Vampire's Promise chapter 10
The test
I had way too much fun with this chapter.
Erza's POV
I glanced once more at Jellal. He had returned to a human form but he still looked ready to attack at any moment.
"So now, how do we see if Jellal will stay in control if Erza isn't around?" Master asked Thirren. She seemed to think deeply.
"I think we should do a similar thing that Lahar did but with someone he doesn't know." Thirren responded. Xavier looked shocked.
"He's not ready! He woke up today! There is no way he has developed the kind of control needed for a test like that." Xavier argued. Thirren sighed.
"I know, but it is the only way to prove he is not a threat at all." She responded. Jellal looked wary.
"If that's the case…" He trailed off seeming unsure of what to say. He glanced at me, our guild, and then the magic council. He seemed to come to a decision.
"Alright. I'll do it. If only to make sure Fairytail isn't threatened." He glanced at the council as if to say that they were the possible threat. Lahar gulped.
"Jellal…" I looked at him sadly. He smiled.
"I will be fine. " Then Xavier, and him left. I saw Ziro sit at the bar and sigh. He looked worried.
"Ziro." I got his attention. He looked at me curiously.
"Yes?" He questioned.
I sighed. "Do you think Jellal will be ok?" I asked worried. He looked at me in shock and then smirked.
"You wouldn't happen to be Erza would you?" He asked. I looked at him curiously.
"Yes, but what does that have to do with Jellal?" I asked. He smirked wider.
"Let's just say because of you he will be fine. You know, what stopped him from killing me was Xavier reminding him that you were human and attacking me would be almost the same since I'm also human." He explained. I looked at him in shock.
"Really?" I blushed.
"Yup. Your name alone seemed to snap Jellal out of the bloodlust." Ziro told me. "So have some faith in him. I'm going to wait here until they return. You are welcome to join me." Ziro scooted over to give me room on the bench. I gratefully sat down.
"So how did you meet Jellal?" Ziro asked. I knew that he and Jellal were somewhat friends so I preceded to tell him the story of The Tower of Heaven.
Jellal's POV
I followed Xavier down a mountain pass. "Where are we going?" I asked. He turned around and looked at me.
"To the bad end of town. There is always fights there." He explained. I looked at him curiously.
"So we are going where there will definetly be blood shed so you don't have to harm someone to test me." I stated and he nodded. We continues walking when I caught a scent that scent my mind reeling.
Blood. So much blood .Thirst. Must feed. I collapsed to my knees. The pull of the bloodlust was too strong to resist. Xavier glanced at me worriedly. I tried to resist. I really did try. It was so strong though. My throat was burning and my vision was blurring. I needed blood.
I took off toward the scent, leaving Xavier behind. I dimly was aware of him yelling at me to stop. Stop? Why? There was blood. I needed it. I had to stop this pain in my throat.
I rushed into an alley and there before me lay a women. I dimly noticed how she appeared to have been mugged but the gash on her throat was pouring out blood.
My throat felt like it was on fire. The scent of blood was driving me crazy. I stumbled toward the women. Blood… Just as I was about to sink my fangs in I froze. My mind cleared. I had been about to kill someone! I leaped backwards. The pull of the blood still leaving me weak. I leaned against the wall of the alley. I was shaking. Blood, blood, blood. NO! I have to resist. I have to. I held my head in my hand. I was dizzy with pain. My throat felt like it was being shredded. I whimpered. I didn't have the strength to stand. So overwhelming was the need to feed.
Xavier's POV
I raced into the alleyway and froze. At first I thought Jellal had attacked the women but then I realized there wasn't any blood on him. He was able to resist it? Incredible. I heard a whimper and took in the sorry state Jellal was in. Yes he had been able to resist the bloodlust but at a cost. He looked miserable. I quickly rushed the women to a hospital and returned to him. He hadn't moved.
"Come here, man. Let's get you home." I lifted him so that he was leaning on me. He looked like a wreck. I couldn't believe he had fought it. The pull of that much blood had left me dizzy and he was a newborn. He had somehow managed to stop himself. I glanced at him He was holding his throat. I bet it stung. He was shaking slightly. Jeez.
We quickly returned to HQ. I laid him down and quickly heated up some blood bags. The second I entered his room he leaped forward and grasped the bags. He sank his fangs down and his eyes scrunched in bliss. I chuckled.
Jellal's POV
Ah. Finally. I guzzled down blood bag after blood bag. After the 5th the burn in my throat started to dissipate and I stopped feeling as dizzy. After I finished the last one I turned to Xavier.
"Does that count as passing?" I questioned. He laughed.
"Hell yah! I was dizzy from the amount of blood. How did you fight it?" He questioned. I shrugged. I told him how at the last second I had a moment of clarity. He smiled.
"Lucky break." He commented. I nodded in reply. I sighed.
"Is it always like that? I thought I was going to collapse." I questioned meaning the effects I had suffered by resisting my instinct to feed.
"It gets easier with time. You did a great job today." Xavier told me. I sighed in relief. I couldn't imagine going through that again. I suddenly remembered the women. Xavier seemed to guess my upcoming question from the look on my face.
"The women is fine. I took her to the hospital. I bet she had been mugged. She will make a full recovery." He explained.
"That's good. I hope she feels better." I responded. He nodded.
"I'm going to go report your success. I'm guessing you want to stay here and recover?" I eagerly nodded my head.
"See yah." He called as he left. I laid back down on the bed and fell asleep.
Thirren's POV
They should have been back by now. How badly did Jellal fail? I was pacing the dining hall. Makarov and Erza watched me with their eyes. Suddenly Xavier busted through the door beaming. I looked at him in surprise.
"So?" I asked. Everyone turned to listen.
Erza's POV
"All is good!" Xavier announced and then preceded to tell us what had happened. It was apparently a crazy outcome since Nix was laughing by the end and all of the vampires looked shocked.
"I can't believe he was able to fight bloodlust that strong. You said it was making you dizzy?" Thirren questioned. Xavier nodded in reply.
"It was a ridiculous amount of blood. It left both of us weak." He added. Thirren nodded.
"Where is Jellal now?" I asked. Xavier smiled.
"Just relaxing. It was a bit rough on him physically. Fighting the pull of blood is never easy. But when you're a newborn vampire and it's that much blood. Well that is nearly impossible. He could barely stand when I caught up to him. The pull was too strong." Xavier explained. I shook my head.
"He will recover?" I asked.
"Definetly. He is probably taking a nap to reboot. After some rest he will be fine." I sighed in relief at Xavier's reassurance.
"So Jellal is not a threat. That's a relief." Lahar sighed. Everyone chuckled. I was relieved. Now the council won't come after him.
"Well I'll see you guys later! I have this thing I have to do. So bye!" Ziro suddenly exclaimed and rushed out the door. I looked at the door strangely.
"What was that about?" I asked Xavier. He shrugged. Weird…
Ziro's POV
I headed toward the vampire's HQ. I figured I'd help Jellal out. He saved my life. This was the least I could do for him.
I opened the door to his room and he looked up at me in surprise from where he was sitting on the windowsill.
"What are you doing here Ziro? I thought you were with the guilds." Jellal asked. I shrugged.
"I was. I heard Xavier's report. I figured you should know that the council doesn't see you as a threat." I told him.
"That's a relief. So did you need something?" Jellal asked me. I sat down beside him.
"Xavier told us how what you did had left you weak…" I trailed off, slightly nervous to tell him what I had come for.
"Yeah. I should be ok in a few hours. I'm still slightly dizzy though." He glanced at me curiously.
"I can help, you know. I owe you anyway." I told him. He looked at me in shock.
"No way. I'm not going to use you as a vending machine." He backed away in shock. I sighed.
"Jellal, you and I both know that you need more blood. I can help. It's not going to hurt me. We already know that. Just let me help you. I owe you my life. Let me help." I hoped he would let me do this. I wanted to repay him for saving me. But mostly he was my friend and I wanted to help. He may have been denying his thirst but I could see his eyes had started glowing red and his fangs had come out. He needed blood.
He was staring at the ground and was slightly shaking.
"You're sure? I might kill you." He practically growled out. I nodded. I tilted my head to give him access. A vicious growl erupted from his throat and suddenly I was pushed against the window. I flinched slightly when I felt the familiar sensation of his fangs pierce my neck. I relaxed as I felt by blood draining. It was a weird sensation. He pulled away after a few minutes and I slumped against his shoulder. He then licked my neck and the wound healed.
Jellal lifted his head and rested his forehead against mine.
"You are insane. " He stated smirking. I laughed.
"Yup." I responded. He joined my laughter.
"Now we are even." I stated. He rolled his eyes.
"Was being in my debt so terrible?" Jellal sat down beside me and nudged my shoulder.
"It was terrible! The constant fear, oh the terror!" I pretended to faint from the horror. Jellal caught me and looked like he was having a hard time not laughing. He tossed me onto the bed and sat on the windowsill again.
"Now, rest up before you start spouting Shakespeare." Jellal smirked at me and I chuckled. I closed my eyes and fell asleep.
Jellal's POV
I shook my head at Ziro's sleeping form. I can't believe he did that… I doubt it was just to repay the debt. I guess he just wanted to help. I thought of Xavier and Ziro. What did I do to get such loyal friends?
I stretched out on the windowsill and fell asleep. Jeez, it's been a long day.
Erza's POV
I was sitting next to Xavier and Thirren when suddenly Nix collapsed. He was withering on the ground and snarling. Thirren and Xavier rushed over.
"Nix, what's wrong? Talk to me!" Xavier exclaimed.
"My head, it… "He broke off snarling. Lucy walked over.
"Is he ok? Should I get Wendy?" She asked. Suddenly Nix turned toward her and lunged. Thirren knocked him down before he touched her. Everyone watched in shock as three vampires pinned Nix down.
"What just happened? Did I do something?" Lucy asked worried. Xavier glanced at her and then Nix. He seemed to realize something.
"What day is it?" He asked in a hushed tone.
"It's the 15th. Why?" I asked him. He looked shocked.
"Shit. It snuck up on us." He exclaimed. He turned toward the vampires struggling to hold down Nix.
"Knock him out!" He explained. One of the vampires hit the pressure point on Nix's neck and he collapsed.
"What's going on?" Lahar asked.
Thirren sighed. "Mating season is beginning. All hell is about to break loose." She glanced at the unconscious Nix. Everyone gasped.
"What does that mean?" Lahar questioned.
"Well as you know vampires mate for life and only have one true mate. When mating season comes around unmated vampires go crazy. If they have found their mate but haven't claimed them then they go into heat. If they haven't found their mates they go crazy with bloodlust instead. Mated vampires just well… They spend the week with their significant other." Xavier exclaimed.
"So all the single vampires are about to either get really horny or really violent." Cana put simply. Xavier chuckled.
"Yup. Unfortunately that is almost all the vampires. Very few are mated." He responded.
"Great. So what do we do to prevent casualties?" Makarov asked.
"Lock the doors to this building, and don't let any vampires in. We will try to keep everybody contained." Thirren stated.
Nix suddenly started to get up.
"Shit! I told you to knock him out!" Xavier yelled. The trio of vampires tried to restrain him but they were struggling. I pulled Lucy behind me when I realized Nix was still trying to get to her.
"I won't let you hurt Lucy." I stated pointing a sword at him. He recoiled but was still leaning towards her.
"Erza, wait." She told me. She walked up to Nix. He froze when she put her hand on his cheek. He instantly relaxed and leaned into her touch. I looked in shock as the vampire trio nodded and released Nix. Instead of attacking Lucy like I feared, he wrapped his arms around her and nuzzled her hair. She blushed and hugged him back. Xavier started laughing.
"Well. Like I said. It's mating season. Good luck Lucy, Nix won't let go of you for a while." She blushed deeper but didn't try to leave Nix's arms. The other vampires were smirking.
"Shall we give them some privacy?" A purple haired vampiress asked. Others laughed at her comment.
"I don't know Izalia. I don't mind watching." Another commented. Xavier laughed.
"Jeez. This coven is full of perverts. No one is watching anything. I suggest Lucy stays near her guild in case things get to out of hand." Xavier stated. "Nix won't hurt Lucy but he may attack others that he sees as a threat to her." He told Master. Makarov nodded.
"So we let him hold her, if you are ok with that Lucy." Makarov asked her. She blushed.
"I'm fine. I'd like to sit down though." The second she said that Nix picked her up and sat on a bar stool with her in his lap. Cana laughed.
"I like this. Ok, we will watch the lovebirds." She assured Xavier. I glanced at Lucy. She seemed happy in Nix's arms. He was holding her gently and playing with her hair. I smiled. I had originally thought he was a jackass but maybe he is a decent guy.
Suddenly a phone rang. Xavier picked it up and seemed confused at what he was hearing. Thirren looked at him curiously.
"I think Ziro pocket dialed me. Listen to this message." He put it on speaker phone.
The call (A/N The first line is Ziro then they switch. This is serious just a crack thing I just came up with. Enjoy!)
Z-"Shit. Ow. Ow!
J-"You need some help there, Ziro?"
Z-"Nah, I got this Jay. *Loud crash.* Fuck."
J-"Ok… You sure?"
Z-"I'm fine! Just stop starring at my ass!"
J-"What the fuck man?! You're the one that's flashing me!" If you're going to be like that I'll leave."
Z- *Sounds of a struggle* "Shit. Jay? You still there? Fuck. Jay! JELLAL! Fucking get back here!"
J-"What?"
Z- "Help!"
J-"I thought you said you didn't need any help."
Z-"Shut it smart ass. I'm stuck!"
J- *Laughter*
Z-"It's not funny! Help me!"
J-"On the contrary this is hilarious."
Z-"Fuck you! I can't see you but I know you are smirking. Help me!"
J-"Nah. I'm enjoying this. "
Z-"You sadistic bastard!"
J-"Thank you."
Z-"That's not a compliment!" *More struggling noises*
J-*Snickering*
Z-"Jay, come on man! I'm really stuck! Please help me."
J-"What do I get in return?"
Z-"Seriously!? You're bargaining?"
J- "Of course."
Z- *Struggling noises* *A sigh.* "Fine. What do you want?"
J-"Beg."
Z-"WHATTT?! Hell no!
J- *Laughter* "I can't believe you took that seriously! I was kidding! *More laughter*
Z- "Jellal?"
J-"Yah?"
Z-"Fuck you."
J- "No thanks."
Z- "Wait. WHAT?!
J- *Laughter*
Z-"You really are a sadistic. You're enjoying this."
J- "Of course. You're reactions are hilarious."
Z-"So… You gonna help me?"
J- "Sure." *Struggling noises.* "Shit. You're really stuck."
Z- "No shit Sherlock." *A loud bang. "FREEDOM!"
J- "You're welcome. By the way what were you doing in the couch?"
Z- "Trying to get the TV remote."
J- "Did you get it?"
Z- "Nope."
J- *Laugher*
Call Ended.
(A/N- basically Ziro was trying to get the TV remote that was in the couch. He ended up getting stuck somehow with his butt in the air and his face in the couch. And somehow his pants had fallen down. Jellal teased him by making perverted comments and making Ziro think he wouldn't help but in the end helped him get out. The TV remote was not recovered. I don't know where this came from… I blame it on being sick.)
Erza's POV
I stared at Xavier's phone.
"What the ….?" I didn't know how to respond. Xavier shrugged.
"Sounds like they're having fun." I turned to see Nix smirking.
"So you snapped out of it." Xavier told him. He nodded. He tightened his arms on Lucy.
"Sorry." He mumbled but we all heard him. She smiled at him and leaned back into him. He seemed surprised. I smiled.
"It's ok. Xavier explained." She sweetly told him. He looked at her in shock which turned to awe.
"Thanks for understanding Lucy." He smiled at her. She then kissed him. He smirked and teleported them somewhere.
Xavier busted out laughing. "That's my brother!" Thirren rolled her eyes at him.
"Should we be worried?" Makarov asked.
"Nah. They will probably come back after the week is over." Thirren assured him. He nodded.
"So we have nothing to worry about now." Cana stated. I frowned when Xavier shook his head. He glanced at me.
"No. We don't know how the mating season differs for abyss vampires compared to regular ones. And if I'm right, Jellal will definetly be after you." He told me.
"Well if it goes the same as with Nix and Lucy then we should be fine." Gray stated.
"I don't know. He might try to kill every male near her. Or nothing will happen. We just don't know enough. The bad thing is that as an abyss vampire he is too strong for us to be able to do anything to stop him." Xavier stated sadly.
"So should we lock him up or just give him Erza?" Lahar asked.
"Neither. He would escape instantly and we don't know if even Erza is going to be safe around him when the mating instinct kicks in." Thirren explained. I frowned. What do I do?
"Let me go talk to him. " I stated.
"Out of the question." Thirren stated. I sighed.
"We are going to lock him up at the HQ. You guys watch out for Erza." Thirren stated. Makarov nodded.
Jellal's POV
I woke up sweating. So hot. Why is it so hot? I kicked the covers off from my bed and curled into a ball. I felt like I was on fire. My entire body was pulsing with energy. With need. Need for what? Erza… The fire seemed to get stronger as I thought of her. My mate. I must get to her.
So…. Now you see why it became rated M. So, a lemon?
