Howdy! Bet you thought that last chapter was going to be it huh? Well, that was the 'What Happened After' chapter. This is a bonus chapter. A kind of sneak peek, into how I made the SEGA characters' pasts.
ABCSonicKirbyWarriors: Yeah, it IS confusing. But, like you said, that was the point. I'm putting up the next story, I hope you review on that one too! Once again, thank you for all your reviews!
So, here it is, the bonus chapter!
Disclaimer: Rights go to SEGA for creating Sonic and Co. I only own plot. Thank you.
Bonus Chapter: Sonic's Loss
It was sundown when Sonic got Tails back home.
The speedy blue hedgehog shut the young kitsune's door. Behind said door, Tails, said kitsune, was curled up in a ball on his bed, sleeping.
Sonic headed down the stairs and practically collapsed on the couch. The teenage hedgehog hung his head in his hands, rubbing his forehead. Images of the brother's recent struggle with Eggman flooding his mind.
This was too much like the accident six years ago.
The accident that cost him his best friend.
Flashback- Six Years Ago, Before Finding Tails
"Hey! I'm back!" Sonic called out, walking through the front door of the house he and his crime fighting partner shared. The blue hedgehog was carrying two bags, it was his turn to get the groceries.
Setting the bags on the table, the nine-year-old hedgehog-boy turned around to survey the small home. He frowned, something wasn't right here. Where was she? Normally she'd be sitting, or napping in most cases, on the couch when he came back.
"Kni? Kni you here?" Sonic called, heading for the stairs. He checked the two rooms, she wasn't in either. An anonymous feeling settled over the young hedgehog. It wasn't like her to just up and vanish.
"Sonic! Sonic help!"
Two Days Later, By the Ocean…
"Let her go!" Sonic demanded the cloaked man glaring up at him. The man only smirked, pressing a button on his control panel.
"Gah!" the girl hedgehog cried out as the metal hand squeezed her tightly as electricity coursed through her body.
"No! Kni!" Sonic called out, fear wrapping around him.
"D-don't worry a-about me S-Sonic! J-just stop h-him!" Kni gasped out, shutting her eyes against the pain.
What to do? If he attacked, Kni could be seriously hurt, but if he didn't, she would be anyway…
Shutting his eyes, Sonic dashed towards the robot, prepared for the worst.
After the Battle…
Sonic stood at the edge of the ocean, looking out at the wreckage floating on the waves. The young hedgehog's green eyes searched for signs of life.
But there was none.
End Flashback
Sonic shook his head, taking a deep, shaky breath. He couldn't, no wouldn't, think about her. Not after six years.
But it was hard, even more so when he still lived in the same house. Sonic had even given Tails his room, and switched into the other one when he brought the kitsune home. The one she had lived in.
Sonic's eyes started to water and he blinked rapidly to keep them from spilling over. Slowly, the blue blur got to his feet and headed to his room. Once inside, he closed the door and headed for the nightstand beside the bed.
Opening the cabinet, he shifted through various objects till he found a small dark brown wooden box with a pink swirl design traced around the edges.
Opening the box, Sonic carefully drew out a necklace. The chain was golden and on the clasp was a small emerald the color of warm gold. The jewel glowed, pulsing softly in the light as if it also mourned for the loss of its owner.
Now the tears fell, and Sonic closed his fist around the necklace.
"I'm sorry. I'm sorry I wasn't fast enough to save you." he whispered.
Outside, a dark figure was watching, golden eyes also filled with tears. It wasn't your fault Sonic. I'm sorry.
Dun-dun-dun. There's only one word I can think of to describe this scene: intense. Really, I mean, we learn that Sonic lost his best friend and partner six years ago. That's sad. Really.
Well, next time we meet it'll be in my next story. So, till then everyone!- JAF logging out!
