Converging Paths

(February 9th, 2017 A.T.B. Ashford Academy, Area 11)

Kallen seriously wondered if she had gone mental upon hearing from Anthony that Kira was currently a guest at Ashford, and that Flay had been acting as his caretaker at Milly and Anthony's order. But there it was in front of her eyes, Kira in a hospital bed, Flay sitting at his side, holding his hand even. Anthony and Yukimasa looked on impassively, unfazed by the whole situation.

Kallen really contemplated needing a drink. "While I'm not unhappy to see you, Kira. I can't believe you ended up here of all places. Although I do have to wonder about your current company." She glared at Flay, who just gave a dirty look of her own right back. Anthony stepped in, not wanting the girls to get into a catfight, although Yukimasa and Kira wouldn't have minded.

"You'll have to excuse us, Flay. We need to discuss some things, so you'll need to step out for a while. I'm certain you have swim practice, right?" The White Wolf said. Flay nodded, before leaning over to kiss Kira on the cheek, before giving Yukimasa a playful smile before departing. Kallen just folded her arms in silent irritation. Anthony cleared his throat. "Now that's dealt with. We can discuss matters of a more sensitive nature."

"What exactly?" Kallen asked, her turquoise eyes narrowing, only for Yukimasa to pat her on the shoulder.

"Just hear my boss out, Kallen. I think you might like what he has to say." Yukimasa motioned for Anthony to begin.

"As my compatriot has just said. You can relax, Miss Kouzuki." The White Wolf straightened himself up, his green eyes taking on a commanding gleam. "Believe it or not, we want to help your cause. You want to see Britannia kicked out, and Japan as a free and independent nation once more? We can help you out with that."

Kallen was floored at the green-eyed sniper's words. "But aren't you guys Britannian as well? Why would you care about what happens to us?"

"Because where we come from, we were fighting for the exact same thing." Yukimasa said. "A small band of colonies fighting the oppression of their larger nation. It might have been a little different, but not by much. Perhaps I should level with you, Kallen and tell you the whole truth about where it is Anthony and I really come from."

So the two launched into the story of the Cosmic Era. By the end, Kallen was certain she was going to need a drink. It sounded so ridiculous and farfetched, yet as she looked into Yukimasa's eyes, she could tell he wasn't making any of it up. "So, let's just summarize, you two." She pointed at them. "Are soldiers belonging to a military organization known as ZAFT, and while you were fighting on the moon, something happened and you ended up here. Is that the bottom line?"

"More or less, Miss Kozuki." Anthony just put his hands in his pockets. "Whatever phenomenon brought us here, also scattered our entire squad. They could be scattered across the entire world for all we know. We reason that if anyone can help us find the others, it would be your people, or at least someone else in the Resistance who had the resources to find them."

"The Resistance was kept compartmentalized for a reason." Kallen said. "In the event one cell was attacked, we couldn't give up the rest of our comrades." She flickered an eye at Kira. "That being said, I've known Kira and his sister, Cagalli, since we were children. They lived next door to us before the invasion. We used to play together all the time."

"Those were happier days." Kira sighed, remembering the days before the invasion. "We were always over at each other's houses, staying up late and playing in the back yard. There was a creek down near our houses where we'd catch frogs." His purple eyes narrowed. "And then the day came…August 10th, 2010 ATB. The day our world came to a crashing end."

"Two full wings of Britannian Combat VTOLs appeared in the sky." Kallen said, her eyes taking on a distant gaze. "It marked the beginning of the invasion. We had to flee. Our families got separated. Naoto and I feared the worst for Kira and Cagalli." She took Kira's hand. "This is one of the few times I'm glad I'm wrong. So how is Cagalli? Is she okay?"

"Oh yeah, and as hot tempered as ever!" Kira chuckled. He looked to Anthony. "Kallen, I think we can trust these guys. They saved my life when they could have easily left me for dead or worse, turned me over to the Britannians. I think the least we can do is help them out. If I can get to my sister and explain the situation, I think she'd be more than willing to offer assistance."

"Before we get too involved." Kallen said. "Let me just ask one thing…what exactly can you people bring to our fight? I know that's a question a lot of my fellow fighters will ask."

Yukimasa smirked. "Well, I just happen to be a damn good engineer and mechanic, any weapons you need maintaining, I'm your guy. My esteemed colleague here." He jerked a thumb at the White Wolf. "Is an absolute genius with a sniper rifle, and one of ZAFT's top strategists on top of it, his battlefield management skills are second to none. I dare say if anyone can handle the logistics of combat, it's this guy."

"Not to mention I'm fairly adept with fighter planes." Anthony's smirk sent a tingle down Kallen's spine. "Tell me, Miss Kozuki, have you heard of any mysterious raids on military outposts throughout Japan over the last few months?" Kallen nodded slightly, the attacks had been all over the news, the authorities had no answers for who had done it or how it had been pulled it off. "Meet the guy who made it possible."

"How did you do that?" Kallen asked.

"You'd have to ask Miss Ashford's grandfather, he provided me with the means to do so." Anthony explained, pulling the burn phone out of his pocket. "Talk with your respective comrades, Miss Kozuki, Mr. Yamato. And from there, we can start making plans. Rest assured, we will help you free Japan."

(February 12th, 2017 A.T.B., Area 11, Charles Zi Britannia Airport)

Sebastian slowly guided the Learjet toward the runway. He had insisted on personally flying the plane, his pilot pride wouldn't allow for anyone else to do it. Tia was in the co-pilot seat, while Euphie and the Valkyries were in the back. The Storm Wolf guided the plane to a perfect three-point landing. "Nicely done, Commander Connor." The Sea Dragoness nodded in approval. "I guess it's not just Knightmare Frames you're skilled with."

"I've piloted shuttles back home, so jets aren't that far out of my sphere of expertise. Although I think this would be more Anthony's area of expertise, but I can manage this just fine." Sebastian said, guiding the aircraft to a stop at a private terminal. He keyed the PA system. "Ladies and gentlemen, we have arrived in Japan, the local time is 1642 hours, thank you for flying Storm Wolf Airlines." This elicited a giggle from Tia, as Sebastian powered down the plane.

It was then Marika poked her head in. "It looks like the welcoming committee is here, Boss." Sebastian and Tia could see an approaching convoy of vehicles, a limousine followed by the Storm Wolf's white and green Banshee, and a couple of SUVs. The ground crew pulled the access hatch down, Sebastian was the first to emerge, leading the entourage out onto the tarmac.

A man in a reddish-brown uniform emerged from the Banshee. He walked up to Sebastian and Euphie, before dropping to one knee and bowing. "Greetings to you, Princess Euphemia. I am Sir Nero Sunderland, one of the senior commanders of Prince Clovis's Royal Guard." He turned to face Sebastian. "And you must be Princess Euphemia's new knight, Sir Connor, right?"

"Uh, Yes." Sebastian hoped he wasn't being rude, but it was hard to keep himself in check, especially with the

mask covering their host's face. It was nearly identical to the one a certain White Meteor preferred, but black, just like his uniform and hair. "I apologize, Sir Sunderland. It's just…the mask you're wearing. It brings back some bad memories." Sebastian said, before quickly changing the subject. "I see you brought my car, thank you for that."

"Not a problem, I have to admit, Commander, you have very good taste. She handles a like a dream." He gave the car's fender a gentle pat. "I'm ordered to escort you to the government complex downtown. I trust you'll enjoy the trip."

The Valkyries, Rin and Tia got into the limo with Sunderland, while Sebastian and Euphie got into the Banshee. The Third Princess looked to her Knight, noting the pensive gaze in his deep blue eyes. She leaned in close. "Is something wrong?" Euphie asked worriedly.

"Not really, I'm just taking stock of our host." The Storm Wolf said, "I'll admit he caught me off guard with the mask, reminded me too much of Rau for my taste. Although I get the impression that he doesn't seem like too bad a guy. Of course, first impressions aren't everything."

Euphie smiled, resting her head against his side. "You worry too much, Sebastian. My brother Clovis is a true gentleman. You should see his collection of artwork, he's a master painter." The Storm Wolf said nothing, while a part of him should trust the word of his princess, but he had a feeling it wouldn't be so cut and dried.

The convoy continued its route through Tokyo, before arriving before a massive structure looming up to the sky, the crest of the Holy Britannian Empire emblazoned across the front. "That's the government compound, Clovis lives in the Viceroy's Mansion at the very top. I've heard it has a beautiful garden up there." Euphie's voice grew wistful. Sebastian followed the lead car into the compound's underground parking garage.

Nero led them through the labyrinthine corridors. "It's very easy to get lost around here if you don't know where you're going. I must say we were quite surprised to hear of your arrival, Princess Euphemia. I had thought you would be busy with your studies back in the homeland."

"Even I need a break from time to time." Euphie smiled, even as Rin rolled her eyes in annoyance while Tia and Sebastian were quietly watching for potential threats. "It's been so long since I've seen my brother, Clovis. I thought he would enjoy the surprise. Although I couldn't have made this trip possible without Brother Gilgamesh." Sebastian recalled that meeting all too well, and made him think there was more to the Fourth Prince than he was letting on.

(Demeter Villa, Two days prior to departing Japan)

"So have all the preparations been made, Marika?" Tia asked the redhaired member of the Valkyries. The girl bowed slightly in respect.

"Yes, Baroness Monarch. Everything is set up. The private jet is fueled, and the final check has been made. I saw to it personally." Marika held up a hand to stifle a giggle. "I have to admit, this is kind of daring. Going in search of Princess Euphemia's lost siblings. I've heard the stories of Lady Marianne, it's a very taboo subject here at court. Are you sure there won't be any trouble from Princess Cornelia?"

"Her highness, Sir Connor, and I have agreed to take full responsibility. No harm will come to you or the other girls." The Sea Dragoness said. Despite not having any real position in the Britannian military, Tia had become the unofficial commander of the Valkyries when Sebastian wasn't present. A move that none of the girls minded, since Tia was a far better boss than Bradley ever was.

"We're still taking a big gamble." Rin said, who was currently doing her nails, applying a vibrant shade of red that she preferred. "I can't imagine she will take kindly to us just doing as we please." She rolled her eyes. "Then again she could really stand to have the stick pulled out of her ass and let her little sister live her own life!" She smiled as she admired her handiwork, wiggling her toes in a way that the Storm Wolf couldn't help but find cute.

"I don't understand why Cornelia would be so against us wanting to find closure for her dead siblings." Sebastian said, taking some of the tea offered to him.

"It's because Cornelia doesn't want to lose what little she has left." Tia said. "I can understand her feelings, but she smothers Euphie at times." She delicately sipped her wine. "Perhaps this will help her lighten up a little."

"Good luck with that." Rin snorted.

"I don't think you give Cornelia enough credit, Rinny." A deep voice spoke. Rin went rigid at the sight of Gilgamesh leaning against the entrance to the garden, wearing his customary leopard print suit, and telltale smirk on his face. "Cornelia has quite the sense of humor, she just wears the mask of the commander all the time because she can't afford to show any weakness when she's here at court. It's why she prefers being on the battlefield."

"Gilgamesh, what brings you here?" Euphie's eyes lit up. "I figured you would be busy with your restaurant. I know how important it is to you." Gilgamesh just sauntered up, giving a roguish wink to Tia, who just rolled her eyes before coming up to put an arm around his sister's shoulder.

"Well, the rumors have been circulating…you're actually going to try and find Lelouch and Nunally's remains?" Sebastian's eyes narrowed, but the Fourth Prince paid it no mind. "Oh settle down, Commander. It's hardly like your little expedition is a big secret. I stopped by to offer my help. Cornelia is busy on the Middle Eastern Front with our sister, Yukira. The battle has taken an unexpected turn and requires her presence. I believe I can do something to take the heat off your back, Commander, given what you did for us at the barbeque, it's the least I can do."

"Oh thank you so much!" Euphie said, giving Gilgamesh a chaste kiss, before looking to Rin, who was about ready to bolt at the first chance she could get. "Oh, while I'm thinking about it…is it too much to ask if Rin can accompany us to Japan? I know she's a vital part of marketing for your restaurants, but I think she would welcome the chance to return home."

"You do what you can for family." The Golden Prince said as he came up to Rin, who whimpered slightly as he ran his fingers along her cheek. "My restaurant chain is only one of my many business ventures. I have to direct my attention to some more…sensitive matters that require me to be travel to my office in Hengsha. I may be there for an extended period of time. So enjoy your time in Japan, Rinny." With that, Gilgamesh departed.

The group passed through a courtyard, where several men were going through drills, overseen by a man with dark skin, his equally dark hair tied up in the back, also wearing the same reddish-brown uniform as Sunderland. He carried himself with a cocky, borderline arrogant air, and a young woman with white hair cut in an elaborate manner, making it resemble a trio of foxtails. Her eyebrows were trimmed short, a symbol of her status as nobility.

"Oh no," Sunderland winced. "Come on you guys, we have to go… now!" He quickly ushered Euphie's retinue away down a side corridor. The masked knight quickly ushered them away before they were seen. "Okay, we should be in the clear for right now."

"Is there a problem, Sir Sunderland?" Euphie asked.

He sighed. "I'm sorry, Your Highness, but I wanted to spare your brain cells from having to deal with my…associates before the time is right." Sunderland said. He looked ready to throw up. "It pains me to say this, but I'm afraid that the rest of Clovis's Royal Guard aren't exactly the crème of the crop." He shuddered inwardly. "Trust me, you'll understand what I'm talking about in due time."

"What exactly are you talking about?" Sebastian asked, it was then it dawned on him. "Oh…shit…"

Sunderland nodded. "Yeah, Clovis insists on having one of his customary parties to welcome both Princess Euphemia and Princess Consort Rin here to Japan." A wan smile crossed his lips. "I guarantee it will be a real hoot. Everyone standing around making idle talk while the band plays music to put you to sleep by. Both Carta and Iok love Clovis's parties, I guess that's why they get all along so well. I'll show you to your rooms. I'll be sure to have clothes sent up for you…pray it's nothing from Clovis's new spring line…"

"Maybe I should have stayed in Pendragon after all…" Rin whined.

(February 16th, 2017 ATB, Tokyo Settlement, Ashford Academy)

It had only been a few days, but Kira was healing quick, in no small part thanks to Reuben managing to get help from his few remaining contacts in the medical field, the medicine was helping the young Japanese in short order. He was healthy enough that he wanted to try contacting his sister in a more direct manner, hence why he had a laptop, and was rapidly typing away at a speed that Anthony swore could only be done by a Coordinator.

"You sure it can't be tracked?" Kallen asked nervously. While she knew that Kira was first rate on a computer, there was every possibility that someone could happen upon the stream and trace it back to the source, and then everyone was done for.

"Have a little faith, Miss Kozuki." Reuben said, giving a knowing glance to Kira. "From one computer nerd to another, I can tell Mr. Yamato here is quite capable. I could have used someone like him back in the day when I was still running the Ashford Foundation. I never was the type to judge according to race. As long as they had the skills to do the job required, then I would have hired them."

"Thank you, sir." Kira bowed his head slightly, not used to the compliment.

"I'm just amazed you're willing to do this despite everything we've done." Kallen said to Reuben. The Ashford Patriarch just smiled, gently patting the girl on cheek. Kallen may have been put off by Milly's antics at the best of times, but her grandfather was still a gentleman, despite not longer having any real authority.

"It's not a problem at all, my dear. I've long known of the suffering my people have inflicted on others. They expect me to toe the line, well they shouldn't have screwed me over. If I can make any kind of difference, I'll gladly choose to oppose them over and over again." Reuben smirked. "To be honest, I see a lot of Lelouch's mother in you. Marianne had that same that wild, rebellious spirit, never one to just accept her place."

"I've got a secure link." Kira said, tapping some more keys. "And we are…on." With a final keystroke, The laptop's screen became clear, revealing a girl with shoulder length blonde hair and brilliant golden eyes. "Hey Sis…long time no see."

"Well, it's about time!" Cagalli Yamato snapped. "Do you know how worried I've been, Kira? I've been throwing conniptions since we lost contact with you! I thought you were dead, or worse…captured by the Britannians!" It was then she stopped in her tirade her when she saw who was sitting next to her brother. "Kallen? Is that…really you?" Her eyes widened in disbelief.

"None other, Cagalli. It's really me!" Kallen waved to the blonde girl. Seeing her childhood friend alive and well gave her a sense of profound joy. Even after all the hardships, a small part of her past was still alive and kicking. "As you can see, I'm here with Kira. He's pretty banged up, but still alive. We nursed him back to health and he's on the mend."

"Good to know, he always had to be the stubborn type." Cagalli huffed. "So tell me, Kira. Where exactly did you end up? I know you were deep in the Settlement to find that Knightmare Frame you told me about. I hope it was worth it."

"It was, Cagalli." Kira leaned in close. "In fact…I made a couple of friends. I want you to meet one of them right now." A simple gesture and soon the Arctic White Wolf entered the frame. "This is Commander Anthony Russo, a former member of Britannian Special Forces. I think you should listen to what the man has to say, sis. He made us an offer he can't refuse."

A delicate eyebrow arched. "Britannian Special Forces?" What caught Anthony and Kallen's attention was how nonchalant Cagalli sounded, as if she didn't have the rabid hatred of Britannians that practically everyone else in the Resistance did. "What kind of offer is he making? If so I might just be willing to take him up on it."

"For real?" Anthony said, rather quite surprised by this turn of events. He was expecting skepticism, even some hostility, judging from what Kira and Kallen had told him about her.

"Cagalli?" Kallen was just as shocked.

"Let's just say, I've had some experience with Britannians who aren't as bad as the rest of their kind. Maybe it's better if I come and explain it in person." It was evident there was more than what the blonde was letting on, still Anthony hadn't gotten to where he was by being impatient.

"Very well, Miss Yamato. We're in the Tokyo Settlement, at a school called Ashford Academy. I think we can get you what's necessary to have you blend in as a student, although it might take a couple of weeks in order to put together proper documentation and get you a uniform. We will let you know and be waiting for you."

"I'll be waiting until then." Cagalli said.

(Main School building)

Classes were ending for the day, and Yukimasa was exhausted. He and Anthony had been forcefully recruited into the Student Council by Milly. He couldn't deny the blonde was smoking hot, and he didn't need any special powers to see there was something going on between her and his commanding officer. Right now all he wanted to do was crash and rest for a bit.

Tired of crashing on the Stadfeldts' couch, he put forth the idea of getting his own place. While he could have easily gotten in one of the dorms, he balked at the idea of having a roommate. James told him that Reuben would set him up, saying it was a favor from one old friend to another. The Ashford Patriarch hadn't batted an eye, telling him about the facilities deep under the school campus, telling him he could have one of the rooms, no questions asked, although he would have furnish the place himself, an easy feat given his cut from the heist.

Reuben had taken him down personally, it was a massive warehouse, that had once been used to hold what had been the Ashford Foundation's crowning achievement, the YF6-XK/E Ganymede, a third generation Knightmare Frame that had put the Ashfords on the map. The old man had shown both ZAFT pilots the machine once. Yukimasa had immediately taken a shine to it.

He had learned bit of about the old machine because the computer used to give the Ganymede its regular software maintenance was still present, even though the old Knightmare had been moved to a better location in the basement, but the console had held some data about the basic frame. Yukimasa had been studying about the KFs since he done some maintenance on Kallen's battered old Glasgow. The engineer in him had formed the germ of an idea to build one of his own when he had the chance.

The dimensionally displaced ZAFT ace was shaken from his thoughts when something that could only be described as heaven wafted into his ears. He found himself standing outside the computer lab where Rivalz was sitting, looking far too excited to be just doing homework. "Hey R-man!" He called out. "You up to something you shouldn't be on a school computer? What would Madame Prez think of that?"

"Come see for yourself!" Rivalz beckoned him over. Yukimasa had thought the kid was a little obnoxious at first, but they had bonded over a common love for all things mechanical. He sidled up, taking a seat to look at the screen.

A young girl with pink hair was singing. "Who is that?" Yukimasa asked, finding himself captivated by her, especially her brilliant red eyes, shining like a pair of garnets. And her voice was one of an angel. It made him think of Lacus on a few levels, although the Songstress of Hope never wore such revealing outfits like what the girl had on at the moment.

A brilliant red dress that left almost her entire front exposed, her breasts barely covered, and ready to pop out at any minute. A pair of large flowers adorned her hips, the back of the gown flowed out behind her. "Wow, she's incredible."

"You don't know who that is? That's Taylor St. Germaine. She one of the hottest web idols in the world right now!" Rivalz said, eyes glued to the screen. "A lot of the guys here at school are fans of her. I know I am!" Yukimasa wondered if Rivalz was going to start drooling.

"Do I need to water you occasionally and point you toward the sun?" He quipped, glad to know Rivalz's hormones were working properly, then again, he couldn't help but think Taylor was quite attractive.

"I think it would be smart if you didn't leave him alone like that, Mr. Caelstinius." A cultured voice spoke. Yukimasa looked up to see a young man with hair dark as a thousand midnights and piercing violet eyes standing in the doorway. "It's not wise to leave Rivalz alone without supervision for too long."

"Ah, I should have figured…Lelouch right?" Yukimasa had heard of Lelouch Lamperouge, the Student Council Vice President, and the heartthrob to many of the girls at school. It wasn't hard to see why, with the dignified air he carried himself with. "So what can I do for for our esteemed second in command? Does our beloved leader have plans for another festival?"

Lelouch just gave a regal shake of his head. "No, this is purely personal. I saw you playing chess on the grounds with Kallen earlier. You seem to be fairly adept at it. Perhaps you would be willing to take me on?" Rivalz forgot all about Taylor St. Germaine in that moment, excitedly babbling on at what Lelouch had just done.

Yukimasa smirked, folding his arms. "You want a match huh? Well, I'll admit I'm no stranger to the game of kings. I learned from my father. I've heard a thing or two about you around campus as well, Lelouch. I heard people call you…the Black Prince, wasn't it? Given your preference for taking the black pieces. I have to admit that's quite the sobriquet for you."

Lelouch said nothing, but Yukimasa didn't miss the slight flare in those brilliant violet orbs at the mention of the word "prince". Instead he just folded his arms, keeping on the cool detached air. "It's just a title, but I figured you might be nobility yourself, given how you hang around Kallen, not to mention you carry yourself as such. Perhaps you can give me a better challenge than my usual opponents."

Yukimasa smirked, giggling inwardly. "Uh, yeah. I'll admit I was raised in…high society. Although I don't have any kind of title to my name, at least not any more. I'm just a man, nothing more. But if it's a game you're looking for, I'll be happy to step up. Just name the time and place, I will be there."

"Perhaps tomorrow after school. I live in the building on the eastern side of the campus. We can have some tea, and then we'll have our match, until then, Sirius." Lelouch sauntered off, Rivalz shot up from his seat, uttering a hurried goodbye to Yukimasa before catching up to his best friend.

"So, you've got a match huh? What do you think about the new guy? Do you think he's another easy mark?"

Lelouch shook his head. "I don't think so, Rivalz. He doesn't carry himself in the same way as our usual opposition." Indeed, Lelouch's regular opponents were arrogant, foppish types who thought they were far more cunning than they usually were, and thus were completely floored every time the young student beat them. They always paid out of pride, which was gratifying in its own right. "For right now, it's just friendly match, although I must admit I'm actually looking forward to it, this Sirius character may actually be worth facing."

(February 18th, 2017 A.T.B. Viceroy Mansion)

Third Prince Clovis La Britannia was known for two things, his incredible painting skill, and overly, lavish parties. It was a fairly standard affair. Everyone was standing around, making the equally standard passive-aggressive talk about Numbers, their peers, and the empire in general. The man of the hour himself was sitting on his throne, arranged on the raised dais at the head of the room. Clovis was in his usual attire, a purple coat, black pants, white boots, and long white gloves with a white cape finishing the ensemble. Nero stood at his side, along with both the man and woman from earlier.

"Welcome to all my esteemed guests!" He declared in a cultured voice. "We are here to welcome my dear sister, Third Princess Euphemia Li Britannia, who's come from the homeland to spend some time visiting with me! Let's give her a warm Area 11 welcome!" With that the doors open, and Sebastian entered the ballroom, both Euphie and Rin on his arms with Tia behind them.

The two princesses were stunning sights to behold. Euphie had gone for a simple dress with cap sleeves, white trimmed in pink, the skirt coming to just below her knees. White inch and a half heels were on her feet. She was the pinnacle of simple, elegant beauty, something that few others could hope to match.

If the Third Princess could be called an angel, then the Fourth Princess Consort might be considered the opposite side of the coin, as Rin wore a brilliant red evening gown that clung to her body, a slit going up both sides revealing her long legs, resplendent in thick black panty hose with red three inch heels on her feet, decorated with rhinestones. Rin had dressed to kill and she knew it!

But the current focus of the room was the Storm Wolf of Jachin Due himself, resplendent in his red uniform, neatly pressed, the white boots polished to a brilliant shine. Worn over the uniform was the white and green coat Cornelia gave him. The brilliant colors made his brilliant blue eyes all the more intense. Fenrir was hanging at his side. The eyes of the entire crowd were on him as he walked down the stairs with a practiced stride that had come from escorting Lacus to functions such as these.

Clovis got up, crossing the floor to give his sister a delicate kiss on the cheek. "Hello there, Euphemia. It's so nice to see you again. I'm so glad you decided to come and take the time to see me. It gets so droll around here at times, running an Area colony is not what it's cracked up to be." He extended an arm to Nero and his companions. "Allow me to introduce you to the leaders of my Royal Guard. You've already met Sir Sunderland, the other man here is Sir Iok Kujan, one of my most capable soldiers."

"It's an honor to be in your presence, your Highness. Rest assured we'll keep any Elevens from harming you. They won't stand a chance as long as I, Iok Kujan stand guard!" The dark haired man, now known to be Iok, bowed low to Euphie. Sebastian immediately got the sense the man was eager to please his superiors, maybe a little too eager. Even with the mask on, the Storm Wolf could see a flicker of disgust on Nero's face, and he got an idea of what kind of man he was.

"I'm happy to know my brother's people are so vigilant." Euphie said, flashing an uncomfortable look to her knight, clearly she was trying to be civil, but also didn't want to offend her brother or anyone else.

"We always strive for our very best!" the fox tailed woman barked. "For we are the Royal Guard of Clovis La Britannia!"

"We are Perseverance and Fortitudinous!" Iok barked, snapping to attention, hand over his heart. Everyone clapped at the display, while the Third Prince looked on with pride. Clearly this was a regular occurrence at Clovis's parties. Sebastian, Euphie, Rin, and Tia were less than enthused, but they all forced a grin.

"Ah, Carta." Clovis drawled. "I'm always grateful to know you are there to be my sword and shield, as a good knight should be." He turned his attention to Sebastian. "I'm glad to see you've found a proper knight yourself. Thank you so much for protecting my sister and the rest of my siblings from those terrorists, Sir Connor."

"Indeed." Carta spoke up in a pompous tone. "Knights of Britannia are meant to be symbols of purity, and defend the empire with all their heart." She saluted Sebastian with her hand on her chest. "I salute you, Sir Connor, for being a true paragon of justice. You will do well as Princess Euphemia's bodyguard."

"Uh…sure, whatever you say." Sebastian said, "I'm going to get some drinks, excuse me." He took off for the refreshment table, the girls hot on his heels. It took everything he could to avoid bursting out in to riotous laughter. He grabbed a glass of champagne, knocking it back in one gulp. Rin came up, clearly trying to stifle her own laughter. "Okay, I've seen some crazy shit in my life time but that's just stupid!"

"Clearly those two are compensating for something." Rin giggled. "I don't think they even have half a brain between them!"

"More like an eighth of a brain." Tia chimed in. "And even then it doesn't do much for them." It was then Nero came up, an apologetic look on his face. "Sir Sunderland, I can see why you were so hesitant to introduce us to your comrades."

Nero sighed. "As you can see, Carta and Iok are very full of themselves. Both of their families have a lot of pull at court, but nepotism is hardly a proper gauge for competence." He covered his face with his hand, looking to where Carta was prattling on about the glories of the empire, everyone was clapping and offering approval.

"One of the big things is that neither Carta and Iok have seen any real combat. I'm talking about on the major battlefronts like in Europe and Africa. While the Resistance has given us some trouble from time to time, it's not the best of challenges." Nero snorted in derision. "I hate to say it, but I think they'd both chewed up and spit out into little chunks if either of them did go."

"Why is that, Sir Sunderland?" Euphie asked, still processing the quirkiness of her brother's Knight and Guard Commander.

"Carta is very adept at ceremonial formations, they're actually quite well organized. Although, I don't think she gets the clue they aren't going to do much good on an actual battlefield. And Iok…oh, I could write a book about Iok!" There was clear frustration and aggravation in Nero's voice. "The man thinks he's better than he actually is. He's reckless to a fault, charging in without any kind of plan. More than once his men have had to rush in to save his worthless ass when we're rooting out the local cells."

"Oh, I'm all too familiar with such people." Sebastian snarled. The image of a blonde man with narrow blue eyes wearing the red uniform of a ZAFT elite pilot, punctuated by an arrogant smirk flashed through his head. "All too well!"

Nero's fist clenched. "Iok brags about his prowess in combat. Although he's a mediocre pilot on his best day, and despite being a sniper, he can't hit the broad side of a barn! I remember we were engaged against one of the factions, the Blood of the Samurai, I believe, and he had a clear shot, and missed every single time, yet he went on like he hit a dead eye every single time. It was painful to watch."

Sebastian's eyes narrowed, as a feral grin crossed his face. "Then he shouldn't meet my brother and younger sister. They'd kill him on general principle for making a mockery of their craft." His gaze swept across the room, a fire of quiet rage forming at Clovis and all of the party guests, acting like they owned the world. "Sir Sunderland. I know this party was meant for us, but I think we're going to retire for the night."

"Clovis won't like it, but I can understand." Nero gave a slight bow before walking off.

Sebastian pulled the girls close. "Let's go to our rooms and get changed. And then we are out of here!" He hissed. Euphie, and Rin nodded. "Tia we'll need you to run interference for us. The Sea Dragoness just gave a little smile, before heading up to Clovis. with that the three departed from the ballroom, without any fanfare. They quickly went to the chambers provided to change.

Sebastian changed out of his uniform, putting on his trademark dark green t-shirt, black jeans, sneakers, and finishing off with his trademark A-1 replica leather jacket. He grabbed the bag he prepared for this, quietly entering the hall, watching Rin and Euphie come out of their room, Rin had on a red long sleeved sweater, a short black skirt, and long black thigh-high stockings. He looked on with appreciation.

"Euphie should be ready in a few minutes." Rin said, adjusting the backpack hanging off her shoulders before giving a seductive smile. "Like what you see?"

"Just a little bit." Sebastian admitted, wondering just how much Gilgamesh appreciated what he had.

It was then the Third Princess came out, his eyes widened at the sight. She was dressed simply, a light pink t-shirt the same color as her hair, it made her blue eyes all the more prominent. The tight blue jeans showed off her rear. Euphie blushed slightly. "Don't stare at me!" She said.

Rin just smirked, smacking the pinkette on the butt, causing her to gasp. "Aw, don't you want your knight admiring your goods, Euph? I think he rather enjoys it, right, Sebby?" She purred, rubbing Euphie's ass in a suggestive manner.

Sebastian just cleared his throat. "Let's get moving!" The Storm Wolf led the two princesses down the hall where they could get the elevator to the parking garage. The Banshee was still parked in the slot where he had left it when they arrived. Rin climbed into the backseat while Sebastian quickly loaded their bags into the trunk. The sound of footsteps caught their attention, Sebastian's hand instinctively going for his M6, but luckily it was only Tia.

"Wow, I thought I would never be able to slip away! Kujan kept trying to hit on me. I swear the man cannot take a hint." The blue clad noble said. "I'll do what I can to keep your brother and his people at bay, but I suggest you don't too long. Go find and them." Euphie smiled, throwing her arms around her best friend's neck, giving the Sea Dragoness a chaste kiss, before getting into the Banshee's passenger seat. Tia looked to Sebastian. "Take care of her, Commander, you are her Knight after all." She winked.

"Don't worry, Tia. I'll make sure they keep out of trouble." Rin said from the back seat, before smacking Sebastian on the back. "Now let's get out of here before ol' Clovy gets wind of what we're up to! Floor it, Sebby!" Sebastian needed no further words, hitting the gas. The white and green muscle's car's engine roared to life and sped out of the underground parking lot and into the night.

(February 19th, 2017 ATB, Ashford Academy)

The rain was coming down in torrents. Yukimasa pulled his jacket around him. He arrived at the stately looking mansion that sat on the edge of the campus, where Lelouch had told him to come for their chess match. He hadn't been certain what to make of dark haired young man, so this was a good chance to get to know him better. He knocked at the door, which was immediately answered by a Japanese woman a few years older than him, wearing the garb of a maid. "Good afternoon," He turned on the charm. "I'm Sirius Caelstinus. I believe Mr. Lamperouge is waiting for me?"

The maid nodded. "But of course, He's waiting in the dining room. Please follow me." Yukimasa walked inside, taking note of his surroundings. It was decorated well, but not overly gaudy like how the Stadfeld estate. He took note of the maid, how she moved with a smooth, practiced gait. Clearly this maid was skilled at more than just serving tea and making beds.

Lelouch sat at the table with a chessboard, all the pieces in their starting positions. "Excellent, you're on time." He nodded to the maid. "Well done, Sayoko. Thank you so much." Sayoko bowed slightly before departing. "Our maid is very capable, she's been with us for a long time."

"Not bad on the eyes, either." Yukimasa remarked, taking a seat across the table from Lelouch. "But enough idle chatter, we came to play right?" the two shook hands, observing the etiquette of the game before finally sitting down to play.

"I'll take black if you don't mind." The dark haired young man said. "As white, you make the first move." Yukimasa, went for one of his pawns, moving it forward two spaces. Lelouch smirked before making his own move, one that surprised Yukimasa as he moved the black king. "Surprised at my choice? A lot of people think that when they play me for the first time, but it's part of my own personal philosophy. If the king does not lead, how can he expect his subordinates to follow?"

Yukimasa gave a slight nod of acknowledgement. It was an unconventional move to be sure, and he could tell that Lelouch was baiting him. Still he played along. "It's not that strange. It actually makes a lot of sense, to be honest. Knowing that your leader is sharing the risk inspires the rank and file to fight that much harder, it builds a sense of trust. Although I have to wonder if you're being a little too certain of yourself, putting your king at risk right from the beginning."

"Life is meaningless if you don't take chances. But as you said, this game has just begun." Lelouch stated. He smirked, feeling a surge of energy through him, It was one that he didn't get often, it was the surge of competition against a worthy opponent in his favorite game. He went for his black knight. "Now things get interesting!"

The match lasted almost an hour, and Yukimasa had used every trick and strategy he knew, however Lelouch was the victor, having cornered the white king with his black queen and his surviving black knight. The ZAFT ace sighed, dropping the king. "I concede. That was actually quite the thrill. I can see why everyone says you're so good."

Lelouch nodded. "Thank you, Sirius. I must say you impressed me as well. I don't think I've ever had this much fun. Only two other people have managed to best me, but I think with a little more practice, you could do the same." His voice dropped lower. "In fact…don't tell Anthony or the others this, but sometimes Rivalz and I skip class to play chess with…higher stakes than just this. Perhaps you'd like to join us?"

Red eyes met deep violet, it went unsaid, but a bond of mutual respect between the two young men had been formed. Yukimasa could tell Lelouch was hiding something, and this could be the best way to learn more. "Sure, just let me know when."

"Lelouch?" a gentle voice called out. Yukimasa watched a motorized wheelchair roll in, a young girl of about fourteen with long, wavy, light brown hair and a gentle smile came in. What caught his attention most was how her eyes were shut, indicating she was blind. "It's almost time for tea, Sayoko is waiting." The dark haired youth smiled warmly, reaching out to take hold of the girl's hand.

"Sorry, Nunally. I was playing a game with a new friend. Allow me to introduce you." He beckoned Yukimasa to come over. "Sirius Caelestinus, let me introduce you to my younger sister, Nunally Lamperouge." He took hold of her hand, gently kissing it.

He spoke in a gentle voice. "It's very nice to meet you, Miss Lamperouge. I'm sorry if I messed up your time with your older brother. However, he challenged me to a chess match." He gave a debonair smile to her. Nunally blushed slightly. "I'd love to stay for tea, but I have some other business. Perhaps the next time your brother and I square off, I'll stay and then we can talk more."

"I'll look forward to that." Yukimasa looked to Lelouch. "Until tomorrow. I can find my own way out." He excused himself from the building, heading toward the main classroom building. It was there he could he access the hangar he had turned into his sanctuary against the world.

Yukimasa went to the elevator that would take him down to the hangar that was his new home. He sighed, reflecting on his match with Lelouch. No one had ever managed to give him that much of a challenge. "I definitely need to talk to Anthony. Something about that guy just doesn't sit right with me." He yawned. "But I guess that can wait another day." the door opened on a dark corridor. He walked a short way to a steel door, when something caught his attention, the sound of singing, very familiar singing

"No…" Yukimasa breathed, as he threw open the door, sitting on a box was Taylor St. Germaine herself, wearing a black leather skirt and matching vest over a simple red t-shirt, idly kicking her legs as she played cat's cradle with some thread strung between her fingers while singing the song from the video. The knee-length black boots she wore, made slight bumping sounds against the wooden crate. "Damn, and I thought the boss got all the tail around here!"

He didn't want to believe she was here in the same room. She stopped singing, looking up to face him. She held the cat's cradle up. "Go on…take it." She said in a matter of fact tone. Yukimasa hesitated for a minute. He regarded it for a minute, before gently plucking it from her fingers.

"Miss St. Germaine, correct?" Yukimasa said. Taylor just folded her arms. "I'm more surprised by the fact that you're here. Considering this room is mine. How did you find your way down here?" Taylor just idly kicked her shoes against the wooden crate, pulling out a nail file and began doing her nails.

"I need to hide out for a while. The headmaster told me to come down here. He said you were reliable, or was he lying?"

He shrugged. "Well, I'm on the level if you are. As long as we're on the same side." His eyes narrowed slightly, as he recalled what Anthony had told him about the video conference with Cagalli earlier. "You're with the Resistance aren't you? The Blood of the Samurai?" Yukimasa smirked within when he saw the slightest shift on Taylor's face. "So I hit the mark."

"Maybe." Taylor said, hopping off the box. "I was told to pass on a message from Cagalli to your friend, Russo. She'll be coming within the week to meet her brother. She's been worrying ever since he vanished, so I can imagine Cagalli is going to give him such an ass chewing."

"Remind me to stay far away when the pin on that grenade gets pulled." Yukimasa said, feeling sorry for Kira when he reunited with his sister. "So…are you staying here? Because I thin it would be kind of awkward. I was kind of hoping to get a nap." The pinkette smirked, leaning in close, making him very uncomfortable.

"Mr. Ashford is getting the paperwork ready for my transfer in. I'll probably get a place in one of the dorms. But until then…I need a place to crash." Her smile became even more devious, even borderline seductive as she stretched, before putting a hand on his shoulder. "Maybe we can take that nap together. I have been on the go a lot, lately. I'm kind of tired."

Yukimasa sighed inwardly, "I'm really glad that Kallen isn't here to see this." Cue, the door opening, admitting a certain redhead. The half-Japanese looked from Yukimasa, to Taylor, and then back. The pinkette winked at her, before kissing him on the cheek. Her face already turning red from anger. "Me and my big mouth." He face palmed.

"Mind explaining to me what's going on here?" Kallen's voice was low, and dripping with venom. "Because, I certainly would like an explanation!" She had come down to talk to Yukimasa about something, only to find another girl present. A girl that was acting way too friendly with him for her tastes!

"I'm here on behalf of your old friend, Cagalli." Taylor winked. "Although I didn't expect to meet a hottie like this. He's even my type. dark hair, red eyes, he's even smart. I like that in a guy." Kallen let out a scream of impotent rage. Yukimasa just bowed his head, covering his eyes.

"Pin…pulled." He said, making an explosion gesture with his hand.

Taylor just giggled. "You can relax, Red. I'm jerking your chain. You really do need to do something about that short fuse of yours. Someone could take advantage of it." She became serious. "But I did mean what I said. Cagalli sent me. It seems Kira and your friend, Russo, want to make another attempt at capturing that Knightmare Frame. I just hope it's worth it."

"Why would a Britannian want to help us? Especially when you're just some bubblehead pop star who's popular online?" Kallen had seen Taylor's videos and immediately dismissed them as worthless. The pinkette just shrugged, grabbing onto Yukimasa's arm.

"A real funny question considering you're the daughter of nobility. Like you, I have my reasons, and those reasons are private." She smirked, striking a smug pose, relishing the sight of Kallen's face getting red again. "If you're nice, I may just tell you. Taylor looked to Yukimasa, tapping him on the shoulder. "I'll have to take a rain check on the snooze, see ya in class!"

Kallen glared at Taylor, already not liking her. Yukimasa certain she could start shooting lasers out of her eyes. He offered a sheepish grin. "I know what they say about going to bed angry…but maybe a nap would help with your mood? I was going to get some sleep myself, after all."

The fiery haired halfblood just sighed, punching in the arm. "Be lucky I like you so much." The two went over to the bed, both asleep before even hitting the mattress.

(Swimming Pool, Ashford Academy, 0000 Hours)

It was exactly the stroke of the midnight, and the swimming pool was quiet. The roof was open slightly, showing the night sky, glittering with the expanse of starts, and letting the light of the almost full moon flow in, illuminating the inside with a gentle light, including the solitary figure standing on the ten-meter dive platform.

Shirley Fenette was in a place she was all too familiar with, wearing the official school issue swimsuit of Ashford Academy, a blue one-piece racerback that clung to her lithe, hourglass figure, showing off her ample chest and perfectly shaped rear end. If this was during her regular swim practice after school, a white spandex swimcap would covering her tangerine colored hair, but she hadn't worn it, since this time was purely for her, so it hung loosely behind her.

Arms raised high over her head, Shirley took a deep breath before she dove into the water, cutting through the air as she hit the water, creating a slight splash and sending out ripples from the place where she had landed. It was quiet underwater, not a sound to be heard. Shirley kicked upwards, making for the surface, letting out a gasp.

Shirley rolled over on her back, long auburn hair undulating in the water as if it had a mind of its own. She smiled before turning over to dive back under for a few seconds, swimming back to the side. She climbed out of the pool, water dripping off her body. Shirley shook her head, sending water in all directions. The redhead sat down on the edge of the pool with her legs in the water.

The sound of the door scraping open and footsteps slowly approaching her caused Shirley to look over her shoulder. Her shoulders sagged when she saw who it was. "Oh, it's just you, Kieran." The swimmer said to the young man with hair black as the night itself, wearing a pair of equally black boardshorts. Violet eyes gazed on at her lovingly as Shirley gave a warm smile. "Did you come to join me?"

Kieran Lamperouge sat down next to her, putting an arm around her shoulders. "But of course, my dear. I wouldn't dare miss a chance to spend time with the sexiest swimmer at Ashford Academy." She let out a dainty giggle before their lips met in a delicate kiss. He stood up, grabbing Shirley by the arm. "Caution, you may get wet!" He grinned, falling back into the water, pulling her in with her. She screamed before they both hit the water.

The two came up laughing, Shirley paddled over to Kieran, putting her arms around him. The two treaded water, gazing into each other's arms. "You know, I've wondered something." Kieran muttered, "I wonder how long we can last, if we're breathing nothing but each other." Shirley blushed as they went under together, not making a sound.
