Chapter Ten
Fury and Amity Park
It was an interesting thing to watch, the video that he had captured from one of Stark's security cameras during the battle of New York. He had not known about the boy- a shock in and of itself- but he had always known the Fenton parents.
He had worked with them in the past.
Jack Fenton, though foolish and naïve, was brilliant in theories and formulas that could recreate the ultimate Super Soldier formula. And from the files and records that he had on it, he had almost succeeded on doing just that but then had changed direction. He believed cybernetics would be the answer.
Maddie Fenton was a strong woman with a brilliant mind. She wasn't as accomplished in theories and formulas as her husband but she was accomplished in the actual tests and building of those theories and formulas. She could build anything make it ten times better than what people had made it before.
Together the Fentons had made a brilliant team in the Shield R&D section. They had created most of the weapons in the armory and several of the antidotes to known poisons that had been used against agents in the past.
He had known the couple and so it was a surprise that not only did they have two children but that Maddie was actually related to Natasha Romanoff through a distant relation. It was obvious that there were things that he did not even have a notion of.
Nick Fury had known that he was human but this lack of information was telling him exactly how human he truly was at this point in time.
Though this video was showing that he could easily regain the situation back to where he wanted it at, especially after he had dug up the information on the Fentons' experiments that he had requested be brought up to his office after watching this video. He had also raided the building at Amity Park of all of their research after they had gone into civilian life He had learned a lot about what the two had been up to after leaving SHIELD and now he might be able to replicate it.
And maybe, just maybe he might get another Avenger.
"It's time to go and talk to Stark and his son." Fury said as he walked out of his office to take a plane to go see one Tony Stark and Danny Stark.
Danny Phantom
"So wait…your what?" Danny asked as he stared at the red head in front of him in disbelief. He had known Natalie…Natasha since middle school and to find out what she had just said after so long was very world shattering and falling to shards on the ground.
Natasha smiled nervously as she crossed her ankles and settled her hands onto her lap. "I know this is hard to take in Danny, I do, trust me. When I found out that I still had family alive and well…I wanted to meet them…except I got scared." She explained with a strong voice. She wasn't going to back down from this again, not when she could lose Danny at any time. She wasn't willing to lose family again without letting them know about their relationship. She just wouldn't be able to handle it if something like that happened again.
"You're…what…my aunt then?" Danny questioned unsurely as he looked at the woman in confusion, running a hand down his face as he tried to process the information.
Natasha nodded her head. "Distantly related but yes, you can think of me as your aunt if you like." She said as she leaned back into the couch that she was sat on. "I know that I hid this from you and your family but I thought I would have time to come forward with this, I didn't think that they would be gone in a few years after I had found out." She said with a stoic face.
Danny nodded his head in understanding at this as he remembered everything he had learned about her within the last few days of the chaos that his newest family had gotten into. "Yeah, I can see how explaining to your family that you're a SHIELD agent Assassin could be hard to do." He snorted at the end as he threw himself back against the couch and covered his eyes with the palm of his hands. "Gah! Why is everything so complicated?" He questioned out loud.
Natasha gave a small smile at that before sighing. "I hope that we can become closer Danny, but if you like I can give you time to let the information sink in." She said calmly as possible, but hoping that the boy would say otherwise, that they could still talk as they did when he was in middle school and then again over the years until he had disappeared after the explosion. She loved Danny as the nephew that he was and she wanted nothing bad happen to him.
Danny sighed deeply but didn't move from his position on the couch in the living room. He had to make the choice that he knew was going to hurt her but he needed the time to adjust to something that hurt and could very well impact his life in a way that could make that hurt grow. "I know you want me to so no to the time and to ask you all about yourself and get to know you better…but I need the space and time."
Natasha nodded her head in understanding and stood up from her seat. "I am sorry Danny that I didn't tell your mother when I had the chance. I wish I had." She sighed before continuing. "Tony has my number when you're ready to talk." With that that Black Widow walked out of the under construction living room of the soon to be Avengers Tower.
"Oh man, what am I supposed to do?" Danny questioned out loud as he let his hands fall to the side but he continued to look up at the ceiling in confusion.
"You can start by telling me why Nick Fury has come to see you." Tony said as he walked into the living room with a frown on his face and a Master Spy right behind him.
"Because I hacked into his computer systems and found out that he had been using the tesseract to build galactic weapons to battle the aliens that intend to invade the earth and take it over." Danny replied with a raised brow as he tilted his body further over the couch so he was staring at the two upside down. "Oh wait…that was you Tony, my bad."
Tony just smirked at the boy before turning back to Fury with that same smirk. "See, he's got nothing to do with whatever bug crawled up your ass." Tony said arrogantly as always. "So if you don't mind just leaving my house and my sons alone, I'll be perfectly happy."
"Then I can't do that then can I?" Fury said as he walked over to the upside down boy and pulled out a little device that made a holographic screen appear. "We all know a happy Stark leads to a dangerous and reckless Stark." Furry announced as the video played and Danny's eyes widened at what he saw, forcing him to roll his body and use the couch as leverage so that he was staring at Fury right side up. "I believe we have words to have."
Danny gulped before nodding his head. "Tony, do you mind leaving me and the Master Spy alone." He requested as his eyes flashed green in his growing anger.
Tony frowned at that and shook his head. "No, I don't think I will. Whatever he just showed you has you riled up and I don't like the fact that Fury is able to do that Casper. I'm staying." He announced just before he yelped in terror as he turned intangible and fell through the floor.
"The security cameras have been shut off and Jarvis blocked out of this room. So talk." Danny said as he glared at Fury in his anger before glancing back at the video in the man's hand.
He couldn't believe that the man had a camera during the Chitauri attack but at the same time he wasn't surprised. "I want to know how long you've known about this." Fury said as he replayed the video.
It showed Danny in his ghost form surrounded by what little energy that hadn't been blasted away by Danielle. Danny could tell it was just before he squashed the energy from the scepter Loki had. And then it was right there, the flash of when he blasted the last bit of his energy from him, blasting Vlad away from him simultaneously. Just as he had done that, if one looked closely enough, you could see lines of blue running over his skin.
"I want to know how much you know before I say anything." Danny said right back at Fury as he looked up at the man with glowing green eyes.
"I know all of it. I know what they did to your sister and what they did to you." Fury stated as he changed the screen to files and screenshots of papers and computer information that had been downloaded from the computers at the Fentons'. "What I want to know is how much you know."
Danny glowered at the screen and knew that even if he snatched it away that this wasn't the only copy that the Spy had. "I know all of it as well." Danny stated as he glared up at the man. "What are you going to do with this information?" Danny questioned.
Fury smirked down at the boy as he pulled the screen back and placed it into his pocket. "This could be the solution to the missing Super Soldier Serum that was created back in the 1940's This could even completely replace it."
Danny growled at that as he stood up and transformed right in front of Fury. Though no one had noticed it during the battle of New York, one could tell that Danny Phantom had fallen hard. His suit was torn all over and one could see all of his ribs and hip bones, his hair was messy, his skin was almost snow white, and his cheeks sunken in. Just like Danny Fenton looked when he was human. "I won't let you do that." Danny growled as he walked around the couch to stand right in front of Fury.
"Oh, and how do you plan on stopping me if I plan on using what I found?" Fury questioned as he looked down into the teen's glowing emerald eyes. "You couldn't possibly have the power to even touch me."
Danny smirked cruelly at that before he summoned up power into one of his fist and raised it into Fury's face before allowing the energy to blast outwards. Fury blinked in confusion as he found himself on his back looking up at the ceiling before Danny appeared into his line of sight. "That is just a little of what I could really do. If I piled my power onto itself over and over and over again and then released it…I could destroy New York entirely. Destroying your little Helicarrier wouldn't be a problem." The halfa teen explained as calmly as he could though he was shaking inside in terror at what he was doing.
Fury raised a brow at that before nodding his head and standing up, Danny following the example and he changed back into a human as well, still glaring. "I won't use the information I dug out of your parents' research, but I have a request of you to make in return." The Spy said as he kept eye contact with the boy in front of him.
Danny's glare kept strong as he watched Fury with caution. He knew what sort of damage that information could do if it was put into practice and used on a daily basis. "I want everything you found destroyed and deleted. All of the backup copies and their backup copies and so on. I want none of it left whatsoever if I do as you want." Danny said as he glared at the man.
Fury's smirk widen as he nodded his head. "Agreed. Now what I want you to join the Avengers."
Danny Phantom
"Danny! Tony! I'm glad you could make it!" Tucker hollered from where he stood in front of the Fentons' house. "What's taken you guys so long, you were supposed to be here five hours ago?" He questioned as he stared at the two in confusion.
"Yeah well, if casper here hadn't of sent me plummeting through my own tower for twenty floors before he let me stop then we would have been here sooner." Tony fumed as he glared at Danny, who just ignored him entirely.
Tucker blinked in confusion before shrugging, knowing he would get the story from Danny later. "Well anyways, Valerie, Dani, and Vlad have all returned to Vlad's mansion here in Amity Park to take care of their own things. Vlad said we can stay with them if we want as well." He explained quickly.
Danny nodded his head while Tony continued to fume next to him. "Have you been to your own house yet Tucker?" Danny questioned as he looked at his brother.
Tucker shook his head. "No, I thought I'd help you go over what's in here. I know how your parents were such pack rats." The glasses wearing boy said.
Danny smiled at the boy but shook his head as he flashed his eyes green. "No thanks Tuck, you go ahead and take Tony, I've got all the help I need. I'll come over once I'm done here." Danny explained.
Tucker looked hesitant for a moment before nodding his head in understanding. "Okay, I'll see you later bro. Come on Tony, let's go."
Tony looked just as hesitant as well as he looked at the halfa teen in front of him. "Are you sure, we can stay and help you do this place and then go over to Tucker's to do that one as well." Tony said as he looked over the teen boy. He was especially worried now after the visit from Fury. He didn't know what the two had talked about but he didn't think he would like it if he found out.
Danny just nodded his head at Tony as he opened the front door to the building that had been his home for years. "Yeah Tony, I can handle this on my own. I'll meet up with you guys after a bit." With that Danny disappeared into the house and closing the door in the other's faces.
Once he was alone in the house and that Tucker and Tony had actually left, Danny made his way upstairs and went first into his old room. The posters of bands and astronomy were still up, as were the model rockets he had hung up long ago. The carpet was still soft against his bare feet, as if he had never left. Everything was covered in dust though and that told Danny that the Guys in White hadn't actually been in the house, which was a miracle in itself.
Danny sighed as he walked over to his bed and then turned his hand intangible and began to pull out items that he had hidden in the wall. One being the Ecto-Dejecto his father had made a long time ago and then the extra thermoses that he kept just in case. There were also a binder he had kept that had important information on all of his parents' experiments. He'd have to keep this after what he was about to do.
He grabbed the items he wanted most from his room and put them in a box that he had in his closet that had been full of old clothes mean to go to the needy. From there he went into his sister's room where he gathered the scrap book full of Danny Phantom articles and pictures, Bear Bert and his sisters pink blanket. Then he went into his parents' room where he grabbed his mother's goggles that he hung around his neck instantly, and then his father's embroidery kit.
Danny smiled at the items he had gathered as he walked down the stairs and back into the living room where he found the pictures of his family settled on the bookshelves. The one of him and his family in front of the Fenton house and then the one of Tucker, him, and Sam in front of the house. He quickly threw them into his box as well before taking the box outside and setting it on the steps and then heading back in.
He made his way down into the basement where he stared at the swirling green portal. "So it comes down to this huh?" Danny asked aloud as he came to a stop directly in front of the portal.
"In many ways than just one." A voice spoke beside him, causing Danny to whip his head around to see who it was. "Calm yourself Danny Phantom, it is only I, Clockwork."
Danny sighed in relief as he stared up at his ghostly guardian, the feel of a time medallion was familiar and much welcomed after all of the pain he had been in the last half a year. "It's been a while Clockwork, I didn't expect to see you anytime soon." Danny replied as he turned to looked back at the portal.
"I have had no reason to interfere in the timeline and so I have left it be." Clockwork informed as he switched to his child form.
"That's a lie." Danny said as he glanced at the child Clockwork with a knowing look. "The Guys in White were waiting for a chance to get at my parents research and technology, but it doesn't even look like they've been here…I think you might be behind that."
Clockwork chuckled at that and nodded his head. "It is true, I've hidden this house from their eyes so that they could no enter into this building. There are things in here that could cause much chaos if anyone else got to it." The Master of Time admitted as he turned towards all the boxes and computers that were lining the counters and then the medical equipment that the Fenton Parents had kept to look their children over with when sick. "I would have to interfere severely more than I did now."
Danny nodded his head in understanding as he walked towards the portal and hit the shutdown sequence to it. It took a minute to put all of the code in but when he did the entire portal shut down completely for the first time since he had turned it on. "Don't worry then, I don't intend for anything to survive what I'm about to do to this place." Danny assured as his eyes began to glow emerald once more.
Clockwork smiled as he transformed into an adult. He then flew over to a box that was labeled, 'KIDS' and picked it up. "Do not destroy this box Danny. You will want to keep this where you can get to." He explained as he held onto the box. "I shall take this box and the one you have upstairs to the Avengers Tower. That way you need not worry about them." Clockwork offered.
Danny looked at the Master of Time with surprise written all over his face. "What? But why would you do that? I thought you weren't allowed to interfere?" He questioned to his mentor with furrowed brows and a frown on his face.
Clockwork sighed as he looked at the child he had taken as his own charge, to watch over and make sure he never turned into the beast that lurked within his own domain. "I am not interfering with anything important in the timeline Danny…and I at least owe you this for all that has happened. Time in." With that Clockwork disappeared before Danny could say a word.
The Time medallion was left though, a comfort that Danny knew was a rare gift from his mentor in a situation that had left Danny unbalanced. Danny sighed before shaking his head. "You couldn't interfere in a timeline that wasn't in danger Clockwork, I don't blame you for the death of my family. There's only so much a person or ghost can do at any time." He said to the room, knowing that Clockwork would see and know he was talking to him.
With that said and done Danny turned to the laboratory and transformed into his ghost form, ignoring the tinge of pain he felt from his core. He was still trying to recover from using his powers so much when he fought in the New York City battle. He was definitely going to hurt after this as well. "Better get to work." Danny said as he gathered energy into his hands and began blasting everything in the room.
He wasn't going to leave anything behind intact…not even the building.
Avengers
Tony blinked in confusion as he heard the loud echoing BOOM that tore through the village. "What was that?" Tony questioned as he stood up from where he was going through several of the kitchen drawers and pulling out any important silverware that he was planning on keeping a hold of until Tucker had his own place…if the boy ever left the tower that is.
Tucker responded as he came down the stairs with his own box if items from a room upstairs. "That would be Danny taking care of everything at the Fenton house. I figured the reason why he didn't want us there was because he wasn't going to leave anything intact. By the time you get there to see the entire place will be nothing but a pool of molten goo." The boy explained as he set the box down next to all the other boxes that he had packed. There was mostly photo albums and quilts that his mother had made or files that his father had kept on finances.
"Why would he destroy the Fenton place though? Isn't that his old home where he and his family lived? Why would he destroy the memories there?" Tony questioned as he walked over to a window to see another burst of green energy light up the sky. The strange thing about it though was that no one left their houses, no lights turned no, and no sirens sounded throughout the entire light show. Was this so common that people here didn't even respond to it anymore.
Tucker crossed his arms and tilted his head to the side as he thought about how to explain this to Tony so that he would understand. "His parents were scientists of sorts." Tucker decided on. "They created formulas and inventions and theories that if it got into the wrong hands…well…it could end really badly not just for Danny but for everyone else as well. Danny won't want that to happen so he'll just destroy everything, even the building itself will be destroyed." Tucker explained calmly as he turned to head back upstairs to continue collecting items that would most likely be put into storage until he got his own place when he was older.
Tony nodded his head at the explanation as he continued to watch the lights for a while longer before he returned to backing the silverware and china that was in a cabinet. "When do you think he'll be done with that then?" Tony questioned as Tucker came down with more boxes.
The Techno Geek set the box down and pushed his glasses up his nose before he answered. "I don't know. Depends on how much miss placed aggression he has in him." The teen shrugged at Tony's raised brow before continuing. "He could finish it in ten minutes or prolong it for several hours. Just depends I guess."
Tony nodded his head again and the two fell into silence as they continued to pack away things Tucker wanted now and things that Tony felt the boy would want later in life. It would be a long night for every one of the Stark family in Amity Park.
Danny Phantom
"Sorry it took so long." Danny said as he met up with Tony and Tucker as the moving man put boxes into the moving truck. The blue eyed teen was covered in sweat, soot and other things that neither Tony nor Tucker wanted to ask about. "The house was more reinforced than I first thought. I literally at to melt it all down into lava before I was satisfied." Danny admitted with a sheepish grin.
Tony just waved it off as he looked the boy over, deciding that they would need to hit a restaurant to get both boys some food. They were still recovering from their time on the streets after all. "Don't worry about it, got everything you needed done?" He questioned curiously.
Danny nodded his head before looking at the moving truck. "So I guess you had more things to take than I did." Danny said as he turned to Tucker who nodded his head.
"Yeah, we had a lot of family heirlooms in my family. From the silverware to the china to the jewels, I have a small fortune in those boxes there. Not to mention Tony said he'll open an account for me and put the money made off of the house when it's sold into it." Tucker explained as he looked his friend over and took in the fact that his friend's hands were empty of anything. "I'm guessing there wasn't anything that important at your house that you wanted then?"
Danny shrugged his shoulders. "Any family heirlooms that my parents might have had were sold to pay rent and the silverware was as well. Any important china was destroyed through the year anything worth any money was also sold for rent and bills. I got what I wanted and had it sent back to the tower already so no worries there." Danny informed as he looked back at Tony. "Besides, the best legacy they left me with was everything that they taught me, no matter what it was they taught." He stated with a lopsided smile. "And now…I get to learn even more and take their legacy further and make it my own."
Tony smiled at the boy and ruffled his hair. "I knew you were smart Casper, just didn't realize how smart you actually were till now."
Danny just smiled at the man as he turned back to the street of Amity Park in the early morning. "Can we come back here…you know…just to visit?" Danny questioned as he glanced at his adoptive father. Tucker looked over as well, wanting to know as well.
Tony smiled gently at the two and nodded his head. "Of course. You can visit this place whenever you want Danny, Tucker. I know this was your first home and I'll never take that away from you." Tony told them. "But know that the tower will always be open to you as a home as well."
Tucker nodded his head with a smile as well. "Yeah, besides I wouldn't wanna give up all the tech that you have there anyways." He admitted with a smirk.
Tony squawked at that as he playfully swatted at Tucker. "I see how it is! Using me to get what you want! You little Techno Geek! I should have known!" Tony continued to exclaim as he got a laughing Tucker in a noogie hold and rubbed furiously at the glasses wearing boy.
Danny just laughed at the sight as he realized that he truly did have a chance to have a family again. Even if it was made up of mismatched superheroes called the Avengers.
Avengers
