Chapter 10

Getting to know you more

Alvin and Melissa were still in the hospital room and were now l in Melissa's trying to wake up Melissa's mom up, "Mom, Mom please wake up" said pleaded Melissa "Mrs. Brown please wake up Mrs. Brown," said Alvin worried while shaking Melissa's mom trying to wake her up. After not getting any sign of Amy waking up, Alvin checked her pulse and then put one of his fingers close to Amy to see if she was still breathing "she's alive but, that peace of trash sure knocked her out cold" explained Alvin, then Melissa started to cry on his shoulder "why oh why did my step dad do this, I mean sure he has creamed at my mom's face before and called her nasty things but, he has never hit her nor me before" said Melissa while softly crying "Melissa please look at me" Melissa obeyed him and looked in to his golden eyes and Alvin looked in to Melissa's Brown eyes "right now forget about that peace of garbage pretend like you never saw him before and move on, you're better off without him" said Alvin as he was trying to cheer up Melissa. After a minute of silence, Alvin and Melissa were staring at each other and their lips were getting closer but suddenly they stopped because they heard "oh what happened?" it was Melissa's mom "MOM YOU'RE AWAKE" yelled Melissa with happiness "ouch why does my cheek hurt so much?" asked Amy "um we'll tell you later but now please take me out of here, I don't want to be here another day" pleaded Melissa and her mom responded "but Melissa the doctor said that you can get out this Thursday remember" Melissa was quiet for a second and then said "please just ask the doctor again" Amy thought for a minute and said "fine but don't get your hopes up because he will probably say that you need to stay until Thursday" then Melissa's mom left.

After moments of waiting Melissa's mom came back to the room and said, "you're not going to believe it Melissa he said that you go home as long as you come once every week for a month so he could check your broken ankle" Melissa got extremely happy and yelled "hurray thanks so much mom" then Melissa hugged her mother. Suddenly Melissa noticed her mom's smile go away "what's wrong mom? "she asked worriedly, "um, I'll tell you when we're outside and Alvin I want you to hear this as well" said Melissa's mom then they made their way outside.

When they got outside, they noticed that the sun was setting. Melissa's mom then started to tell Alvin and Melissa what she wanted to tell them once they got outside. "Alvin, Melissa please listen up, Alvin do you remember what told you the first time I saw you?" she asked "yes" responded Alvin "well I did not tell you this other part you see, a year later when you and your brothers disappeared, I was alone with Melissa and I struggled getting us food so, I was looking for food for me and Melissa because winter arrived and I did not prepare myself nor Melissa for the winter because I was so devastated that you and you're brothers disappeared without a trace that I forgot to get food for me and Melissa so, because I did not get food for the winter me and Melissa couldn't hibernate and I had to go look for food during the powerful winter and after hours of looking for nuts or anything else to eat, I couldn't find anything but then right when I was to head back home I heard someone behind me yell "UM EXCUSE ME OVER HERE" so I turned around and saw a chipmunk waving at me and signaling me to come closer to him or her and so I did and I saw a chipmunk carrying a basket with a bunch of nuts inside "um I assume you're looking for food but, you might as well give up because I went and looked around but only found these last ones however you're more than welcome to have some", he then handed me like 10 nuts and said "my name is Darren by the way what's your name? "at first I did not want to tell him my name because I did not know him but then I remembered that he was being kind by giving me some of the nuts he found "um I'm Amy" and then he said "Amy hu well why are you looking for food right when winter has started?" and I answered "I could ask you the same thing" he chuckled and said "well the reason I was looking for food right now is because I like going to look for food during the winter I'm used to it" I then answered "oh, well the reason why I'm looking for food right now is because i had too much things on my mind that I completely forgot about it" he looked at me curiously and asked "but do you not you have a husband or boyfriend to be doing that for you?" then I said to him "no I'm single my husband died because he suffered a stroke not too long ago also I have a daughter named Melissa and we live alone" he made a worried face and answered "well why don't the both of you live with me, like I'm single and live alone as well" when he told me that I thought it was too good to be true but at the same time I was a bit cautious with him because I did not know him and then he said "come on please I can't let you to be alone and suffer so please bring your daughter and you both can live with me at my house" I then accepted and after a few months I felt in love with him and we got married but, he did not want to have kids and I was fine with it then, a month later I noticed that he was angry person and he would yell at me but I still stayed with him because I loved him so much to even care and now that he's been arrested and if he is not given jail time, he might come back with evil intentions so my point is that we can't go back to the house because if me and Melissa would be in great danger so, I have decided to never return to his house and as matter of fact, I won't even go back to get my stuff, he can keep them and well that's my story" finally Amy finished talking and both Alvin and Melissa were speechless.

But then Melissa broke the silence "Mom where are we going to live now"? Amy took a deep breath and answered, "I don't know Melissa and I don't think I can afford staying at a hotel as a matter of fact, I don't have a penny with me" then Melissa said, "me neither" she said so sad in a sad and disappointed tone. Alvin was still quiet but then he suddenly yelled "OH I KNOW WHERE YOU TO COULD STAY" when Alvin did that he kind of startled both Melissa and Amy curiously asked "well where? "then Alvin said "at my house I'm sure Dave will understand once I tell them the whole story "Melissa was so excited to hear that and said "really Alvin that would be so awesome" but Amy answered are you sure Alvin um your father wouldn't mind us staying?" then Alvin answered "or course he wouldn't mind he's the type of person who likes helping others" then Amy smiled and said "thank you Alvin and you know what now that I got to know you more, I now see you as the son that I never had and also I'm so excited to see Simon and Theodore again" said Melissa's mom "YUPPIE" cheered Melissa then Alvin said "well what are we waiting for let me call for a cab" said Alvin but before he could do that, Melissa suddenly kissed him on his cheek and said "thank you for there for me" now Alvin was blushing.
