Hello! Thank you so much for the reviews on the last chapter, they are greatly appreciated. Sorry about not updating in a while and I also apologise for the shortness/potentially boringness of this chapter but it is a bit of a filler chapter before the next one which will be more interesting! Please remember to review and tell me what you think!
Chapter 10:
As Simon walked down the corridor towards the sets of doors that lead outside, he was still struggling to take in what had been said.
Looking out through the doors, he could see Chloe sat alone on the steps, her head raised and gazing into the distance. Gently opening and closing the door Simon made his way over to where Chloe was say and placed himself down next to her, looking into the distance to see the view of the local loch and its mountainous scenery surrounding it.
"Caitlyn is in Mrs Mulgrew's office looking for you." Simon said calmly as he continued to stare at the horizon. Chloe didn't move as Simon said this and he wasn't sure if she had even heard what he had said.
"I can't tell her." Chloe said croakily as her throat was tight from fighting back tears. She didn't want to cry anymore as her eyes were getting sore and tired.
"Chloe you need to tell her. She has a right to know. She's really worried about you." Simon said gently as he placed his hand supportively on her shoulder, her gaze still focused on the loch in the distance. She didn't want to turn her head to look at Mr Lowsley as t would bring her back to reality and she would have to face up to what was happening. The loch made her feel like she was partly in a different world, somewhere calm and peaceful where none of this was really happening.
"We've called your Mum and she is coming in to collect you and Caitlyn." Simon said calmly as he too turned his eyes to the loch. He understood how easily it is to get mesmerised by it, the water ebbing to and fro against the sandy banks, the sparkling sun reflecting in the blueness of the loch.
"All I wanted was one more day." Chloe said quietly as she turned to Simon. "One more day to be just me without anyone asking me questions, checking up on me, no medication, people just treating me exactly like they do any other day." Chloe explained.
"I can't bring myself to tell Caitlyn. We've always done everything together since we were born. We both learnt to swim together, to ride a bike, always been in the same classes at school, had the same friends. We both even have colds at the same time. What will she do without me?" Chloe sobbed, Mr Lowsley pulling her in for a hug, handing her a tissue out of his pocket. "This is the first time something has only happened to one of us. How am I going to get through this without her?" Chloe asked quietly as she dabbed gently at her eyes with the tissue.
"She'll be there for you. She may not being going through it the same as you but she'll be there for you I'm sure." Simon explained as he looked deep into Chloe's eyes, the fear evident within them.
Chloe turned her gaze back to the loch briefly before slowly getting up off the stairs, pausing as she waited for Mr Lowsley to get up and follow. She had to face the music at some point and decided to do it now. She would rather do it before her Mum got there as she felt it would be worse if she was there too, and that way everyone will be in the loop when she arrives. No more secrets.
