Just to note because I got this question from another guest reader and I have gotten them in the past, Canon relationships (existing relationships in the show) except for Regina and Leopold are the same as they are in show. I might go about a different way of getting them together but they will definitely be together. For example, a guest reader was worried that I was putting Snow and Graham together. That is DEFINITELY NOT happening, but yes Mary Margaret will have a harmless nothing to come of it, childhood crush on Graham, nothing more. David/Charming is her true love.
Chapter 10
Regina's POV
The next day they found out their classes. Regina got all the ones she wanted except for the fact her Literature class was at 8:00. At least it was just one and it was on a Wednesday. It would have been a lot worse if it was on a Friday or Monday. She did also have one 9 AM class, but she had good forethought to buy a mini fridge and store some milk and she could have milk and cereal in her dorm on those days.
Tink said, "Did you look at your schedule yet? Did you get what you want?"
Regina said, "Mainly but I have one 8 o'clock class and one 9 o'clock class. Could be worse. Hey did we get the same History class, section too?"
Tink said, "The one at 9 AM"?
Regina said, "Yes. It makes having that class at 9 AM a bit better".
Tink said, "That indeed. I also got a 8 AM class. It is Psychology and another 9 o'clock class, which is Writing".
Regina says, "I wonder if Mallory will meet us for breakfast or stay in again. Hopefully she finally got some milk for her fridge and some cereal and fruit and the like for breakfast if she does not feel like going out. Could you imagine if she has any 8 o'clock classes"?
Tink said, "Good luck to her".
They called Mallory and indeed she wanted to stay in. She told them that she had 2 9 o'clock classes but it could be worse, she could have an 8 o'clock class. Mallory said, "Do you guys have any 8 AM classes"?
Regina said, "We both have one".
Mallory said jokingly, "Poor you. "I also had some fruit she brought back from yesterday and her roommate let her borrow a bottle of water, if she agreed to go do some shopping this morning. Will you guys join me? We can make a shopping excursion out of it".
Regina joked, "Newbery Street is not THAT close to the school".
Mallory said, "True but maybe there is a Gap or something like that to look at. I'll see if Ursula and Rue want to come too".
Regina said, "Okay, I'll tell Tink. Want to meet here at 11"?
Mallory said, "Sounds good. See you then".
Regina said, "Bye see you then". She hung up the phone and said to Tink, "Mallory asked if we all want to go shopping after breakfast"?
Tink said, "For groceries and stuff"?
Regina said, "I guess".
Tink said, "Okay sounds good". Regina and Tink went to breakfast and was back by 10:45. Mallory called and said, "It will just be us. Rue and Ursula are still too tired from last night. Looks like they don't know how to party like us". Mallory got there about 11:10.
"I heard there is a Shaw's nearby. We can pick up the groceries we need there. And we would have to walk a little bit, but we could go to Newbury Street", said Mallory.
Tink grew pale. She thought to herself, "Should I just say I have a headache and head back after Shaw's or chance it and make sure they don't go to Claudia's Boutique, where she worked and just go"? Tink thought that she would probably just go back after Shaw's unfortunately. She did not want to take a chance.
The supermarket was busy. Normally it would not be busy on a Wednesday but there were a lot of college students there, due to its proximity to the school. The girls did not get a lot because they had to carry it back. Basically they got just a few bottles of water, cereal, milk and some snacks. After waiting in line for a bit, they were finally able to get to the register. When they were all done, Tink said, "I'm not feeling well. I am coming down with a headache. I'll have to skip shopping for today. Which is a shame, because I was looking forward to it".
Regina said, "That's too bad. Well we have to go back to return our stuff. Maybe you can take some aspirin and we will wait a bit to go"?
Tink said, "No I think it is one of those migraine headaches. It will take a while to subside. I don't want you to wait on my account". So they went back to Regina and Tink's dorm and Mallory asked, "Tink would you mind if I left my groceries here for now"?
Tink said, "No problem". The girls left and Tink sat on her bed waiting for them to leave. She decided she would explore more around the campus for a little bit.
Meanwhile Regina and Mallory were walking to Newbury Street. It was such a nice day to walk and they were both enjoying it. Finally they got to Newbury Street and looked in a lot of the stores. Regina got a cool looking red shirt and Mallory bought a nice pair of black heels. They walked back and finally got back to campus. Tink was sitting on her bed when they returned.
"What did you guys get"? said Tink. "I can't wait to see".
"I got this red shirt", said Regina.
"Good color for you. I bet it looks nice on you", said Tink.
"Thanks", said Regina.
"And you Mallory"? said Tink.
"These shoes. Aren't they great"?
"Yeah they are nice", said Tink.
Mallory asked again if they wanted to go to the pub tonight. Regina said, "Don't you remember, Tink does not have her fake ID yet".
Mallory said, "Well you are probably still not feeling well and want to take it easy".
Regina said, "We still have to get our books and we have class tomorrow. And I'm tired. So I would pass anyhow. But if Rue and Ursula want to join you, have fun".
Mallory said, "Alright then. I'm surprised but okay. I got to go. Maybe I will see you guys at the bookstore". She grabbed her bags and left.
Tink said, "You didn't have to do that".
Regina said, "I am tired and we do have class the next day".
Tink said, "Ok then".
"Listen I need to stop at the bank, to get some more money", said Regina. "I'll meet you at the bookstore in a little bit". Regina didn't have to go to the bank but she wanted to call Mary Margaret and didn't want Tink to know. She would leave with Tink and head towards the bank and then when Tink was out of sight, she would go back to the room to call her. She was glad she would not have to do this again. It is too stressful to have to lie and then worry about being caught. Luckily her plan worked and she called Mary Margaret. She acted like she was in a big rush and couldn't talk long. The phone call was what she expected. Mary Margaret thought it was some sort of mistake and asked to go someplace else. She told her to give it a chance and then said she had to go.
Finally she was able to go to the bookstore.
Regina was feeling a little guilty about Mary Margaret, but by the time they got back to the dorm and reread the little newsletter they got from the college, she forgot about it. They found out that the event this evening for all the students is movies and pizza at the Boston Beach.
Regina had heard something mentioned about movies on a screen and free food and the newsletter confirmed that there was going to be such an event at Boston University Beach. It was not a beach in the literal sense but was near a body of water, in this case the Charles River and students liked to sunbathe on the grass there. They were showing Poltergeist.
Regina loved horror movies but Tink did not. Regina said, "I saw this movie in the theater and I will tell you when to cover your eyes. Mallory loved this movie."Maybe she wants to come. Are you going to ask her"? said Tink.
"Why not", said Regina. Regina called Mallory and told her about the pizza and the movie. Turns out Mallory did not even know about it. She was scoping out cute guys at the bookstore and did not bother reading the newsletter. And it finished at 9. They were not planning on going to the pub before then.
Regina and Tink thought they had got there early but it had already gotten crowded. Luckily they found a decent spot in the middle of the " beach". Regina brought some old magazines to use to save spots for her friends. Regina and Tink took turns getting food. Finally their friends came. They were smart and got food before they sat down.
Regina looked around at all the students. It was difficult to scope out guys because of the sheer crowds at this event. Finally, the movie started. It was as good as she remembered. Before she knew it, it was 9 o'clock already. Regina and Tink said goodbye to their friends and headed back to the dorm.
Regina had the idea of taking a shower tonight before bed to beat out the crowds tomorrow and to give herself a little extra time to sleep. She put her books and supplies in her backpack. All that was left was to pick out the perfect outfit for the first day of classes. She thought about that gorgeous top Tink had showed her the first day. That would be perfect. She was tempted to ask Tink to borrow it. Finally, though she decided to wear one of her shirts.
Her outfit consisted of a lace ra ra skirt, a sparkly black and gold v neck tee and black patent leather pumps. She wore gold disk earrings, which were real, not costume. And she wore gold and black bangle bracelets, costume, but more high end and subtle than the ones that were currently popular. And she wore a cocktail ring, also real not costume.
Tink liked Regina's outfit and jewelry. "Your costume jewelry is great, it looks so real", said Tink.
"That's because it is", said Regina.
Tink was so embarrassed. She blushed and said, "Oh right. Anyhow you want to see what I am wearing tomorrow"?
"Sure", said Regina. It was a pretty lightweight cotton mini skirt. She wore a pretty pink, green and black floral short sleeved boat necked top made of the same cotton material with simple black sandals either a lot of straps. She wore a simple gold bracelet and necklace. It did not look like anything that was popular today, but Regina loved it a million more times than her outfit.
"Tink"? said Regina. She was going to ask her if she had a similar skirt and top but then she changed her mind. "Yes"? said Tink.
"I love your outfit", said Regina.
"Thanks", said Tink.
Finally it was the next day. Regina and Tink got ready. Neither was in the mood for a big breakfast, so both girls had a banana and a cup of tea. They made it to class in enough time. They were both surprised to discover it was in a big lecture hall with over 200 seats. They got a seat in the 10th row, which was right in the middle.
Then a young man came in. They were surprised that a man so young was the professor. They quickly found out that he was a Teacher's Assistant or TA. He said that he was here to explain the syllabus (or overview of the rules, homework, projects and how they were graded). He explained after he was done, their professor would come out and introduce himself and give a short lecture.
Tink was surprised about the type of work they were getting and the way the assignments were arranged but Regina was used to it, based on the program she took in high school. Before they knew it, class was done. Tink had to get to her next class, which she thought was 9, but was actually 9:15. Nevertheless she had to rush to it anyhow. Regina's class was not until 10:00, so she had enough time to get cereal at the dining hall and coffee. In the future she would probably just have another piece of fruit, but it was her first day of class, so she decided to indulge herself.
All of her friends were not able to meet for lunch because of their schedules, but Tink and Mallory were able to join her for lunch.
Mallory was complaining about the work. She said, "Regina, you are going to help me with the work"?
Regina laughed and said, "You mean do the work for you? Not likely. Just find a nerd to help you. Just flirt a little and they will fall all over your feet or you could just actually do the work"?
Now it was time for Mallory to laugh and say, "Not likely. But I like the nerd idea".
Mallory and Regina went to relax and Tink said, "I want to get this article we need at the library and then do my work at the library. You said that you wanted to relax first and I don't want to disturb you."
"Thanks. Will I see you for dinner"? said Regina.
"Maybe", said Tink. She was really going to her job, but she did not want to tell her friends yet or maybe not at all. None of her friends had a job at college. She was debating with the idea of telling her friends that she worked in the clothes store to try to promote her clothes. Perhaps she would later. She would have to likely do some of the work on the bus or when Regina was in class. So telling her version of the truth may not be a bad idea after all. She would see.
Regina and her friends were looking forward to the weekend. This would be the first time they could attend a fraternity party. All the friends were going including Tink. The frat party they were attending is at Lambda Chi Alpha. That is where all the gorgeous and popular frat guys hung out. Mal was looking to score a boyfriend, as well as Rue and Ursula. Regina claimed that she was not interested in a boyfriend this time but confided to Tink later that if she met the right guy, she would consider dating someone. They all took extra care in picking out outfits for the party. They all picked out the shortest skirts they had and Tink had some great suggestions for what tops they should wear. Mal was helping Ursula and Rue with their makeup. Regina was helping Tink with her makeup. Finally it was time for the 5 ladies to go to the party.
It was already crowded by the time Regina and her friends got there. When they arrived a guy thrust red solo cups into each of the lady's hands. They walked around and found a spot and swayed to the music. Mal saw a cute guy and asked him to dance. Rue also saw a guy and went to a corner with him. Ursula, Regina and Tink remained. Ursula saw a friend she met in her Psychology class and went to talk to her. Regina saw Tink looking at the other side of the room by a table. "Tink, who are you looking at"? said Regina.
"Have you ever met the guy with that tattoo over there?" said Tink.
"Who? The guy with the dark blond hair and mustache?" said Regina.
"Yes. Doesn't he seem cute?" said Tink
"I guess", said Regina.
"You should go over and say hi to him", said Tink.
"Sure, why not", said Regina. She took her time though going over to him. But when she got to his side of the room, one of his buddies got his attention and they walked away. Regina came back and said, "Oh well. Guess not a good time". She didn't look disappointed.
"Maybe you can catch him later", said Tink. "Oh wait, I see someone and I want to talk to them. Do you mind?"
" No, it's fine", said Regina. Regina was looking around and saw finally the guy's buddy left. She decided to go to him and introduce herself.
"Hello. Are you a Lambda Chi Alpha?" said Regina.
"Hi. No I'm not, my friend John is though and got me an invite to the party. I'm a Pi Kappa Alpha", said the guy. "My name is Rob and your name?" said Rob.
"Regina", said Regina.
"Are you a freshman? I don't remember seeing you at the parties", said Rob.
"Yes. That's right", said Regina.
"I'm a sophomore and a legacy. My dad and grandfather went here, so they figured I would too", said Rob.
"Not Ivy League"? said Regina. Regina instantly regretted that comment and quickly said, "I don't know why I said that. Forget I said that. I'm sorry".
Rob looked at Regina for a moment and then said, "Well I wouldn't want to go to a snooty Ivy League school anyhow. Would you?"
"No. Not really", said Regina. "Anyhow. What are you involved in at this school?"
"The fraternity, archery, and I volunteer for Big Brother Big Sister", said Rob.
"Quite interesting", said Regina.
"And you. What are your plans?", said Rob.
"Join a sorority? Not sure what else besides that yet", said Regina.
"Well if you decide you want to become a Big Sister, you know who to ask", said Rob.
Regina narrowed her eyes and said, "Well I don't think that will happen".
"Oh really?" said Rob. "Forget I asked".
"Sorry. It's just not my thing", said Regina.
"Okay. Well anyhow I see one of my friends calling me. Maybe I'll see you later", said Rob.
"Sure", said Regina. Regina was angry at herself. She sounded like a snobby brat. She was sure she turned Rob off.
Suddenly she saw Tink come to her. "How did it go"? said Tink.
"I blew it. I acted like a snob", said Regina.
"Maybe it's not as bad as you think?" said Tink.
"It's probably worse", said Regina.
"He probably forgot all about it already", said Tink.
"Like he forgot all about me already. I'm so out of practice", said Regina.
"Really, someone like you, attractive and smart?" said Tink.
"Oh well I mean I haven't dated anyone serious in a while", said Regina.
"Right. Well everyone has their moments sometimes. I wouldn't think too much of it", said Tink.
"Anyhow, did you meet anyone"? said Regina.
"This guy who is really cute but turned out to be a jerk", said Tink.
"Why?", said Regina.
"Because we were talking not even one minute and he already propositioned me", said Tink.
"Ugh. I see why you think he is a jerk", said Regina. "Have you seen the others?".
"Just Ursula briefly. I haven't seen Mal or Rue in a while", said Tink.
"Oh", said Regina. Suddenly Mal came up to them and said, "I met this hot guy. We'll be busy for a bit. See you both later".
"Wait. Did you see the others"? said Regina.
"Sorry, no. Can't talk. See you later", said Mal.
"That was rude," said Tink.
"I guess. Anyhow maybe there are other guys we can talk to?" said Regina.
"I suppose. See anyone you like"? said Tink.
"Just Rob. but I probably blew that?" said Regina.
"Maybe not. Wait here. Let me talk to him", said Tink.
"No don't! What are you going to say?" said Regina.
"Don't worry. I'm just feeling him out. I'm not going to reference your conversation", said Tink.
"Okay. Thanks", said Regina.
Regina watched Tink as she spoke to Rob. After a minute or two they were both laughing. Then Tink came back and said, "I think he still likes you. You should go back and talk to him. He may want to give you his number", said Tink.
"What exactly did he say?" said Regina.
"He said you seemed nice but probably a bit nervous. That is understandable. He said that he feels that way sometimes too. But he definitely seemed interested", said Tink.
"Well I might go over to talk to him. I'm not sure though", said Regina.
"Don't wait too long", said Tink as she winked and smiled at Regina.
Regina decided to go over to Rob and talk to him again. "Sorry I was a bit nervous. That is why I said some of the silly things I said", said Regina.
"It happens", said Rob. "I've forgotten about it. What's your name again? Just kidding Regina. But in all seriousness, I have said things sometimes and was embarrassed after. We are all guilty of it".
"I guess. Anyhow, so you live at the Pi Kappa Alpha house"? said Regina.
"Yes. But we call it the Pike house. We are having a party next week. Are you coming"? said Rob.
"I may do just that. So where is the Pike house and when is the party"? said Regina.
"It's on University Rd. by Ashton St. It's at 8 PM next Saturday", said Rob.
"Great. I guess I will see you then"? said Regina.
"Sure great. Do you want another beer"? said Rob.
"Ok", said Regina.
"I'll be right back", said Rob.
"Who is that cute guy whom you were talking to?" said Rue.
"Oh, I didn't see you there. His name is Rob and hands off", said Regina.
"So you must really like him. I get it. He's cute", said Rue.
"What have you been up to"? said Regina.
"Met some cute guys of my own. This party has been fun and productive", said Rue.
"Good for you", said Regina. "He's coming back, so we will talk more later".
The party went for another 2 hours and then they all left. Rue, Mal and Regina all had smiles on their faces as they left.
