AN: I AM REALLY VERY SORRY FOR NOT UPDATING FOR THE PAST SEVERAL MONTHS! It's just that I was busy at uni and things in my life were hard. But now, I'm doing great. I have no boy problems anymore and am living the single life. I am also really sorry if my writing's a bit rusty. I will never ever update after several months anymore. I'll try to update every week starting today and might do several uploads this week to make up for the lost time. SO in the mean time, enjoy this chapter! Please review! It would really boost my morale. I'm already a single 17 year old who's an incoming second year engineering student. Yeah I know, I'm a nerd. But as they say, "Embrace the insanity."
Chapter 10
Draco went off to the great hall in a huff. He stomped his feet and plopped down on the bench beside his friends. He took one of every variant of food that was in front of him. Treacle tarts, pies, roast chicken and more. When he was satisfied, a mountain of food was in front of him. His mates were surprised at Draco's manner and the amount of food he has right now. Usually, Draco would only eat a couple of pieces of roast beef, steamed vegetables and a dollop of mashed potatoes. With the food he has right now, he could have fed a clan of Weasleys.
"Blimey! Malfoy are you alright? That sure is a lot of food right now." Crabbe commented as he was about to hunk off a turkey leg.
"What's it to you Crabbe? I can eat what the bloody hell I want." The blonde retorted and started to devour the mountain that was in front of him. Crabbe shrugged off Draco's attitude and just continued on eating. While eating, his eyes would wander off to a certain blonde in the Ravenclaw table. But to his disappointment, the blonde was not there. He tried to look for her in the Gryffindor table but alas, she wasn't there too. Draco focused back on his food but the thought of not seeing her in the great hall kept knocking on his mind.
After he was done with his mountain of food, he stood up, bade goodbye to his friends and walked up inside the castle. Draco kept thinking where Luna was and He walked and walked inside the castle until he reached the seventh floor. There he saw Theodore and Luna walking together into a dim alcove. The blonde followed closely until he was hiding a few feet away in a closet but can hear the conversation clearly.
"Did you cast the disillusionment charm already?" The voice was Theodore's.
"Yes I already did. Now what do you want to talk about Theo?" A feminine voice replied which was Luna's. Theo? Loony calls him Theo? Draco thought to himself as he listened.
"Nothing. It's just that Draco mentioned to me that you kind of talked about me to him."
"I did?" A slight movement was heard with the two.
"Well that's what he told me earlier. Did you really do that? And first off, why were you talking to him?"
"Sort of. I just suggested something about you. We never really talked about you. And to answer your other question, he sat beside me earlier when I was writing a poem with allusion to nargles." The blonde replied to the boy and at this, Draco leaned closer and cupped his ears to listen better, cursing inwardly for not bringing the extendable ears he brought from Fred and George's shop.
"Draco sat beside you? As in Draco Malfoy?" Theodore asked.
"Yeah, Draco Malfoy of your Slytherin house did."
"Well that's weird," Theodore said out loud.
I know, I'm weirded out by it myself too. He thought.
"Maybe there's something going on with him. He's been pretty bonkers these past few weeks. I'm just telling you this. Stay away from him alright Lu? I've known him since we left Ottery St. Catchpole and he's not good news." Theodore warned.
Lu? Theodore calls her Lu? What else don't I know about Theodore? Draco thought. The blonde stepped back a bit and containers of cleaning materials fell down from shelves on top of him. "Oh Merlin's beard."
"What was that?" Theodore quickly said. Draco thought to quickly leave and so he dashed from the closet he was inside of, and into the nearest vacant room he could find. He panted and sat on the floor.
"That was quick. I hope they didn't see me." Draco hoped to himself. After several minutes of waiting, Draco went outside the room to check if anyone was still there and luckily, there was none. He let out a sigh of relief and walked off to the block of wall where the Room of Requirement was. He paced back and forth three times until a door appeared and he went inside. Once he was in, he saw that the room looked like a bedroom from a family's well to do mansion. The midnight blue king sized bed dominated the room with a white cabinet on its left and a couch on its right. Draco walked on more until he saw a form lying in the middle of the bed. He peered at the person lying on the bed and saw the familiar blonde curls.
"What the bloody hell is she doing here?" Draco was shocked. He thought of a place to rest and here he was but then the last person he wanted to see was there. The blonde girl rolled to her side and opened her eyes.
"Oh you're here Draco. Did you come for a rest too?" Luna's lips curved upward as she sat up. Since he was listening to their conversation awhile ago, he never actually saw clearly what Luna wore. The girl took off the blanket and stood up and as Draco looked at her, he was yet to believe that the girl was doing some Imperius curse on him. Luna was wearing a beige dress with sorts of candy wrapper pinned to it and black trainers. Yet with all of this, Draco thought that she was actually looking rather ok. "Hello Draco? What are you doing here?"
Draco snapped out of his thought and replied, "I was until you were here. Clearly I can't rest with someone loony inside the room with me." Luna walked off to where he was and stopped when she was a few feet away from him.
"Oh I'm sorry if I was here. I can leave the room if you want to. Wrackspurts are infesting your mind again." Luna suggested. Draco sized her up and agreed.
"You really should loony."Luna was about to leave when she saw something dangling from Draco's pocket and she beamed.
"Is the dream catcher working Draco? Are you having good dreams?"
"The what is doing what?"
"The dream catcher. The one I gave you when we were talking before and the one that's dangling in your pocket right now." Luna pointed at the boy's pocket to which Draco was surprised. He forgot that he always brought that thing with him and quickly took it and threw it on the floor.
"Oh that thing? I was about to throw it in the trash. I just forgot to do it. Thank you for reminding me."
"Oh…" Luna frowned for a fraction of a second but quickly smiled again. "Then I'll just take it back. I don't want anything I made to be thrown away." Luna was about to pick it up until Draco snatched it before her.
"No don't! I'm just going to give it Blaise. He likes weird things." Draco said with a hint of annoyance with it. At that, Luna's smile became wider and she clasped her fingers and swung it in front of her.
"Do suggest him to wear it as a necklace because that's what the long looped string's for. It works better when he will do that and tell him to believe even if it's not easy or what he's used to. The things we've known for a while tend to change and fail us. But then, the new things we learned soon tend to surprise us." Luna advised the blonde boy and grinned.
"Yeah I will. Whatever you say. You can leave now Lovegood."
"Oh right. Farewell Draco. Don't forget to mention it to Blaise!" The blonde girl skipped to the door, opened it and left.
"It's Zabini for you Lovegood!" Draco half-shouted to the door and walked to the bed and plopped down. He looked at the dream catcher in his hand and wore it, hiding it beneath his clothes. He then laid in the plush bed and closed his eyes.
"I hope she's right this time."
