(Guest)- Ok, you asked me to write the end part in Clary's point of view, it took me a while to figure out how I was going to do it, but I did it! Be proud of me x3

Ok there are way too many people I want to talk to but I have little time to write this, so I'll write it and just know that I read each and every one of your reviews and they all made me smile :D

Oh, also there's been a screw up in the last chapter, I literally skipped over an entire paragraph (in my book, when written it's like 1 line lol), it's minimally important, and I've gone back and changed it in the chapter, but you don't actually HAVE to read it in the other chapter, I'm writing it in this one, but it has Jace's point of view on it so you can check that if you want to :)

Without further-a-do, here is chapter 10

Clary POV

Clary stared up at the ceiling listening to the loud snores of Simon. They kept her awake, not that she was really tired to begin with. Despite how irritating snoring was, his snores comforted her. In a world where everything had gone wrong recently, Simon had been her controlled variable, the one who would always be there. Funny how that should've been her mum, should've been the only dad she'd ever really had.

A soft knock on her door plucked her from her thoughts. Clary carefully rose from her bed, careful not to wake Simon, and padded over to the entrance of her room. Clary pulled open the door and saw Jace standing there, hands behind his back, looking at her intently. Instantly her heart reacted, beating just a tad faster at his presence.

"Hey, were you sleeping?" He asked her. She looked back into the room to check for any disturbance in the sleep of her best friend. There was none, he continued to snore peacefully. So, she stepped out into the hallway.

"Nah, I couldn't sleep. What do you need?" She told him, looking intently at him. With a smirk the blonde haired boy held up a wicker picnic basket.

"Picnic with yours truly?" Jace said questioningly.

The pace of her heartbeat quickened with the thought and her first reaction was to jump around like a little girl and scream yes over and over, but she kept her composure and sighed like she had to think about it. "Why do you want to go on a picnic with me?" She asked curiously.

"Because a little birdie told me it's your birthday tomorrow." He answered. She was surprised Simon must've let it slip at some point, She thought.

"Oh, a birdie, huh? And what's this birdie's name?" Simon, Simon, Simon, Simon, She thought with a smile.

"His name is Frank, duh. I can't believe you've never met him!" Jace was smirking that famous smirk of his again. "I think Frank will be very upset if you don't go on this picnic with me."

"Well," She said smiling, "We wouldn't want to upset poor frank, would we?" Clary watched as Jace's face brightened and her stomach fluttered.

"No, we wouldn't, guess you'll have to come with me then." Jace said.

"Guess so." She replied with a smile. At they began walking down the hall. "So, where are we going for our picnic? I mean it's not like we can go to central park because there's-"

"Animals, I know." He interrupted with a nod.

"Actually, I was going to say muggers…" She said, though she didn't really think anyone would get very far mugging Jace.

"Ah, yeah, that too… anyways, we're going to the greenhouse." He said. She looked at him surprisedly.

"This hotel has a green house?" She asked with raised eyebrows.

"Well, it's more like a simple roof garden, but it's got glass around it to moderate temperature." He said to her. "Plus, no one should bother us up there. Hodge loves it up there, but at this time he's gone to sleep. Alec and Izzy hate it up there; they have allergies, so it should just be us." The thought of being alone with Jace brought a blush to her cheeks. It wasn't like they'd never been alone together, but this time it slightly embarrassed her.

They walked towards a metal staircase and though the door that was in the wall. "It's definitely not as annoying as the one at school, but it's got one plant the greenhouse at school doesn't." Jace said.

"Oh, and what's that?" She asked him.

"You'll see." Was all he said as he smirked at her. Together they reached into the basket and removed its contents, laying out the blanket and all of the food. She looked around the blanket and saw that it was covered with the items from the wicker basket, covered enough that Clary had no idea where she was to sit. Jace must have seen her puzzled look because he cleared a spot for her and showed it to her as he said "Here." He gently guided her to sit down on the blanket, she was quite grateful. "Comfy?" She nodded not being able to stop herself from giggling, he was smirking at her.

"Absolutely." Clary said still giggling. She watched as he pulled a small piece of notebook paper from his pocket.

"It's not much, and I thought, this isn't really a proper dinner, so…" He held out the folded paper and she took it with curiosity. "Happy Birthday." He said.

She smiled at him before looking down at the note he had given her. It was an IOU for dinner with Jace on Saturday. Her heart swelled at the gesture though it was small, it had a large meaning. "Well, I wasn't expecting anything for my birthday this year, so thank you." Clary smiled at him and, for a moment, he smiled back. He turned away from her and grabbed 2 plates and the 2 sandwiches that were in the picnic basket.

"Cheese sandwiches?" She said with a laugh.

"Hey, my grilled cheese is deliciousness." Jace told her smirking cockily. They both bit into their sandwiches and she could hear Jace's stomach growl. It made her giggle and Jace chuckled with her. Once they had both finished their sandwiches, Jace pulled out a sharp knife and began slicing up green apples for the 2 of them. Jace handed her a couple of slices and she took a large bite out of one, effectively getting juice all over her cheek. Before she could do it herself, Jace had reached up and brushed away the juice with his thumb. Clary's eyes widened the feeling of his thumb against her cheek was like thousands of little pricks over and over, in a good way. The warmth was overpowering, and she almost kissed him right then and there, but she was spared from doing something completely insane by Jace clearing his throat and removing his hand from her cheek. She herself ate another apple slice and looked down, a blush most likely very visible upon her cheeks.

Clary was more surprised when Jace suddenly moved to sit behind her, his head hovering above her right shoulder. "Look Clary, in 30 seconds you'll see your 2nd birthday present." He was pointing in front of the both of them at a patch of what looked like flowers; she couldn't see them very well because it was very dim.

"10…9…8…7…6…" He was whispering in her ear, sending shivers down her spine. "5…4…3…2…1" Right then all of the flowers previously identified by Jace lit up in a variety of different colors. The flowers bloomed and from their center spilled different colors of light. Soft glows that made her fingers itch for a sketchbook and some colored pencils so she could record the beauty of it all, and she gasped with surprise.

"Happy birthday, Clary." Jace said

Jace POV

Jace looked at Clary, her face was alight with curiosity and delight. It was a sight he wanted to savor forever. After a bit Jace moved back to his previous spot on the blanket. He smirked at her as he ate more apples and she blushed as she ate her own.

Once they had finished all of the apples, the pair packed up their picnic and stuffed it all into the wicker basket in silence. They were walking to the door when Clary tripped and fell into Jace's side. He turned to try to steady her, but somehow their lips connected and they were kissing. He didn't want to stop it, he turned to pull her closer to him and they were now kissing passionately. Clary had her arms wrapped around his neck and her fingers were tugging at his hair. Jace's arms were wrapped firmly around her waist, pulling her up so that they were of equal height. Her lips tasted distinctly of the green apples they had recently been eating. At some point he had dropped the basket but he honestly couldn't care less. When they finally broke apart it was to breathe. They were gulping down air and smiling brightly at each other. Jace turned a bit and reached out his hand to grasp her own as he bent to retrieve the fallen basket.

"Wow." Clary said breathlessly.

"Yeah." Jace replied with a smile at her. It was a genuine smile, he wasn't faking and he wasn't hiding anything, not right now. That kiss was amazing, something he wasn't expecting from such a small girl.

They heard a caw from above them and Jace and Clary looked up in surprise. "Now don't be alarmed," He said, "but we have an audience. That's Hugo, Hodge's bird. We might wanna go." He looked at her and she nodded. With a squeeze of her hand he pulled her to the door and down the metal staircase.

They walked for a while, never breaking their grip on one another, talking casually about normal things.

"School is going to be interesting Monday." Jace said looking ahead of them both as they walked.

"Ugh," She said shutting her eyes, "don't remind me."

Jace chuckled and they arrived in front of her bedroom.

"Jace…" Clary said. Her lips were parted and he couldn't help himself. Jace leaned down, holding the sides of her head with his hands gently, and pressed his lips to hers. She sighed in satisfaction and instantly reacted to him. Her fingers would into the bottom of his shirt. They were only kissing for a moment before the door to their side banged open. Jace almost groaned aloud as Clary jumped away from him.

"What the hell?!" Simon said angrily. He was quite obviously avoiding looking at Jace and was only looking at Clary. Jace didn't care, he glared angrily at Simon, what a pain he was for ruining his time with Clary.

"Oh, hey Simon… I-I thought you were sleeping." Clary said almost nervously.

"Yeah, I was, and then I woke up and you were gone, didn't realize it was because you were shacking up with blondie over here." Simon said. Jace rolled his eyes, mainly at the comment about his hair.

"I was not 'shacking up'! We were just kissing Simon!"

"Just kissing?" Jace questioned angrily. "How quickly you dismiss our passionate and loving embrace." Jace was fuming now, he may have put on a mask of nonchalance, but inside he was very angry. He clenched and unclenched his fists, making sure they didn't notice.

"Jace, stop."

"You know, next time you invite a man to bed, you should probably let him know there's already one there." Jace said angrily.

"You invited him to bed?!" Simon was incredulous.

"Weird right? We would've never all fit." Jace said. This simple guy, whom had technically done nothing wrong, made Jace so angry. Jace couldn't figure out why though.

"Jace stop it." Clary said, he could tell that she too was growing angry, but that didn't stop him from being as upset as he was.

"Stop what?" He asked.

"Acting like nothing touches you! Like you're completely unharmed by anything that happens to you." She said to him angrily. He was truly surprised, this girl had known him for less than a week but she already knew so much about him. It scared him a bit, but more than anything it made him like her more, which was just plain confusing.

"This is ridiculous." Simon said. He turned around and slammed the door shut behind him.

"Go on, go pat his head and tell him he's your special little guy." Jace said. He knew he was being mean, and he knew he had no reason to act that way, but he couldn't help it, he never wanted to hurt anybody as much as he wanted to hurt Clary at that moment. He began to stalk off but he turned back for a moment. "And don't worry, it wasn't that special for me either." It was a lie and he knew it. It didn't make a difference, he walked away before he could see or hear her reaction.

Clary POV

To say what he said didn't hurt would be a lie. She had thought that what they'd shared was great, that they'd both felt the tingles inside, both felt… well, felt the attraction for each other that she'd surely felt.

But apparently not.

She felt like crying, but she couldn't cry, not now. Now she had to go to Simon. Pat his head and tell him he's your special little guy, Jace's words echoed in her ears. It wasn't like that though, that wasn't what she did.

She walked into the room to see Simon sitting on her bed. He looked like he was moving out, but she knew the look all too well, he was upset and contemplating doing something.

"That wasn't what it looked like." Clary said to him with a sigh.

"Really? 'Cuz it looked like you were kissing him and it looked like you had been with him all night." Simon said looking up with a glare.

"Okay, maybe it's a bit of what it looked like. He was wishing me a happy birthday Simon, that's really all it was." She said.

"All it was? Well for fucks sake, excuse me for thinking that normal people don't kiss you just to wish you a happy birthday, especially not like THAT!" Simon said looking at her with complete and utter anger.

"What the hell is you're problem?" She couldn't take this, not from Simon. Why do you even care who kisses me? Huh? You were all buddy-buddy with Izzy lately, why can't I like Jace?!"

"Because he's an ass! And I was only with Izzy to make you jealous!" Simon was standing now, breathing hard as he spoke to her. But his last comment had confused Clary utterly.

"What? Why were you trying to make ME jealous?"

"Because I'm in love with you Clary!" In that moment time stopped, and not in the good way. Now everything clicked into place, how he'd been acting, the way he was so protective over her. She'd always thought they were brotherly gestures, it never in a million years would've crossed her mind that Simon of all people could be in love with her.

"W… What?" Clary breathed out.

"I'm in love with you, and I have been since we were 10. But from your reaction, you obviously don't feel the same way." Simon said. "I also realize that it was a bad idea to stomp off to your room to sulk, but I had to grab a few things."

"Simon, I-" She began, but she couldn't finish, she had no idea what she wanted to say.

"Clary, just don't." Simon said. With that he grabbed his things and walked out the door, slamming it shut.

Clary slid to the floor and broke down into tears. Within the space of a week Clary had lost everyone important to her. She sobbed on the floor, unable to stop herself for the longest of times. She didn't know it was possible to hurt this bad. She missed her mum. She missed Luke. She missed Simon. And she realized worst of all, she couldn't do anything to change what was going on around her. She didn't know how to get her mum back, Luke wanted nothing to do with her, she couldn't make herself love Simon in the way he so desperately wanted her to.

She wanted Jace, she wanted him to take back what he said, to tell her that she was important to him. She wanted him to hold her and tell her hat everything would be ok.

But he wouldn't come.

Everything wasn't ok.

LINEBREAK

Clary spent the rest of her Sunday inside her bedroom drawing. She barely ate and she had everything else she needed right there.

Everyone, at different times, had come up to try and get her to come down, or to eat. Everyone but Jace, he stayed well away. She hadn't accepted any of their attempts and had sent them all away. She even convinced herself that she didn't care about Jace's absence.

Only the next day did she come down, and that was simply because of school. She was dressed in skinny jeans and a tight blue tank top with her lime green converse. The outfit accentuated the minimal curves she had in all the right places and it made her want to jump up and down when she could feel Jace's eyes on her.

The teenagers ate their breakfasts quickly before piling into the care outside the hotel that would take them to school.

LINEBREAK

Clary's classes passed by quickly and soon she sat with Magnus at lunch.

"So, how was the rest of your weekend, Clary-beary?" Magnus asked her as he munched on some sort of sandwich.

"A mixture of horrible and amazing." Clary said as she stared at her uneaten lunch.

"Oh really? Why's that?" He asked.

"Well… Something happened that I'm not telling you… and then my best friend told me he loved me." Clary said. She decided against eating and pushed her food into the trash.

"That's cool!" Magnus said enthusiastically, "Best kind of love is the kind that blooms from friendship."

"I don't love him back."

"Oh." That was all he said.

"Yeah, pretty much." She looked up to see Jace, Alec, and Izzy all walk in. Jace didn't even look at her, Alec glanced at them, blushed a bit, and then followed Jace to a seat far from them. Izzy on the other hand tapped her brothers' shoulders saying something to them and then came to where Clary and Magnus were sitting.

"Hey." Izzy said with a bright smile.

"Hey," Clary said smiling back. "Not that I'm opposed to it, but why are you sitting with us? We're not exactly your type of people…"

"My type of people?" Izzy laughed. "Clary, I don't have a type of people, I just don't like people."

"We're not people?" Clary asked.

"Nope." Izzy said matter-of-factly.

"Good lord, I have been confused all my life it seems." Magnus said dramatically clutching at his chest. Clary and Izzy laughed.

"It seems so." She said.

For the next 20 minutes Clary, Magnus, and Izzy ate and chatted with each other casually until they had to leave for their classes.

"Clary," Magnus called. "Be careful with your heart, you're body may be strong and so may your will, but a heart is a very fragile thing." He said. Clary didn't understand for a moment, and then she understood that he meant Jace. She didn't know how he'd figured it out, but she nodded despite her confusion.

LINEBREAK

Clary rushed to the art room to sign in and she quite literally ran into Jace.

"Oh, I'm sorry." Clary said to him, her eyes wide.

"Don't worry about it." Jace said, he glanced at her for just a moment before moving past her. With a sigh she walked into the art room and signed in, and then she left. She strolled to the building and went straight up to Jace and her floor. When she stepped inside the first thing she saw was Jace crouched next to their paper. The topic they had chosen was 'Life is Beautiful' So bits of life covered the page. Jace was working intently on some plant life in the corner.

"Jace… I had an idea." Clary said hesitantly. He looked up from his work to her, the longest look she'd received from him all day.

"Well, what is it?" He said, not unkindly.

"I want the main focus, like the big thing in the middle, to be a big butterfly with our school colors." She said quickly. Jace nodded slowly.

"That sounds great, good idea. You should draw it, I don't want to screw it up." Jace said. Clary smiled at him and nodded enthusiastically.

Clary walked over to the middle of the paper and sat down. She thought for a moment before timidly asking Jace, "Uh… Jace… what are our school colors?"

"Huh? Oh right, you haven't been going her long. They're blue, black, and white." He said.

Clary nodded. "One more question, my phone is broken, do you mind if I use yours for a picture?"

Jace reached into his pocket and pulled out his phone. He handed it to Clary with the browser open. "Thank you." She said with a smile. He just nodded and then turned back to his work.

She found a picture of the butterfly she wanted and for a while she drew. Every once in a while she could feel Jace's eyes on her, but she refused to look over at him. But then she couldn't take it anymore, she turned to Jace and began to speak.

"Why are you so mean to me sometimes and then go right back to acting kind to me other times?"

Jace looked a bit surprised. "I'm not sure I know what you mean." He said.

"At school you act like I'm not here, then at the party you defended me and even carried me partially home, then you kissed me in the rooftop garden, and then acted like it was nothing. All day you've been basically giving me the cold shoulder until now! I don't get it, in fact, I'm utterly confused!" Clary said to him. Jace looked like he was contemplating what to say.

"I don't really know." He said. "I just know that sometimes I feel so angry with you and then sometimes I just want to kiss you, it's very weird and confusing, and I just need some time to think." This surprised Clary, she wanted to rejoice, because, to some extent, this is what she wanted.

"Well… you have till Saturday." Clary said.

"Huh? Why Saturday?" He asked puzzled.

"Because, that's when you owe me dinner." Clary answered with a cocky smile.

"Ah, so I see you are still very caught up on that." Jace said.

"Well, I wouldn't say 'caught up' but hey, if you don't want to go…" Clary started.

"Oh shush." Jace said smirking at her. She smirked right on back.

"That's what I thought."

With that the two of them continued working in a peaceful silence. In about an hour they packed up their things and went home.

Today was an okay day, Clary thought on the way home.

And it was.

Ok, I know the ending was weak, but gimme a break, I wanted it done as soon as possible so that I could type it up and post it.

So I am really sorry that this couldn't be posted on Friday, to be fair I didn't even start writing until like Tuesday because I was sick, like really sick, I didn't go to school for 3 days ..

So yeah, I got 22 reviews, think y'all can give me 15? If you do, I will ABSOLUTELY post by Sunday next week, at LEAST, I might post before that if I finish early. I am now going to set Sundays as my deadline for each chapter, and I can promise that I'll make my deadline if y'all review enough, if not, I make none v.v

I love you guys so much, thank you for reading and, hopefully, reviewing :D
