Chapter 10
Asami pulled into the driveway of Mako and Bolin's house. It's a white paneled, 2 story building that looks unintentionally white trash. Its front yard looks like it was decorated at one point, but hasn't been modified in months. But it's actually one of the nicest houses on the block, believe it or not.

The inside of the house matches the outside: Decently kept, though slightly white trash considering the alternatives used to keep the yard looking nice. However, it seems to be the nicest house on the block, probably in the whole neighborhood judging by the other houses' conditions.

Bolin unlocked the door and held it open for all of us. "Just drop your bag anywhere, Korra." He said, dropping his own backpack on the floor next to the door.

"Dammit!" Asami muttered as she stared at the screen of her smartphone, texting someone.

"What is it, 'Sami?" Bolin asked, concerned.

She let out a sharp sigh of annoyance. "My dad's meeting a couple'a dudes from Subaru; says he's considering a merger with their new warehouse in the area." She shoved her phone in her back pocket then pinched the bridge of her nose with her thumb and forefinger. "He says the meeting can't be disturbed, so he kicked me out for the rest of today and tonight. Mind if I crash here again?"

"This is the third time this month he's done this." Bolin pointed out then gave her a sweet smile, a glint of happiness and excitement in his verdant eyes. "Of course you can stay here. You're always welcome to stay with us."

"Thanks, Bo." She replied, returning the smile with the same enthusiasm. "I really appreciate it."

"No problem." He said then looked to Mako quickly as if he remembered something. "Oh, Mako. Don't you have to go to the kitchen to do something?"

Mako's eyes went wide for a brief moment before he responded. "Oh, yeah. Uh… Korra, why don't you go wait in my room upstairs." He offered. "Bolin'll show you where it is." He finished before walking down the hall I assumed lead to the kitchen.

"Follow me." Bolin said, placing his hand on my shoulder briefly before climbing up the stairs.

"Wait here." Bolin pulled out a rolling chair from Mako's desk, gesturing for me to sit down. "I'll be downstairs, and Mako'll be up in a minute. Do you need anything?" He asked, standing in the doorway.

"No, I'm fine." I said, shaking my head.

Bolin shut the door gently behind him.

I looked around Mako's room. It was painted red with white trim. There were posters of Green Day, Eminem, and Spider-Man hung loosely and crooked on the walls and door. He had Spider-Man comic books splayed out on his desk with what looks like a laptop under them. At the edge of his desk was a framed photo of him and an older man with a chinstrap goatee who looks just like him with his arm wrapped around Mako's shoulders. He seems to be a bit younger in the picture, maybe like 14 or 15 years old at the most.

"Hey, Korra." Mako greeted as he entered the room, startling me slightly. "Alright, what do you want to work on?" He asked before pulling up a chair then sitting next to me. He stacked up his comic books, placed them on the floor beside the desk, and opened his laptop.

"I don't know." I said in an unsure tone. "What do you have in mind?" I asked, trying to keep the talk going.

"I want to do something that has fire involved in it." He suggested. "Like aerosol spray and a lighter; hand sanitizer and a match. Stuff like that." He finished then started to research the topic before suddenly stopping. "Unless you wanna do something else…"

"No, it's fine. Really." I reassured then saw that glimmer in his eyes again. But before I caould really get a good look at it, it disappeared.

Bolin & Asami downstairs:

"I hope they'll get to know each other." Asami commented.

"What do you mean?" Bolin asked confused with an expression as if she was insane. "Spongebob and Patrick are best friends. They know everything about each other."

"No, you dunce." Asami jested. "I meant Mako and Korra. I hope they have an actual conversation while doing that project." She specified, causing Bolin to nod his head in understanding.

"I'm sure they'll be fine. Mako took his Adderall™ just a few minutes ago, so he should be more than comfortable in social situations." He said with confidence.

"I know, but Mako's not the one I'm worried about." Asami began nervously. "Korra seems so shy and unwilling to talk to people, just like Mako was before the meds. They just appear to be so damn similar."

"Don't worry 'bout it, Asami." Bolin said, trying to calm her nerves. "I'm sure they're getting along JUST fine up there." He assured her. "Plus, I'm sure neither Mako nor Korra appreciate us talking behind their backs, so let's just drop it for now." He added.

"Yeah…" She replied, deep in thought.

Back to Korra's POV

"So… How does that work exactly…?" I asked, thoroughly confused, referring to how the flame of the lighter expands when sprayed with the hairspray of which Mako oddly owns.

"Uuuummmm…" He hummed while scrolling down the page of the website. "Because of… Something called CFCs, or chlora- chloro-flau- fluor- uuuhhh…" He stammered in an attempt to pronounce the word.

"Chlorofluorocarbons?" I stated more than asked. "What exactly are they then?"

"They're compounds of carbon, hydrogen, chlorine, and fluorine; usually gases used in refrigerants and aerosol propellants. They're very damaging to the Ozone Layer located in below the Stratosphere and above the Troposphere due to the release of chlorine atoms upon exposure to ultraviolet radiation." He said, quoting a paragraph from the website.

"Should probably write that down…" I suggested as Mako complied by opening a word document and paraphrasing the paragraph.

One hour later:

"Hey you two." Bolin greeted as Mako and I entered the living room. "How was workin' on the project?"

"We got a decent amount of it done." Mako said, answering for the both of us.

"Hey, Mako, Bolin." Came a voice that had just entered the living room then to the kitchen adjacent to it. "I'm makin' pasta for dinner. That okay?"

"That's sounds great, Uncle Toza." Bolin replied with exuberance, getting up from the couch to join his uncle in the kitchen, Mako and I following, standing close to one another alomost protectively, yet absentmindedly.

"Hey, Toza." Asami said delightfully as she made her way to the older man, hugged him then kissed him on the cheek; the man returning the gestures.

"Asami, my darling. You stayin' for dinner?" He asked as he took out a large pot and placed it on the front left burner of the stove.

"Yeah, my dad thinking of a merger with another company." She replied in detail.

"That's the third one this month. I don't think he's gonna seal the deal." He finished then turned to me. "Oh, more company." He said then shook my hand. "I'm Toza, Mako and Bolin's Uncle."

"Korra." I said, shaking his hand back.

"You gonna stay for dinner? I'd be glad to get to know Mako's girlfriend." He offered with great politeness, causing Mako and I to back away from each other quickly.

I blushed furiously. "We're not, uh- We're not dating…" I stuttered, causing Bolin and Asami to snicker.

"I'd still love for you to stay, though." He repeated, coaxing me to rethink my decision. I mean, why would I refuse such hospitality?

"Uhhh…"

I hope you all liked the chapter even though it was short.

And, once again, I'm sorry for the late update because of my stupidity.
