Chapter Ten

.
.
Throughout the course of the events that happened after Lucy and Natsu just kissed—Lucy was feeling super dazed (in a good way of course). After all, her crush just kissed her. On the lips! And also sorta-kinda-maybe confessed his love to her.
Technically, he called her cute aloud, but to Lucy it still counted.
Lucy was so happy/confused/flustered that she couldn't really think straight. Her heart fluttered every time she replayed the events that happened in her head. She had a small skip in her step as she walked home.
She was just nearing Strawberry Street when she felt a strange feeling that she was being followed. Alarmed, she immediately stopped walking and breathed heavily. Who was following her? Was she going to get kidnapped?
Lucy reached inside her bag and pulled out her geometry book, just in case. She always had that for an act of self defense. Books can be handy too besides knowledge, especially for whacking criminals in the face.
After a few moments, Lucy decided that she was just imagining things and carefully placed the book inside of her bag, still feeling quite uneasy. It wasn't that late into the day—it was just nearing after sunset.
She just walked a couple more steps when a hand completely covered her mouth. Shocked by the sudden contact, Lucy followed her instincts. She bit the attacker's hand, who yelped in pain, and Lucy—free from their grasp—stomped her heel on their foot, causing them to scream.
Then she ran for it.
Lucy, scared out of her mind, steered away from her home (from fear to being stalked) and ran down the cobblestone floor, ignoring passersby who frowned at her and people she pushed aside.
She was very well aware that she was being followed. Unfortunately, they seemed to be a pretty fast runner. Lucy heard footsteps as close as her own breathing. She had no choice but to actually confront this guy.
Lucy remembered her geometry book, and almost grinned. Her last resort! She would go down fighting if she had to. But it was a pretty sucky day to be kidnapped. After all, her crush did just kiss her moments ago.
She stopped near the park where some children were playing on the swings. But that was quite irrelevant to the situation she was in at the moment. Whirling around, Lucy quickly pulled put her geometry book and—swung.
Her attacker had a fast reaction. He/she jumped back as soon as Lucy swung her book around in an arc—making a whoosh sound. Lucy, gritting her teeth. Took a few steps back, still holding the book out in front of her.
"I HAVE A BOOK AND I'M NOT AFRAID TO USE IT!" She yelled. "Show yourselves and stop being a fucking coward!" Her eyes narrowed as the person in the shadows seemed to hold their hands up, in complete defeat.
But Lucy was thrown completely off guard once she saw who her attacker was.
Sting came out of the shadows, his blonde hair shining from the light of the sun. He had a smirk on his face, and his arms were held up in defeat. He was wearing his Saber High uniform, and Lucy had to resist not to whack him continously on the face.
"Lucy-san." Sting greeted her with a smile. Lucy took a few more steps back, her book still raised in defiance. She so wasn't going to get off guard and let him attack her.
Instead, she jerked her head to the left. "What are you doing here? Why are you following me? Leave me alone, you creep! I don't want you here!"
"Aw," Sting said, pouting. "I thought you'd be much more fun. After all, you did catch me off guard once you fought back." he held up his hand where there was a teeth mark, and Lucy felt a wave of satisfication wash over her.
Then Lucy remembered why he was here. "So... Why did you follow me? I demand an explanation, now. Seriously."
"No reason." Sting replied a little bit too casually. His eyes glinted. "But I guess you can say that I'm a bit attracted to you, Lucy-san." He grinned, and Lucy clenched her fists.
"Go away. I'm sorry, but I don't return your feelings for me." Lucy said back, her voice rich with menance. She abruptly turned around to face the other way. "I don't like you, Sting. I'm in love with someone else."
Sting laughed without humor. "Is it that Dragneel boy? Natsu, isn't it? If you're telling me you're in love with him, then you're clearly wasting your time on someone useless."
Lucy began to walk away. She was so done with him right now. But then she turned right back around, seeing Sting with a victorious look on his face.
"I think I can tell the useless myself. I'd like you to not to waste my time in the future, thank you very much. Now excuse me, I wouldn't follow me if I were you, unless you'd like to be hit in the face with a geometry textbook." Lucy waved her book in the air.
The look from Sting's face melted into a frown, then into a smirk once more. He bent down in a bow and said sarcastically, "I'm sorry, Lucy-san. I'll see you around I guess."
Lucy humphed and walked away after placing her book back into her bag. "And don't bother to even talk to me in the future!" She yelled without turning around.
Meanwhile, Sting smiled.
"Interesting..."
The next day at school, her homeroom teacher had assigned a new seating chart, and for her it was at the back of the room next to the window. But guess who was sitting next to Lucy.
Natsu. Of all people it had to be him! Lucy couldn't fight off the embarrassed look on her face once she took her seat next to him. She remembered the awkwardness between the two of them before the kiss. That time it was because Natsu was flustered about him calling her cute out of nowhere.
What would he do now because they had actually kissed? For all Lucy knew, she was blushing furiously throughout the whole of homeroom. All she could think about was the feel of Natsu's lips on her's...
Gray and Levy were hovering somewhere near the front of the class, so it really was just the two of them who actually were friends and knew each other. Before the kiss, Lucy would've been overjoyed but now Lucy wished Levy was here to calm herself down.
She almost fell off her chair once Natsu said her name. "Luce?"
"WAAH!" Lucy yelped. Then she inwardly punched herself as she turned around to face him, her own face burning. "Y-yes?"
To her amazement, Natsu was wearing a shy smile on his expression. He lowered his voice into a whisper and leaned a bit towards Lucy so she could see the shades of brown in his eyes. "So... Are we... You know?"
By you know, Lucy figured out that he meant boyfriend/girlfriend. Her heart was beating so loud she swore that Natsu would've heard it. But words couldn't expain how happy she was feeling at the moment.
"I really do like you, you know..." Natsu said quietly, his face still red.
Lucy then grinned and giggled stupidly. "Ahahaha... I do too! So... Yes. Yeah, I guess we are, aren't we? After all, we did..." she trailed off, seeing the joyful look on Natsu's face.
"YAY!" He yelled in the middle of class, and despite the people watching, he jumped forwards and hugged her tightly, much to her embarrassment. She felt his scarf against her shoulder.
Then he shouted, "NO ONE CAN TOUCH LUCY BECAUSE SHE'S MY GIRLFRIEND OKAY? I'M GONNA BEAT YOU UP IF YOU DO!" leaving Lucy to will herself to disappear on the spot because she was so mortified.
Murmurs of amusement and laughter rippled throughout the room. Lucy saw Levy winking and giving a thumbs up while Gray whistled (and stripped once again). Mira was swooning and Erza was wiping tears on her face.
As much as Lucy was embarrassed, she still laughed and hugged Natsu back.
Today was a good day.
Natsu and Lucy were basically inseperable.
They spent so much time together, there was the occasional joke that they were joined to the hip. But Lucy laughed it off. After all, it was a month since they started dating. Levy and the rest of her other friends demanded an explanation as soon as homeroom was over that day.
Levy had laughed out loud and Mira had fainted (causing Erza to drag her to the nurse's office, literally) but they had poked fun at Lucy for being with Natsu.
"At long last," Levy had said. But this led Lucy to tease her friend about her crush, Gajeel Redfox, who notably (Lucy observed) was staring at Levy quite a lot of times. Lucy remembered that her friend had complained to her that Gajeel had destroyed some of her posessions (of which included an eraser and her book) and Lucy had smiled to herself because of this.
Natsu was super sweet too. He gave her his sweater if she was cold or if she forgot her's. He helped her a lot as well, and in return she helped him with his math. He was a wonderful boyfriend, in her opinion.
They were walking home together one day, arms linked and laughing because of what Natsu said about Gray (even though it was a bit mean). Lucy was just about enjoying life when Natsu suddenly stopped walking and his eyebrows arched.
"Wait, Luce. I sense someone." Natsu said, biting his lip.
Lucy felt a sense of dread overcome her. "Just stay here... They'll show themselves eventually..." she paused and continued. "Um, Natsu, did I ever tell you what happened when—" she cut herself off and gulped.
"When what?" Natsu asked, curious, but then his expression transformed from horrified to in complete anger.
Sting Eucliffe was standing there, his arms crossed and a grin on his face.
"Well... I wasn't expecting you to have company... But hello again Lucy-san..." he stopped to grin evilly at Natsu, who's fists were clenched.
"... And her lovely boyfriend, Natsu-san."
