing her. She didn't even say her name right anymore. It was more comical than it was sad. "I'm changing your location, Mon… Makino. Have your belongings packed two hours before noon tomorrow, do you understand."
"Yes. As long as I can keep my son." She smiles; there's a dark look in her eyes. "My precious, precious little boy…"
Luffy pretends not to be scared.
He doesn't like this new person.
oOo
"There's talk about seeing someone who fits Luffy's description, walking around the area with a green haired woman who's in her late twenties or early thirties." Doflamingo says as he calmly sips his tea, helping himself to one of the many rice balls set in the middle of the table. "Does that fit the description of anyone you know?"
Law continues rubbing his temples in an attempt to remain just as calm as Dolflamingo is, but in reality he's tired. He's tired of searching so hard and coming up short every time, he's tired of living without Luffy, and he's just tired of everything else that could possibly come to mind.
Green hair; aged in her early thirties or late twenties…
He thinks. Honestly he does. He thinks so hard that his head hurts and that steam would've surly come out of his head, had this been a cartoon. Suddenly his eyes widen and he stands up so fast his vision goes black for a couple of seconds and he almost topples to the ground.
A certain green haired woman who he hadn't seen in nearly a month now comes to mind; a teacher at Luffy's school, the woman who had always had too much of an obsession with Luffy.
Makino.
Ma. Ki. No.
"It's Luffy's school teacher." Law suddenly says after a long silence. "That bitch has always had an unhealthy obsession with him."
"Makino?"
"Yeah." Law sighs. Annoyed. Frustrated. Angry. "I should've figured that out sooner. Of course Makino did it. "Damn it."
oOo
Sabo honestly doesn't know what to say.
He wasn't supposed to be at the train station so early, so it must have been a stroke of luck when he saw a certain child with a green haired woman as they entered the train station. The child had his head ducked, his eyebrows furrowed, and he bit his lip in an attempt to keep himself quiet. He looked absolutely miserable, but the woman dragging him along looked delighted. She had a wide grin on her face.
"Luffy?!" He questions in surprise, standing to his feet in surprise. He lets out a sigh of relief now that he sees Luffy alive, breathing, and literally a couple of feet from is reach. The child looks in his direction, and suddenly there's hope in his big brown eyes. Suddenly Sabo can see the child completely; the sickly pale skin, the dark bags underneath his eyes, and the marks tarnishing his visible skin. "Let Luffy go!"
The woman looks up in surprise and quickly picks Luffy up, holding him tightly in her arms. "Come any closer and I'll kill him!" Her arm wraps around the child's tiny neck; Luffy's eyes go wide as the air circulation is slowly being cut off. "If I can't have him, no one can!"
Sabo holds his arms up in defeat.
"She won't do it!" Luffy cries; his teeth dig into her arm and she nearly drops him in the process. "Is Law okay? Is he eating right?! Is he healthy?!"
"Zip it!" The woman cries as she hits him over the head, Sabo's eyes widen.
"Don't hurt him!"
They're making a scene.
A gun comes into the picture. It's in the hands of a man with long black hair, whose appearance screams 'criminal'. He grins cockily as he knocks Makino out and swings her over his shoulder as if she's a sack of potatoes. Luffy's frantic, he tries to run but it's useless.
Sabo makes a move to grab him, but the weird looking man is faster than he is. Suddenly, he has a gun held to Luffy's head and Sabo doesn't know what to do anymore.
"You don't want his brains spilled, do you?" He grins as the train pulls up behind him. While grinning like a maniac, he steps back onto it and his grin only widens as the doors begin to close. "I really wouldn't mind!"
The blond quickly turns on his phone to call Ace as police flood the area.
Sabo can't tell if he was lucky or unlucky to have such perfect timing.
Even as Luffy disappears right before his eyes.
oOo
Luffy isn't really sure when he passed out. The back of his head hurts and feels tender to the touch, meaning that he had most likely been knocked out by a blunt object; seeing as there's no blood on the bruised area. He rubs his eyes as he sits up. Surprisingly, he's alone. The room is dark, but just bright enough for him to make out any moving figures in the room.
The woman, Makino, is asleep. It's kind of stupid to sleep with her back to him, but it's smart to watch the door. He silently stands up and fiddles around the room but he doesn't find anything that would prove to be useful for his situation. He sighs, shifts his eyes with a slightly annoyed expression on his face.
He was in a better mood than he was yesterday- or the day before that- or earlier; whenever it was that he saw Sabo at. Surly if Sabo was there, then someone had to be taking care of Law. Even though he hadn't seen his older brother himself, it was still a relief to know that he wasn't alone.
Law didn't like being alone.
Really, Luffy didn't either. That's why they bonded together so well.
But no matter how much Luffy wanted to see Law and Dolflamingo again, he knew he couldn't just throw a fit and whine and scream. Surly that would be the stupidest thing to do in such a situation. He's impatient, so it's impossible to just wait for someone to save him when they might not even come in the first place.
So he waits for a way out.
The window's open. Luffy knew that if he were to jump that he would end up dead or severely injured to the point where he wouldn't even be able to drag himself to find help. This area was terribly shady anyway.
"Makino…" A raspy voice rings out. It surprises Luffy; he quickly glances over towards the woman who had uttered her own name in her sleep. She rolls over and her face hits the pillow; Luffy uses this as a chance. Taking anything with him would be too much of a risk, so he carefully steps around her and makes his way to the door with nothing but the oversized shirt on his back and the pair of shorts that don't seem to fit right.
The door squeaks as it opens, but Makino doesn't move an inch.
Luffy grins as he finds himself alone on the other side of the door.
OoO
"He was kidnapped?" Ace questions Sabo. Surprised, his eyes are a fraction wider than what they usually are. His jaw loosens, but he clenches it even tighter once the initial shock disappears. "So we know that Makino has him, but now there's another man in the picture…"
"Yeah… He looked horrified, but the only thing he did when he saw me was ask about Law." Sabo sighs heavily. He looks paler than usual; there's still fear in his eyes as he recalls the moment the gun was pressed against Luffy's head. "He wanted to know if Law was taking care of himself, if he was lonely or not… It's amazing what that kid's priorities are, even when he's in such a horrible situation."
"Why the hell didn't you do anything?" Sabo narrows his eyes at Ace's sudden outburst. He's still shaky from this morning's events, so being yelled at right now was the last thing he wanted. "Did you just watch as he dragged Luffy away?"
"I tried!" Sabo retorts. His shaky hands moving up to hold his head; it had become so heavy that his neck couldn't support it properly. His voice cracks. "I t-tried! He… That man, he threatened to shoot Luffy! I knew he'd do it to! He had the gun… The gun pressed to his head and everything! That man…" He cuts himself off.
Sabo ruffles his hair frantically, so roughly that it almost looks as if he's pulling out his own hair in frustration. He stands abruptly; his eyes are darkened and his lips are spread into a thin line. "I… I already relayed this information to the police. I'm… I'm going home so please don't bother me for a bit."
Ace watches as his friend rushes out the door and slams it behind him. He sighs angrily; but the anger is more directed to himself and his own impatience than anyone else. It was wrong to have yelled at Sabo like that, but hearing that he had actually seen Luffy and had been so close to getting him back… It forced a feeling of urgency into Ace's being; he wanted to apologize and make it up to Luffy so much that it hurt, and yet it was just another thing he was doing out of his own selfishness.
He was so fucking selfish.
He smashes his head into the wooden table and ignores the blistering pain that comes with it.
Someone places a warm hand on his shoulder; the owner is someone Ace knows so well that he doesn't even have to look to know who it is. His body stiffens as she whispers a soft 'It's okay. Do you want to talk about it?' into his ear. Before finding out how horrible his parents were, he would've gladly accepted her offer and found peace in her kind words.
But his precious mother was two faced.
His wonderful father was a liar too.
His whole family was fucked up.
Including him.
OoO
Law impatiently moves his leg up and down as he watches Smoker slowly shuffle through his papers, his eye twitches and his arms cross over his chest as he continues to wait. Beside him Sabo sits in an incredibly tense position, and Dolflamingo looks just as impatient as Law is.
"The woman you claimed to be with Luffy; his school teacher, the one who kidnapped him originally. What was her name?" Smoker finally speaks up; he picks up the atmosphere but he ignores it. This kind of thing was something he had become used to so long ago that he doesn't even remember it anymore.
"Makino." The three boys same time.
"Makino…?" He questions, raising an eyebrow at the familiar name. "And I'm assuming you have the name of the man you saw with him as well?"
"We don't." Sabo sighs.
"Any pictures or videos?"
Dolflamingo places a picture on the table; in it, the man is holding a gun to Luffy's head and a woman over his shoulder. "This is the only thing they could give us."
"If I can make out their faces clearly enough, then its fine." He mutters. He carefully picks the picture up and stares at it. The corners of his lips fall and his eyes narrow in concentration, "So you say that this," He points to the green haired woman. "Is Makino, and that this" He points to the nameless man. "Is the one who just up and took them both."
There are nods and noises of agreement, but Smoker pays no mind to them as he tries to make out the faces. They're familiar, and there's something in the back of his head that tells him it's important; but right now he can't bring anything to mind right now. "They got on a train to god knows where, and now they're missing…" He draws off. He shuffles through his own phone and stops at one of the saved pictures; he holds it out in front of him so all three of them can see it.
"Why are you showing us a grave?" Law questions, his annoyed complexion only getting worse as this conversation continues.
"That… That's not Luffy's is it? You're not saying Luffy's going to die are you? He's okay, isn't he?" Sabo stutters as he speaks frantically, there's panic in his voice and dread in his eyes.
"It's okay. Calm down." Dolflamingo places a hand on his son's head; Sabo seems to calm down literally seconds later. "That grave isn't Luffy's."
"Of course it's not. It's a couple of years old isn't it?" Law asks. "Whose is it?"
"Makino's." Smoker replies calmly. "Makino died six years ago."
