~The War Begins~
Sabo watched as Whitebeard continued to laugh, the marines still in shock at his abrupt appearance. The revolutionary watched as the man set down his bisento and hunched over, crossing his arms over his chest. The marines began to murmur as they watched the captain, the Whitebeard commanders standing behind their father silently.
Sabo watched as the man lifted his head, smirking before lashing his arms out to the sides. Sabo rubbed his eyes, thinking he had seen cracks in air and wondering if that was even possible. The revolutionary's concerns were confirmed as others exclaimed their shock at the sight. Cries from the edges of the walls alerted the marines to the growing problem.
Sabo watched with wide eyes as water began to rise up like a gigantic bubble. Cries came from the other side and Sabo saw a similar giant bubble of water. The marine boats in the way being pushed back. Sabo wanted to watch the display but Ace's voice grabbed his attention and he jolted around to face his brother.
"Pop. Guys. I set out on a whim, even though you all told me not to. So why didn't you just leave me behind? My own cockiness got me into this mess in the first place," Ace shouted at the captain.
Sabo felt his heart hammer at that declaration. He knew it was mostly directed at the Whitebeard crew, but he also had the feeling that a part of it was directed at him and Luffy. Ace would want them to not come after him. He was the big brother and he was supposed to protect them. Then again, what kind of family would they be if they just left Ace to die?
Sabo clenched his eyes shut as his thoughts began to tune out Whitebeard's response. His mind went back to the times Ace had saved him and Luffy. The first time had been when Luffy was taken by the Bluejam pirates, Ace and him and fought to save Luffy. Then it was the Tiger Lord, Sabo had agreed to be bait and it was the two ravens saving him. Ace had always been the one to protect them, whether it meant staying in a blazing fire to guard Luffy from those pirates or wanting to attack a Celestial Dragon for shooting down his ship. Ace was their protector always. Now it was time for them to save him.
Sabo was broken from his thoughts at the First Division Commander's words. "Everyone on the seas knows what happens to them if they lay a single finger on one of our crewmates. We won't let anyone who hurt you get away with it alive, Ace!"
Suddenly, the ground began to shake and Sabo felt his knees buckle at the force. He had never been in such an awful earthquake. When had Whitebeard caused it? Sengoku shouted words of encouragement at the crew as he stared Whitebeard down. Sabo looked to the sides of the island and his gaped at the gigantic waves rushing towards them.
Did the old man really want to drown out the marines? Wouldn't Ace get hurt in the situation? Sabo's eyes moved to his brother, wondering if he could grab him before the tsunami crashed, but the raven was chained down. Whitebeard began laughing as the water loomed over them all. Sabo felt his stomach churn as he stared at those waves, would he be able to escape the path of destruction? Either way he'd be revealed or he'd be sinking like a rock.
"Ice age!" A figure appeared above the marine's heads their arm spread out towards the tsunami.
Sabo almost felt grateful to the admiral as Aokiji froze the water entirely, halting their advance. He felt like he needed to thank him, but then remembered the man was going to try and stop them from saving Ace. Aokiji launched an attack at Whitebeard who only used his powers to break the ice as Aokiji fell to the water below. As he touched down, he began freezing the entire bay, creating a path to the Moby Dick for the marines and to the island for the pirates.
Marines began calling for cannon fire, as the pirates on the three ships began to disembark. The commanders led their forces onto the now frozen bay. Vice admirals began moving in to fight the incoming pirates before the other marines could fully react. Sabo felt the urge to jump in as marines began to move towards the battle field. Movement from the Shichibukai caught his eye and he watched as Mihawk drew his sword.
A shockwave flew towards Whitebeard as the swordsman swung his sword. Sabo clenched his teeth in shock as he watched it move towards the Moby Dick, Whitebeard not moving from the attack's path. Just before it reached the figurehead it clashed, but not with the boat as everyone thought it would. Sabo stared wide eyed, as he reached the edge of the walls, as Jozu, the third division commander, stood before the figure head in his full diamond form launching the shockwave into the air.
Sabo felt his heart beat faster as he watched the impressive displays of power between both sides as he joined the swarms of marines entering the battle. Growing more enthralled by the battle as Kizaru launched his light attacks at Whitebeard, and the first division commander of the Whitebeard pirates blocked the attack. Marco stood between the admiral and his captain in his half-phoenix, half-human form.
Sabo unconsciously brought a hand up to his arm, touching them lightly. Could he ever achieve a fighting style as profound as Marco's in his half-form. The older man had an advantage with being a phoenix, but still, their fruits were both bird types. Could Sabo learn how to fight like him?
Sabo moved for the ice, wanting to keep up the charade for now, and buy Koala enough time to get to one of the cameras. Sabo heard the giants shout in agreement at Kizaru's warning of attacks from the sky. Sabo stared ahead, trying to pin point the first group of pirates. He heard cries of surprise and turning his head quickly he saw a giant iceberg being launched into the sky.
The Angel of Death grit his teeth as he located Jozu, finding him to be the one to throw it. "How can I compete against these guys?"
Sabo skidded to a holt as magma fists landed all over the ice in front of the marines. He turned back to see Akainu standing proudly in front of the execution stand. That guy would be the hardest to deal with out of the admirals. Ice could freeze and light could hurt, but magma was the destruction of everything.
The Seraphim Captain smirked before sprinting forward into the throngs of marines and pirates. He grabbed a couple pirates attention before leading them to a group of marines. As they moved to attack him he dodge, allowing the attack to hit the marines behind him. Sabo smirked before dashing off to do the same elsewhere. He had the cover of a marine to help draw the attention of the pirates, then he just set the traps for the marines.
The blonde glanced out into the bay as cries of surprise came, finding the towering figure approaching the battle. He had never seen anyone so large, heck he even towered over the giants. Sabo made a note not to get in the guys way, he rather liked not being squashed. He quickly glanced around the battle field as he dodge another attack. He was a bit worried as he did not find Koala anywhere on the main battlefield.
Sabo dodged an attack from a pirate, and moved further towards the throng of pirates. He barely missed a slave arrow from Hancock, and he turned to the woman. He watched as she leapt onto the battlefield, attacking pirates and marines alike. Sabo made a note to avoid her as much as possible, she didn't have any qualms about attacking anyone who got close to her.
Sabo glanced around quickly, trying to survey the situation, his eyes catching the giant marching towards the plaza. The pirates rallying around him trying to keep people off of the guy. Sabo glanced at the plaza, with the giant's help they'd definitely take the plaza quickly. Sabo glanced back towards the plaza and he felt his heart skip a beat.
He watched Kuma begin to make his move, the man setting up his ursus shock attack. The man released his attack, sending the small ball towards the giant. Sabo wanted to shout out for Kuma to stop the attack, but knew he couldn't. Kuma would only take orders from Dragon, and he'd just attack Sabo if the blonde got in the way.
Sabo could only watch as the attack hit Oars Jr., shocking the giant. The giant fell to the ground, and Sabo felt his blood run cold. If someone so big could be taken down then what could he do? Sabo bit his lip, trying to figure out a way out of this as he looked around. Though his attention returned to the giant as he heard pirates shout out in alarm, and saw Oars Jr. getting back up. Sabo watched the giant force his way towards the plaza, and towards the Shichibukai.
Sabo could only watch wide-eyed as Doflamingo dodged the attack, finally joining the battle. He couldn't see what the Shichibukai did, but he did watch as Oar's leg was severed. The blonde shivered as he heard the crazy Shichibukai cackling and exclaim how fun the battle was. Despite that, Oars continued crawling forward, an arm outstretched to Ace.
Sabo wanted to cry out as he saw the giant continue reaching for the raven on the platform, Ace shouting at the giant in despair. Just shy of the platform Oars fell as Moria joined the battle, piercing the giant's body with his shadows. Sabo froze as he heard Ace cry out the giant's name.
Sabo gulped as he looked over the battlefield, trying to figure out what he needed to do. There was so much going on, and he didn't know how he could get to Ace. Sabo grit his teeth before running again, continuing to trap the marines. He'd use his speed and brains to get to the plaza. He'd go the long way around if he had to.
~End ch. 10~
Sorry for the late update, my beta-reader is really getting busy with school and costume and work and such. So it's been hectic in fact for the next few weeks she is going to be taking a break from checking these chapters, so I'll be flying solo.
Reviewer's corner:
miranda: Thanks for the review, I can't decide where to end any of these chapters during Marineford, so much stuff.
kunf'you'z-ed: I have no idea when Luffy is arriving, trying to figure out where to end these chapters is harder then writing them.
Till next time.
