10 – Duty
Ibiki scowled down at the paperwork at his desk. Every time he turned around it seemed to multiply and no matter how many hours he spent at it he never got done. Exasperated Ibiki decided that enough was enough and stood.
"You goin' anywhere?" A voice called.
"Yes, Anko. I'm calling it a day." Ibiki didn't turn around as the woman swayed her way over to peer closer at his desk.
"But biki-chan. You haven't finished yet!"
"And the paperwork will still be here tomorrow. At the moment I have more important things to do." He shrugged on his leather coat and began making his way to the door.
"But… but Biki-chan! You never leave your paperwork unfinished!" The woman seemed horrified at his sudden disinterest in the horrible imitation of a tree that covered his desk.
"Hn." He grunted and left, the woman staring after him as he left. A short walk took him passed the Hokage tower and the hospital, through the day-market and finally to the apartment complex he called home. His keys didn't make a sound as he unlocked the door and opened the door. Walking inside he shrugged out of the coat he didn't need and threw it carelessly over the back of the sofa. A brief scan had Ibiki honing in on a chakra-signature in the home. His feet carried Ibiki that way, more or less on their own.
Opening the bedroom door Ibiki was greeted by the sight of yellow hair splayed out over a pillow, long limbs carelessly draped over the bed. Ibiki shook his head as he got out of his shoes, kicking them into a corner. Getting into bed beside his love Ibiki carefully gathered the other into his arms. Sleepy eyes opened briefly before a pair of arms wrapped around him.
"You're home. Finally." Ibiki chuckled lowly at the sleepy voice, almost undistinguishable as it was mumbled against his chest.
"Yes, finally. Sleep love. I'll be here when you wake up." There was a nod against Ibiki's chest and the man pressed a soft kiss against the fluffy hair. Then, when he was certain Naruto was asleep Ibiki whispered.
"I always thought that duty came before relationships, but that was before I met you Naruto."
AN: Still alive! At least I think so. Life has been going up and down lately, got a job 6 months ago that didn't leave me much time to write in. However I can proudly say I'm almost ready to update most of my stories (go me!). If anyone has suggestions on events that may or may not happen I'll be delighted if you shared your thoughts with me! I love criticism!
Hopefully I'll have the time to post something more today, (as I'm home sick from work), if not you might have to wait until the week-end. Now I'm of to make myself some dinner.
