A/N: Let's cook up some romance, shall we? And let's throw in a pinch of jealousy too.
Thank you to my beta, bornfreeonekiss, who is apparently very poetic; she added in a lot more cheesiness and fluff into this story. XD
I do not own Austin & Ally.
Day Nine
The kiss had been short. The kiss had been wonderful. But they hadn't talked about the kiss. Not during the entire car trip. Not when they returned. And honestly, it was driving Trish crazy.
She tried to convince herself that she had been under the influence of the winter wonderland scenery that had caused those weird 'butterflurry feels'. Why did she care anyway? IT'S DEZ FOR PETE'S SAKE, she shouted to herself inwardly.
"Hey Trishita-bonita." Ugh.
"I will punch you in the face, Chuck."
"So feisty."
Trish sighed, "What on earth do you want?"
Chuck took the seat next to Trish, "You're helping that hyper lady Hazel cover for one day right? Aren't you supposed to be working?"
"I am," replied Trish. Chuck just raised his brow in question.
"I'm watching over the people to make sure that no one is being buried alive," said Trish as she laid back into the beach chair.
"I see..."
The two sat there in silence for a few seconds before Trish got annoyed by his presence, "What the heck do you want?"
"You…" he trailed off slowly, a mischievous yet mysterious grin hanging on his face. He hurriedly finished his sentence when he sensed that Trish was getting fed up with the suspense. "To be my girlfriend."
But that didn't stop Trish from punching him hard on the arm anyway.
"Ow! You didn't let me finish!"
Trish narrowed her eyes at him as she continued throwing multiple punches on his arm.
"Ow, ow, ow! Wait, ow! I just need your help – ow! – to make – ow! – Didi jealous!
"Wait." Trish stopped in her movements and furrowed her brows, confused. "Didi? As in, Dez's sister?"
Chuck proceeded to explain to her about their entire video chat romance, and he almost professed his love for Didi as well before Trish stopped him in time to avoid hearing about the stomach-turning sweetness.
"I don't think making her jealous is your best idea though," a contemplative Trish shot down the plan.
After much pestering, and Trish aww-ing at Chuck's devotion, the girl finally reluctantly agreed to be his pretend girlfriend for a day to test Didi's reaction.
Not to mention, she was getting paid 20 bucks to do it too of course.
'I am going to hell for this,' Trish grumbled to herself as she waited at the food court. She had only semi-dressed up for the 'date', which she still found wrong about lying to Didi.
She hadn't even told Ally about it, which reminded her that she also hadn't spoken to Ally since she returned from the trip yesterday evening. She made a mental note to send Ally a text after she was done with…this.
"Hey, Trishalicious."
Trish groaned, "She's not even here yet, keep the pet-names to yourself."
"Hey, I gotta feel the zone, to be in the zone."
That didn't even make any sense. Trish turned to look at Chuck who was dressed in his usual cowboy clothes.
"Not even bothering to make an effort huh?" she commented amusedly.
Chuck was about to reply when he saw a flash of red hair approaching them. "Didi's coming!" hissed Chuck. Trish flustered a little, not sure what on earth she was supposed to do. She didn't want to do anything, especially not with Chuck.
"HAHAHA! YOU'RE SO FUNNY, TRISHIPOO,"
"Pretty sure the girls are the ones who are supposed to say that," Trish susurrated*, resisting the urge to roll her eyes.
"Just play along!" shot Chuck back in a whisper.
Trish swallowed her threats down, painting a sweet smile on her face.
"Trish? Chuck?"
Trish froze. Oh heck no.
"Oh, hey Red," Chuck acknowledged Dez.
Trish couldn't look at Dez while he looked down at them questioningly.
"What are you two doing here?"
"We're on a date!" Trish wished Chuck hadn't said that. For a spilt second she thought she caught a glimpse of anger flicker through Dez's features. But the expression came and went so quickly, she wasn't sure if it was real or if she had just imagined it.
"I didn't know you two were dating!" Dez continued with a bright smile even though his eyes seemed dimmer. At that very moment, Trish kind of wanted it back to being bright with laughter like always.
"Yeah. It's our, uh, first date," grinned Chuck.
"Chuck?" And here arrived the girl of their target.
"What are all of you doing?" Didi walked up to the group.
"They're on a date!" explained Dez, maybe sounding a little too overenthusiastic. Trish bit her lip to refrain from blurting out the truth.
"A date?" Didi repeated, looking a little downcast.
"Yep, me and Trishita-bonita here," Chuck put an arm around Trish.
Trish gave a forced laugh, "Oh you."
Dez frowned and looked away from the couple.
"Dezy-cakes!" A large blur of brown hair ran towards the group and hugged Dez.
"M-Mindy?" choked Dez.
"You might want to let go. Red's turning blue," observed Chuck.
"Oh, I'm so sorry Dezzy-wezzy-kins," she loosened her hug but kept her arms around him.
Dez smiled nervously at her. "Erm, Mindy, perhaps you should let go?"
Mindy pretended not to hear him and continued smiling at him like a lovesick fool. Dez anxiously looked around him for help, his eyes meeting Trish's.
"I didn't know that you and Trish were dating," Didi went back to the topic of Chuck and Dez.
"Wait, these two are dating?" Mindy's eyes widened. "So this means Dez is mine!" she screeched animatedly and clinged tighter onto Dez's arm, much to his dismay.
"Ugh, go away, Mindy," Trish spoke up.
"Make me, De la Rosa!"
Trish stepped up and faced Mindy, the two standing almost face-to-face. Of course, Mindy was much taller than Trish so she was glowering down at the curly haired girl.
"Um…" both boys tried to intervene.
"STAY OUT OF THIS!" the two fierce women shouted.
Chuck and Dez decided to cower back from the intensity of the girls' glares.
Dez was wondering how the heck all of this had happened. He had been on his way to find Trish when he saw her smiling sweetly at Chuck.
He had wanted to be certain of his feelings and get Benji's approval first before approaching Trish and confessing everything, but he had come across her and Chuck – of all people – on a date! Oh, and did he mention that Trish had been smiling really sweetly at that pseudo cowboy?!
"Dezy-roo's mine, De la Rosa! You've got your own guy!"
"Chuck's not my guy! And Dezy-roo's mine!" Trish bit her lip as she realised what she had said out loud. And, did she just call him Dezy-roo? Ack.
Dez bit back a smile upon hearing Trish's words.
"Wait, you and Chuck are not dating?" questioned Didi, extremely confused.
Trish groaned. She wanted to get out of here, far away from Dez's stares.
"Uh, I think I can explain this," coughed Chuck, wanting to ease the awkward tension between everyone. "You see, Didi…I was just asking Trish to help me get your attention…"
"My attention?"
"Yeah…I like you, Didi. Heck," he threw his hands up. "I might even love you!"
All heads turned to Didi following the bold love confession. The said girl merely stood there, her eyes widened with surprise, not saying a single word. Chuck sighed and stooped, taking the silence as a cruel rejection from the redhead.
But to his surprise, Didi let out a giggle.
"Oh, Chuck!" she flew into Chuck's arms. "You didn't have to do all of this! I like you too!" Dez gasped and gaped at his sister and his supposed archenemy hugging each other so lovingly.
'That went strangely well for them. Now, time to escape,' thought Trish as she tried to leave without anyone noticing.
Before she could, however, Dez grabbed her arm and stopped her right in her tracks.
"Mindy?" he turned to the abrasive girl, calling her name in a serious tone, nothing like Trish had ever heard from him before.
"Yes, Dezy-cheeks?"
Dez's only response was to pull Trish into a passionate kiss. Trish's eyes widened for a moment, panic filling her before she stopped for a second to feel Dez's lips on hers, all warm and soft. At that moment, everything felt so right. The hands of time seemed to have stood still as a wave of calmness washed over Trish. Following her heart, she fluttered her eyelids close and kissed him back.
"Dez! What is the meaning of this?!" demanded from Mindy before an anguished huff escaped from her. But the two were lost in their own private world, oblivious to the angry demands from the third party. Growling furiously, Mindy eventually stomped away defeated, vowing to find another man more devoted to her.
Meanwhile, Austin and Ally were gawking at the two from behind a surfboard in Billl's Surf Shop.
Austin and Ally walked into the practice room of Sonic Boom, both shell-shocked at the entire scene they had just witnessed.
"So…" Austin tentatively began.
"So…" Ally didn't know what to say.
"Dez and Trish…" continued Austin.
"Yeah…"
"You owe me pancakes! Hah!" a gleeful Austin did a little dance.
"W-what? No way, if anything, you owe me pickles! Lots and lots of pickles," protested Ally.
"Nuh-uh, Trish was the one who said 'Dezy-roo's mine' first."
"Yeah, but Dez was the one who kissed her."
"Trish confessed first!"
"Dez took initiative first!"
"Well…," Austin flustered a little. "Well, Dez only asked her out because I dared him to!"
Ally gasped in indignation, "What?! And how dare you imply that Dez wouldn't ask Trish out if there wasn't a dare!"
"Well, he probably wouldn't have! They are always fighting! And you know how scary Trish can be!"
"I'll have you know that Trish is a wonderful girl!" Ally's voice grew louder.
"Scary is still scary, Ally! And don't you shout at me!" Austin shouted back equally loudly.
"Well, Trish only pretended to date Dez in the first place because she had to write a magazine piece on dating!"
It was Austin's turn to be indignant, "What?! So Trish was using Dez?!"
"Oh, don't make it sound so awful. At least she attempted to be nice. Unlike Dez who was dared to."
"Yeah, she attempted to be nice for a story!"
"Not true! Sure, she started out pretending to be nice, but then-"
"How could you girls conspire against Dez?!"
"Please, Dez and you were doing the same. No wonder Trish told me he was behaving more annoying than usual. He was trying to get her to dump him!"
"And no wonder Dez told me that Trish was weirdly being nice to him all of a sudden. She did it for a freaking story!"
"Would you stop harping on that?!"
"It's not my fault that you girls decided to use a friend for your dark, ulterior motives."
"Stop dramatising everything! At least we had a real purpose! You two just did it for fun!"
"So are you trying to say that the both of them are obviously not meant to be together?"
"You know that that's not-"
Ally paused mid-sentence as the two breathed heavily from their shouting match; they had an uneasy feeling that someone was watching them.
Austin and Ally turned around to see Dez and Trish at the entrance of the practice room.
