Chapter 10 – Isn't Someone Missing?
How the hell did he get himself into this?
"OW!" Ronon growled as one bantos rod connected with his right forearm and the other got his left bicep. "You two are blindfolded and you are still hitting me more than I am hitting you and I have no eye covering."
Teyla smirked. "Yes well, you are the one who challenged Nevaeh and I; so it is your own fault."
Nev chortled. "C'mon Ronon, don't be a big warrior baby." She chuckled hard as a growl echoed through the gym.
The swishing of the two sets of bantos rods with the clacking sounds of Ronon's wooden sword filled the air as he defended the onslaught from his two female team members.
Ronon growled as a one bantos rod smacked against his right eyebrow as another bantos hit across his shoulder blades. "Damn it! What the hell you two? I feel like you are being overly aggressive for some reason."
"Oh you think dreadlock boy?" Nev scoffed out in a snarky tone.
"What the hell did I do?" Ronon asked as his eyebrows drew together. He was extremely confused. On Sateda when someone had an issue with you they just walked up and said something and you fixed your problems.
Teyla pulled her blindfold off. "I think Nev is referring to the way you have handled the Olivia situation."
"What situation? There is no situation." Ronon gruffed out.
"Precisely. You had the perfect situation and time to tell Olivia exactly how you felt and you ran away from her." Nev snarled as she yanked her blindfold off as well.
Ronon narrowed his eyes at Nev and Teyla both. "What would you have me do? I have already explained to you I cannot go through losing her; if I keep her at arms-length than it will not hurt as bad if she is suddenly killed." He tried to reason with Nev again. It had been a few weeks since she'd confronted him in his quarters and apparently they were going to have the same conversation again.
"Ronon, how would you feel if you found out that Olivia was killed while she is off world with Major Lorne's team today?" Teyla asked curiously.
Nevaeh watched as different emotions swept across Ronon's face and she knew the second Teyla had his attention. "I think you stuck a cord Teyla. C'mon Ronon tell the truth. How would you feel?"
Ronon growled. "I would feel as if I lost Melena all over again. This is why I don't want to get any closer to her. I cannot go through that kind of pain again. I refuse to." Ronon tossed his wooden make-shift sword across the gym before he left the room.
Teyla smirked as she let out a breath. "I think you are starting to get to him"
"Good. He needs to start admitting how he really feels about Olivia. She would admit the same thing, but she won't do it if he doesn't say anything." Nev stated. "C'mon lets go get some water."
Teyla agreed as the two headed to the mess hall.
How the hell did she get herself into this?
Olivia groaned low in her throat as she rolled from her side to her back as pain radiated through her ribs. There actually wasn't a bone in her body that didn't hurt. She along with Major Lorne's team we're scheduled for off-world supply delivery on MX5-436. They had been contacted by the leader and were advised their hospital had been decimated and they were in the process of building a new one but needed supplies.
The Atlantis team showed up and had been ambushed by Commander Acastus Kolya of the Genii military. Apparently, the Genii had taken possession of MX5-436 and were actually hoping for Colonel Sheppard's team. But knew once Major's Lorne's team missed check in; Atlantis would send out Sheppard's team for the rescue.
"Livy, are you okay? How are you feeling?" A familiar voice asked softly.
Olivia's jade eyes blinked opened slowly. "I feel like I've been run over by a tank."
"Yea apparently Kolya's men don't have an aversion to hitting women. The worked you over pretty good trying to get the location of Atlantis from you." Evan stated from his position next to Olivia. "You've probably got several bruised ribs and scraps and cuts, but nothing that won't heal."
"Oh I've got a couple of cracked ribs and my head is throbbing. Did anyone get the license plate off that tank that hit me?" Olivia asked.
Captain Edwards chuckled. "Sorry Doc. He crushed me foot after he ran you over so I was doing a lot of bouncing and cussing."
Olivia laughed softly as she held her right side. "Thanks for trying Captain." She felt Evan lift her carefully so she could sit up with them.
The creaking of the metal cell door brought the team's attention to the man who walked in.
"What do you want with us Kolya?" Evan asked as his body tensed up.
Commander Kolya smirked as a few of his men followed him into the 10x10 cell. "Well I figured I'd come in and check on all your lovely people. See how my men were really treating all of you. See if any of you are willing to give up the gate address for Atlantis."
"That's not going to happen, but you can let us go before Colonel Sheppard gets here and you regret ever being born." Evan stated in a snarky tone.
Commander Kolya nodded. "No worries. I'm sure it's going to be a while before the Colonel is here, which gives us ample time to change your minds." He nodded at his men as two of them walked over and lifted Dr. Olivia Dixon up by her upper arms and practically drug her out of the cell.
When Evan's team bounced to their feet the Commanders men all cocked the hammer's on their weapon's forcing the Atlantis team to stand down. "Let me know if her screams help change your mind any." Kolya stated through a chuckle as he walked out of the cell.
Evan walked over to the bars as he gripped them in his hands. "STAY STRONG LIVY! DON'T TELL THEM SHIT!" He yelled.
Evan's eyes slammed shut as a high pitched shriek echoed down the hall.
Ronon walked into the conference room strapping his blaster to his thigh. "What the hell is going on?" He asked as he sat down next to John.
John looked over at Ronon. "Well it would seem Evan's team has gotten themselves into trouble. They were due back an hour ago and when we attempted to make contact with them nothing happened. Elizabeth sent a MALP through the stargate and the gate is being protected by Genii; this can only mean one thing."
Ronon scoffed. "Yea, Kolya is at it again with trying to get to you."
"He's not getting his hands on John. But we are going to go retrieve Evan's team." Nev stated as she was sitting next to John.
Rodney McKay sat across from John, Ronon and Nevaeh. "Isn't Olivia with Evan's team? I thought I saw her leave with them this morning."
Teyla sat next to Rodney as she flicked his ear lobe. "OW! What was that for?" Rodney whined.
Teyla pointed across the table to the suddenly over anxious Sateda heading the table. Teyla noticed Ronon was gripping the arms of the fancy office chair and she watched as his knuckle began to turn white.
Ronon looked at John. "Sheppard is it true? Is the Doc with them?"
John looked at Ronon as he hesitated for a second before he nodded. "Yea."
Why the hell did she have to go with Evan's team? If something happened to her then he really wouldn't get the chance to tell her how he felt about her. His exercise with Nev and Teyla earlier had gotten to him, but he didn't actually think Olivia was on the off-world mission with Evan's team. He knew she had requested to stick with Evan's team since he was on Sheppard's. She wouldn't be needed for a supply drop off.
"Why did she go with them?" Ronon asked in a gruff voice; the scowl very present on his face showing off his mood change.
Everyone knew Ronon loved going off-world. It was staying in one place on Atlantis too much that bothered him and forced him to become restless.
John shook his head negatively. "I don't know. Maybe Evan asked if she wanted to go. She and Evan are pretty close. They do a lot of things together. So who knows why she went."
"Why are they so close? They do spend a lot of time together." Ronon inquired.
Nev smirked as she looked around John. "Jealous?"
Ronon growled towards Nev as his eye narrowed.
"Hey! Don't stick me in the middle of you two!" Jon protested. "And for your information Evan was Eric's twin."
Ronon's eyes widened. That piece of information had never been told to him before. He was curious if Olivia had feelings for Evan since he was her deceased husband's twin.
"Don't even think it Dex!" Nevaeh growled. "Olivia doesn't see Evan that way. They both lost someone they loved immensely. They comfort each other when they miss Eric the most. They were friends before she met Eric."
"How can you be sure?" Ronon growled again.
"Because you ass she's in love with you and you're in love with her but you're being a stubborn dick and she's not going to invest her heart into someone who won't reciprocate her feelings." Nev growled before she stood up and shoved her chair back under the table. "Come get me when were ready to go Sheppard." She snapped as she walked out of the meeting room.
John shook his head as he watched Nev leave before his blue landed on Ronon. "Do you even understand the meaning of don't 'piss off the girls on the team'? She called me Sheppard. Man my ass is in for it now."
"It was not my intention to piss her off. I am still trying to figure out my own feelings for the Doc." Ronon stated quietly.
"How do you feel about Olivia?" John asked. "Not here…" He tapped the middle of his chest. "Here…" He pointed to his stomach. "Right now; what do you feel here knowing she's being held off-world by the Genii?" John inquired.
Ronon's eyes danced around the room as he took in the sick feeling in the pit of his gut. "I feel like I am going to puke."
"You love her and right now you're scared out of your mind because when we get there you don't know what to expect. Yea you're expecting a fight from the Genii, but you don't know what kind of condition Olivia is going to be in. And if you hadn't been avoiding her she wouldn't have requested to go off-world with Evan's team only. And you could have been protecting her your way the whole time."
"Aren't you glad you opted not to get close to her now?" John asked.
Ronon was unable to refute anything said because Elizabeth walked into the meeting room and started briefing the team. Before long they were strapping up and heading to the jumper bay to get a jumper into the gate room and go through the stargate to rescue their abducted Atlantis members.
Evan was pacing the cell; they had taken Olivia away more than an hour ago and hadn't returned her yet. She had stopped screaming about 25 minutes ago and Evan's level of worry went up every 10 minutes.
Captain Edwards had been watching the Major pacing back and forth and noticed he kept looking at the hallway than led out of the room where the cells were.
Evan's head snapped up as he heard the unmistakable sound of a P90 being fired. "Boy's I think the cavalry is here." Evan's was extremely thankful as the door to the hallway was blown off by Ronon's blaster and he watched as Colonel Sheppard's team filled into the room with the cells from the hallway.
"Excuse me sir did you and your children order a taxi?" John stated dryly.
Evan smiled. "Why yes - yes we did."
"Dispatch said your wife would be joining you…" John teased as Teyla unlocked the cell.
Evan shook his head. "Kolya and his men took Olivia about an hour ago and 25 minutes ago she stopped screaming. I don't know if they took her somewhere else or if she passed out from the pain. They put a pretty good beating on her but she kept her lips buttoned. I have to say I'm damn proud of her."
"THEY PUT THEIR HANDS ON HER?" Ronon growled out loudly.
Captain Edwards stepped out of the cell. "Yes sir they did. I'm pretty sure they were giving her more before all went quiet." He explained.
"I'm killing Kolya if you don't Sheppard." Ronon warned as he stalked out of the cell room.
Sheppard shook his head. "Oh crap." He turned as he watched Ronon disappear out into the hallway and could already hear his blaster going off. "This is not good."
"Nice to see something finally lit a fire under his ass about Olivia." Nev stated in a snarky tone as she followed John; who was already going after Ronon.
Evan was next to Nevaeh. "I have to agree Nev."
"Ooo Rah Major!" Nev crowed out as she and Evan bumped fists.
John stopped and looked back at the pair. "Major Lorne, please don't not encourage her."
"Yes-yes don't encourage me. I can do bad all on my own." Nev snickered.
"Yes Sir Colonel Sir." Evan chuckled as they continued to follow the sounds of Ronon's blaster.
He had to find her.
He absolutely had to find her.
If she'd been screaming it meant they had been torturing her again. His dark eyes dancing along the dark hallways as he let his blaster take out anyone that moved in a Genii uniform. He would kill every last one of these son of a bitches until he found Olivia.
He'd been so stupid to try and pretend he wasn't already in love with her. And now he didn't know if he'd ever get the chance to build a life with her that he wanted. The life he'd already started building with Melena before she'd been taken from him. Melena would have kicked his ass if she'd of seen the way he was behaving towards Olivia. She would want him happy no matter whom he continued his life with. He'd wasted so much time mourning the loss of Melena that he'd forgotten to let himself learn to love again.
His dark eyes came upon a door as he looked through the window at the top he could see Olivia tired to a metal column in the room. "SHEPPARD!" He checked the door and saw no wires or traps. He stood back as he shot his blaster at the door knob and blew it off as the door snapped open hitting the wall behind it.
Ronon's eyebrows were drawn down as he checked for any kind of explosives or traps. No one was in the lit room but Olivia. Ronon went to her immediately as he pulled one of his many knives out of his dreads and cut the ropes to free her as Sheppard and the rest of the two teams helped hold Olivia up until Ronon shrugged out of his browned long leather trench coat and wrapped it around Olivia's lifeless body.
Nev let out a sigh of relief as she felt Olivia's pulse point. "She's alive, but I'm not even going to gauge her injuries we have to get her back to Atlantis so Carson can work on her."
Ronon carefully lifted her into his arms and cradled her against his chest.
If there ever was a God; Ronon prayed he was merciful and would let Olivia be okay.
