"Lady Eve, do you truly believe you can save my brother?"
"Yes, I do." I said with a surety that I had never heard in my voice before. He stood suddenly and strode across the room and opened the door. "We're leaving soon, you'll need to prepare." I looked at him in bewilderment. "But Fury-" "I'm willing to do whatever I have to if it means getting my brother back, Fury be dammed."

I walked through the busy streets of New York with determination. After Thor helped me escape I was able to grab a change of clothes and my suit and a few of my weapons. I flew to an old warehouse where I changed into my current attire, a black sweatshirt, pants, and my combat boots. I had tied my hair back and the necklace Loki gave me sat comfortably around my neck.
"Ma'am I don't think this is a good idea." I sighed irritably as I weaved through the growing crowd of people. "Jarvis if you don't keep quiet I'm going to step on you. I need to do this and I need you to keep my location away from Tony. Oh, and next time, at least let me know when someone is overriding your system to find me."
I had to find Loki, I had to try to fix this. I couldn't just sit back and do nothing and let him go through this alone. I went through the security footage from when he arrived and stole the Tesseract and what I saw wasn't a sane person. If what Thor said about Loki falling into the void was true anyone could have gotten to him and no one would have known. If I could figure out who did this then maybe I could go directly to the source and stop it. "Loki where ever you are we need to talk, please."
My phone began to ring in my pocket and the number came up as unregistered. "How the hell do you have this number?"
"Agent McAllister."
I stopped dead and bit the insides of my cheeks. Of course it would be my SO, don't get me wrong I'm glad he's back and he's okay, but I didn't have time for this. "Agent Barton, welcome back." I said as I ducked into the shade of an overhang. "Look, I know your probably pissed at me right now-"
"I stuck my neck out for you Eve! I had direct orders to kill you but I disobeyed so you could have a chance. I could have been killed for treason!"
"So why didn't you? Why don't you?" I challenged.
"You were just a kid, I thought I could help you use your skills for something good."
"I have but no one trusts me! I've done so much because of my abilities but everyone is always treating me like I'm still a criminal! I know I killed a lot of people but I was trying to stay alive. I was scared, I didn't know what I was or who you people were, so I did the only thing I thought I could. I know I'm a monster and now I realize I'm not even from this realm, but Loki has always been there. He was the one who helped me escape, he taught me how to fight and how to defend myself. I'm sorry if you're not okay with it but I know him better than anyone and I know this isn't him! I have enough reason to believe he's doing this under duress." By the time I finished my rant people had begun to stare.
"Duress?! Eve are you even listening to yourself? He's the God of Lies for Christ's sake! He's manipulating you!" He shouted into my ear.
"Would you like me to tell you how he's 'manipulated' me? Why would he lead me on for years when he never knew this would happen? I am sick and tired of everyone treating me like this! What are you people so afraid of?" He didn't say anything.
"Your all afraid of me aren't you?"
"Eve you have to understand, we didn't know what you were. We still have no idea but your powerful, you outsmarted me and Natasha for years, you fell off the grid at 15, you knew how to cover your tracks, you managed to hunt down and kill some of our best agents with no prior training to our knowledge. Forget the wings and the teleportation, and everything else, you were strong before all of that. I saw potential in you before I even knew about what they did but if the wrong person ever got a hold of you, you'd be unstoppable. We've only been trying to protect you, I swear."
"Protect me? Why didn't you just tell me what I was from the beginning? You took my memories of my mom, my dad, Asgard, everything. I was terrified! I-" Something above caught my eye and looking up I noticed a familiar red suit hovering just outside one of the Towers main windows. "I gotta go."
I hurried into an alleyway and shed my sweatshirt. Underneath was a red skin-tight sleeveless shirt. I guess everyone at SHEILD thought it would be funny to give the girl with the fire something red. Ha, ha. Thankfully they gave me two slits in the back to allow my wings to come out easier and they made the material flame retardant. With a running start I jumped into the air and with a few powerful strokes I was quickly ascending towards Stark Towers.
"Dad!" As soon as I called out to him a blue light shot up towards the sky from the top of the Tower like a laser. As it hit the sky the clouds parted and the blue sky was replaced by a space of well...space. Once the portal opened to its full size, skeletal beings began to pour out. They looked like corpses covered with steel armor, rotting flesh and jagged teeth making them look absolutely repulsive. They rode on some sort of aircraft that resembled a motorbike without the wheels and they all carried futuristic looking guns with the same blue glow to them as the Tesseract.
I was too late.
Let me know what you think or if you have any suggestions! :)
