"Nature!"
"Nature, come back!"
"She is kind of loopy, no? For jumping like that. Right? Or am I using expression wrong?"
"You mean she's crazy. No, wait, Jack!"
I stared straight towards the ground as I lowered myself, using the warm wind as a sort of parachute.
"Nature!" Jack shouted.
I barely glanced behind me as I continued making my way to the ground. Once I finally landed, I took off through the forest, grazing my fingers over everything that I could. Every tree that I touched became alive again, blossoming and sprouting leaves. I started to have a really good time; I think I could really get use to this kind of life. To give nature life and beauty.
It's kind of nice.
"Hey!"
I whipped around, stopping immediately.
"Oh sorry, Jack. I guess I kind of got carried away?" I panted slightly, smiling.
"Kind of?" He repeated. "Kind of? You jumped off North's sleigh! That was who knows how many feet in the air! I didn't . . . you didn't . . . did you know you could fly?" He stared at me, seemingly sad at first, more than likely thinking that I had kept something from him, but then perked up a little with a sly smile on his face. "I bet you did. You probably just wanted me to hold you."
"N-no!" I sputtered, holding out my hands and shaking my head. "I just, I just had this feeling that I could do it. I felt something and I just jumped."
Jack's smirk only grew. "Feeling anything else?"
I pondered for a minute. I'm sure he meant something different but I really was feeling something else. I had an idea that just seemed to really make sense. So I grabbed his hand and led him to a small clearing in the forest. Jack sputtered and mumbled all the way, saying something about taking me on a date first, but I just ignored him and continued on. I bent down, at the edge of the small clearing, and held out my index finger to a withered flower. The flower that I somehow know everything about - Wahlenbergia gloriosa, more commonly known as a Royal Bluebell - perked up at my touch. I smiled and looked at Jack, who seemed in awe at the flower sprouting before him.
I motioned for him to touch the flower but Jack brought his hand to his chest. "If I touch it, I'll kill it. I don't want to destroy what you just created."
I smiled and took his hand anyway, pointing out his index finger and lightly brushing it against the flower's petals. "You won't destroy anything. Not when you use love and care." Jack's eyes widened as they stayed fixated on the flower. It was alive and fully blossomed, but it was a little frosted. The mixture of the two elements was completely beautiful and apparently new to Jack.
"This is . . . wow." He breathed, continuing to stare at the flower.
"Oi!" We turned to the new voice, seeing North and Bunnymund running towards us. "Why'd you jump?"
I looked away sheepishly and Jack chuckled. "How'd you find us? She took off running the moment her feet touched the ground, I could barely keep up."
"Well, Mother Nature seems to have another ability she might not have known about." North piped in. I looked at him curiously and before I could even ask what he was talking about he pointed down at the ground behind him.
I peeked around him and saw two close lines of different flowers poking out of the ground. I looked up at North and his smiled warmly, nodding his head. With everyone's eyes on me, I stood up and stepped backwards, watching two flowers sprout where my feet had been. I did it again, just to make sure. And again, to really see if I was seeing things right. I smiled brightly to myself and started to jump around and dance within the clearing, leaving small flowers in my wake. I continued on with this for a couple of minutes before plopping myself down in the middle of the clearing.
"I completely forgot I could do that!" I was playing with a few flowers. "Why didn't I leave a trail of flowers behind me before, I mean, after I first met you guys? Why am I just now doing this?" I knew I could do it, that's one of the first things I had discovered about myself, but, it kind of stopped once I started walking through the forest, and it didn't happen again once I met everyone in those cages.
"Well," North began. "I think it is because you felt your duty as Mother Nature and channeled your powers, giving you this ability. Maybe it is something you can turn on and off?" He suggested, lifting his shoulders and glancing at the other two. Bunnymund shrugged in response while Jack only chuckled.
"It sure would be hard for you to run very far without getting caught. You'd have a trail leading right to you!"
"Why didn't you notice I could do this while you were chasing after me?" A smile graced my lips.
Jack stood upright, looking down with a pink tint starting across his cheeks and nose. "I . . . I just didn't, uhm, I guess I was focused more on catching up to you."
"Ahem." Bunnymund frowned, looking between us. "I hate to interrupt but you need to get going, Sheila. You've got the rest of this continent to do."
"And I know just how to do it!" I jumped up. I grabbed Jack's hand and ran off, calling back to Bunnymund and North. "You might want to get back in the sky for this one!"
