This is so overdue ~~ Sorry :)
It Couple In Trouble
PERCY:
"Annie," I groaned from my place on her bed. I stretched lazily and huffed.
"Percy, you can't hang out with Peter. We have to look after Lily!" She stated with her hands on her hips.
"But Annie..." I started whining again but Annabeth just rolled her eyes at me.
She plopped down on the bed beside me. "I hear him and Katherine are going out," she told me. "We can't interrupt that."
"Fine," I huffed, giving in. "What are we going to do with Lily?" Annabeth shrugged.
"I was thinking the carnival, you know rides, games, food," she suggested. "I haven't been there in a long time."
"Can we go the aquarium? Pleease?" I pleaded, giving her my puppy dog eyes.
"Maybe Perce, maybe," she smiled as she went to get Lily.
We put on disguises. Annabeth tied her hair up into a ponytail and wore a pair of sunglasses with a Yankees baseball cap. I wore a beanie, with Aviator sunglasses. We called a cab because if we pulled up in a limo, we would have people all over us. We went to the carnival, with the Ferris wheel, the dropper, and the best roller coaster out, Tartarus. Lily was in awe, she was literally bouncing in her seat with excitement. Her eyes darted left and right, she kept pulling me towards one game or ride before changing her mind and dragging me to another. Annabeth was laughing behind me.
"Hey!" I cried out. I pouted at her. "You try being pulled everywhere!"
"No, I'm good." She said, waving her hand around dismissively. Sighing, I grabbed Lily's arm gently.
"Hey, Lily, how about we play this game?" I suggested, pointing at a game where the clown's head moved and you had to throw balls down his throat. Everyone won that one. It'll be a piece of cake..
"Yeah! Let's go," she agreed almost immediately and then I was being dragged again. For a little girl, she sure had a good grip. We reached the booth and I paid for one game, while Lily was totally hypnotized with throwing balls down the clown's throat.
"I don't get how a 5 year old can drag you around," she stated, nudging my shoulder.
"She's a very strong 5 year old," I groaned just as a cheer erupted from Lily.
"I did it! I did it! What do I win?! What do I win?!" She bounced up and down again.
"Well," the lady who worked at the booth said. "She got 36 points so that means she gets a choice between stickers, a water gun or a bag of marshmallows." Lily's eyes lit up.
"Well, what do you want?" I bent down to Lily's height.
"Marshmallows, marshmallows!" She cried, smiling broadly.
"We'll take the marshmallows," I told booth lady. She smirked.
"They all do," I smiled at her before we turned and walked away with the packet of marshmallows.
"Can we go on that?" Lily asked, pointing at the dropper. The ride went up a tall thin track into the sky before just dropping to the bottom.
"Um, no," I said, disagreeing.
"How about this?" Annabeth suggested, pointing to a mini roller coaster. Lily pouted.
"Boring!" She groaned. "This?" she dragged me to Tartarus.
"I guess," I gave in. We stood in line. When we reached the front of the line, the ticket sales man was asleep, so we paid for tickets and got on the ride. A different man came along shutting the bars to keep us in place. Finally, he reached a box at the front and hit a button. Slowly, we started moving upwards, crawling to the top. When we reached it, I was not ready for the drop that came.
I felt like I might lose my lunch! Which was ridiculous! We hadn't had lunch yet!The dips, the turns, the loops. Just not my thing. When the ride stopped, I hopped off as fast as possible and stumbled around a bit. I felt someone slip under my arm to see Lily holding me around my hips, steadying me.
"Thanks, Lily," I ruffled her hair, Annabeth came up in front and took out her phone and snapped a picture.
"That's my lock screen, for sure" she told us, looking at the photo.
"I wanna see!" Lily screamed, letting go of my hips and running over to Annabeth. Annabeth bent down and showed her the photo.
"Can I take one of you and Percy?" She asked. Annabeth hesitated. The last time someone took a photo of us, it didn't turn out so good.
"Sure, I guess. Just hold it like this and when your ready hit this button," she explained before coming over and slipping an arm round my waist and resting her head on my shoulder. I put my arm around her waist and pulled her closer, I heard a faint click.
"Got it!" Lily squealed, excitedly.
"Great, shall we go get ice-cream?" I suggested.
"Yes! Ice-cream! Ice-cream!" Lily resumed her jumping up and down from before (that girl must be part bunny). Annabeth shook her head.
"Oh Perce, after the roller coaster?" She raised an eyebrow.
"What, ice-cream makes me fell better!" I protested, she giggled.
"Sure, let's get ice-cream," and so we walked over to the ice-cream cart.
"Two chocolates, one vanilla," I told the man, he nodded and pulled them out of his freezer. I handed the vanilla to Annabeth and gave a chocolate to Lily. But before she could take one lick, a little boy ran into her, knocking the ice-cream out of her hands.
"My ice-cream!" She wailed. "He made me drop it." She pointed at the little boy, he was standing next to her staring at the ice-cream on the ground.
"I'm sorry," he said, meekly. "Have you never heard of the ten second rule?" He later asked. Lily shook her head, wiping her eyes.
"No, what is it?"
"When you drop food if you pick it up quickly and say ten second rule, it's ok to eat it." Lily tilted her head to the side, contemplating his words.
"Can I eat it now?"
"No, it's been on the ground for too long," he explained. Way to ruin her hopes and dreams. Lily pouted.
"Lily, it's ok well buy you another one, and.. What's your name?" Annabeth asked the little boy.
"I'm Harry."
"Well, Harry, would you like chocolate or vanilla?" I asked.
"Vanilla."
"Ew, vanilla's boring!" Lily complained, eyebrows furrowed.
"Is not!" Harry shot back. Before Lily could argue more, Annabeth jumped in.
"Lily, Harry likes vanilla and that's his choice okay?" Lily nodded.
"Okay." I went and bought two more ice-creams and gave them to the two kids just as a woman came up behind us. She must be Harry's mother.
"Oh, you found him! My baby boy!" She cried hugging Harry tightly. Poor kid looked so helpless.
"Mum!" He complained "You're squishing my ice-cream!"
"Oh sorry, did you two buy him this?"
Annabeth and I nodded
"Thank you, but we must get going now," she said and picked up Harry. "You have the cutest daughter, by the way. Such an adorable family." Annabeth and I just stared after her as she walked off. Family?
The sun was just beginning to set so I suggested that we went on the Ferris wheel. They both agreed. And I have to say that looking over the lake with the sunset up high in the Ferris wheel is definitely my favourite way to end the day.
A/N:
Gahhhh This is so overdue! I feel so awful. Thanks so much to BunnyBo for typing up a rough draft so that my work is only editing. I would be so lost without you. Thank you so so much. I'm sorta sick right now. I just had my birthday last Saturday (4 October). Not everything went well, the icing on my cake went everywhere as I was taking it home so I sort of had a deformed cake. So sad. Anyway, I hope I'll be able to update more in the future. My exams start on the 20th of October. So many things to think about...
Anyway, have a great day and tell me what you think.
Sorry if I made it crappy but I haven't had a chance to write lately.
Anyway, see you soon and love you guys.
