Chapter 8: Seprations
Ever sense they first came to the old ruin that use to a kingdom. Akira and her friends haven't encounter any residents. It was kinda awkward that Akira and her friend haven't spoke each other when they found Kitigin. The only thing to keep them safe are each has Kitigin hiding in her hood of her jacket and her hands was inside the pockets of her cargo pants to keep it warm. Whil fallowing Robin and Lucy(Ren was taking a nap on her shoulder) from be hide. The silver munchkin know as Kitigin tap her paw on Akira's back shoulder. She spun her head and look Kitigin with her dark blue eyes. The small, kitten have a very cute smile on her face.
"Thank you," She said, thanks to Akira.
"For what?" Akira question the little feline that she found. The poor thing have no memory but her own name. It kinda strange that Kitigin doesn't recognize this place at all.
"For letting me be your friend!" Kitigin said, happily. Akira couldn't help it but grin and scratch the top of Kitigin's head that made her purr loudly.
"You are a strange little kitty, aren't you?"
"Maybe but I wish I have my memory." She let out a sad sigh.
"Don't worry about that, Kitigin. I promise I'll find way to bring back your memories." The young warrior promise to Kitigin.
"You well?" Kitigin brighten up when she heard Akira made a promise.
"Of course," Akira reassure the small feline. That made Kitigin to hop out from the hood of Akira's hoodie jacket and on to her shoulder. Kitigin nuzzle on Akira's cheek as a sign of affection.
"You're the best Akira!Beast! Best! Beasties!" Kitigin exclaim, happily and purr.
"Hey, cut it out! Your tiny whisker is ticklish!" Akira giggle when she feeling Kitigin's whisker tickling her cheek.
They didn't know that Lucy just saw the whole scene. That small scene made Lucy feel happy from the inside and out; seeing Kitigin and Akira are like her and Ren when they first meant. 'It look like they're friend already. Just like me and Ren.' Lucy thought and how much they reminded her and was like déjà vu, both of them found a abandon feline on the streets and created a bond. The thought of it made Lucy smile a bit. She look at Ren who was sleeping on her shoulder.
"Damn it!" Lucy heard Robin curse next to her. When she look at the only male(human that is) was dialing a phone number then try to listen but made a strange beeping sound. Robin growl angrily and begin to shake his cell phone.
"Um, Robin?" Lucy got Robin attention."Why are you doing?"
Robin let out a deep sigh." Im trying to make a call that we know but there is no signal." He was trying to call for help, but he can get any phone signal. It was impossible to get help.
"Well at least you try." Lucy place her hand on his shoulder for comfort. For a moment, Robin gasp sharply when he felt Lucy's gentle touch. His cheek slightly brighten but luckily it wasn't noticeable.
"Hehhe... Thanks," Robin laugh nervously and rub the back of his neck. Also looking away from Lucy. 'Hope Akira didn't see that' he thought nervously, knowing Akira would sometime tease him about his little "problem" and thankfully that the little-annoying-kittypet know as Ren was asleep.
As they continue walking down the streets that use to be a neighborhood. The front lawn are unkept and foreign objects, mostly broken pieces from house parts are scatter across the ground. It was deadly quiet until Akira step on the shards of glasses; both Robin and Lucy flinch when they heard the crack sound. Both of them glare at Akira for nearly giving them a panic attack.
"Opps," Akira shrug and have a embarrassing smile.
"Watch your step next time." Lucy said, seriously. As she place her hands on her hips.
After the false alarm, the three warriors found themselves lost at strange area that seem use to be place to buy items. The interesting part of this place, there was a large castle in the distant. The three warriors observe the strange stood tall from all the rest of the town. Blazing blue fire spew out from the castle's, large bramble cover the entire castle, and wate rising upward.
Robin let out a low whistle."Whoa, this castle look creepy."
"Scare already, birdbrain-Nya." A familiar voice crept with mischievous. It was Ren who just woken up from his nap. Ren saw Robin glaring with dagger to him.
"Oh hell no! I'm not afraid of anything." Robin argue.
Lucy let out a sigh and cover her face with her hands. Couldn't those two guys just get along?She doesn't know why her two, male friends always argues and fight with each other.
Akira was use to this kind of stuff, it's like a everyday event that she got bored and use to it. Kitigin ask Akira why are Robin and Ren are being mean to each other. She just answer to that question is "They're just boys who care to much." Kitigin didn't understand what that mean but Akira told the munchkin that she shouldn't be worry about it and let men(that meant half-cat too) to solve their own problems by insulting each other.
While that happening, Akira and Kitigin are the only ones who are staring at the castle. Akira decide to take few step forward to get better close of the castle; she can see large amount water going up and dark clouds circle around the castle. Both the female warrior and small munchkin feel strange dark-presence from the castle. How can it be still be standing while rest are soon-to-be crumble into rubble?
I wonder who or what could've done to this place.Akira thought sadly. She begin to imagine this place use to be a bright kingdom that fallen into dark times. That when it struck her...literally Akira felt her mind struck by a dark entity.
Akira begin to hold her head when she feel pressure was building up from the inside of her head. Her sight begin to darken if she was going blind and having trouble with breathing. Kitigin notice something wrong with the young, warrior she-called friend.
"Are you okay?" Kitigin ask Akira but the brown-haired warrior did not answer her question. The silver cat decide to call her new friends."Robin, Lucy, Ren!" She cry all three of Akira's friends.
"What is it-" Lucy was about to same something until she saw Akira was acting strange.
"Um, Akira? You don't look so good." Robin notice.
Ren have a worry look written on his face. Something wrong with Akira imdeed, his unique hearing catch the sounds of Akira's breathing sounded different, if sounded like labor breath. He can tell it because sounded painful.
The voices of her dearest friends could not reach Akira. Her mind was clouded with negative-feeling and also painful headache that stir inside her mind...
She imagine a kingdom just got hit by a dark storm, the residents thought it would just gotta pour rain...but they are mistaken. Shadows rise from the grounds and began to attack the innocents townfolks. Akira watch the horrific images of people being separated from their loves ones and friends. There was so much destruction and Akira begin to realize she encounter these shadows before.
The monsters attack them back at the guild. The female warrior fell down to her knees(nearly causing Kitigin to fall off from the hood), she grit her teeth and her hands clutch onto her skull.
"What...is...happening to me?" Akira said between her painful breath. That when she couldn't take it anymore; Akira let our painful scream that disturbs the silence and echo broke the silence. The pain and the dark images drift away from her mind. She gasp in relief for some reason and look back to her friend. What she saw was Robin, Lucy and Ren look utterly shock while Kitigin was worry.
When they about to make a move or speak. Dark figures jump out from the grounds that made Akira and her friends freeze in fears. The dark figures are the ones they (except Kitigin who wasn't with them from the beginning) encounter back at the guild and attack them. Some of the "shadows" have seen before but some look bizarres. There one really big and round ones, bats with red hooks, and flying kettle with yellow top and eyes. The one things they have in common was a symbol was black and red heart with a cross on each one.
"Not them again!" Robin growl, angrily.
The warriors are out number by the large horde of "Shadows". They are defenseless, even though Akira, Robin, Lucy and Ren are fighters but still have no chance to fight the masses horde. When Akira got up from the ground and try get through the horde but it block her only way to reach her friends.
The large one attempt to body slam Lucy but Robin manage pull his orange-haired friend away from danger. Akira watch the emblems types of Shadows try aottack Robin, Lucy and Ren. While dodging the attack by the pure black ones. "Dammit! I have to do something or we all dead" Akira try think of a plan to save her friends. But the only thing came up to mind... She have to lead the heartless away. Her midnight blue catch sight of a rock on the ground, she quickly pick it up and throw it the big one, it made it mad and Akira know it well hunt her.
"I'll handle these guys, just go!" Akira warn her friends. She then hear a small gasp was released by Lucy.
"Have you lost your mind?!" Lucy didn't want to run off with out her best friend."There no other way. You guys need to get out here and I'll lead them away. Don't worry about me, I'll be fine, I promise." Akira made a promise to her friends. Her eyes then focus on Robin who was already Lucy's arm.
"Okay, you better come back in one piece." Robin fallow Akira's order. He grab Lucy by the arm and drag her away from the horde of monsters.
The shadows begin to chase down Akira and Kitigin away from their friends. She led them a different direction to the castle. Akira look back to her friends one last time before setting off to lead the monsters away. Even though there was some stay to hunt down Robin, Ren and Lucy into a different direction but at least they can handle a few on their own...
Akira leading the monster away from her only friends she has. Is for the best, she doesn't want her friends to suffer. As she kept running, Akira got closer to the castle. It was much bigger then the Guild back at home. The new area was like a canyon terrain fill with water that separate from town. Akira stop for a moment and hide in a small, rock tunnel. The young girl was trying to catch some air and feel her heart is pounding fast like a drum.
Then she felt something soft touch on the back of her neck. Akira flinch a bit and spun her head to see it was Kitigin who with her. Her dark blue eyes widen a bit because she nearly forgot she have Kitigin with her.
"Did we lose them?" Kitigin ask the young warrior.
Akira look to her left and the right then spotted the monsters again. She quietly curse and look back at the oversize kitten on her shoulder.
"Hold on tight, Kitigin. I going run for it." Akira inform Kitigin.
Kitigin tighten her grip on Akira's shoulder when she sprint out from the opposite directions. But the small ones appear out nowhere forcing Akira to change direction infested area. She mange to jump over them and ran down on a narrow path beside a large river current that lead to the castle and the rising water. The monsters are fallowing Akira's trail and doesn't show any sign of stoping.
'Why are they still after me?' Akira ask in her thought. As she kept running for her lives. She step on a weak ground that crumble beneath her foot. She didn't reacted in time and so both Akira and Kitigin scream as they fell into the water. The monster didn't went after them, they just turn into dark mist and disappear.
The water current was dragging Akira and Kitigin where the water rises. There was rock formation that reach to land if only Akira was able fight the water current. The current was to strong and having trouble to keep her head up to get some air but the water bringing her down.
Her body was getting to tire to fight the current; Akira begin sink to the bottom of the gorge. She was too tire to swim back up to get some air. Then she saw Kitigin try to pull her out even she was to small to do it. Akira try to gesture Akira to get out water and let her drown. She doesn't want her new friend to suffer but Kitigin was doing her best to help Akira to swim up to get some air before she drown.
The remaining air bubbles escape from Akira's mouth, her vision begin to darken and feel her body growing limp. She saw Kitigin was pulling Akira's shirt like she was trying to pull her. If only she can speak underwater, Akira would tell Kitigin to save herself. She going to die as well Kitigin because it was her fault! This wasn't fair, she promise her friends she going to fine them. She would never see her friends, her home, or even get to fulfill her dreams that she share with her friends and see Terra ever again.
As her vision begin to darken, the last thing she saw was a large splash and a silver,yellow-blurred coming toward. Akira couldn't tell who or what is it when she can no long see but feel another hand grab her.
