Sorry for the wait everyone, I'm super busy with my last study year. Thanks again for all your positive comments, they really make me want to continue for you guys (: Enjoy reading and let me know what you think xxx
'What do you mean with we think we know? What are you talking about Sky? How can you know who my soulfinder is?' I asked, while slowly starting to panic again.
'Breath Alexis, we'll stay with you if you want. Just calm down, it's not going to be bad, it's not going to hurt so you don't have to be afraid.' Sky said, ignoring my question.
I stopped walking 'I already told you, I don't want to find him! In how many languages do I have to say it before someone understands. I have reasons you know and please just tell me what you meant.'
Sky sighed and pushed me over to a small bench that stood in the corner of the big hall. The three of us sat down and when I gave the girls a questioning look, Sky started talking.
'We know a soulseeker Lex, she's positive that his soulfinder is here at the convention. Also, if you're really the one we're looking for then you've seen your soulfinder. He's sure it's you, cause when he looked at you he felt a connection. He told us that the girl disappeared before he could get to her and well, that kinda sounds like you, doesn't it?'
I looked down at my hands and started playing with my ring 'Kinda..'
'Look, I know that I don't know the whole story but what's the worst that can happen? Maybe we're wrong, maybe he's not your soulfinder but what if he is? What is-'
I interrupted her 'He can die. That's the worst that can happen Sky, and then I would be alone.'
Both the girls blinked and I could see that my words had surprised them. Sky's mouth opened and closed, which probably meant that she had no idea what to say. Phee looked just as shocked.
'Wow, that is one hell of a bad thought.' Phee mumbled after a few more seconds of silence.
I buried my head in my hands and took a deep breath, trying to calm myself down. Flashbacks of my mom and dad flashed through my mind and it hurt, it still did after all those years. And my nightmare last night did not help me at all. I was young when it happened and it always stayed with me, I didn't think that it would ever go away. The story of soulfinders used to be a fairytale for me and Connor, but after what happened to our parents it became a nightmare. I knew it was hard to understand for other savants, especially for the ones who found their soulfinders, but I just couldn't think of it as something good.
'I'm sorry, it's just how I see it.. He can die, I can die and the one who's left will be in so much pain.' I said while slowly looking up again.
Sky grabbed my hand 'But Lex, that's not going to happen! You shouldn't think like that, you're twenty-one and you have your whole live ahead of you!'
I huffed 'How could you possibly know that? It can happen every day and no one sees it coming. I can perfectly live my life without my soulfinder and so can he. I'm sure he would be a lot happier without me, I would only make him weak.'
Both the girls looked at me with such pity in their eyes that I couldn't even bear to look at them anymore.
'You don't understand, can I just go please?' I begged.
All I wanted to do right now was go home, hide under a pile of blankets and sleep without a nightmare.
'Sky? Did you find her yet?' A voice yelled from the other end of the hallway.
Sky didn't answer, she just looked at me with her worried blue eyes. Footsteps came closer and I wasn't surprised when I saw Zed coming towards us.
'Alexis? What are you doing here?' He asked as soon as he saw me sitting next to his girlfriend.
I wished that I could just disappear but I knew that I couldn't. I had to do this, they would not let me go before I saw that guy they were talking about. I wondered if he would understand me, maybe he would, maybe he could help me.
'Wait, are you the girl who ''escaped'' room two and who might be Will's soulfinder?' Zed asked when no one answered.
Will. So that was his name. I kind of liked that name, it was simple but sweet. Ugh why was I thinking this, I didn't even met the guy yet. My head was spinning of all the thoughts in my head and I had no idea what would be next for me. Were they going to force me to come with them?
Just when I was about to ask, Sky placed her hand on my knee.
'Are you coming?' she asked with a smile.
'Like I have a choice.' I growled before standing up.
'Will is waiting for you and I'm really sorry but we can't let you leave before you tried telepathy with him,' she said softly.
I could see that she really was sorry. She wanted to help me but she had no idea how.
'If he wants to meet me so badly then why is he still in that room? He saw me leave.. Why didn't he come after me?'
Phee smiled at me 'We don't know for sure if you're soulfinders, so we made him continue the matching program. Believe me, he really wanted to go after you but everyone was supposed to stay in the room..'
'Yeah whatever, let's go see him shall we.' I said, trying to sound like I didn't care.
I had to do this. For Connor, for mom and dad, for my soulfinder, but mostly for myself. I had to get this over with, my heart wanted to know if my other half was here. If he wasn't, then I would just leave this place and never look back. But if he was, then we had to face this together. Surely he would understand me, right? I really hoped he would cause this was already a big step for me, and I wasn't sure how many more of these steps I could handle. I followed Sky, Phee and Zed back to room two and as soon as we stepped inside it was like I felt his presence. I felt my skin tingle and inside I started to feel warm, it was a weird feeling and I was not sure if I liked it.
Sky grabbed my hand 'Come on Lex, he's over here.' she said while dragging me with her.
I saw him before he saw me. He was talking to a woman and I had to say, he was gorgeous. He was tall, had broad shoulders, brown hair and beautiful hazel brown eyes where you could drown in. I knew that because I've already stared into them and I wouldn't mind to do that again. When he saw us his eyes lit up and he immediately walked towards us. He took big steps and there was a huge smile on his face, which made me smile as well.
'It's you.' he said as soon as he reached us.
'It's really you.' he repeated.
