Warning: Kinda Dark, don't want to trigger anyone by mentioning depression, especially since I know what depression feels like but it's how the chapter was made to feel to get a point across, that even those who appear strong have their breaking points.
It wasn't often she would get scared. But lately she had been having more and more almost transparent fading episodes. The only thing that really kept her from fading, besides her twin was the fact that everyday whenever she looked into a mirror to get dressed she saw those tattoos on her body, silently mocking her that she did have soulmates out there. People she had yet to meet and possibly may never meet at the rate she was declining with her fading episodes. It scared her so much that she would joke to herself sometimes that she was almost like Janus the god of two faces and different paths with the mask she put on to hide what she was really feeling. She didn't want to burden anyone so she kept it to herself. All that pain inside that she wouldn't let go was just silently festering, waiting for the day it could just erupt like a volcano and possibly lead to such a catastrophic event it would shake many to their cores.
So yes she kept it to herself and didn't tell anyone, she didn't want them to get hurt in the aftermath. But really she wished someone would notice the subtle hints she sent their way. She once asked her friends; Has Everyone Licked Poptarts? Something they seemingly brushed off as just another silly thing she said to keep them in a great mood. Sometimes she wasn't sure what to do with herself, but she trudged on, if only to minusculy be a part of her siblings lives by watching from afar.
It was surely a surprise when she kept up to date on the happenings at Camp Half- Blood and learned that apparently Apollo had been turned into a human and forced to serve a demigod and complete whatever tasks that demigod wanted him to complete. It was also a surprise when she learned that there was another threat rising with the missing oracles and how the certainly unexpected twist of that demigod being the daughter to the bad guy and leading Apollo on as being a demigod who didn't know anything about the Greek World. And the giant statue of Nero and how it attacked camp half-blood was not something she saw coming either. Who knows maybe it would be a great starting point for some of the gods and goddesses to start getting closer to their children and forgiving those who was wrongly casted out.
Indeed it was a lot for her to take in and think about. Maybe she would take up some pottery classes and just roaming about like her mother has been doing for millenniums.
Another thing she never told anyone about was how one of the reasons she was so uneasy was that a war bigger then that of those opposing her nephew would be coming to her doorstep soon. She could feel it deep in her bones that the threat coming was more ancient then any deity ever known in Greek times. She had proof that the being was ancient it had been able to traverse throughout different domains of different God's and goddesses and cause mayhem. She had lost a couple of drakons that were native to her domain a major loss to the way of life. It would take some time for the balance of life to be restored in her kingdom.
A sharp pain interrupted her slight musings. It was worse then before. A burning overtook her whole body. She tried to hold in the screams but it was worse then the time she cried as her siblings opposed their father and their mother never coming back. Her body started to glow a soft orange that turned brighter that each minute passed. She started to levitate off her throne, the palace started to shake the waters temperature started to rise in heat from the coldness it was always at. The screams escaped her mouth, the ripples in the water traveling away from her like a Sonic blast. Everything and everyone in her kingdom tried to withstand the pain she was emitting from where she was levitating, but the pain she radiated brought them to their knees or weighed them down in place. With one final heart-wrenching, soul chilling scream, a fiery inferno erupted out of her mouth and eyes causing her to arch upwards as the fiery magma blast traveled thousands of miles out of her domain and out through her brothers domain and up towards the surface of the sea, creating a fiery breathtaking explosion that could even be seen from the sky. To mortals it would appear as if a deep underwater volcano erupted and it would show on the surface of the sea. But to those who knew better they were sure that someone, somewhere had caused that to happen, why... they would not know.
~On Olympus~
They all felt the explosion the mortals were calling a off the charts underwater volcano eruption. Some of the gods looked towards Poseidon as if he was the cause of such raw power being expelled from the depths of the sea. But with a slight shrug and frown from him they concluded that it wasn't him and probably just a freak accident that actually did happen naturally. Those who were old enough actually recognized the energy signature and were surprised to know that Ceto was still alive and hadn't faded just yet and that maybe if they put everything behind they could actually have a family or a friend back again. They just weren't sure exactly why she had released such a raw amount of power. Nor would they be able to understand that it wasn't a large explosion of raw power she had let out, that had been witnessed by gods and mortals alike but in reality a explosion of such high pain that it would make even the fields of punishment pale in comparison.
•••Ceto's Domain•••
After she had let the pain out she had collapsed. It was nothing new to her guards, but it certainly did scare them a bit especially since a outburst like this had never breached the outsides of her domain. It was becoming clearer to those who she actually trusted that it wasn't just a quick and painless fade like so many claimed. In reality it was a torture filled fading that would wrack ones body for however long it would take for them to finally give up and fade from reality and leave the world completely. There was only a couple rare cases where one could reverse the damage done from fading. But it was so rare that many forgot it could be done in the first place.
As Ceto floated back down from where she had unconsciously levitated, a figure unknown to anyone who didn't belong to her kingdom and would be looking in on the scene, gently gathered her into their arms and muttered soft, sweet reassurances that everything would get better, she would just have to hang on through the pain and then everything would slowly start to get better. The figure gently placed Ceto into her bed and pulled the covers over her before leaving a kiss on her forehead and flashing away.
What one may not have noticed if they had been there, but her sacred drakon would is that the figure gave off a slightly golden hue before they flashed away. It was not the first time the figure had helped after episodes like this and probably wouldn't be the last time either. It left a lot for the intelligent drakon to mull over as he curled around the base of his master's bed. Especially since many believed that the figure was gone, and never to return to life.
