I'll Be Right Here Waiting For You

Day 2 - afternoon part 3 - Kagome pov

I jolted up in my seat, quickly and suddenly breathing heavily. Everyone jumped when they heard the screeching noise of the chair scratching the floor.

"Is there a problem Miss. Higurashi?" the teacher had said.

I was focused on the rapid beating of my heart, and the painful stinging that lasted for several seconds, it vanished as soon as it came.

What was that? I shook my head and apologized to my teacher, and siting back down on my chair. My teacher harrumphed and turned around to continue on with the lesson.

I felt a cap of a pen poking my back, I tilt my head to see my friends edging on their seats, asking if I was okay.

I was fine wasn't I? I must've been falling asleep again, but I could've sworn that what had caused that pain - it must've been something more.

My other classmates were staring at me, some knew me from junior high and they shot weird looks in my direction. They knew me because of the crazy illnesses I 'got' last year.

Before I knew it, the bell rang and everyone started to leave the classroom, they were wanting to go home. It was the last class of the day and boy it was a long day.

I had other things on my mind and school wasn't one of them.

"Kagome are you sure you are well enough to go home by yourself?" Ayumi had asked me, Eri and Yuka were looking at me with worried looks.

I smile a fake smile, I know that they know it was fake because of the look in their eyes. "Yes, you guys don't have to worry, my house isn't far."

They wave goodbye and so do I, and once they were out of sight, I run home as fast as I can.

Maybe that pain from earlier could've been that it was telling me that the well was working again, a small spark of hope coursed within me, it had to be that!

Once I arrive home, I didn't see my brother anywhere, he still must be at school. I knew my mother was inside, probably making dinner for us, and my grandfather -well he must be in the shed or in his room.

I noticed Buyo sleeping on the roof, it would seem that he has been wandering around the house, he usually does that to find Inuyasha.

Slamming the shoji doors of the well house, I throw my book bag to the side and quickly go down the stairs. It seems that the adrenaline is getting to me, my heart starts to race when I placed the palms of my hands on the ledge of the well.

I prop one leg over the ledge and jump into the well.

I know it didn't work and I felt excruciating pain shoot up my leg. My hope vanished. That doesn't mean I would stop trying.

Author's Note

It took a little while for this one to post, an earthquake happened when I began to write it and I had to carry my two year old cousin out to the street where my family was standing as well. It scared the life out of me, but no one was hurt, although somethings were broken. Everything is fine now.
