"Well, sir, I'm only pretty sure it's a bear, but it's definitely dead, and it's definitely infected."
"Infected? Is there a danger to the team?"
"Fluid transmission only, sir. We're safe, but we need to contain it if we're going to stay in the area."
"Whattaya need, doc?"
"Hey, doc! Patient's temp is rising. 102.4 right now. That's at least a degree since we came through."
"Really? Damn! Keep pushing fluids. Colonel? Can you ask the SGC for some ice?"
"Ice? Doctor, we're not-"
"Sir, it's for the patient. I want it on hand just in case."
"Understood.

"That's Tamlen! What have you done to him?"
"We've kept him unconscious for his safety and ours. He's infected with some kind of path- Some kind of disease that we've never encountered, and we hoped that you'd be able to help him."
"Is this ice? Where did you get ice? And why-?"
"He's feverish; feel him."
"And these…?"
"eye-vee lines. They help him drink and give him medicine. I can remove them whenever you want."
"But they're…in him!"
"They're not hurting him, I promise."
"I'll need to fetch the Keeper."
"This mirror is of Tevinter origin. They sometimes…fail in their purpose."
"It seems to be working fine for us."
"Perhaps, but the mirror is corrupted. It needs to be destroyed."
"Whoa! Whoa! Whoa! No way! That's our only way home!"
"Then you should leave, and it will be destroyed immediately after that."
"We'd love to, but we need find out if you have a cure for this disease the elf has."
"'Disease'? Ah, you mean the Taint."
"So you're familiar with it?"
"In a manner of speaking."
"Is there a treatment? A cure?"
"In a manner of speaking."
"Your pardon, Warden, but the Keeper wishes to speak with you."
"So what exactly are Grey Wardens?"
"They're warriors who fight darkspawn. What's this?"
"That controls the MALP. The, uh, golem.
"Ooh! Can I try it? I promise to be careful."
"Maybe later. What are darkspawn?"
"The Children of the Dark. How does your weapon work? Can I try it?"
"I'll show you later if the Colonel's okay with it."
"'Okay'?"
"If he approves."
"Oh. Okay!"
"So what are darkspawn?"
"Corrupted people from the deep. Like the genlocks you slayed. By the gods! This is delicious! What is it?"
"A chocolate brownie. Genlocks?"
"I've heard they're Tainted dwarves. Can I have another one?"
"A dwarf?"
"No, a brownie!"
"Doc, you got any Ritalin in your bag?"
"Uh, no. Why?"
"'Cause I think that elf girl needs some real bad."
"She's probably just overwhelmed, sergeant."
"Ma'am, you could've distracted her by saying 'Look: something shiny!' All I know is I have a headache from listening to her talk."
"Then that's probably one of the more successful first contacts we've had."
"Very funny, ma'am."
"Here, sergeant; have some Motrin."

"Whatever medicine the outworlders gave to Tamlen seems to have delayed the Taint's spread, but he is very ill. I doubt he would have the strength to undergo the Joining."
"Provided he reaches Ostagar before succumbing."
"I agree."
"But if the outworlders were to provide their medicine again…."
"I doubt we could travel quickly enough to Ostagar, but perhaps the outworlders have means unknown to us."
"And could you convince them to assist us?"
"I believe so."
"I see. Allow me to think on this. Thank you, Duncan."
"You are welcome, Keeper."
"Sir! The Commander was right!"
