Safe and Sound

I remember tears streaming down your face
When I said, "I'll never let you go"
When all those shadows almost killed your light
I remember you said, "Don't leave me here alone"
But all that's dead and gone and passed tonight

Just close your eyes
The sun is going down
You'll be alright
No one can hurt you now
Come morning light
You and I'll be safe and sound

Thank you so much for reading and reviewing!

So, Catching Fire came out Friday and so, I figured I'd do a Hunger Games song, I hope you like it!

The morning sun shone brightly through the large window of the bedroom. The covers of the bed were thrown off in a hurry, and a figure ran over to the window and shut it tightly.

Erik groaned and turned to walk back to bed, but saw that something was missing. His wife was gone from the bed. He looked around, fear and jealousy building up inside of him like a fire.

"Christine?" He called out while he continued to look. The faint sound of crying echoed through the room, and rushed in its direction.

"Christine," He sighed.

His wife was seated on the floor of their bathroom, sniffling through her quiet tears. Erik ran over to her and sat right next to her.

"What's wrong?" He asked as he looked her over. She shook her head and dried her eyes.

"Nothing, I'm...I'm fine." She mumbled, starting to stand up.

"Christine-"

"I'm fine! Really, I'm alright." She assured him, picking herself off of the floor in the process.

Erik stretched out his arm, and she took it. Christine led him out of the room and down the stairs. But no matter how hard she tried to appear happy, he knew that something wasn't right.

"Erik, let me do that." Christine said to Erik as he stirred the mixture for their breakfast.

"I can do it." Erik protested.

"No, I want to do it."

"But-"

"But nothing."

She grabbed the bowl from him and began stirring. Stealing a glance up at Erik every chance she got. Erik nodded and walked out of the room and to his piano. His fingers set to work, picking out the melody that was floating through his head. He was nearing the end when a soft hand touched his own he drew it back, his natural instincts kicking in.

"It's ready." Christine whispered.

She took his cold hand in her own and walked beside of him until they got to the kitchen. He pulled out a chair for her, and then sat in his own.

"Christine?" Erik began.

"Yes." She answered

"I've been thinking."

"Of what?"

"Well, of the idea of having...children." He braced himself for a direct 'no', but instead his question was met in silence.

Christine to not even be paying attention. Her attention was focused on the wall on the opposite side of the room. Her eyes, normally a brilliant blue, were more of a dull grey. Erik noticed this, and though it worried him, he didn't bring it up. Christine blinked and focused back on Erik.

"What?" She whispered, almost to herself.

"I said, have you thought about having a child?"

"I don't want to talk about that."

"Why not?"

"I don't want to have a child now."

"Well, I didn't mean now-"

"No. Not now, not ever."

Erik's courage melted away in that one statement. He stood up, and gripped the chair for support.

"It's me, isn't it?" Erik said, feeling the fury rise up in him. "Isn't it!" He shouted.

"No." Christine quickly shook her head.

"Then why!"

"I don't know!" She yelled before storming out of the room.

Erik threw down the chair, ran to his music room and locked the door.

Five hours passed, and Erik spent the whole time playing piano and, Christine spent the whole time listening outside of the door. She let the music calm her nerves, and weep with her, it was the only thing that understood. She mustered enough strength to stand and knock on the locked door. The music stopped and she could hear the shuffling of papers. She heard the bolt being released, and the door swung open.

"Yes." Erik stiffly answered.

Christine stared at him for a long moment before breaking down and flying into his arms. Her tears soaked his jacket, but he only held her closer.

"I'm sorry..." Her voice trailed off, lost in her cries.

"It's alright." Erik soothed her, leading her to the piano, but he never let her go.

"No it's not."

"Then what's the matter?"

"I should have told you, I...I..."

"Shhh. Settle down, you're safe, I won't ever let you go."

"I was going to tell you, but- oh, it's my fault!"

"Christine, what happened, are you hurt?"

"I thought I was pregnant."

"What?"

"I thought I was carrying your child, Erik. Yours."

"Why didn't you tell me?"

"I don't know, I only found out last week. I woke up last night and, and it was awful!"

Christine's hysterics started again and Erik tried to comfort her, but he couldn't bring himself to his usual standards. He was in as much shock as she was.

"I'm a horrible person." Christine whispered into his shoulder. He bent down and pressed a kiss on her hair.

"No you're not. You're the most wonderful person I know."

"I am?"

"Yes, and we'll make it through this, together."

"Together." She echoed.
