Chapter 10: The Sun and the Moon

Azula's POV

69

It felt so different leaving the place that was my home for nine years. I'm both older and wiser then I was when I first come to Hāmonī. But now I can fully see the difference from the Princess of the Fire Nation to Azula of the Southern Water Tribe that both transformed into who I am today. I turned the wheel of the ship as my all white uniform flowed with my movement. A black yin symbol rested on the lower part of my shirt as gold thread lined my uniform. The only difference between Zeah's uniform and mine is that I had a hood that covered my face in eternal darkness and intertwined with the white thread was electrified metal. Making the uniform itself ten times heavier than the regular ones and electrical currents ran through it constantly.

Nōkon rest on my left side in its new white sheath and my white mouth guard rested lightly on my neck.

"Tomorrow will probably be our last day together so why don't you make the most of it. Katara's currently in her room waiting for someone to spend the day with so why don't you let me command the ship tonight" Mai said as she walked up to take the wheel. We had on the same uniform with the only difference being that in place of my sword was throwing knives. Five knives lined both her left and right side of her waist, a thick golden strap that crossed the top of her right shoulder to end slightly under her left arm that housed ten others, and five other ones rested in both her left and right sleeve.

I nodded to her as I released the wheel to her capable hands and made my way down the white hallway into the living quarters. I stop at my room first to change into a more relaxing set of clothes. After putting up my uniform, sword, and mouth guard I put on dark golden shirt that had no sleeves and a low collar. I grabbed some comfortable black trousers and a pair of black boots that I tucked the ends of my pants into. As left the room I quickly checked my hair to see if my topknot was perfect and placed a blue choker in my pocket.

In Hāmonī when you loved someone you would have them tie the ribbon of the home land on you somewhere so that you'll forever be a part of them and their culture. I gave Katara a red choker before we set sail and she gave me this on in return. In my pocket next to her blue choker was a small smooth metal medallion that I've been working on in when I was alone manning the ship. I engraved the symbol on her shoulder on it with a purple gem so that it would standout against the cold black metal. So when I tie my ribbon on her I can place the medallion on it. As I walked through the hallway I thought about all the things we've been through and what we're going to do to stop this war.

What I didn't tell the others was that once our plan go into motion I'll have to follow the rules of my grandfather. I'll have to do things I've never did before and act like a monster.

Flashback 12 ½ years ago

"Azula, when your brother becomes the Fire Lord you'll have to be his most trusted adviser, consoler, general, and tactician. I'll have to kill for him, lie for him, fight for him, and die for him. Sometimes you'll have to betray your friends, mortally wound your savoir, Lie to your loved ones, and on rare cases go against your Nation" Fire Lord Azulon said as we sat behind the red fire wall. A traitor of the Fire Nation was fighting for his life against three komodo-dragons. He's shirtless chest dripped with blood from the horn gash on his right side. His pale blue eyes gleamed with pain and determination as he slashed at the alpha komodo-dragon.

"But grandfather what if I find the Avatar and help him, what if I have to go against the Fire Lord, and then what grandfather? I'm I no different than him" I said as I pointed at the man who grunted in pain as a komodo-dragon swiped him with his tail.

"That man is the son of a Fire Nation farmer and a Water Tribal immigrant. Unlike you he has to two nations which means he has two hearts. Because of this he can never have true nationality, this war is killing his mother's kinsmen and he can do nothing about it because doing so will mean that he has to go against his Fire Lord. But when you love something, someone, an idea, or anything you will fight for it no matter who/what stands in your way" his deep wise voice shook my body as his words engraved themselves into my very soul. He pointed his wrinkled, old clawed finger towards the man as he lowered the blazing fire, orange curtain that separated us from them.

"Chain the beast up and help your fellow countryman up. Clean him up and send him home with an honorable discharge. Make him swear on his name that he will not seek vengeance for him mother's people before he is released" my grandfather said as the man was dragged out of the throne room. His back was tore open in multiple places thanks to a public lashing this morning. But I could still see the Fire Nation symbol branded on his back, it was centered on his spine making the symbol cover his back entirely.

"That symbol means that his body, mind, and soul belongs to the Fire Nation and its people. That includes his mother and his water-bending little sister. So he actually didn't do anything wrong, his job is to make sure that everyone in the Fire Nation is safe, happy, and he has to honor his Fire Lord" he said as the doors to the throne room closed with a loud thud.

"The question is Azula, will you let a man with a title stop you before you even began? Or will you tousle with Agni just so your dreams to come through?" grandfather asked me as he raised the fire just in time as my father walked in to the throne room.

End of Flashback

I looked up and without realizing it I walked right to Katara's door. My hand gently raised to knock on her door and before I could even tap on it, it opened by itself.

"I was wandering why the air outside my door got hot all-of-a-sudden. Care to join me in my room Azula?" Katara asked as she opened the door wider and stepped aside.

I nodded as I walked into her private quarters. Just like mine it had all white walls and an all-black bed but unlike mine her black armor sat in a white case while mine sat in a black case. Turning back I looked at Katara, her chocolate hair now touched her waist in gentle waves, her eyes reflected the light from the moon as it slipped into her window. I took off my boots and put them the bottom of her bed as I crawled into the middle of her bed. I placed my back against the headboard, I patted the space next to me and as she moved to sit next to me I wrapped my arms around her waist to pull her into my lap.

"How are you on this fine night my love?" I asked as I nuzzled her neck with my nose.

"I'm good now that you're here. Are you ready for tomorrow?" she asked me as she pushed her back into my chest. I tightened my right arm around her waist as my left hand rubbed her stomach in gentle circles.

"I'm ready for anything as long as you have my back. Speaking of having my back, here you go" I said as I handed her the blue choker. She took it and attached something before turning slightly around so that she could clip it around my neck. I bent my neck down slightly so that she could clip it properly. I rubbed the purple gem to feel what was engraved into it.

"Gran-Gran used to tell me that in the Northern Water Tribe people exchange engagement necklaces to the ones their betrothed to. It's a way to show that they own person their betrothed to" Katara says as she kissed my cheek before turning back around to rest on my body.

"So what your say is that you own me right?" I asked trying to down play the seriousness of the necklace. I could feel her body heat up letting me know that she was blushing.

"Well…I…umm…when you put it that way" said Katara as she tries to make a statement that wouldn't cause her to put her foot in her mouth. I just chuckled in response as I pulled my red choker from her hand to attach the small medallion onto the middle before I clipped it around her neck.

"By placing this necklace on you I claim you as mine, okay?" I asked her as she turned her head slightly to look at me. Her body heat escalated higher and I started to feel a burning sensation in my eyes.

"Well Azula I'd have to agree to be yours before you can actually claim me. What if I don't want to be yours then what?" Katara replied as I look into the mirror on her make-up table. When I heard her say them words my whole felt as if someone had set my body on fire. A rumbling sound shook my chest as my grip on Katara tightened. My eyes flashed a bright gold as my pupils started to elongate into vertical slits.

"But I'll be if you'll be mine" she said as her eyes met mine in the mirror. Katara's eyes glowed a bright luminescent pale blue as she raised her right hand to rub the back of my head affectionately.

"I'll be yours Forever" I said, my words turned into a growl at the end as I turn away from the mirror to bury my face into her neck.

"Then I am yours my dear Azula" her voice was a gentle echo of the animalistic growl I just released a few seconds ago. As she started to hum and run her fingers in my hair I started to fall into a trance. But I was lucid enough to know that she pushed our bodies under the covers while pressing her back against my chest. Before I lost myself into the world of dreams I could hear a deep purring rumble emanate for within me, putting us into a calming and untroubled sleep.

I'm so happy that I'm final getting Azula a little Katara time even though I don't think I did I well enough. Oh well... so can you tell what is happening to the girls? I'm also happy that my older brother is turning 20 tomorrow and I'm turning 19 eleven days later. Yeah so this is kind of an early birthday present from me to you, I hope you like it.

See you later
