Chapter 10
A New Face
"This stupid thing doesn't work!" I yelled throwing Jacks compass to the ground. Kairi quickly runs over and picks it up.
"Don't be discouraged Sara, maybe it doesn't work while were flying." Kairi said walking over and handing me the compass. "Besides that's the last thing you go from Jack.. you don't want to break it."
"Yeah... it just sucks." I said putting the compass in my pocket.
"So what world should we try next?" Kairi asked
"Hmm... maybe we can check by Radiant Garden and see if Cid can help figure out where they went, maybe even get the compass to work." I said
"Did you say Radiant Garden?" Kairi asked,
"Yeah why?"
"it sounds so... familiar." she said.
"well then let's check it out." I said changing our course for Radiant Garden.
"I hope Sora and Riku are alright.." Kairi said as we exit the Gummy Ship and enter the plaza.
"Sora and Riku are strong, even if they end up in danger we'll be able to get to them before anything happens." I said
"You're right," Kairi said as she looks around and lets out a quick gasp,
"What?" I asked
"I... I know this place..." She said,
"Did Axel bring you here when he took you?" I asked, and she shook her head.
"No, I was here a long time ago..." she said as she spots something and starts running towards a nearby staircase.
"Wait Kairi! I don't know if they've cleared out all the Heartless!" I said running after her only to be stopped by a swarm of Heartless. "Outta my way!" I yelled fighting my way through. I make my way to Hollow Bastion to see Kairi surrounded by heartless. "Hang on!" I yelled pushing my way through to reach her
"Sara..." Kairi said with Keyblade in hand, "There are too many."
"We gotta push through somehow." I said a s we begin fighting. but once we defeated one heartless two more took its place, it reminded me of when Sora and I fought the Hydra in Olympus.
"This isn't getting us anywhere." Kairi said, we were both exhausted at this point.
"We gotta keep trying..." I said
"Sara look!" Kairi said pointing up. I see a star twinkle only to be blinded be something. I open my eyes and all of the heartless are gone. A woman was standing in front of Kairi and me, she was a lot taller than us with short black hair and a small top that got longer in the back. she had on black shorts and two scarves hanging off her belt with the shape of white wings in the design. She held a Blaster Edge with wing shaped blades sticking out of it.
"Are you two alright?" She asked turning towards us showing her dark brown eyes, she was very beautiful.
"Yes thank you." Kairi said
"That's good to hear," she said
"Oh, I haven't introduced myself, I'm Kairi," she said
"And I'm Sara," I said
"It's nice to meet you Kairi and Sara, my name's Rinoa." she said, "It's not safe for you two to be out here." She said,
"Speaking of which, Kairi, why did you run off like that?" I asked,
"I'm ... Not sure... I thought I recognized something." she said,
"Let's not run off anymore, ok?" I said
"Alright." Kairi said
"Well it looks like my work here is done, I gotta get going. Rinoa said
"Wait, will we see you again?" Kairi asked
"I'm not sure, I'm always on the move but I'd like that very much." She said as beautiful white angel wings sprout from her back. She flies off into the sky until we could no longer see her.
"We meet the most interesting people." I said with a laugh, Kairi was still looking around,
"There used to be a garden here," Kairi said walking over to a bare spot near the castle, "I remember now, I used to pick flowers here."
"Wait what?" I said confused,
"I think this is the world I came from..." She said as I give a shocked look.
"Well, Riku did mention you were from another world," I said, "But wait, this world was destroyed and turned into Hollow Bastion... how did you end up on Destiny Islands instead of Traverse Town?" I asked,
"I remember... one day I was picking flowers when I was attacked by these strange creatures," Kairi said
"The Heartless?" I asked but she shook her head,
"They were different, but then a lady came out of nowhere and saved me. She told me that I was special and she said that she put a magic spell on me that if I was ever in danger the spell would take me to those who could protect me." Kairi explained,
"Sora and Riku," I said and she nodded, "What happened to the lady?" I asked,
"I'm not sure, I never saw her again." Kairi said
"Well... that's one mystery solved. Now let's go find Leon and the others to see if they can get Jacks compass to work." I said as we head over to Merlin's house.
"Hello!" I said entering Merlin's house, the only ones there were Leon, Merlin and Cid,
"Hey Sara," Leon said, "Hello Kairi, long time no see."
"Wait you know Kairi?" I said
"Yes, in Sora's final battle she was with us in Traverse Town." He explained,
"Well today is just full of surprises." I said
"So where's the other one?" Cid asked,
"That's what we're trying to find out." Kairi said
"Something happened and we need your help." I said, "We got this compass from a friend to help us find Sora but it isn't working." I said
"Lemme see," Cid said as I hand him the compass.
"So how is it supposed to work?" he asked,
"You think about what you want most and the compass will point you in the right direction. but all it does is spin." I said
"It seems to be working for me." Cid said as Kairi and I hover over him and se the compass pointing in one direction.
"Gimme that!" I said snatching the compass back, I hold it and concentrate but it starts spinning, "Oh C'mon!"
"Let me try." Kairi said as I hand her the compass, it spins out of control for her as well.
"What does this mean?" Leon asked,
"It means that Sora cannot be found." Merlin said
"What does THAT mean?" I asked as Kairi and I start to freak out.
"Calm down, it means he isn't here in our existence. Remember the worlds in-between?" Merlin said trying to calm us down,
"So he's out of our reach?" Kairi asked,
"Maybe not, it may take time but if you travel to more worlds it might hold more answers." he said
"Then I guess we'll be off." I said
"Hang on, I noticed you came from Hollow Bastion, how did you get past all the heartless?" Leon asked
"oh, we had help from this amazing lady." Kairi said
"Who was she?" Cid asked
"Her name is Rinoa, she was so strong." Kairi said as I notice Leon's face go white.
"Uh, Leon? you okay?" I asked
"Which way did she go?" Leon said heading for the door,
"She left, I think she headed to other worlds." I said as Leon quickly turns around and walks up to me and grasps my shoulders,
"Please, if you run into her again. Tell her... I'm still waiting." Leon said
"Okay?" I said confused,
"Thank you, now you better get going." Leon said letting go,
"Alright, well we'll see you all later." I said, "Let's go Kairi," she nods and we wave good bye before heading back to the Gummy Ship
"Do you think Leon is in love with Rinoa?" Kairi asked
"What makes you say that?" I asked
"because when we mentioned Rinoa's name his eyes sparkled like when Riku hears your name." she said as I turn red.
"Let's just go..." I said as she yawns, "You getting tired?" I asked
"Yeah, I don't think we've stopped since we left Port Royal..." Kairi said
"Well then let's get some rest before heading to the next world." I said as we enter the Gummy Ship.
"Sounds good to me." Kairi said as we fly off. I had more questions for Amara, let's just hope she's in a talking mood.
