Alright, here we go, one of the most scariest things of a young males life. It makes your nerves crumble, and your fear to take over. It is a montage. Dun... dun... dun! Just kidding, it's just the date, but their might be montage, which might suck for fair warning. Another warning, not the best with romance, so cut me some slack.
Ch.10 The Date.
-Smallville, KS-
Kara could barely contain her excitement as she rushed to her room; Edd had asked her out! She couldn't believe it; after telling herself that she'd have to wait for Edd to make the first move, he'd not only asked her out, but he'd kissed her!
Once she was in her room, she grabbed her cell phone and dialed a number; after a few rings, Barbara picked up.
"Hey Kara, what's up?"
"You are not gonna believe what just happened, Babs."
"I fight an evil clown, Kara; there isn't a whole lot that I can't believe."
Kara took a deep breath. "Edd asked me out."
"…I'm sorry, could you repeat that? It sounded like you said that Edd asked you out."
"That's what I said."
For a moment, there was silence on the other line; then Kara had to hold the phone away from her ear as loud cheering came from the speaker.
"All right, Kara! Good for you! Hey, where's Tim, he owes me ten bucks; I told him that you two would get together!"
"Oh, come on Babs," said Kara, a little embarrassed, "he just kissed me, and then we're going out this Saturday, and he didn't even tell me what we're doing."
"He kissed you!?"Barbara screeched,"Wait, was there tongue?"
"Babs!"
"Right, right, sorry. I'll leave you to get psyched; and I really am happy for you both, sure Grizzly will be too. Good night."
"Good night." Kara hung up, then collapsed on her bed; between the incident with her clone and being asked out by Edd, she was feeling a little drained. Still, she couldn't stop smiling, even as her eyelids became heavy.
I can't wait for Saturday night,'she thought, as sleep claimed her.
-Denver-"Hell yes!" StormWolf yelled as he ran through his city. He had to make one sweep through Denver before going home, and he just couldn't get the stupid grin off his face. He had finally asked Kara out, and he was planning on what he was going to do for the date.
He then landed infront of his house as he changed back to Edd, he was about to enter the house when he caught a scent that wasn't Grizzly's, but then relaxed when he knew who it was, but then internally panicked when he realized WHO it is. "Shit," he said as he opened the door.
He opened the door to see Superman sitting on his couch, with Grizzly sitting next to him, watching one of his old western movies and eating fried chicken. "Uh hey guys," Edd said nervously.
"Sup Edd." Grizzly replied, ready to see how this went.
"Hello Edd." Clark's eyes were completely serious. "I heard that you asked Kara out on a date."
Edd nodded. Clark walked up to him; Grizzly started eating popcorn, wanting to see how things go.
"I've always been protective of my cousin; after all, she is the only blood-relation that I have left. I want nothing but the best for her."
Edd nodded, trying to act calm, but he could feel the sweat dripping down his neck. Clark looked away for a moment, before turning back to Edd with a smile on his face.
"And in my opinion, she can't do much better than you."
Both Edd and Grizzly's jaws dropped. "W-what?"
Clark placed a hand on Edd's shoulder. "You're a good person, Edd, despite your drawbacks. I have no problem with you dating Kara. And I'm happy for you, too. I'm glad that you're getting over what happened to you."
Edd nodded again, relieved that Clark wasn't angry at him. The Kryptonian turned to leave out the door, but stopped.
"Oh, Edd, one more thing."
"Yeah?"
"If you break my cousin's heart," warned Clark in a dangerous tone, "not even Batman will find what's left of you."
Edd froze, not out of fear, but out of shock. He turned to see Clark gone before he turned back to Grizzly, who was just as shocked as him. Edd then jerked his thumbed towards the door. "D-did he just-" Edd began to asked.
Grizzly then said. "Threaten to kill you if you broke Kara's heart? Yes, yes he did."
"I didn't even know he had that kind of a backbone," Edd said as he sat down next to Griz.
"So how did you ask Kara out?" Grizzly asked. Edd then told what happened today and Grizzly was both shocked and impressed, especially when they got to the point when Edd asked her out. When he was done, the mastiff only had one thing to say. "That's my boy!" Grizzly said proudly. "You actually kissed her on the lips, damn I'm do proud of you man!"
Edd rolled his eyes fondly at the dog as he then let out a yawn. "Hey Griz, I think it's time to hit the hay, I have two days to think about what I'm going to do for this date, and I want it to be special."
"And you need your wingman's assistance, you got it." Grizzly said as they headed upstairs for the bedroom.
"I didn't even know I had a wingman," Edd said sarcastically.
Grizzly stopped and looked at him. "I'm wounded," Griz said with equal sarcasm. They both chuckled at that.
As they entered the bedroom, Grizzly plopped on his dog bed, and started to snooze the moment his head hit the bed. Edd though layed on his bed for a minute, he was thinking about what to do for Saturday night, that's when an idea came to his head, but then his mind drifted to the beautiful blonde Kryptonian he was to be taking on said date.
I can't wait for Saturday night,' thought the young werewolf as he lost the fight to keep his eyes open.
-Saturday Morning-
"I'll bite Edd," Grizzly told Edd as they looked at the little meadow they were looking at, "is this really the best place you can pick?"
"Well, we got the time you know, beside you didn't have a better place." Edd replied.
"Well what time is it?" Grizzly asked.
Edd then checked his watch. "It's 8:55, we got to be done by 5:00, so I can get ready, and she'll be here by 5:30." Edd replied.
"You know what this means?" Grizzly asked with a smirk.
Edd looked at him nervously. "Uh no, what does this mean?"
"It's time for a montage!" Griz said excitedly.
Edd's eyes widened. "Oh shit!"
Grizzly then made his way to the truck, which was parked to the side of the meadow. He hopped in his seat and put one song on the speakers that caught Edd by surprise.
"You're lucky it's not something stupid," Edd said as '9 to 5' started to play. "Let's get to work.
Tumble Out of Bed and Stumble to the Kitchen;
Pour Myself a Cup of Ambition,
And Yawn, and Stretch, and Try to Come to Life.
Edd and Grizzly were dragging rather large limbs and making them into a pile.
Jump in the Shower, and the Blood Starts Pumping;
Out On the Street, the Traffic Starts Jumping,
With Folks Like Me On the Job From Nine to Five.
"Well let's see, what to add," Edd said as he and Grizzly were looking at stuff for Edd to cook.
Working Nine to Five, What a Way to Make a Living
Barely Getting By, it's All Taking and no Giving
They Just Use Your Mind, and they never give you credit
It's enough to drive you crazy if you let it
They are then seen doing a little dance as they are criticizing themselves over their choice of a montage song.
Nine to Five, For Service and Devotion;
You Would Think That I Would Deserve a Fair Promotion;
Want to Move Ahead, But the Boss Won't Seem to Let Me.
I Swear Some-times, That Man Is Out to Get Me.
Grizzly was digging a pit around the the pile of limbs as Edd was looking screwing parts for a table together.
They Let You Dream Just to Watch Them Shatter;
You're Just a Step On the Boss Man's Ladder,
But You've Got Dreams He'll Never Take Away.
In the Same Boat With a Lot of Your Friends;
Waitin' For the Day Your Ship'll Come In,
And the Tide's Gonna Turn, and It's All Gonna Roll Your Way.
"Griz, I think we did a good job," Edd said as they looked at their master piece. Grizzly nodded in response as they looked at what they've made.
"You sure nothing is gonna get into the food?"
"Nope, that's why I did this," Edd said as he showed wires around the area, making an electric barrier powered by his lightning.
"Neat."
"I know right, but hell I better hurry up and get ready, she'll be there in around an hour." Edd said in concern.
"Then let's haul ass, you got a date to get ready for." They then hurried and got into the truck and drove off to the house.
When they got out, Edd quickly rushed into the house, letting Grizzly know what to do if Kara decides to get their early. As Edd was getting ready though, Grizzly heard a knock on the door, and he had a good idea who it was.
"It's open," Grizzly yelled, and a couple moments later, Kara came walking in. "Hey Kara," Grizzly greeted as he walked over to her.
"Hey Griz," she replied as she gave the mastiff a pat on the head. "Where's Edd?"
"Getting cleaned up, we've been working on something since nine o'clock this morning." Grizzly answered.
"On what exactly?" Kara asked, highly curious.
Grizzly smirked. "You just got to wait and see." That only made the Kryptonian more curious.
Edd then walked down the stairs a few moments later, and froze when he saw Kara. She was wearing civilian clothes; a light-blue pair of jeans, a white blouse and a light-blue coat. Like every other time Edd had seen her, she didn't wear makeup; in Edd's honest opinion, she didn't need it. "Wow."
Kara saw what the young werewolf was wearing, and couldn't help but think he looked handsome, even though he already was to her. He was wearing a pair of dark blue jeans, a black button up shirt, and his signature boots. He also shave, revealing his entire face. "Wow yourself."
They looked at eachother for a brief moment before Grizzly spoke up. "Well, love birds, you better get going, for a date to work, you actually have to go on it."
They both looked at the dog and knew he was right. "Well, you ready?" Edd asked as he offered his arm.
Kara smiled at him as she slipped her arm through his. "You know I'm ready, Edd."
"Don't wait up, Grizzly," Edd said as they walked out the door. Once they were outside, Kara looked at Edd. "So where exactly are you taking me?"
Edd opened the garage, revealing his truck before turning to Kara. "Just wait and see," Edd said with a smirk. He then helped her into the truck before hopping into the driver's side. They drove for about ten minutes up the mountain, and that's when they pulled infront of the meadow Edd and Grizzly were at earlier.
As they exited the truck, Kara looked at what Edd and Grizzly have done. There was a picnic table with a basket aswell as a cooler. Also was the tall pile of stacked wood. "I know it ain't much," Edd said, "and I probably could have just taken you to a movie or something like that, but I thought this would be nice."
Kara looked at him for a moment before she smiled at him. "I actually like it," she admitted as she looked around at the open area.
"Uh, you do?" Edd asked surprised.
Kara nodded. "Yeah, it's remote, quiet, away from everything else, it's just the two of us."
Edd smirked at her. "Yeah, it is."
In the next hour, they had some of the BBQ that Edd made earlier, along with some ice cream Edd pulled out of the cooler. Kara was extremely happy to see the big tubs Edd had. As they were eating the ice cream, Edd then decided to get up and walk over to his truck.
"What are you doing?" Kara asked.
Edd smirked at her before he pressed a button in the truck and the speakers started playing music. He then walked over to Kara and extended his hand out. "May I have this dance?"
Kara looked at him for a moment before smiling. "Oh you may," she said as he helped her up and they started to dance before she warned him. "Just letting you know, I have two left feet."
"I once did too, but then I actually started to try dancing." Edd told her as they dance through the first song. "I can do more than just dance you know?"
"Can you now?" Kara asked. That's when the second song started, and to Kara's surprise, he started to sing along.
You're better than the best
I'm lucky just to linger in your light
Cooler then the flip side of my pillow, that's right
Completely unaware
Nothing can compare to where you send me,
Lets me know that it's OK, yeah it's OK
And the moments where my good times start to fade
Kara's mouth fell open a bit, eyes wide as she listened to Edd's voice surround her.
You make me smile like the sun
Fall out of bed, sing like a bird
Dizzy in my head, spin like a record
Crazy on a Sunday night
You make me dance like a fool
Forget how to breathe
Shine like gold, buzz like a bee
Just the thought of you can drive me wild
Oh, you make me smile
A tear slipped down the Kryptonian's cheek. Even if the lines were apart of the song, the way Edd sang along with them she realized he was putting his own feelings into it. Telling her how she made him feel.
Even when you're gone
Somehow you come along
Just like a flower poking through the sidewalk crack and just like that
You steal away the rain and just like that
You make me smile like the sun
Fall out of bed, sing like a bird
Dizzy in my head, spin like a record
Crazy on a Sunday night
You make me dance like a fool
Forget how to breathe
Shine like gold, buzz like a bee
Just the thought of you can drive me wild
Oh, you make me smile
Edd lifted his hand and caressed his hand to her cheek softly, eyes not breaking contact as he leaned down and rested his forehead against hers.
Don't know how I lived without you
Cause every time that I get around ya
I see the best of me inside your eyes
You make me smile
You make me dance like a fool
Forget how to breathe
Shine like gold, buzz like a bee
Just the thought of you can drive me wild
As he said that part, Edd's eyes changed color to make his point.
You make me smile like the sun
Fall out of bed, sing like a bird
Dizzy in my head, spin like a record
Crazy on a Sunday night
You make me dance like a fool
Forget how to breathe
Shine like gold, buzz like a bee
Just the thought of you can drive me wild
Oh, you make me smile
Oh, you make me smile
Oh, you make me smile
Once the song faded away, they both leaned in and shared a very passionate kiss. They kept it up for quite some time before Edd needed to breath. When they broke up the kiss, they just stared into each other's eyes. "That felt... a little overdue." Edd said with a smile.
"You're damn right," Kara agreed as they kissed again. They then heard howling from wolves in the distance, and Edd just couldn't help himself and joined in. "You really can't help yourself, can you?" Kara asked fondly.
"I'm happy right now, so not really." Edd said, as he howled again. Kara looked at her new boyfriend, and thought why the hell not as she howled aswell. "It's infectious is it?"
An hour or so later, they were laying in the bed of the truck, eating more ice cream, and looking into the fire. "I had a good time tonight," Kara said to her new boyfriend as she ate her strawberry ice cream.
"I did too, and I hope we can do something like this again." Edd told her as he took a bite out of his chocolate swirl ice cream.
Kara smiled at him. "I'd like that," the Kryptonian said as she leaned in and kissed him, which he returned. She then let out a yawn. "Do you think it's okay if we just stayed here for the night?"
Edd looked at her. "What about Clark? Won't he be a little angry about this?"
"It'll be fine for one night." Kara then snuggled up against him as she was about to fall asleep. "Goodnight Edd." She then closed her eyes as she then fell asleep.
"Goodnight, Kara," Edd said as he kissed her on her forehead and then stared out into the night, before sleep started to take him over, and when he did, he couldn't get the dumb smile off his face.
Unaware to the sleeping new couple, a figure stood over a ledge looking down at them, a figure made out of pure lightning. "There you go my boy, you deserve it, and even more than you think." said the figure as he started heading back into the sky, but then looked down one more time and smiled. "You sure do know how to pick'em Edd."
There you go, Edd and Kara are an official item, and you witnessed my failed attempt at a montage. Who was the figure made of lightning? Well, I know, you guys just won't unless you guess it correctly. Anyway, I hope you liked the date, romance isn't really my specialty, I hope I did good though. I chose that song because I actually like it, I've liked it for a long time and it seems romantic enough. Don't forget to review and check out my profile for my other stories and future content. But wait! A wild bonus scene appeared!
-The Next Morning-
"Awe, they look so cute while they're sleeping." Grizzly said to himself as he sat on top of the truck, a bucket filled with ice cold water sitting next to him, looking at Kara and Edd sleeping. How he got it there, he won't share his secrets. "It would be quite the shame if I were to dump a bucket of ice cold water on them."
The mastiff then tipped the bucket over as the water landed on the newly official couple. "What the hell!" Edd said out of shock. Grizzly started rolling around laughing.
Kara was just equally shocked, it was just that the words she said were several Kryptonian curse words. "The hell was that for!?" Both of them exclaimed at the dog.
"I thought it would be funny, and it sure as hell was." Grizzly said as he was laughing.
Edd and Kara looked at each other, then they looked back at Grizzly. "You know what else is gonna be funny?" Kara asked.
"What's that?" Grizzly asked, curious.
"Turning you into a blue, hairless mastiff." Edd said as his eyes changed.
Grizzly's smile faded as he then dashed off as fast as he could, anywhere he could escape such a fate.
"Shall we get him," asked Edd, smirking mischievously.
Kara smirked at him. "Oh we shall." The new couple then quickly gave chase to the mastiff, so they can extract their revengeance.
You're welcome.
